They only have their buffet-style during the lunch hours, and during dinner it is a la carte. Madras is also a great price for the buffet ($12.99 weekday lunches and $15.99 weekend lunches). They usually serve 3-4 different curries (egg curry, goat curry, chicken, etc.) along with classic chicken tikka masala-- ALL SO CREAMERY AND DELICIOUS. I love their Chicken65 as well. Madras Chettinaad is arguably the best Indian restaurant in Atlanta. Hands down! The place is consistent and has a lot of variety of foods for vegetarians and non vegetarians. It is still a buffet but only a limited amount of people at the buffet bar and you wait in line. The workers with masks and gloves will give you whatever you want on the plate. Extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. The people here were impolite and lacked basic decency, forget customer service. Came in here with family for a weekend buffet. They had specified the buffet will not refilled after 2:30pm. We came in exactly at that time so we didn't mind it. We paid full price upfront. They had informed us that they close around 3, so we will have to wrap up everything by then. We were ok with that as well. The worst part happened when it became few mins past 3. An older man came in and asked us to leave asap and mind you, the tone was not pleasant. It was as if we were sitting at his house uninvited, eating food for charity. They have decent food (not the greatest in the area) and they attract good enough crowd. But that does not make anyone top of the world and warrant disrespectful behavior. I wish I had read other reviews where people had mentioned their rude behavior over and over again before coming here. read more

I went here for lunch with my brother on a Monday. He'd been hyping it up as the best Indian buffet he'd ever been to and....it was a bit disappointing. The selection offered was smaller than usual, and they didn't have as many curries as a normal day. This restaurant did a great job of handling our large group of 20 on a Saturday night. We didn't have to wait too long for our food and there wasn't anything missing as can be the case sometimes with large orders. Staff wasn't particularly friendly but they got the job done. We had called a few days earlier to put in our reservation and they gave us the banquet room that looked to be largely unused during COVID. There seemed to be a long wait if you didn't have a reservation, however. It was really busy for a Saturday night. My husband and I ordered the lamb biryani, chicken 65 and garlic naan. Everything was great, I just wish the raita for the lamb biryani was not as thick as it was. I generally find that raitas should be more thin to pair with the flavorful biryani rice. I was craving biryani for a long time and I got my craving satisfied here! Everyone else also enjoyed their food. read more

