I wanted to love Zendiggi, but this was a huge miss. I ordered the chicken and steak kebab platters to go. Each platter had four pieces of meat as the half portion and 99% of the platter was rice. The meat wasn't well seasoned. I also ordered the wings, which were so charred that I couldn't eat them. Each bite had a burnt taste. The only positive of the meal was the hot sauce- very spicy and added 100% of the flavor to the meat. I'm glad I asked for it, or else the meal would have been worse than it was. I grew up in Closter. Was in the neighborhood so we stopped in because we love Mediterranean. It's cute snd has a nice vibe. The staff was friendly and nice. And it's got convenient parking. The food unfortunately was just okay. I got the kuhbideh kebab - ground beef and lamb on a skewer. My bf got the beef and chicken combo. I got the two skewers. The portion size of the meat for the price is small. Taste wise they were meh. Nothing bad. But not yummy tasty. They weren't as tasty as I have usually experienced with kebabs. They are generous with the rice but unfortunately it was very bland. The side salad I got was fresh and the sauces are good. All in all it's okay if it's local and you're not all that picky. So happy I stumbled upon Zendiggi on instagram! I have been wanting to try it for a while and we finally made it there last night! We ended up trying a bunch of items off the menu and each one was better than the next. The wings were tender and flavorful. The empanadas were cooked perfectly and filled! I hate when places skimp on the filling but not the case here. I legit couldn't stop picking at the Mediterranean fries. The sultan platter was huge and all 3 meats were on point and a very generous amount of food for the platter. Well worth the price. And lastly was the shakshouka. This is never something I would order but it came highly recommended and it did not disappoint!! A must try in deed! Restaurant was clean, staff is friendly and accommodating. I was headed to a brewery this evening that has great beer but they do not serve food. Instead, they encourage people to bring whatever they'd like to eat from other restaurants. I've been craving shawarma the last few days and the gyro I enjoyed at the Reading Terminal Market didn't satisfy the craving. So this evening, I stopped by Zendiggi, placed an order at the counter and waited. A big shout out to the dude who was working the register this evening. He helped me adjust my order to go a bit lower carb (hooray for keto diet), offered some recommendations, and asked if I wanted cutlery. I appreciate that they're not just tossing plasticware in the bag that might go to waste. Oh, and he offered a glass of water for me while I was waiting. Great service. Unwrapping my dinner a few minutes later at Five Dimes, it was very good. A good serving of sliced doner meat on top of a big pile of fresh tabbouleh. The meat was tasty, warm and plenty of it though perhaps a bit dry. A bit of the tzatziki sauce on the side and it was great. The salad was fresh and crisp and had just the right amount of moisture. I saw this place on Tiktok & it looked awesome so why not give it a try. Overall there are a lot of options to choose from & the vibe inside is great. But - I've eaten at a lot of Mediterranean spots & this one was good but just okay. Pretty pricey but I guess there isn't much competition around. The empanadas are unique and good but small for 2 for 13.99. They have a mayo based crema which is okay. Their in-house hot sauce has a habanero flavor with a little kick. We popped into this place for the first time this evening. We weren't seeking anything fancy by no means but we didn't realize what kind of place this was. I should have read reviews first and seen pics (if available). I didn't realize this place was like a diner/fast food take out kinda place. Basically the food was good and filling but I guess they better be for about $20 a platter. I can't find reasons to justify their prices. I don't mind the $20 at all. I just really didn't know what to expect from the exterior. I had somewhat envisioned a better looking place for the price. My husband and I were both disappointed. We ordered up front, paid quickly and went out back to dine. When we got out back we realized they had made the best of the CoVid situation by having a large good quality tent, tables and pretty led hanging lights out back. (I am not knocking the outside area at all!) I am, however, trying to justify their pricing even for the indoor section which seemed by far, run down and dated. Anyhow, the young lady at the counter who took our order and brought it to our table out back was