Me and my boyfriend stayed here in a standard queen room for four nights and by the time we left we were pretty happy with our stay. I had some concerns initially but I will share my pros and cons. Pros- very clean room and bathroom, awesome service, comfy bed, and nice roof top area Cons- veryyy small room, super thin walls, and our door had a bit of a gap from the wall so it didn't feel as secure Before we arrived I asked if we could have a fridge in our room and they were super nice and made sure one was brought up before we checked in. I realized once we got in our room that it was not plugged in and there was nowhere to put it where it could reach an outlet. We ended up having them remove it because it took up too much space and we were fine without it. We also had them take out the desk chair so that we could put some of our stuff there and maximize the space. The last thing I noticed after checking in was that our security/privacy latch was not fully screwed into the wall and was just jiggling on the doorframe but when I brought it to their attention they replaced it immediately. The staff was super nice and accommodating and by the end of our stay I was very pleased. read more

This was one of my worst experiences at a hotel. The rooms are extremely small, clean but extremely small but I but for the price that's not too bad. There are absolutely no vending machines. The customer service I non existent. Everything I needed for my room I had to ask for or was missing from the initial check in. The "Breakfast" is bread and bagels and a broken juice machine. The entire stay was extremely noisy because staff are constantly moving things around, "cleaning" or just talking obnoxiously loud! So there was no real relaxation what so ever. Not the worst hotel but the experience was. Will not recommend 0/10 read more

My sisters and I stayed here while in NYC for a trip together and Madison LES Hotel was lovely! The AC in the rooms works great, the breakfast options while limited were perfect for us, and the views from the rooftop were absolutely amazing. Perfect spot to pick up some dinner and sit on the couches on the rooftop and enjoy the beautiful city together. It's right next to chinatown so I really recommend walking over to Jin Mei's Dumplings (get the pan fried they come with 15 for $5 and they're delicious) grabbing some dinner and enjoying it back at this hotel. They have tea bags and ice on the floor where breakfast is served at and we definitely utilized our opportunity to drink some tea every night. If I stay in the lower east side again for our next trip, I will definitely be looking into staying here again:) read more

I found decent prices for a single traveler on agoda when my Airbnb fell through. Unpretentious homey place (almost feels like my own little studio apartment) with approachable mom & pop presenting Asian employees and snacks for purchase in lobby. Clean modern furniture, firm clean white bed, and all the amenities you'd need for a comfortable stay in the lower east side. Walking distance from lots of Chinatown restaurants, laundromat, and a really beautiful wework on water st for business travelers. Complimentary breakfast is 6:30-10:30am and is pretty minimal pastries and cereal type deal but at least it's there. Overall it suited my needs perfectly and I felt sufficiently taken care of! read more

This hotel is too small for my liking. There was barely any room for my luggage. I just wonder why they cramp everything up and still charge so much per night? I also did not like the fact that early check-in was $70 per room. I came in around noon, and check in was at 3 PM. Why the heck would you charge so much to have early check-in by only three hours?! I mean, even American hotels would let you have free early check-in! I wouldn't stay in Chinatown again next time for sure. Side note: Cafe in basement where they serve breakfast doesn't have eggs, but they have cup noodles. read more

Yuck. Never again. Stayed in a Standard Queen on the first floor. Can barely walk in the room as it is as small as a closet. Floors are tile, so not very cozy. CABLE tv is really bad quality. And overnight was SO LOUD. Could hear loud music, people crying, and banging. Could not sleep. The coffee by the front desk was cold. And the neighborhood is ugly. Would not go back. With tax and fees it came to $154, however you are also charged an extra $20 at check in for "resort fee," which just means someone to come in and make your bed, which no one did for us as we only stayed a night. I also thought that was just supposed to come with the price of a hotel room.. lol? Anyway, not going back. Pro: front desk staff are very sweet. They were the best. read more

I booked this off of Hotwire.com wanting to get a good deal in NYC. Our room was in a small hallway with no other rooms around. I felt, as a woman traveling, very unsafe. There was black paint on our door and right next to door was the trash exit. I wish that it worked out but it was all around a strange and scary experience. read more