We don't get Indian food like this where I'm from. Amazed at all the dishes we ordered! The samosas are wonderfully seasoned and curries as well. I loved the dal makhni the most, my close second was the chicken tikka masala. Service was very fast and efficient, I wished they came around with water more often though. Came here for lunch as soon as it opened after a hike. You could tell it was a popular place because people were piling in the second the place opened. I must say, this is the best Indian buffet I have ever had. Everything was delicious and there were so many options! I wish I had the stomach space to try everything. I limited myself to small scoops of everything and still didn't have the stomach space to try everything. Everything was so delicious and fresh and they don't skimp on the ingredients! The mutton curry was filled with mutton and you weren't digging for paneer in their paneer curry. I wish this restaurant was closer to me because it was just so good! The food ranged from South Indian delicacies to North Indian specialties.. everything so yummy. More over chole, poori, spicy tofu, saag paneer, beetroot poriyal, salad, shrikhand (loaded with dry nuts), jalebi, mango fruit custard, gulab jaamun. My friend had a lot of meat dishes (mutton kohlapuri, tandoori chicken, chicken biriyani, chilly fish) and complimented every single item. There were more items that we didn't get to.. so much to eat for just $15. Cleanliness was superb, distant seating due to covid was good. Another good thing-- the buffet area has some special folks that serve you food, whatever you want and hand you at once. So no one (customers) touches anything, and thus maintaining high safety standards during covid times. I'm not an expert on Indian food and don't think I could ever be. However, I was pretty excited about Madras Chettinaad after hearing such good things. The restaurant is HUGE. I was a little lost trying to find my friends' table but eventually found them in the back room after the buffet line. The buffet spread is great! The dishes are mostly neatly labeled, although there were some I still needed to use my imagination to determine what exactly they were. I loved the curries and the rices and I especially liked the chicken 65, but the DESSERTS. I love gulab jamun (is that super basic of me?) and there was a WHOLE TRAY of them YAS. And, at first I wasn't sure what the jalebi were but I remember seeing them in a movie (Lion, anyone?) and was excited to give it a try. Tasty, crispy and sweet! Service is odd - I wasn't sure who was a server and who was a customer since there was no uniform. I was nervous I would be offending a customer by flagging them down at random versus someone who could refill my water and bring me my check. Speaking of the check, the buffet lunch price on Saturday was very reasonable. If I'm not mistaken, it was around $14.99 per person. Our #1 spot for South Indian indulgence! We come here to celebrate and splurge. (Plant based style) Started with something new this time, the Bombay Chat. Tasted like a chat in a flaky muffin, coated a nice yogurt sauce. Great for family style sharing. My favorite section to explore is the Dosai. The Spring and Pav Bhaji Dosai are my favorites. I got for Spring if I want a lot of food but wanted something lighter. And I choose Pav Bhaji when I want a lot of food and something heavier. Either way I have something to take home for leftovers. I accompanied my friend to a dental office nearby for appointment. Then she said we should come here for lunch. She has been to Madras Chettinaad before and I supposed it must be good or else she would not suggest it. Madras Chettinaad is located at the same strip mall as Wendy's and Publix. If you are in front facing Publix, Madras Chettinaas is on the far right. I believe that was the last shop on the right. When we were walking towards the restaurant, we saw a big group leaving. They looked like office crowd heading back to work after lunch. Upon entering the restaurant, I saw a few gentlemen standing around and one asked how many of us would be dining, and proceeded to show us our table. This place is massive, lots of seatings and it seemed to be one popular place. A staff came and left us with two glasses of water. We proceeded to get our food. FOOD 5/5 I never see a buffet with that huge variety of food in Atlanta. My friend told me the first section is vegetarian. Sorry, I am a meat person, I just have to skip that and moved to the meat section. I tried the chicken curry, tandoori, fish curry and briyani. They were all so good. Yes, I did have some eggplants and a bit of vegetables. I guess because the crowd keeps coming in, food was replenished fast and they tasted fresh. Although there were plenty of items in lunch buffet, taste was missing in most. Chicken biryani was good and tasty. Chicken curry/Korma were average, and so was egg curry. Among vegi items, paneer was also average as well other dishes which is a typical issue when a south Indian restaurant tries to cook north Indian dishes. South Indian dishes were mostly good. In dessert, gulabjamun was pathetic. I will prefer ordering individual items instead of going for another buffet. read more

If you love Indian food, Madras is a must try...but get there early [opens at 11:30am] or be prepared to wait. Food is delicious and plentiful. And the service is top notch. Even though I am watching what I eat [for the moment], I struggle not to go all out. There are plenty of yummy dishes to choose from...even at a buffet. I feel as though the food is prepared just for me. My current favorites are the fish curry and saag paneer. So come and indulge your Indian pleasures. The lunch buffet is adequate in its variance offering and quality. A buffet offering limitless coriander chutney! Naan was a bit sad, a bit limpy, but I think you call it a chapati? It totally made up for it. And you also had dosa which was good too. Curry and other staples were quite edible too. Went for a lunch buffet last week - variety was there for every course including apps, non veg, veg, dessert etc. I was not impressed with the veggie entrees but lamb/chicken were good. Definitely worth the money. I wish they would upgrade their water glasses - they looked kind of oldish and sad. Also, cloth napkins with cutlery wrapped should be offered, we had to get our own and there were only paper napkins. Hence the 4 stars! read more

