When i walked in i was taken back by the overall feel of the place. It was kinda cheap looking. not my taste at all. The service was horrible. Our servers name was Jordan i believe. Me and my husband were mid conversation when she came to the table, she did not say hello, excuse, just blurted out "Drinks". I used to be in the service industry myself so i just shook it off, maybe she was having a bad day. When she arrived to the table with our beers she just slammed them on the table, not to mention she placed my beer in front of my husband and his in front of me. Her attitude was as distasteful as her hair coloring and the cheap taps they served the beer from. Horrible service, 0 out of 10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND . read more

Beer was delicious! But the food was mediocre. Got wings, poutine, and a chicken sandwich. I the chicken sandwich was a bit burnt. The poutine was good with a TEXAS twist to it (country gravy used). The wings were ok. They fell apart while eating causing lots of cartilage to be eaten which had to be spit out. Flavor was ok. So all in all, ok place in regards to food but has tasty beer read more

I live nearby and come by often for beer and food. They've got a great selection of beer with a focus on Texas crafts, although there are always some beers from further afield. Mad Pecker is always brewing excellent beer in house, too, and often has a selection of several beers you can't find anywhere else. The food is very good. It's pretty standard bar fare: pizzas and a lot of fried appetizers. It's done well, and complements the beer. They occasionally make off-menu items as well, so check the chalkboard behind the bar. read more

Everything was delicious! The tacos were full size and piled with toppings. We also got 3 flights of beer. For all the food listed above and 3 flights of beer samples we paid around $54. The neighborhood area is suspect, with a massage parlor in the same strip mall as MPB just to give you a flavor of what you'll encounter. The strip mall is ancient, and probably should be bulldozed and remade into something much more modern and appealing. Inside the restaurant/brew-pub, the place is dark and strange, slightly unkempt, giving an almost 'dirty' feel. The bathrooms are in need of updating with paint and a good scrubbing to say the least. While we really like and seek-out craft beer, the MPB beer that they make themselves was very underwhelming; about a step up from a home brew experiment. Local craft beer, scratch made food, and a chill vibe. Let's go with the part that I evangelize: the beer. Mad Pecker brews their own beer, the beer they brew is sometimes secondary to the restaurant and the food, and that's criminal. They have a small system, but are able to produce some of the best beer in the city, consistently. Their IPAs are what dreams are made of. If you happen to be in when they have the Triangulum IPA on tap, put your phone down and order it right now. They also have a great tap list of Texas craft beers. You won't find your usual Miller, Bud, Coors here; but don't worry their bartenders are trained to find you something better. Now, the part everyone else is here for: the food. Their food is no frills, affordable, and delicious. Their wings are delicious, last night I got Garlic Parm & Pineapple Habanero. There's no habanero glaze here, they come out tossed in bright orange deliciousness, seeds and all. These wings are not for the faint of heart. The garlic parm were just as tasty, pro tip: get a side of buffalo sauce to drizzle over them. My absolute favorite thing I have to get every time I go are the Texas Poutine Fries. Who doesn't want sausage gravy poured over handcut fries? Their pizza is also to die for, no need to ask for extra cheese here because they're always at maximum cheesiness. Let's be really real, Yelp fam. This place is not going to get a Michelin star anytime soon. But they serve a purpose and serve it damn well. A local bar and restaurant that caters to the neighborhood surrounding them. If you're looking for fine linens and a red carpet, you're better off going down south to a place off the river. tl;dr: Bad ass brewery with hoptastic IPAs, affordable and filling shareable dishes like Texas Poutine Fries, spicy wings with scratch made sauces, and pizza that is so cheesy it'll tell you a few dad jokes. read more

ARE DOGS ALLOWED?! Honestly can't tell you how the food or beer is, I didn't get that far. I decided to try it on a Friday night and saw that dogs were allowed. I went inside, asked if my dog was allowed inside and told yes. We found a high top table, away from everyone else and sat down. Less than a minute later, the same server came up and politely said they hadn't been paying attention and only service dogs were allowed inside but she could be on the patio and there was full service out there. I said "ok great, I'll be outside." My dog and I sat outside for over 20 minutes without anyone coming out before I decided to leave. read more

