We love coming here. Our best time coming here is Friday afternoon 1:30-3:30. Less crowd and more friendly service. Excellent food and large menu. The quality is equal to the best seafood joints in the beaux. Those that rate lower just don't know good consistent Cajun food. It rates around 4.5-6. read more

Amanda has definitely been one of the best servers that I have come across in such a long-time. Refreshing customer service, top tier and she has definitely raised the bar. She is an, excellent representation of the Pappadeaux's brand! Somebody give this lady a raise as soon as possible! Her recommendation for the snapper was simply amazing! Late lunch at Pappadeaux which was my first time here. Came for the chargrilled oysters and they were out, which was a bummer. Calamari was good and crispy. The crab & spinach dip was just okay.I can't remember the name of my entrée (it was a specialty item) but the crusted sea bass over spinach and tomatoes in a buttery sauce...A winner! I took my friend here for her birthday. At first, I almost suggested going somewhere else because of my previous bad experience.. But I am so glad I didn't because this was an amazing dining experience. The server Kenny made it amazing! We ordered the Pappadeaux Seafood platter and it was so delicious! A group of about 10 of us went in last night, we had reservations and were seating right away. We had Niiya as our server and she was awesome! Very friendly, and fun. She was fast and very attentive without being overbearing. Everyone had a great time here! I had the filet and it was ok, not the best steak ever for sure, but everyone that had a seafood dish absolutely loved it. Pappadeaux is NEVER a bad idea. Never. Yet, we rarely venture to this Alpharetta location. We did this weekend, however, for my daughter's birthday dinner. She was turning 4 and wanted to wear a fancy dress. After considering plenty of other restaurants in the metro area, we landed on old faithful. Pappadeaux has food the whole family can enjoy, a dedicated children's menu, and offers an atmosphere where one could safely dress up or come more casual without feeling out of place. The experience did not disappoint. Our waitress was great and everyone enjoyed their food. We were offered a free dessert for the birthday girl and chose the banana pudding. It comes in a large mason jar, so everyone was able to get a small serving that more than sufficient for our party of 5. As a note, for anyone who has been a longtime Pappadeaux customer: the menu continues to shift while keeping several popular staples. The seafood Cobb salad is one of my go-to menu items. So, I really happy the waitress let me know of the changes so that we could customize my salad if needed. The big changes are (1) this served with a wedge instead of a lettuce mix , and (2) comes with a French dressing rather than the creamy vinaigrette. read more

Sunday brunch, easy in and out. Parking was a breeze...we were seated immediately. We were able to grab one of the booths in the bar, which is always preferred. I had the Cobb salad, skipped the creole dressing and opted for their creamy vinaigrette (a favorite). Salad was a touch wet, I imagine as a result of them washing the greens which is always a welcome practice. Primary issues is a watery salad has a tendency to dilute the flavor of the other ingredients. I recommend ensuring your greens are at least dry before you add the other ingredients. Mom had the Atlantic salmon and a baked potato, both which were delicious and flavorful. Service was excellent, it's always better in the bar;) While we enjoyed the playlist, the volume made it difficult to carry on a conversation without continuously having to repeat ourselves. I was recently here with my best friend and her mom for a late Saturday lunch. We had a reservation so when we arrived, we didn't have to wait long to be seated. This location is nice and really large! I loved the open views especially during our rainy visit. Our server, Taj was ok. Not the greatest service but it wasn't the worse. I felt like he was just going through the motions and not really present in the moment. For starters we shared the fried calami and octopus. This was a good dish but slightly salty. We also shared a brownie dessert which was yummy! We all ordered something different for our entrees. I really enjoyed my trout and grilled shrimp dish. Served with truffle potatoes. I also had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Very overpriced for 8 oz ($20)!!! The food portion size was huge and I definitely enjoyed leftover once I got back to Alabama. I always have a great time coming here. The service is always top notch, and the food is always freshly prepared and delicious. My favorite appetizer is the Gator Bites (ADDICTIVELY delicious - a large portion, crispy fried goodness without being oily, and I LOVE the dipping sauce), and my favorite entree is the Filet Oscar (the filet is perfectly seasoned, cooked exactly to my liking and still juicy, and the lump cream meat on top is the Perfect Compliment). I cringed when I found out my sons wanted to take me here for Mother's Day. I used to love this location off Mansell but the food quality went down. Imagine my shock and surprise that the food was AMAZING, fresh, seasoned, hot, and down right tasty with huge portions. The service at 8 pm at night was on point. (#Mayline you did awesome job of serving my family.) We had the grilled salmon, catfish entree, creole grouper and lemongrass snapper entrees and it was ALL delicious. @Manager Tyler, we will definitely be back. We had an awesome experience celebrating my birthday. Justin was our server and he was on point. He was super attentive and offered suggestions. The restaurant wasn't crowded on a Saturday evening. They finally brought back the crab cake. It didn't disappoint. The alligator was just ok. I prefer their original alligator app. My salmon Alexander was perfectly seared and topped with crawfish, shrimp, and scallops. The collard greens were just ok. They were a bit crunchy and cooked work sliced onions and turnips. I wouldn't order them again. I enjoyed the key lime pie for dessert. read more

