This week, I went in for my routine six-month cleaning and X-rays. Everything went well, and I was told my X-rays looked great. Before I left, however, a new dentist came in for a quick exam and told me I needed two dental procedures within the next couple of weeks. It didn't feel quite right, but I trusted the recommendation and scheduled the appointment. Something continued to bother me, so I sought a second opinion from a prosthodontist. After a thorough evaluation, she told me the recommended procedures were unnecessary and strongly advised me not to move forward with them. I called West End Dental Associates to express my concerns. I was told the dentist I saw was a new hire and that the head dentist would call me the following day to discuss the situation. Unfortunately, I never received that call. What concerns me most is not just that I was given what another dental specialist considered poor clinical advice, but also the complete lack of follow-up after I raised my concerns. That experience has caused me to lose confidence in the practice, and I will be taking my dental care elsewhere.

The office and staff are wonderful and Dr. Akhavan took her time to explain everything i need to know about my teeth, jaw, tongue etc. I did not even feel that I was getting my teeth cleaned because she is very gentle and she definitely has magic hands. She takes her work very seriously and does not push anything on you that you do not need. Prior to Dr. Akhavan I was told that I have a few cavities which turned out to be false. I totally trust her judgement and she cares about what is best for the patient and is very honest. Most importantly I left really feeling that my teeth and mouth are healthy. I went in for a crown and Dr. Benjamin said I didn't need a root canal. Boy was he wrong. I was in a lot of pain for a while. I ended up getting a root canal. Unfortunately Dr. Black the dentist that did the root canal went right thru into the bone but he didn't tell me. He just said that the tool for the root canal broke but it would be fine. Funny things is that they made me sign a small piece of paper before I left that technically said stuff happens. On my next visit I told them I was still in pain but he said it takes time for the pain to go away. It never did. After a year I ended up with an abscess and loosing my tooth because the Doctor lied. It cost me almost $2,500.00 for pain and loosing my tooth. Dr. Benjamin said he was going to give an implant at a discount but never did. That is the same thing that happened when Dr. Black said that the tool broke in my tooth. Dr. Benjamin said he was going to call a specialist to see what could be done and he never did.

In addition to the cleaning, they gave me thorough visual evaluation, and x-rays and although I found the cost to be relatively high, but I recognized that this covered more than just a cleaning, so I proceeded with paying. Subsequently, they recommended a second visit for a deeper cleaning, which was performed not by a dentist, but by their dental hygienist. To my astonishment, the invoice for this visit was twice the amount of my initial visit -- and at quadruple what is a reasonable charge. I would not have gone had I been informed that the fee would be $1,100... for a cleaning. I would not have agreed to this treatment as I only discovered this after the hygienist was finished and I was billed. I never experienced this issue my preivous dentists, in the 15-20+ years that I was their patient. I never needed to inquire about the charges before service was performed as their charges were always reasonable . Deeply concerned about the billing, I attempted to reach out to their office to discuss the matter numerous times. I left messages via phone calls (three times) and text messages (three times) without receiving any response. Effective communication is crucial in any professional relationship, especially in health care. The lack of response to my multiple attempts to discuss my concerns about the exorbitant invoice reflects a lack of courtesy and responsiveness that I find disheartening. It also concerns me that should I require emergency service I would be unable to receive it. As a conscientious consumer, I could not justify continuing with a dental service that not only grossly overcharges its patients but also fails to address their concerns in a timely and respectful manner. I believe that fair pricing and open communication are fundamental aspects of any reputable health care practice.

I was an incredible pain Which followed for the next three days until I was able to get painkillers from friends. I would never ever go back to this dentist.