We ate here the other day and the food was decent. not sure i'd say it was family friendly. we did take our kids in here and it was fine, but definitely wouldn't come back with kids when busier. the pretzel with beer cheese and pretty good and the wings were on point. My only complaint was we asked for lettuce / tomato on one of the burgers and were told they can't do that. Said that only comes on the chicken sandwich. We were out to find something new and local. We stumbled across this cool neighborhood pub and based on ratings checked it out. We were not disappointed! This place was and is a nice neighborhood joint. It's fairly family friendly and they have their own brews. We ordered the chicken sandwich which in itself was enough to split between two people. The size of the sand which and actual protein was great! The breading was crunchy and flaky. The chicken was juicy and flavorful. We ordered some wings (Lemon Pepper & Maple Bacon). Both were exceptional. They had tons of flavor, not overly sauced, the sauce stuck to the wings and it was very well balanced in flavor. They were probably the best Lemon Pepper and Maple Bacon wings we've ever had for the flavor...while still being able to taste the actual wing and not being overly strong in seasoning. We also ordered a pizza and although great and artisanal...may not be a good item for kids since it was flavorful and probably made for an adult palate. We found this place on a whim as we needed to kill some time on a Saturday afternoon before a soccer game. We arrived just as they opened, and sat at the bar. The decor immediately hits you with independently owned, local craft beer scene, typical central Texas vibes. We were greeted immediately by the bartender with drink orders, they came out cold and quick (I mention that because my mom ordered a bottled beer and was immediately met with a frosty cold glass. We ordered food quickly because of the need to get to the soccer game, a brisket nacho plate, fast, easy to share, perfect. My wife and I were house hunting in the area and got hungry. Wanted to give this place a try. The outside looks a little off putting, but the reviews looked ok. First off I walked in and there was jot a staff member in sight. After 3 or 4 minutes, someone finally said "Oh, sit anywhere." The server we had, Marlyna, was probably one of the worst I've had since I've been in SA. She was completely disinterested with helping us at all, and it really killed the whole experience. The review would be higher if the food was not cafeteria quality. I love Mac and cheese, and this was basically velveta you can get at H‑E‑B. The burger was clearly pre-frozen and tasteless. I was in the area looking for place to eat and truned to Yelp for help and it did not disappoint! I really liked this place. I noticed that several of the patrons were regulars or service industry employees elsewhere, that say a lot about the place. The Mad Pecker opens at 4pm on weekdays so when we pulled up just after 4, we initially thought it was closed because no one was there. Well, that quickly changed about 10 minutes after we entered, the place filled up pretty nicely. Upon entering it's set up more like a bar then a brewery and has some bar games. I really like that they serve other local brews as well as their own. I had their fried pickles and beer cheese fondue bacon burger. They were the right kind of tasty and served very hot(temperature) which I really like. I sat at the bar and the bartender was nice, check in on me when i needed with out over doing it. Chatted about the beers and let me sample a couple. I settled on their Bitter Soul which I was told could be bitter but it really was that bitter. Just a good drinking refreshing beer. Used to have amazing, hot, mango habanero hot wings. Now neither the mango hab or the cherry reaper are even mildly spicy. It's a real disappointment, they were my favorite wings and kept me coming back. I hear it's because people ordered hot wings, we're surprised when they were hot and sent em back. Perhaps I should adopt the policy of ordering hot wings and being surprised when they're not hot and sending them back, seems to be the only way to get a businesses attention. By far our favorite brewery in San Antonio! Great staff/ownership and they do appreciate returning customers. We visited post COVID lockdown and they still remembered our names and asked about our crazy kids! Beer selection is definitely hand selected and great thing about this place is the selection. Aside from the house craft brews which are excellent and popular they offer a wide selection of TX Craft beers. On to the food...try everything once. Kids love the pizza, burgers and cheese bites!
