We stopped in for breakfast because we were passing. This place does not disappoint. The staff and service were both wonderful. My cafe latte was absolutely perfect and hit the spot. I had the most delicious marscapone and strawberry stuffed crepe, and my husband had 2 eggs over easy with Turkey sausage , home fries and toast . Everything was perfect. Best eggs benedict I've found in the area. I usually go with the florentine made with sauteed spinach, poached eggs, hollandaise, on an english muffin and served with perfectly crisp, tender, flavorful home fries. The Crepes are also great and a sizeable portion. The Banana Berry is my go-to with Nutella, Bananas, Strawberries, and crushed nuts. Other notable items are the Vanilla Pecan Belgian Waffle served with vanilla ice cream and the Strawberry Grilled Chicken Salad from the lunch menu. They serve a delicious fresh oj unlike most other places and their smoothie drinks are also very good. My friend tells me she loves the hummus and dips that come with the platters though I have yet to try personally. The only item I would not recommend at all, which dampened my first experience here, is the kebab wrap. It exhibited some very strange and unpleasant flavors on top of an overall charcoal taste which I do not wish to return to. The manager and staff have always been courteous and approachable. Sadly, for my sake, breakfast ends in the early afternoon. I wish they would consider making it "all day" since it's the best part of their menu. read more

This was a really good cafe. Food and desserts were both really good. Ordered the mix grill. Some of the best meat kabab I ever had. Chicken kabab was average and the kafta was really juicy and flavorful. The rice had a great flavor, moist yet also a bit well done. The fries were surprisingly great. Ordered the knefah for dessert but they were out unfortunately they were out. Opted instead for the lava cake which was good and the mascarpone + strawberry crepe which was one of the best crepes I've ever tried. Would've gave 5 stars but the service needed work. Accidentally came across this place. A little cafe with a great food!!! Though we could only eat outside and I usually don't, our servant made it comfortable for us. At one point, we had an uninvited guest, a bee. Our waiter, Camilo, noticed this and immediately attended to the situation with candles and asked us if we need sprays and was smart enough to pour some syrup on a plate to a nearby table so that the bee would find it's own table. I regret not taking any pictures, but the waffle with ice-cream and the eggs benedict was sooo good that I forgot to take any pics until after I finished it. We also had the crepe and it was perfect! Not too thick like some places. Just perfect. As I've always thought to myself, little places take pride in their food where as chain stores are just a cookie cutter. I heard my friend had taken another friend to eat there today and this place is definitely consistant and solid with their food. Hope you will enjoy it as much as I did!! I was hoping this place would be good because it's in a convenient location for me, has ample parking, and has an outdoor seating area. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to grab lunch to go. Ordered a kafta kebab sandwich, paid my bill and walked around while I waited, only about 10 minutes. The sandwich was on a thin Flatbread, not as thick as pita, with hummus, onions, pickles and an undercooked kafta. It wasn't even warm in the middle so I had to reheated it. The flavor was good but it wasn't worth the $8. It's too bad really, the place has a decent menu and looks really nice inside. Maybe I'll give it another chance eventually but I won't be rushing over. read more

In honor of Snoop Dogg performing in Jersey City for 4th of July, I'll speak bluntly. My shish kabab sandwich only had 4 cubes of filet mignon. I've seen more beef with Drake & Pusha T, which is a sad comparison on multiple levels. My wife's chicken kabab sandwich was tough to chew, almost rubbery. I'm not a professional chef but even I know this is easily prevented by evening out the chicken breast before you cook it. To be fair, some bites were bursting with flavor. The staff is extremely professional and delivery arrived on time. If anything, I'll come back for the lamb grape leaves (from the mezza platter). I can eat those for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! read more

Have gone twice so far and very happy both times! It's a great little spot with some outdoor seats and run by a lovely Lebanese family...and BYOB! Most everything is made fresh daily in-house...including the best hummus!! Homemade Knafeh for desert, which my husband loves. Decided to find a new place today with my family. Very happy to have found Madison Cafe. The ambiance is very quaint and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and attentive. What a wonderful place to find in cresskill! Camilo is warm and welcoming and the breakfast was superb. I had a pita dish called maneek something and my girlfriend had an omelette with Mediterranean sausage and spinach. We combined the two and couldn't be happier. Went for the mixed appetizer (choice of 3 items) - falafel was killer and likely the best I've tried in Bergen county, babaganoush was fantastic and stuffed grape leaves were very good. Kids had burgers, very good and large portions. Wife had the chicken kabob, cooked to perfection and flavorful. I had the mixed grill which includes filet mignon kabob, chicken kabob and one other grilled meat - served with potent garlic sauce and grilled veggies. Absolutely wonderful dish and enough to walk out of the place in a food coma. Why only 4 stars? Service was just mediocre. When I asked a few questions about the menu items, the server gave one-word "yeah" answers. Not helpful at all and didn't seem very attentive to our table - had to ask for water refills, didn't ask about dessert, etc. If they could improve the service, this place is very easily a 5-star restaurant. read more

Just came back from a quick dinner here with my wife. The menu is a good mix of Mediterranean food and typical diner sandwiches. Usually this is not a good sign, because it means it doesn't specialize in anything, but I was pleasantly surprised to find how great the food is. Everything my wife and I ordered ordered were fresh and sort of homey. Wife had mezza platter of hummus, baba ganush, and grape leaves w/ lamb rice. Hummus was excellent, baba ganush was good except I wanted more smokey flavor, and the homemade grape leaves actually tasted like it was made at home. My avocado BLT was made with very fresh ingredients, and it felt like a very healthy sandwich. We were also very excited that the baklava here was probably one of the best we had. Better than some we had in Greece and Turkey. Not sugary sweet. Crunch. Nutty. It was so good that we picked up a couple to go for breakfast. Service was on point and caring. The bathroom was very clean. In fact, the whole place looked very clean. Glad to find a quality Mediterranean restaurant in this neighborhood. I was in the area visiting my mother for the holidays, and came upon this gem. We had breakfast there, and the service, selection of food, portions, and prices were truly excellent! Excellent ambiance as well, with a mix of tables and booths. And the restaurant was largely full, which is always a good sign. Came here after we realized that Farmhouse Cafe across the street only served brunch food on the weekend. Their iced coffee and coffee have free refill, and their food menu range from breakfast and brunch food to Mediterranean meal platters. We tried their brunch food (crepe and omelette), which hit our breakfast cravings without being overpriced like other brunch spots. Will definitely come back and try their lunch and dinner food!
