So much appreciation to this staff who let us walk in with our own drinks and provided carafes (heads up though, there's a $5 cork fee for BYOB) My group of friends just wanted to catch up over some mimosas and brunch. We were grateful to Madison for the very friendly and casual atmosphere and meeting those expectations I ordered pretty light - I had the tabbouleh and shared the baba ghannouj which actually filled me! I appreciate the tabbouleh's presentation My friends ordered the waffle and crepe pictured. I was pretty envious of how big the crepe was and am telling myself it's time to go back to order them for myself too!

Atmosphere / ambience - awesome Service - awesome Food - awesome Price - reasonable

Eggs Benedict for $13. Overcooked egg, unacceptable. UPDATE: Charles from Madison called and made things right.

Was about to write a scathing review re. overcooked eggs on my Eggs Benedict but Charles from Madison saw the pic. I posted and called and made it right already by offering another Eggs Benedict or credit for next time. Impressive response time and I appreciate the call to make things right.

I heard about Madison Cafe & Grill from a take-out menu flier left at my work. This 4 start rating is for a specific menu item (pickup/takeout). Today I had the Falafel Sandwich. I've had a version of this sandwich countless times. It's a favorite of mine and wanted to give it a try here. MC&G falafel sandwich was very good in an unexpected way. The way I've usually had this sandwich is pretty straight forward - falafel, salad, tahini, hummus in a pita/wrap. The one I had today was a little different w/ the addition of pickles, pickled turnips and mint. For me the pickles added just as much flavor as the falafel- maybe too much (?)...still wondering about that... It was unexpected but I really enjoyed it. The pickle/tahini flavor is delicious. The falafel itself was very good - not great - but very good. It was a wrap vs. a stuffed pita. The ratio of the hummus/tahini/hummus/salad was perfect. Overall, a really good lunch - not to mention a very nice value at $6. I'll most likely be back. I'm curious about other menu items- at the same time, I could picture myself getting the falafel sandwich again.

Madison Cafe & Grill is a quaint little cafe in Cresskill right by the Sunrise assisted living complex. The restaurant has nice ambiance and decor. It also has outdoor seating available when the weather is warm. My wife and I came here for breakfast and was very impressed with the experience. They have an extensive menu and offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We each ordered an eggs platter (+Taylor ham and sausage) and got a vanilla pecan waffle to share. The eggs were cooked perfectly to our specification, and the waffle was fantastic. The pecan acted as a nice accent to the waffle and the vanilla ice-cream just took it to heavenly status. The staff was friendly and our food came in a timely fashion. Prices were fair and there's ample parking outside. We will definitely return to try some of the other menu items.

Great place with excellent service, I came here for a birthday of a friend, I was amazed how good the food was, and the service was amazing, the people here are very friendly, my syrup bottle had issues but as soon they saw me struggling with the bottle they brought another one and apologized for the inconvenience. I will definitely be back here

The two times I've been in, they've brought out samples of thier menu items to try. The selection is sizable, and offers items you won't find in a regular grocery store. I stocked up on spices, and coffee. Prices are reasonable, and portions are generous. The restaurant has an interesting history. Even though the original opened in Cresskill, NJ, it unfortunately has permanently closed. However, not only is the Edgewater location amazing, but it had the guts to open during COVID (2022), survived, and is succeeding. The restaurant is beautiful inside and outside. Their decorations are tasteful, the presentation of the food is award winning, and the service is stellar. I started with a Mocha Cappuccino and it was so good. Served in a large mug, an airy/creamy top, and had the perfect amount of mocha happiness throughout. Before the meal even started, we were graciously given Za'atar (a popular Middle Eastern spice blend with an earthy, tangy, and nutty flavor, toasted sesame seeds, and sumac, with salt). It was crunchy, drizzled with oil, and I enjoyed how each thin pita bite made the spices explode all over the table. The entrees were: Strawberry French Toast. The next was the Falafel Platter (chickpeas and fava bean balls, served with tahini sauce, pickles, turnips, tomato, and mint). The last selection was the Avocado Toast (Citrus cured salmon over multigrain bread, tomatoes, onions, capers & citrus vinaigrette). Not only were all of these dishes beautifully presented, but all were filling, as well. My Avocado Toast kept me full for the rest of the day and the salmon was enjoyably salty, thin, and delicious. I noticed a dessert in their display case and ordered it. The dessert was the Riz Bil Ashta (Lebanese rice cream, infused with orange blossom water, blended with milk and cheese, and topped with crushed pistachios). This dessert tasted like a regal custard and the pistachios added an enjoyable texture that makes it recommended. Of course, I had to cap the meal with a Mocchiato. This amazing beverage followed the rest of the meal..... delicious, eyes closed good, and every sip was full-flavored. Thank you, Madison Café and Grill, for presenting a memorable meal and I wish you continued success.