Decent Indian buffet, tons of options, good prices! This is probably one of the biggest Indian buffets I've been to. I'm talking like rows and rows of food LOL. They have a whole row dedicated just to vegetarian options. Quality is average among other Indian buffets but with all the options it seems that the flavors get muddled out amongst one another. Recently came back here with one of my friends and was surprised but excited they're still operating their buffet. The buffet was amazing! They have so many different selections of north and south indian foods and it is all the main dishes I would want. My friend is vegetarian/vegan and she was easily able to enjoy the curries and veggie biryani while I was able to try a variety of the meat dishes as well. My only --this would make it better comment-- would be if they offered tables the choice to order drinks. However, I guess their buffet is too busy to really have servers so they just seat people and give their checks. The food is enjoyable though. I'm already planning on taking one of my friends who is new to Indian cuisine and that way he can try a variety of things. read more

I go back and forth on this place. On one hand, they have a FANTASTIC MENU. On the other, it is dirty and sometimes give us tummy aches. Super hit or miss. Overall, I do recommend it as they have hard to find south indian dishes but I wish they were more on top of their cleanliness in the restaurant and bathrooms. This restaurant definitely has one of the biggest buffets I have ever been to in the country. I was visiting the area from East Tennessee and this place's review caught my attention to get in there. The staff was quick on welcoming us on a busy Saturday afternoon and got us seated. (We were a party of 10). I was excited to see they had 4 aisles of authentic South Indian food. One full aisle with traditional brunch stuff. I pretty much tasted everything and would rate a 4 on 5. Moving on to the appetizers I only ate the chicken starters and again a 4 on 5. They are well spiced and served hot. The curries were all amazing and they made me fall in love with the place. I enjoyed the fish curry very much. Not a fan. Was highly recommended by a coworker. She said I should arrive by 11:30 as they are full by noon. It was a rainy Saturday at at 11:45 there were only few tables full. More trickled in but it still wasn't full when I left around 12:30. I've eaten a lot of Indian food and some of the vegetarian appetizers were unique items I had never tried. I enjoyed trying something new. Non of the curries tasted great. Not bad but lacking in spices. There was egg curry, goat curry and the rest was chicken. No lamb. The fish didn't taste good to and the chicken chettinad had bones. The worst part for me is many of the dishes were not very warm - I think they were still heating them up from the day before instead of being freshly made and they were warm at best. It was off putting and it kept me from eating more. The buffet alone with tax was $16.16. Very expensive to have no lamb option, chicken with bones and reheated leftovers. I won't be back. Just moved to this side of town and tried this Madras Chettinaad restaurant. Blown away. Had the chicken madras and my wife had a veggie paneer dish, both fantastic. High Yield: So I really love Indian restaurants and I must say, this is probably the BIGGEST indian establishment (not including the wedding hall) that I've ever seen. When I say establishment, I don't just mean the seating area but there are 4 whole buffet bars of food... And the best part is, they offer fares y ou won't find in other indian buffets probably because you need a large volume of customers to make such fares profitable. Dosa, for example, is a thin indian crepe I haven't encountered in years because in smaller Indian restaurants, it is not easy to keep around sitting out and becoming soggy if you don't have a large demand. There's a good vegetarian table-- you have your typical dal, curry vegetables, turmeric stained cumin veggies etc. I like that, unlike some smaller restaurants that are restricted in size and offerings, you can go nuts on curry ANY vegetable here! Meats- you have your tandoor and curry ANY meat you can imagine- beef, chicken, goat, fish (ok, no pork of course), etc etc eggs Desserts- This is a little confusing- they put desserts and some appetizers in the same bar... so be careful that if it looks like banana pudding, read the sign first- I got some savory dish that took me by shock since I just ate mango pudding, mango fruity custard, sweet donut, and then BAM salty cumin cream. But otherwise, a VERY nice spread of desserts- some restaurants only offer 1-2 rice pudding or super sweet donuts- come to think of it, I don't recall seeing rice pudding here. But doesn't matter, still all good The appetizers bar- this was their main seller for me- I haven't seen dosa since Royal Indian Buffet closed on Abbots bridge. This was was definitely bustling on a weekend enough for them to be able to offer it as their buffet table. It comes already filled with potato curry like filling inside which is nice b/c it saves you the trouble of what you should put inside your dosa. There's of course naan, but if you came here, EAT THEIR DOSA because you can't find it anywhere else in most buffets. I liked the soups and the dips you can pair with the dosa.
