We ordered bread to start, two pastas and a pizza: Italian carb heaven. The dishes were well-portioned, and each bite was full of delectable flavors. What's nice about the pizza is that you get a pair of scissors, allowing you to easily slice the pie exactly how you want. The gelato was the biggest portion I've ever been served - we couldn't eat it all, even between the three of us. It was quite delicious, and something we'll definitely be ordering again. Came here for lunch with my sister. The first thing that caught our eyes immediately was the interior decor. So beautiful, pink, girlie, brunch vibes! We loved all the florals and the detail that went into the interior design. We ordered the margherita pizza and potato fritters. The dough used on the pizza tasted very authentic! It took me back to the pizza i've had in New York and Italy. The sauce used on the pizza was a bit too marina like; a simpler tomato sauce would pair really well if used. I did feel our pizza needed a little bit more cheese but overall I give it a 4/5. The potato fritters exceeded my expectations. The spiced hollandaise was a bit too acidic for my liking and I felt the potatoes would have paired really well with plain ketchup as they already stood out by themselves. The pizza was very average and everything came out not super hot. I will say my drink and dessert were yummy! My friend did notice a hair in her dessert though... really disappointing. Another miss for us was service. We had the wrong side brought out, plates/drinks were picked up before asking if we were finished with them, and we had to remind the waiter to bring our leftovers to us after having them box it up. We went here on valentine's day 2024. My partner had a reservation. This place is wonderful. It started off rocky but ended beautifully. The host sat us up front and by the door at a 2 top. Its winter in Michigan and they had the door open so no thankyou. He asked the host to seat is elsewhere and they said it was going to be a 2 hour wait. 7pm on a Wednesday night, so not busy at all. 6 diners. We first dined here 2 yrs ago and I wasn't super impressed and I found the whole experience a bit pretentious, like they were taking themselves way too seriously. I thought the food was okay, and that they were focusing more on the vibe and decor than the food, which I'm not cool with. This visit was much better food wise - I also feel like the dinnerware is different? I feel like I remember white china plates with custom printed logo in gold ink... and now more like a pink stoneware... Not important, but on our first visit I recall thinking they could charge less for the food if they didn't have these super expensive custom plates. Anyway, for 6 of us we had Margherita and Sausage/Olive pizza. Both very good but the sausage with no red sauce was bland. The Little Gem salad is excellent. We then had the Huge Shortrib which everyone had a taste of. Then one duck pasta (excellent) and 2 rigatoni bolognese for the teenage girlies who devoured them. The seasonal cannolis were good (strawberry rhubarb) but honestly with that flavor, it was not very cannoli-like. The drinks are good but everything there is even more expensive than you would think as far as pricing goes right now. Complaint? Based on other Yelp reviews, I knew they charged for water even though they still don't tell you that when they ask if you want still or sparkling. If you're going to charge me for water, you should bring a factory sealed bottle of water, not filtered water from Detroit. I want to see the brand, and I want to be told that I'm paying for it. After a nice meal with great service, the donuts were taking FOREVER. Finally the manager came over to apologize and said he was going to comp them. Terrible experience. From the moment we stepped in. I had called beforehand as I always do having allergy issues. Unsure of exactly my options we stopped in. The host was very helpful. The Chef however not much. She went and spoke with him twice. He couldn't guarantee there wouldn't be cross contamination and stated there weren't any clean cutting boards. I understand that premade sauces and such pose difficulties anywhere I go. I have never been told that they couldn't wash a cutting board or use a fresh pan before though. The restaurant is quite large. And only four tables were sat. So this definitely wasn't because they were busy. We reluctantly decided to sit down as we were hungry and I really wanted to try a wine I saw. My husband was asked to remove his hat, not a baseball hat, as there is a no hat policy in the dining room. He usually does anyway so it wasn't a big deal it was just odd to be told that he had to. This isn't a private club or dress code kind of establishment. Maybe post it on the door or your website. The music was way too loud and the decor was reminiscent of colors my grandma used with I was younger with all the mauve. The trees were nice. Our server presented us with what she called a water service they offered. Now, I think we have all been offered different waters before, bottled, sparkling. I just have never been offered tap water as a water service and expected to pay for it before. That was pretty much the breaking point for us. That and reading the reviews on Yelp about the only dish I could get being bland with my restrictions it would be more bland. With the way it had went since we walked in there was no way I wanted to spend any more money at an establishment that makes you feel like a bother. We asked for our bill and cashed out. After doing that the manager came by to tell us that the Chef said he could make pretty much anything and guarantee no cross contamination. This after I called, spent ten minutes at the door and now he happily can oblige and help me out. Sorry, there are way too many restaurants in Detroit to choose from that I have happily eaten at without issue and who were happy to accommodate my allergies. This experience was beyond frustrating. We were looking for someplace new to dine before a concert at LCA and I had been wanting to try this place for a while, so it was the perfect opportunity to check it out. I loved the look of this place as soon as we walked in - very unique and inviting. There are a ton of cool and comfy looking booths throughout the restaurant, but they are made for bigger groups so we were seated at a cozy two-top. Our server, Marvin, was nothing short of marvelous. He was super friendly and did a great job describing the menu items and answering our questions throughout the evening. We started with a couple of mocktails. For our entree, we split the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe and the Guanciale pizza. Both were excellent with flavors that really stood out. We had the heirloom tomatoes, the fried potato thingies, the Gorgonzola dulce pizza and the pork ragu rigatoni. Everything was simply perfect and yummy, seasoned exactly right. Each flavor was distinct and this PIZZA DOUGH. Baybee...they're doing something right. Crispy, charr-ey, chewy, thin and foldy. Sat at the bar, and we had an *experience.