It's reassuring to know some restaurants haven't compromised food quality despite having to cope with inflation and lackluster sales. While the sky-high prices at Pappadeaux defy all comprehension, if one orders prudently and without extravagance, the customer can still have a decent meal at a price that may dent the bank but won't break it. The ability to order from the lunch menu during dinner hours is a plus. There aren't many restaurants that permit this. Our server was extremely friendly and accommodating. He most assuredly contributed to making the dining experience special. A couple of items that could benefit from some process improvement: The tap water filter (if there is one) could use replacement. The restaurant temperature was uncomfortably cold. I suggest being on the lookout for a telltale ceiling vent and steering clear of it if you have a sensitivity to overactive air conditioning. The ambient noise level can also be an issue, even when the restaurant is only marginally busy. If a quiet environment is a must, select a seat strategically. Pappadeax Seafood Kitchen is one of the very few restaurants (about 1 in 10) I would consider returning to. read more

Love the spacious atmosphere here and service was good and friendly. As for the food, it was hit or miss. The fried seafood platter was good, especially the crab balls with real crab meat. The french fries were good, but not outstanding. $39.00 for this entree seemed a bit steep considering half of it was fries and didn't come with soup or salad. Likewise, the Rosemary Chicken didn't come with soup or salad, but the chicken presentation was quite nice and appetizing to look at. The chicken was cooked nicely with a slight crisp to the skin and generally moist and tender though the breast meat could have been better if brined to retain moisture and tenderness. Overall though, it was good enough to order again in the future. The accompanying sausage red beans and rice were disappointing lacking flavor and spice. The red beans were quite watery as well. I was expecting this to be more enjoyable than it was; Copelands serves a much better version of the red beans and rice. Overall, a good meal largely attributed to atmosphere and decent food. Will certainly return but not often as it is overpriced for what you get. read more