The front desk was friendly, our rooms were spacious and clean, and the location was not too bad! Only critiques I would give would have to be the showers. Location is great if you are price sensitive or want to experience a different area of NYC near Chinatown and the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges but it comes with its challenges. Hotel - the room was small but clean. Nice extras like drinks and snacks always available for sale in the lobby - very handy at the end of a long day when you need to hydrate. The breakfast area was appreciated to get your day started with some toast or fruit and a quick coffee. The cleaning of the rooms (we stayed 6 nights) was minimal - bed straightened, towels changed - little bar of soap was never replenished - we didn't say at the desk because we wanted to see if it ever would be - it wasn't - we bought soap. The location is an area I have never stayed - there are not a lot of hotels in the Lower East side. We found some great restaurants in the area like Forgtmenot 2 streets over but of course there are lots of Chinese restaurants but they close early. Transportation was challenging. The f train to EBroadway is one block but not a block for traveller's after dark. We were warned of this night 1 by police officers. The advantage of being in the F train line is coming in from LA Guardia - direct train ride from the bus on that end. We shifted to the Grand train stop 3 blocks over - better lit and traveled route. The M15 bus stops across the street but this was under construction when we were there - would have been great otherwise - this takes you directly to South Ferry and is a quick walk from one of the stops to the Memorial area. Heading uptown the M15 takes you all the way but you are on the upper east side with a 4-6 block into the centre. We enjoyed our stay. Would recommend for price conscious as long as you are ready for travel times around Manhattan. read more

A hidden gem on the lower east side! Our one night stay included a spacious room with refrigerator and free breakfast...which is unheard of in Manhattan! This hotel is newer but definitely all about hospitality! The breakfast area is located in the basement. It's clean with contemporary decor. There's also a gym on that level as well. There's a rooftop terrace with astroturfing and decent views of the bridge to the side of the property. It is a comfortable area with tables and chairs for lounging with a cocktail. The shower in our room was my only issue. It took 15 minutes to get warm. The water in the sink ran brown at first but we assumed the room had not been used in a bit. The shower had craft stones glued to the wall which could've been cute if they weren't surrounded by mildew. The shower itself had not been cleaned very well either. We booked through the Hoteltonight app with a really good price point of under 100. The area may not be one to walk around in but not positive. Overall, I'd recommend a stay here. Especially a multiple day stay. The mini fridge and free breakfast alone make it beyond worth it! Solid 4 stars! read more

Not a luxury five star hotel but a good five star hotel. No problem with check-in they had my reservation. I got room 508. It is a little small but cozy. AC worked great. Came with a pair of slipper, toiletries and a hair dryer. Towel soft and clean. Bathroom was clean. Bed was clean and soft. I had a good stay even if just for overnight. The wifi need a little work and a smart tv would have made it better. Also included is breakfast with toast, waffles, bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit, an assortment of juices, coffee and tea. Whole milk was not whole milk but I let that slide. Breakfast from 6am to 10am. Also have a small gym with a few machine and weights and a roof deck. By far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. I came to NYC to celebrate my birthday with my family this past weekend and this ruined it. First, we were given a suite on the top floor. When we got to the suite, it absolutely reeked of cigarettes (after paying for a non-smoking room). In explaining this situation to the lady at the front desk, we were given two options to move (one of which would cost us $100 more per night). We opted for the room with the two double beds which turned out to be a double and a twin, absolutely not able to accommodate four grown adults. When addressing this issue again, they repeatedly tried to charge us for upgrading to a room with three queens. While this was a bigger room, we did not ask for this upgrade and only had to move twice because of the failure to accommodate us, receiving a proper room after 3 full hours. After finally getting settled in and returning to our room the next day the same lady had the audacity to ask us to delete our bad reviews (which we hadn't even posted yet) in exchange for receiving the upgrade for "free" (hotels.com paid for it). So beyond unprofessional and a complete waste of time and money. For the love of god avoid this hotel at all costs. read more