sweet. The food came out rather quickly and we enjoyed our food. My husband wasn't wowed by his platter but I really did enjoy ours. I have, however, had MUCH better gyro platters nearby but perhaps we just aren't familiar with this style and expected more of a Greek/Mediterranean taste. Anyhow, not bad but now wowed. Just MEH for us and we most likely won't be returning for a while. We just had a party for about 25 people on Saturday and Zendiggi catered with chicken, beef, two salads and rice. Everything was tasty and so enjoyable to eat. We always say, though, that we wish one place could offer chicken as juicy as the ones from Zendiggi and yogurt dip as thick as the one from Dayinin Yeri in Cliffside Park. The yogurt dip here is too watery for our liking. We've tried other sides like the tabbouleh salad, the salad from the half platter, pita and yogurt dip, and fries, but that's not why we come here. I do like this place as it offers some unique Persian (Iranian) cuisine, but I feel like it was more of a diner than a kabob house. Great staff that are very friendly and accommodating. Located in a town that does not have much action so typically this spot tends to do well with the locals. As for a Yelper like myself I needed more to justify the prices of their dishes, and to give a better presentation. When you purchase 1 plate you get either 1 or 2 skewers. I went with the 2 skewer (1 kubideh and 1 beef kabob), with 50/50 rice and salad. Definitely one of the tastiest meat selection I've had, and worth the visit to try....but.... Their signature kubideh is tasty, but not much meat on the skewer to leave you fulfilled. The beef cubed kabobs were tender and flavorful with a light seasoning. The taste of the meats are delicious, but leaves your taste buds hungry for more. Some issues I noticed was the gyro was like the Mediterranean style (Greek), not shawarma. The falafel was a little over cooked. Hummus was a bit dry. The rice was served cold. The salad was plain (no dressing). The calamata olives tasted sour. AND, my platter combo did not come with the yogurt or tahini sauce as stated on the menu.... In fact no condiments came out with the main entree's (ie: sumac, lime, pickled radish, onions) as traditional Persian food comes with these sides. Good. I stopped in to pick up a lunch, as I was craving something light yet flavorful and authentic. I ordered a half size chicken kebab platter with a Shirazi salad, although I did mean to order a 50/50 shirazi (but I'll order that next time). The platter is a fresh cucumber, tomato, onion, and parsley salad with grilled cubes of chicken on top. It's a very plain dish, but it is truly uplifted by a minty yogurt sauce. It was good. However, the amount of chicken was not impressive for the price of $16+ (add in $1.50 for the salad). For the price, I would have hoped for a little more protein in a dish, especially if it's just chicken. read more

My all time favorite dish is Kubideh kabob, made of lamb, beef, and unique spices, and it is grilled with charcoal giving extreme pleasures less than $20. Their housemade hot sauce is the bomb and has a lot of habanero pepper that can hurt you in bathroom. The layout of platter is perfect mixture with veggies and carbs that will fill you for a while. I've gotta be honest, kebabs are a little outside of my comfort zone. But I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try for lunch one day. Oh my goodness, my lunch was absolutely delicious! I had the chicken sandwich on a pita with hummus and I'm still salivating just thinking about it. Fresh ingredients and a perfect pita... yum! I've been to Zendiggi a few times and have enjoyed it. From the get-go the prices were already slightly high but was okay with it since it's located in a more affluent area. I went there today and ordered my normal half platter. I had noticed disclaimers that prices went up due to the pandemic but every price was crossed off on the menu so it was sort of a mystery. I expected an increase on my order but was shocked to see that the price had practically DOUBLED. Now I'm aware places are struggling during these trying times so some increase is understandable. I can't believe I have lived nearby my entire life and never tried this place! I decided to order from here on a whim and I'm so glad I did. I ordered chicken gyro, the chicken shawarma empanadas, and Mediterranean fries. My brother and I split all of this and it was more than enough to share. We ended up having leftovers. The food was fresh, flavorful, and they give good portions. I especially recommend the empanadas that come with the best pickled turnips that I can't stop thinking about.