The spinach was undercooked, the stems were still crunch. The red snapper was very small. I actually left hungry. After a$52 bill i was very unhappy. I have been visiting Pappa's restaurants for the past 35 years. I have been visiting this particular Pappadeaux location for the past 15 years. My experiences have always been good or great. My most recent visit, by far, is the worst experience at a Pappa's restaurant. It was New Year's Eve and I had a 7:45 reservation. I arrived around 7:40 and checked in to be told that they were running behind. The restaurant was only about 60% full so either they did not have enough servers, they overbooked, or patrons were sitting longer than normal. I was called to the stand at 8:15 to be seated. My server was friendly and perhaps the best thing about the experience. My appetizers were great. When my entree (seafood platter) arrived, everything looked fine. As I looked closer at my stuffed shrimp, it looked undercooked on the outside. As I dug into it, I noticed that there was a raw, uncooked, shrimp on the inside. I stopped eating and called my server. He promptly took the plate away and told me he would replace it and that the manager would stop by. After about five minutes, the manager came by. She asked did I send some food back. I told her YES and she wanted details. I asked if she talked to the server and she advised that she was busy and did not know what happened. I explained that my food was undercooked. She apologized and told me she would comp my entree and to have a dessert on her. About five minutes later, a new plate came out. Some items were replaced with new items but the stuffed shrimp and crab were cooked very hard. It appeared that my food was just cooked longer and my stuffed shrimp was mangled. I ate a little and asked the server to bring me a to go box as I had been at the restaurant longer than anticipated. I also ordered my dessert to go. When I received my check, I had been charged for my entree twice and comped for one of them. My dessert had not been comped. I asked the server to confirm that my check was correct. He took my check and came back this time the dessert was comped. I went ahead and paid my check but asked to see the manager again. This time, she would not come by. He told me he had told her four times to come by and he could not control what she does. After totaling my check out and waiting another five minutes or so, I went to the manager to speak with her. She told me she was still working on my check. I let her know that I had totaled my check out. She advised that she could still make adjustments to my check after I left. I will not return to this location until this situation is either resolved or there is new management. If I rated this place purely on the management, it would be one star. Given the quality of my entrees, drinks, and server, I am rating this place two stars. read more

Second visit to a Pappadeaux in the last couple of months. Previous visit was the one in Lawrenceville where the experience was even worse. Visit to Alpharetta last night was not good. Came to celebrate a birthday. Hostess that tried to seat us couldn't find the table assigned. She asked if we were celebrating anything and we told her a birthday. When the wait person came, she also asked us if we were celebrating anything so obviously the hostess didn't communicate info we'd already provided. The wine we ordered, KJ Chardonnay, was $62/bottle. It's available in every grocery store for $15, so TOTAL ripoff. It also has a screw top, so no effort needed to uncork/open it. Salad was good, but food came out cold and had to go back to the kitchen to be re heated. Never received nor got anything associated with it being a birthday celebration. Pappadeaux used to have great food and great service but not anymore. So sad to see these restaurants become so bad when they're still so expensive. Service continues to be unbelievably poor. You know, I really try to give Pappadeaux the love that I see everyone else give. It just falls short for me every time I go. I've gone 2 or 3 times to different locations and it doesn't give me what everyone else seems to get. The first time I went, I tried a fried seafood platter. It wasn't flavorful enough for me. This time, I tried to eat lighter and go for a shrimp salad. I wasn't impressed. The shrimp was cold - didn't expect that. It was huge for the portion but there's nothing else to say - it just wasn't good. This is an expensive restaurant and for me to waste money is disappointing. Service was excellent, however. The location was very nice and we had a great section for our large party. It's just not somewhere that I ever have to go to again. I think it's very overhyped, imo. read more

Just thought I'd mention that because we were super happy we didn't have to wait. Our sever was pleasant, professional and accommodating. We were pleased with what we ordered. My family had a giftcard for Pappadeaux so we decided to go for a weekend dinner. There's plenty of parking out front and we were seated pretty quickly. The service was a little slow and we hadn't been to Pappadeaux in ages, so we were a little shocked by how pricey it's gotten! I had a beer (there wasn't a lot of choices on tap) and for dinner I had the shrimp and grits. I loved the size of the shrimp and the flavor was pretty good. The bread service was delicious, and my family also ordered Pasta Mardi Gras, Crawfish Etouffee, and the Pontchartrain. Overall, the food was pretty good, but I'll be honest, there's better Cajun food elsewhere in Alpharetta for a more reasonable price. We also received the Shrimp Etouffee instead of the Crawfish Ettouffee which was still delicious, but frustrating from a service perspective. Overall, Pappadeaux in the past was great for me, but this visit was just ok. read more