Rather than immediately posting a public review, I contacted management privately because I believed they deserved the opportunity to address the situation professionaly. Their initial response was that they would review the incident internally. After I followed up, they specifically offered to send me a complete ingredient list for everything we ordered so I could review it with my healthcare provider. I accepted that offer but, the ingredient list was never sent. Months later, there has still been no meaningful follow-up. My frustration isn't about demanding compensation or proving what caused the reaction. It's about customer care and accountability. Making promises that are never fulfilled leaves the impression that guest concerns only matter until the bill is paid. Once our $471 tab was settled, the commitment to help simply disappeared. The food and atmosphere may attract people, but how a restaurant responds when something goes wrong is what defines its hospitality. Unfortunately, based on my experience, the follow-through did not match the promises made, and I can't recommend a restaurant that handled a serious guest safety concern this way. Its NYC, 1000s of restaurants will charge less serve higher quality ingredients and treat you with greater hospitality, and this place is located in midtown east.

I went last night after a concert at the MetLife stadium near by. Once we were seated they brought out plates for the table and every one of the four plates given to us had charcoal dust on them, which isn't alarming at an establishment that serves hookah. We asked the waitress LAMIA if she can change the plates, Immediately she caught an attitude. She was adamant they weren't dirty but went to get us new plates as requested. The great thing about outside seating at this establishment is that the windows are wide open so you can see inside. We watched as LAMIA walked over to her coworkers to complain, stomp her foot and have an attitude driven tantrum while she filled them in on our request for new plates. For the rest of dinner we were greeted with the rudest attitude and treatment of distain from this server. She didn't want to speak with us. She didn't want to serve us. Thank you for runing our night LAMIA. She even brought the check over while we were mid eating our dinner, put it on the table and walked away without a word. Rushing us out without even acknowledgement. Paying $200 for a meal with that sort of treatment makes for an interesting end to our evening. We were raised with manners so we continued to be polite and thank her each time she dropped off an item. Makes me question if our food was tampered with because we even found a piece of hair in our meal. We all have long jet black hair down our backs so this hair definitely was not ours. But didn't feel comfortable to speak up due to the treatment we were already receiving. The service industry is for those who enjoy curating a space of fun and enjoyment for consumers. I would think twice about going to this establishment if you're looking for a good time.

Great for groups of all sizes, reservations suggested but on this weekday visit, it was not too busy. We had a resy any way. Service was fair. Our waiter checked in with us once after we ordered and we had to beckon him twice - once for water refill and second for condiments/questions. What I didn't appreciate but understood, since we were two people dining, we got a corner table for two. It was not busy so we asked for the table next to us since we ordered plenty. They did not accommodate us saying they may need it for later. I did not think that was necessary since the place was not busy. This was 6pm on a Wednesday. And to boot, huge dining room - plenty of seating available. This was off putting as we said we ordered plenty. Our plates barely fit and they brought everything almost at once. Onto the food, I may not have ordered their popular dishes but nevertheless, nothing to rave about. Portions were shareable but it was just okay. There was not one stand out dish. I had higher expectations based on other reviews and photos but it was likely what we ordered. This was a vegetarian meal for me since I was dining with a vegetarian. - Moussakaa, this was a very tomato based sauce dish. Fried eggplant and chick peas combined had a nice texture. Mild flavors. - Arayess cheese - sorely disappointed. Very little flavor and I love my cheeses. It needed something to make it more appealing. It literally looked like cheese in a pita. And yes, by description it was. No condiments or side of anything to offset the plating. Visually flat. It could've used a sun dried tomato paste or some acidic side dipping sauce. - Yara Fries - shockingly simple, zaatar and spices. But they didn't put enough. It still looked like regular fries. And by the name, I expected more punch of flavor. It was not there. - Falafel - tricky dish if it's not cooked well. Simple again by name but the ingredients were just mild in flavor. Crunch was perfect. The chickpea, onions, cilantro and garlic was not pronounced. It was ok. Not memorable. - House wine, by the glass, decent and went well with what we ate. Would I return is the question... Likely not. The menu was so promising but nothing to bring me back.
