Out of this world. I am embarrassed to say that my husband and I went there three times in a matter of 10 days because we were hooked. It never seems to be busy and I don't know why because the staff is friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is clean and modern, the prices are reasonable compared to other Indian restaurants and the food... well let's just say the chicken tikka masala is one of the best I've ever had. I went there and I had not a very pleasant experience .. the manager was rude .. and also I arranged a party of 23 people there in their private hall and I was assured to have privacy in that hall but in between the party the manager or owner I don't know who it was came and wanted to share our space with other customers. .. it was embarrassing and unethical ( I refused to share the hall and the management became rude and starting arguing in front of my guests .. never going there again and won't recommend . read more

Food was absolutely spectacular! Unfortunately the service was extremely poor. Our waiter seemed totally lost in his own world and it was hard to get a hold of him. It took about 45-50 minutes for the food to get to us but it was totally worth it! Would definitely recommend this place. read more

What a rip off. Me and two of my friends went for a new year's eve dinner. We asked at the main door a place for three. They told us oh. Today is buffet and it is $40 per head including alcohol. That was their correct wording. We asked them four times to confirm and they said yeah alcohol from the bar is included in the $40. They served us with the cheapest beer and the buffet was way below than average. So spicy that a person might die of it. We decided to order one drink each. And the waiter TELLS US THAT ONLY ONE BEER IS INCLUDED. what sort of a cheap trick was this? Madras grill was my to go place and now am hating it to the core. Thanks for ripping us of $120 with below average food. So oily and one cheap $2 beer. This was the worst experience. I wish i could give it a zero star. Please know we earn that money with a lot of hardwork. So stop ripping us off. read more

Hands down best restaurant in the greater Boston restaurant. Can't get enough of their dosa's, you can't go wrong with it. Other awesome things I tried are kothu parantha and thali which were awesome too. The buffet is massive and great as well. The head waiter guru makes sure you get great service. read more

This review is based on their dinner (not a buffet). Madras Grill may not have the most prestige in location (strip mall), but they make up for that with good quality of food. The breads here are excellent. They are able to customize the level of spiciness of each dish as you desire, too. Service here is good and the staff are able to suggest items if you are not very sure of what to eat or drink. One downside here is the portions are smaller than other Indian restaurants in the area. read more

One of the best Indian restaurants. I got the chicken biryanis. So delicious and the enormous chicken pieces were fall off the bone tender. I ordered the lamb pasanda...it will be my go to dish for now on, it tasted like one of the most delicious stews I ever had, complimented by the jasmine rice. And I got the Saag Paneer with naan. DO NOT EAT HERE! I met two other friends for lunch all coming from different locations and states, ALL THREE of us became VERY sick for over a week and it was unquestionably due to the quality of food at this establishment. I am now hearing in a pathetic attempt not to take responsibility for the contamination of their food the owners are threatening clients. This is beyond abhorrent and the proper course of action would be to apologize for the food poisoning. I myself missed a test in a class I have never missed once and set me weeks back for the semester. I have not been sick for over ten years, after this meal if you want to call it that I was throwing up sick in bed, and did not feel right for weeks after. As I have stated we all came from different places and the common denominator was meeting here to eat. The restaurant was disgusting with a dirty carpet, and in appalling shape. Its amazing that the place stays in business. I just hope anyone considering heeds these warnings and goes elsewhere! Do not risk getting sick! read more

Madras spl buffet !?? Super hyped place. Sambar was like Kali. Beans poriyal tadka burnt dead black Bendi kolambu was the only good thing Pongal in Karnataka style in a madras spl buffet??? This place has always been good to me from the very beginning, even though I think the management has changed along the way. I don't know what happened to this place. I used to be a regular here, especially for their lunch buffet. The spread had a decent variety at a good price, but above all, the food was tasty. They had a good mix of north and south style dishes, they usually had 2 soups, 2 types of naan, several appetizer-type dishes (samosas, pakoras, potato dishes, and so on), biryani, 2-3 meat curries and 2-3 vegetarian curries. Tandoori chicken was always served. I enjoyed their buffet so much that I would occasionally shell out the big bucks and order off the regular dinner menu for take out. All in all, I probably ate there once a week. I spent a year and a half in the countryside of South Korea, where Indian food isn't a thing, and was eager to return to my old favorite. I arrived to one of the most disappointing meals I have ever had. I can only assume they have changed management. It seems that Madras Grill has been cutting corners and their food has suffered for it. The pakoras were soggy and flavorless, the aloo gobi was underwhelming and the tandoori chicken was replaced by something I can only describe as bite-size chicken nuggets, which had no spice or flavor aside from being breaded, fried chunks of chicken. The naan, which was previously available at the buffet, is now brought out to each table in a basket, which means you only get what the give to you. The goat biryani was good, but overshadowed by the TERRIBLE chicken tikka masala. The sole curry-type dish with meat in it, was disgusting. It was thin, watery and had no depth of flavor. I was tempted to reach for the salt shaker, something I have never wanted to do in an Indian restaurant. The chicken in it was dry and flavorless. Whats worse, it was an almost unnatural, neon orange color. When I got to the car and went to fix my lipstick, I found the outer edges of my teeth had been stained orange, from what I can only assume was an over-use of orange orange food coloring. I guess the silver lining here is that it will give me motivation to try one of the other Indian places in the area. As sad as it makes me, I won't be returning to Madras Grill. read more

