Food definitely NOT fresh. Came back from a ski trip and wanted to eat an assortment of foods and decided to go to town with this buffet near me. Although price is great @ $20 for dinner, it wasn't even worth it and I wish I didn't come. Starting with the hibachi, the lo mein had a pale color to it and not the typical yellow from egg yolk. It may have been spaghetti. The veggies looked stale and the meats looked sad. When I went to grab seafood, I wasn't sure if I was going to get sick or not. The crawfish and shrimp meats literally disintegrated as I was peeling them. The clams were flavorless and rough. For the remaining food, you get the gist... Service was decent. They had enough servers to go around checking in on you for a beverage. Interior is nothing to write home about. Not the cleanest, not the dirtiest. If you need a full belly and don't care about quality, sure it's a great deal. But I intend to also enjoy my food. read more

I found it to be a fairly decent buffet. For $19.95 you will have plenty of options to fill you up. I enjoyed the hibachi and selecting my own vegetables, protein and condiments. That alone is worth the price of the buffet. Unfortunately mine was slightly overcooked as they have one grill station and mine was the first. I still enjoyed it. As for options, I liked the clams, fried sweet plantain and some of the dessert options. My partner said that the ribs and chicken teriyaki were good. He found some of the fried items to be soggy. Standard buffet fare with a price beyond reasonable for good reason. Roughly $14 grants one access to several rows of Chinese and American entrées, a low-grade sushi bar, and a hibachi grill that offers made to order plates with a wide variety of options. Prior to this visit I had never been to a Flaming Grill, and sure didn't know it was a chain, but wanted to give it a go despite less than tepid reviews. I've been craving a Chinese buffet for months now and this little quick fix helped soothe me over while I continue the hunt for something more...up to par. Unimpressed the second I walked in, the dining room was dimly lit and jarringly loud. However, it wasn't the chatter of dining patrons that filled the room with ear-aching ambient noise, but the silly, little, playful waiters and waitresses running amuck yelling and shouting and being all playful and whatnot with one another. Despite this disagreeable first impression I was seated almost immediately and browsing the steaming food trays within minutes. All the expected standards were there, sure, but more importantly the American dining row was full of options my kids would devour. French fries, pizza, chicken, and other kid-friendly alternatives confirmed, I would have eventually brought my kids here if it weren't for the rest of the experience. It's not that the food wasn't good, it just wasn't anything worth writing home about. A lot of the trays were next to empty, nothing was labeled right, I was dismissed when asked what was what, and the one bite of American food I tried was cold as ice. Now, from afar the sushi bar looked phenomenal! Up close though? It turned out to be basic cream cheese and imitation crab standards. A few fishy delights stood out, but the slices were stuck together and picking one up with the tongs proved to be detrimental to the makeup of the roll. Most of the pieces fell apart upon the slightest touch and when I did try to separate one, as it fell to pieces, the sushi "chef" shouted at me to "be careful! Careful!" Seriously?!? It's a $14 buffet and the quality showed through in the price. It tasted fairly fresh but I'd rather spend my money on rolls at the local Stop & Shop. I didn't try the hibachi and I regret that. Some of the plates I saw carried away from there looked absolutely mouthwatering. Maybe next time. My table was kept clear, my water always full, and my waitress very attentive and congenial. Cost us over 100 dollars for 4 adults and one child on a Sunday and most of the food was ice cold. I don't do seafood at a Chinese buffet so that eliminated half of the food they had. Everything else i tried was ice cold or dry. The hibachi was just ok and we had to flag someone for a refill on drinks. It was crowded and although seats were comfortable I had to sit at end of table due to people behind being so close. I have mixed feelings about this buffet. I was invited as a guest, so I couldn't critique and taste everything. Being pescatarian I did find lots of choices to sample. The fresh fruit looked amazing. The sushi I didn't try I'm kind of picky about that. I would say 50% of the items are fried and some items were really tasty . Mainly Chinese options which I'm OK with, although I can't tell you specifically what I liked best. The green muscles were nice and a decent size. The dessert section I thought was kind of limited for the amount of food that they have there, the fresh fruit was beautiful, but I was way too full to even attempt to try. There were no crab legs or any specialty items on the buffet in the middle of the week. ( LUNCH) That was kind of disappointing and my only negative is the next day. My dad comes here often. I've been here about 4 times since they first open. The host kid that seated us was super nice. They got your basic hot food, salad bar, deserts, a sushi section, and hibachi. Their sushi doesn't have any fancy rolls, I