Last Saturday in Atlanta we decided on Pappadeux's for dinner. After being met with a two-hour wait at the Windy Hill Road location, I immediately made reservations at the Alpharetta location, about a 20-minute drive away. We arrived just in time for our reservation. With only an hour left before closing, the hostess graciously cleared a table for us, so we were seated promptly. It wasn't nearly as packed as the other location, but it was still lively. We started with the Crispy Alligator appetizer. It wasn't exactly mind-blowing, but it was definitely tasty and fresh. No "wow" factor, but we enjoyed it. The star of the evening was the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas. The dish caught my attention when our friendly and professional server, the guy sporting neatly covered Locks, recommended it after my request for a seafood suggestion. Blackened catfish, oysters, shrimp, and jumbo lump crab, garlic butter sauce with a side of dirty rice. Absolute foodie bliss. My husband opted for the Seafood Platter without oysters. He was satisfied with his choice. Sometimes simple is best. Now the drinks...ugh. I don't know if the regular bartenders were on vacation or what, but those drinks were watered down upon arrival and just plain disappointing. It's a shame when the libations fall flat, but we didn't let it ruin our night. I ordered the creme brûlée to go. I'll give it a 10. It was on par with the creme brûlée at The Capital Grille, which is exceptional. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. Attended a company Christmas lunch here. Had the grilled seafood platter with salmon, shrimp and claims,preceded by a tasty house salad. Then topped it off with key lime pie for dessert. The service was excellent. We were at the Alpharetta location. I have also been to the Norcross and San Antonio locations some time ago. There was two security guards in front which made us feel safe leaving our recently purchased gifts in our car. We went in and was seated immediately. We opted for a booth in the bar area and our server who was also the bartender was attentive to us throughout our entire dining experience. We started our meal with artichoke spinach and crab dip that's served with toasted broiled points. This dish comes out in a ramekin served piping hot. It doesn't come with a ton of crab meat but it is very tasty, and enough to serve 2-3 adults. I tried order the special which was a tile fish topped with grilled shrimp, crab meat and lemon butter sauce served with truffled potatoes and I added a side of spinach. My dining companion ordered a bowl of seafood gumbo and a blackened catfish meal with red beans and rice. We were extremely pleased with all of the entrees, the service and being able to be seated without a reservation This location might be my favorite of all the locations. read more

We took our whole family there to have dinner and Pappadeaux's has usually been very good and being born and raised in New Orleans. I always like when I don't have to cook my own Cajun food however it seems that the quality of the food is going down when you get like blackened catfish it just seemed mushy and whenever they do the different gumbos I think they have just a regular base and then depending on what gumbo you order then they add the seafood into it after so the seafood kind of has a rubbery texture. I don't know if they've changed things up, but it's not as good as it used to be. read more

I've always held Pappadeaux's to a high standard--especially the Alpharetta location. We've driven 45 minutes more than once just to enjoy the quality food and service that have consistently made the experience worthwhile. Unfortunately, today's early dinner was a major disappointment. We came in high anticipation of enjoying Mardi Gras pasta, fondue, oysters, and other favorites to unwind and celebrate the end of our day. Instead, we were served three separate plates of Mardi Gras pasta that all had the same issue: watery sauce, scarred shrimp, and an overall lack of the flavor and quality we've come to expect from this establishment. It was clear that this wasn't just a one-off or one person's taste--the issue was consistent across all three dishes. We had to send the food back, and while we did reorder different meals, we ultimately had to take the replacement pastas home. That completely negated the point of sharing a meal together in the restaurant. When we brought the concern to the manager, we were told the sauces were prepared in the morning and couldn't be redone for the rest of the day--basically, what we got is what we were going to get. That response felt dismissive and lacking in accountability, especially from a restaurant known for its high standards. What made this even more frustrating is that I've previously left positive reviews praising this location's customer service and food. Today's experience didn't just fall short--it felt like a complete disregard for returning customers who came expecting a quality meal and memorable experience. Disappointed doesn't even begin to capture it. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously, as the quality and consistency we've known and loved were sorely missed today. read more