Was not too impressed with the food. Should probably be named Malabar Grill rather than Madras Grill. Went for a Sunday lunch buffet and the food was very mediocre. The curd rice was over salted. The vada, sambar and hara Bhara kebab was good. We were charged for a kids meal when my daughter didn't even have a plate and barely ate anything. But they did fix it when we complained. 3.5 stars I had never really tried Indian food until a few years ago, but now I enjoy it. At my first visit to an Indian restaurant, I ALWAYS order samosas and Rogan Josh, and if those two dishes are really good, they'll have me hooked and I would be willing to try the rest of their fare. If not, I'll begin my search for another place. This place had 3.75-star samosas, which were pretty small in comparison to others I have had. They also had a salty "crust" and the inside part was more pureed, finely cut than I'm used to. It wasn't bad; it was just different, and it was served over cut cucumbers. I just prefer bigger chunks. The Rogan Josh was about a 3.75 star, but it was more expensive than others I've had, and the lamb wasn't as tender as I would have liked. More lamb would have been better, too. The sauce was good and it had a little kick. They served it with white rice. They had a buffet ($9.95) this afternoon, and I wasn't impressed with many of the entrees. They could have had more protein besides the two chicken dishes. Looked like several different types of curry, a spinach dish, a couple of rice offerings, plain naan, cabbage, Indian "chili," and lots of things with tomato/creamy sauce. There were a few types of dessert, the strangest of which was something made out of beets laden with sugar. The raita was weird; if the purpose is to refresh/cool your mouth, then it shouldn't have had so much red onion. I believe the weekend buffet costs a little more, and it probably has more choices. The waiters weren't pushy with drinks, but as I was looking at the buffet to see if that's what I would be eating, I asked the waiter to describe what such and such was. Instead of describing the ingredients, he read the little card next to it. I had already done that. The place is about a month old and therefore, pretty clean except for under my table, of course. Looked like someone knocked over a bowl of rice onto the floor under my seat, and it wasn't I. Will probably be back, but not tomorrow. Wow. We've eaten out a lot recently. I've been here twice and enjoyed it both times. I love the beer selection, haywards 5000 is a great beer that gets you on the right level. The food has been delicious both times I was at the restaurant. I have only had appetizers but they were spicy and went down nicely with some beer. The price is a bit high but the service is great, very friendly and the ambiance is authentic and relaxing. I recommend the madras grill. read more

With recent dietary restrictions including no gluten, no dairy, no soy and no pork I've been abstaining from the restaurant experience. I had read that Madras Grill had gluten free options and we'd liked their food in the past so we showed up right at opening time a recent Sunday evening. I have to say that the gentleman who greeted us and helped us out initially was patient, KIND and willing to answer all my questions. He made recommendations and made sure that we had everything we needed. The food was delicious. So nice to get food that I am allowed to eat that is actually a menu item! We returned the following week and immediately we were recognized and the same gentleman made sure I know what choices fit into my restrictions. This is fast becoming a favorite. Best restaurant I have ever been to, and coming from a picky vegetarian eater with contact level allergies to wheat, dairy, and soy, this is saying a lot. There are very few restaurants where I have been able to eat at altogether - none of them as good as the Madras Grille. This restaurant has amazing food, customer service, and knowledge of what to do when handling allergens. We come often and they know exactly what to do and how to prepare the food. I don't understand why this place hasn't gotten more attention for their food; even the dishes I like less are still very, very good. My one complaint is that they cannot make most dishes safe and only have a select few they can make - but I appreciate being able to get very good food that is made safely, even if there is less variety of allergy friendly food than one might prefer. read more

Very nice clean restaurant, attentive staff. My family and I have come to Madras a few times for the buffet. The place is clean, everything still looks new. The food is very good and many gluten free selections. I love the spicy interesting flavors. I also like that the restaurant does not charge for toddlers as most food might not be to the toddlers taste. read more

Great place, great food! Since this is a local business and I like to support local business, I was eager to stop in from the time the sign went up. I've dined in and had take-out, and have had excellent service every visit. Friendly and helpful staff help you get exactly what you want. Someone's thought out the decor, so even though you're in a strip mall, you don't feel it. My fav is Dal Makani...so yummy that my husband and I try not to go here too often because we STUFF OURSELVES SILLY when we do. A treat! read more

We went in kind of late, 9:30pm. The woman bussing our table slammed the glasses down with such violence it shook the whole table. When she addressed us her voice was angry. She continued to skulk around muttering and being rude through the whole meal. She was heard to say that she would now be there all night. We would have been out faster if the waiter had taken our order faster, or brought our rice without us having to go to the bar to ask for it. The Malai Kofta was quite funky, pale and rubbery. This place, sadly, did not live up to the hype. The main dish we ordered--fish curry--was terrible. Way too tangy and the fish tasted old. The idly/dosa was also delivered cold, and I have serious doubts as to whether the coconut chutney was even safe to eat--it had a grayish tinge that I've never seen before. We seriously wanted this place to be good, but after waiting nearly an hour to even get our soup delivered (to their credit, we were refunded 10% and the soup was flavorful), everything went downhill. I wish I could give half-stars, so I could give Madras Grill 4.5 stars. The food is generally very flavorsome, the service is excellent and the the food prices are reasonable. The only minus I have is that for the meats for the sauced entrees seem to be all cooked exactly the same in batches, and then mixed with the sauces. read more

Great good the chicken lollipop appetizer was my favorite as well as the chicken tikka masala. It was fresh and delivered on time as well.

We have been here a few times and both times were great! Of course now I can't remember what I had, but the first time was a safe dish (likely tikka masala or something) and then second time I tried something new. Both were excellent. Paired with the garlic naan its definitely a very filling and delicious meal. The decor is great and beats any of the other indian restaurants around and so does the food to be quite frank.