If you're looking for a place to lay your head at night then this place is ok. I'll start with the good. The staff was friendly and helpful. I arrived about 2 hours before check-in time and they let me check-in early. I felt safe in the area and it's just a few short blocks walk to the nearest subway station. I didn't get a chance to try out any of the Chinese restaurants in the area but there appeared to be some good options. There's a fantastic pizza restaurant (Scarr's Pizza) about an 8-10 min walk away. The hotel also has a rooftop if you want to just sit and enjoy the views. However, there were a few things that would make me look elsewhere when choosing accommodations the next time I visit. - The fridge was noisy. It kept making a sporadic clicking noise which startled me out of my sleep a few times. - My room had a tiled floor and the floors weren't cleaned very well. - The shower is insanely small and poorly designed. The ledge should come up a little higher or bring down the shower curtain rod/ get longer shower curtains. Each time I took a shower there was a pool of water on the bathroom floor when I got out. I had a room with one bed so I'm not sure if the showers are a little bigger in rooms with two beds. In addition, the water temperature was inconsistent. The water in the shower would get scalding hot while the water in the sink would get lukewarm at best. Also, the shower water temperature would fluctuate and suddenly get hotter. - There's no safe in the room. - The breakfast is trash. I've had better breakfast choices in a hospital. The breakfast is continental so it's your typical waffles, cereal, bagels, yogurt, etc. I'm vegan and the only thing I could eat was an orange. Yes, that's the only fruit they had and they weren't even sweet. No apples or bananas. I could eat a bagel but they only had cream cheese and butter. No vegan options. read more

I booked this hotel as my second hotel of the stay in NYC not sure what to expect. However following the days before my trip , workers from this hotel reached out to me and confirmed and asked if there was anything they can do to accommodate me as I stayed there. Communication between both parties were amazing! We checked in @ 3PM , got our keys and went upstairs. As a lot of other reviews stated the rooms are small , honestly I have no issues with it at all. I was just using the hotel as a place to sleep for the night so as long as the entire place is CLEAN, I got no issues. The room we got was very basic and standard, came with two beds and a TV. Overall small , but CLEAN. The hotel is near Chinatown so if you want to check out a lot of the markets around this place it's pretty neat, there is also a metro fairly close to this hotel as well (which is SUPER CONVENIENT) There is always someone in the front desk , also I forgot the exact time , but pass a certain time you need to use your key to enter the building. Overall my entire stay was amazing , it was really nice and the workers at this hotel really knew how to make people feel at home. PS** They also have free breakfast at certain times! Only minor issue , the room is a bit small, but hey it's clean, I'd take a smaller room that is clean allday any day over a room that is more spacious but is dirty. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I stayed at Madison LES New York for 1 night, and it was the worst hotel "stay" of my entire life. Upon entering the hotel, it is very small and dirty. It felt more like a motel to be honest. I stuck it out because I was only staying for a night. I checked my bags into my room, and had to leave within an hour for dinner. Later that evening, I returned back to the hotel and the woman at the front desk told me she would have to escort me up to my room because there was an "accident" and my card didn't work anymore. I was very confused and asked her to please make me a new card so I can access my room. She said she could not do that, and she needed to escort me up so I could change rooms. I said no thank you, please make me a new card so I can access my things, and I can decide if I want to change rooms. She would not tell me what happened. I finally agreed to have them escort me, and when they opened my room door, I was shocked by what I saw. There was some kind of liquid covering the entire floor, there were holes in the walls, part of the ceiling was missing, and all of my things were soaked, and had been handled by somebody and moved around the room. I have never seen anything like this in my life (please look at the photos). By this time it was 1am and I had nowhere else to go. I asked them to tell me what happened and the only thing they could tell me was the "sprinklers went off". I knew this was not true because the walls were smashed in. It was clear there was some kind of a break- in. They refused to give me a refund and offered me a different room, but said there was nothing they could do. I am requesting a refund, in addition to compensation for my damaged items. I have not heard from anyone, but I am hoping this gets their attention before I am forced to take them to small claims court. Don't stay here. read more

The absolute worst hotel experience I've ever had. You'd be better off at the Cecil hotel from the Netflix documentary. Also read the Google reviews first! They are liars! Their website is false. They won't send you an email confirmation and then when you arrive, try to tell you that you booked something different. AND your price will increase at arrival. We booked a TWO BED, 1 SOFA SUITE & when we arrived they not only increased the price from booking but also tried to shove us in a small room with ONE BED. The man said they didn't even have rooms with two beds. When we showed him what the site said, he then changed his story to, "oh, well those aren't available." THAT IS WHAT WE BOOKED! They are absolutely liars and do horrible business. Told us we could leave and receive a full refund which they are now not giving because they are saying someone showered. (I turned the water on to make sure this dump actually had working water). And to top it ALL OFF I am Now reading Google reviews where everyone has the same complaints... WOULD GIVE 0 STARS IF I COULD! Please, whatever you do, DON'T stay here. They are false advertising on their website to what you can expect from your stay. They say there is a business center and have a picture up online, there is no business center. There is a basement cafeteria and the manager told us that "everyone expects something different". I just expect the pictures to match what I see in person. The rooms are dark and not spacious as they appear on their website. In addition, the manager has no sense of customer service and is just trying to get more money out of you. I've stayed at many hotels and this was the WORST experience by a landslide. This place is a very well located dump. It's clean enough with comically small rooms that have random furniture shoved in on a loud street. They will also only hold your luggage after check out for a limited number of hours that day, despite flying late at night, which is the first in my experience for a hotel I have been staying in. If you don't care about the room and amenities and just want a lean cheap safe bed got a couple nights this is good though. read more