* Awesome vibes, clean, relaxing and fun atmosphere. Food and cocktails from start to finish were all well above standard--creative, delicious, and craveable! What we got: the Mad Nice sparkling wine (near-perfect rosé!), chicken sausage, Midtown-style pizza (double crust, absolutely stellar!), seasonal baked good which was a tiramisu cream puff, '55 Thunderbird cocktails (got 2 of those, they're so good), Caffè Italiano Amigo (still dreaming of that one--the perfect after-meal cocktail). Crispy bottom and the crust was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Loved the ricotta on it. Def get some chili flakes on the side. Dessert: A MUST GET: DETROIT CHOCOLATE CAKE! Wow! We just loved it here! We were able to get in without reservations and sit at the bar. The bartender was extremely helpful. He recommended the limoncello shots. We really enjoyed them, although we sipped them and did not do them as shots. I absolutely loved the ambiance here! I'm a girly girl and loved all of the pink. This would be a great spot for a girls dinner. We split the pastrami sandwich which came on house made sourdough bread. It was fantastic! This place is absolutely a vibe. The interior is almost surreal.... Like you just stepped into a movie. The central bar, covered in plant life, was hopping the entire time we were there. Colored lighting slowly changes the mood. Tables are set in pink and gold. You do really have to go once just to sit and be. Food: Skip the Instagram-worthy pizza. It might be fun to cut it with scissors, but I found two of the three pizzas we ordered to be mediocre. A pretty big let down. The burnt crust on the bottom really overwhelmed any flavor combos happening. Instead order the pasta, which was heavenly. Spicy and savory... with great texture. I'd absolutely go back just for it. Drinks were also great and dangerously smooth. Dessert (gelato sando) was too sweet and overly chewy. Service was very good. Our waitress was even kind enough to throw in an extra slice of sourdough for our party of 5, which was much appreciated. Beautiful flowers crawling up the walls and a ceiling as you are walking in, staff dressed in white uniforms - are they supposed to be painters? Mad scientists? Entrees are rather expensive, but portion sizes are good enough to split. Especially pizzas! And they are pretty darn good!! Shroom pizza is a hit! Little gem salad was big and we split it 3-way. It's got a nice mix of spices. One of my friends found it somewhat spicy but it worked for my taste. Duck pasta portion wasnt huge and was ok. I didn't dislike it but won't order again. Very beautifully designed restaurant, great for the camera. I wish the food was equally as impressive. Appetizers: Sourdough - pretty nicey presented in a boat of butter with olive oil. Not sure how we were supposed to eat it as they didn't provide any knives with it? So the bread was used used to smear the butter haha.. Little gem salad - This was amazing, I loved how the spiced nuts provided a good crunch, but were small enough that they stuck to each bite instead of falling off your fork. I would get this again. Beef tartare - I wish the beef was more foreward on the dish. It's served with toasted sourdough which works well and balances the dish. Not sure if I would get it again, but it's fresh and one of the best I've had. Pastas: Cacio e pepe - The pasta was cooked perfectly. It had the right amount of bite and chew. The sauce itself was dissappointing. I could barely taste the pepper, even though it's literally in the name of the dish! The cheese didn't really come through either. Rigatoni ragout - Again, the pasta was perfect, and the chili was perfectly balanced for the dish. The pork pieces were small and didn't really contribute much to the dish but they were fall apart tender. Meats: Trout - So I normally don't get fish since how it's prepared is usually very disappointing. This fish was tender, with the skin on, and very delicate tasting. It was my favorite dish. It's also completely deboned so you don't have to worry about bones, just dig in! Short rib - Impressive, flavorful, and tender. I wish it came with some carb to balance out the richness. Sides: Potato fritto - Crispy and perfectly fried, what's not to like? You will definately need the hollandaise sauce to dip them in as they're pretty bland by themselves. Heriloom tomatoes - Nothing special, the tomatoes didn't taste fresh, or at least they had been refrigerated so there's none of the delicate tomato flavors that come out of a freshly-picked tomato from the garden. At $15 I was expecting more. Pizza: Shrooms and Margherita - I think the restaurant is overextending themselves to be honest. They come with cute scissors to cut them yourself, but for some reason the crust was soggy in the middle so the ingredients flop off the slice when you grab a piece. There are better pizzas out there. Drinks: I got the seasonal non alcoholic cocktail which was "wind"..but honestly I took one sip and it was awful. It tasted like perfume and had this weird soapy texture with bubbles that lingered on the surface for the entire meal. My tablemates also tried it and agreed. read more

When we arrived our server let us know that the whole idea was Italy meets, California, meets Detroit, which is such a inquire concept that is articulated in the food, drinks, and atmosphere.