Great staff, very clean room and hotel overall and great complementary breakfast. Had a one night stay and at check-in we had no problems the lady at the front desk was very helpful and cordial. Hotel was clean and very eye-catching from the lobby, elevator and even our room. The next morning we had breakfast compliments of the hotel and it was great! So we're supposed to get a 2 queens room, got more of a room like a closet with a plank along one wall with a queen and twin. Our neighbors started talking at 4 am, walls thin. My stay at this hotel was absolutely delightful. All of the staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel was very clean. They made sure we stayed fully stocked with all of the necessary toiletries even though we had our own. The entrance and elevator can only be accessed by room key card, that and the presence of a guard on duty at all times assisted in making us feel safe. The working thermostat in our room made it easy to control the temperature(this is a problem I normally have at hotels). We had a refrigerator and a microwave. I noticed lately that at other hotels we've only had one or the other or neither. My only issue was parking, but who doesn't have that issue in New York City. Oh yea, and it was very reasonably priced for a full week stay in Manhattan, right on the cusp of Chinatown. read more

Madison LES is a poor excuse of a hotel and all those who gave a great review for this place are either hopped up on stupid or possess very low standards. Having been around the world, you gain an unique perspective when it comes to things like this. Firstly the rooms are so small with no place to move around or sit other than on the bed. For the money we spent on the room, one would expect a level of services and amenities which they fall short of. Our room didn't have any milk or sugar/options and the lift had issues and no room service . Other than the complimentary breakfast (which was above average) and the rooms being clean there isn't much left to discuss. Overall this place is suited only for overnight stays and the adventurous lot. read more

A basic, budget hotel, not bad as basic, budget hotels go, but for one very annoying thing - they have instituted a "resort fee" on top of the advertised rate. A "resort fee" at this place? Seriously? This isn't Vegas. For the $20 a night "resort fee" (which is tacked on after you click to book your room, but before you pay), they say they are giving you breakfast, and internet. Woohoo. The breakfast is no great shakes, and even McDonalds gives free internet. You can stay at the Fairfield Inn next door for the same price and NO resort fee, and still get breakfast and internet. I've stayed at the Madison LES a number of times, but will avoid in the future, because I don't appreciate sneaky billing. Charge whatever you want, but do it up front and transparently. read more

Staff was friendly and helpful. WiFi worked great. Free breakfast was good with real sausage, boiled eggs, waffles, etc. Rooms were clean and shampoo, etc had a wonderful smell. Rooms are small but what do you expect in NYC? The front desk recommended a pizza place we could walk to-nothing fancy but excellent and 2 blocks away: Madison St. Pizza. Also close was a convenience store and liquor store. If you are planning to head to Times Square, take a bus or subway or prepare to it some $$ due to traffic. read more

We stayed at the Madison LES for several nights in 12/2019. For the price I can't imagine you can find a better place to stay given the service, cleanliness, and proximity. They have breakfast available every morning and they food was what you would expect and always seemed fresh. The hotel is a block from the river and under the Manhattan Bridge so it was a nice place to walk in the mornings and we never felt unsafe in the area. The F-train subway station was within sight and can take you up to Central Park or over to Brooklyn which was super convenient. The rooms were small but probably normal for NYC standards. Everything in the hotel was clean and looked new. There was a valet parking garage (not affiliated with the hotel) on the same block which made it nice to drop off our car when we got in. I would recommend giving this place a shot if you're looking for a central place in Manhattan for a good price. read more

The Madison LES Hotel sits in a great spot in lower Manhattan where you can walk to the piers at the seaport lots to enjoy. The room was very clean and cozy with great size tv and free WiFi the best part is you get a free breakfast buffet that not many hotels offer. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family. read more