can't even remember seeing any rolls containing raw fish. Not a great buffet, but also not terrible. After entering through the doors of Flaming Grill & Buffet in Malden, one is greeted with cardboard boxes of supplies piled high near the checkout counter. Turn to your left, and you see the dining room, filled with seemingly happy customers. From the looks on everyone's faces I was excited to try this place but sadly left disappointed. First of all, they only have two soups: hot & sour and egg drop. The lack of wonton soup was felt deeply. Then onto the main courses. General Tsao's chicken, chicken on a stick, and this other hibachi chicken, all while having good flavor, contained bones I had to spit out. Only fried pork dumplings were offered which were lukewarm, foreshadowing my impression dining here. Not all was bad however: the chicken and broccoli, fries, fruit, and hibachi station were bright lights in an otherwise dim smorgasbord. The big kicker: no ice cream machine! Dessert options were to be found either in a tub of pre-packaged ice cream products or as an array of factory made cakes and "pastries". The atmosphere was typical of a Chinese buffet and was clean, although drop ceilings are always unsightly. Was around 20 dollars per person for a Sunday dinner. The food was fine. Standard cheap Chinese buffet quality and sushi also tasted mediocre. It was mostly rice and the fish didn't taste super fresh (although, how much can you expect for 20 a person for unlimited). The seafood all felt a little off and the food was kind of greasy and unflavored at times. Overall, it was a fine experience but I wouldn't really go out of my way for it at all. However, waitstaff were awesome, cleared plates when we needed, and even engaged in some conversation with us that we thoroughly enjoyed. Couldn't believe there were no chicken fingers or boneless spare ribs. Crab Rangoon pieces were bite sized. Had to go searching to find lo mein or fried rice. Both were unappetizing. So, they serve lunch till 330 and it's like a 4$ difference between lunch and dinner. When I walked in I was 5 min before 330. I made sure I noted that to the host. They walked us to our table, which was so close to the table next to it full of ppl. While there were tons of open tables. If the restaurant wants some feedback maybe it should be in 2 things: 1) The bathroom needs to be cleaned and probably re update the floors. 2) There is One waitress that pushes customers to give a 15% tip. I would probably do it if she was serving me the food but this is a buffet. A Tip in a buffet is just what the customer feels to leave in the table. Customers are serving their own food in there. Guys when I tell u that this place has a $13 buffet for lunch... UNREAL! I go to the gym at Crunch in the same plaza and needed a protein load after a workout. This was such a cheap eat and why arent people talking about?? It's your typical low-quality chinese food-style buffet (chow mein, kungpao chicken, beef&broccoli) with a basic sushi bar. They do have a Hibachi grill which is awesome, and all you can eat DIPPIN DOTS! Im happy with the amount im paying for, definitely a bang for your buck. If youre ever craving chinese, why not go here for a $13 AYCE chinese buffet? Amazing. One suggestion is that i want them to have more healthy options--- maybe Grilled Chicken Breast, a better salad bar, brown rice... something for healthy fitness freaks like me! read more

It isn't good when the best thing you ate at a restaurant is the complimentary candy you get after you pay. Upon parking in the spacious strip mall parking lot outside the restaurant we were hit with a bad smell. Red flag number one. Each station had a different type of food, a salad and fruit bar, a desert bar, a traditional American fair (pizza, fried fish, tater tats, chicken nuggets.) Traditional Chinese (crab Rangoon, pork dumpling, hibachi chicken, shrimp grilled and fried.) I got my first plate of food, a little bit of a fusion between the two and began to eat. Well, eat is a strong word. nibble and push to the side I think would be more accurate. Everything was over breaded, dry, fried too long and overcooked. The one thing I actually ate was a custard dumpling. Normally I would have just left but I wanted to give the Hibachi at least a try and at least look at the sushi. I grabbed a plate filled it with a few selections from the hibachi selection bar and handed it to the cook and in a few minutes I had a hot steaming plate and my day was looking up. The sushi selection was right next to the hibachi bar and didn't look great. I was about to leave when I looked up and at each one of the four corners of the sushi hibachi area was one of those long tubular fly paper rolls that you hang and pull down. If the place was closer to us in New York, I would be going there probably two times a week. It was our first time here at this location , usually we go to revere but I think this may be our go-to now ! Closer to home, quieter , more spaced out seating. Our dinner was delicious followed by the yummy chocolate cake and ice cream. The staff was super friendly and attentive which was nice. My only suggestion would be making sure the food is HOT. Though flavorful , it would've been better if food was hotter ! Otherwise, we were very pleased with our visit , we came to eat eat eat and that's what we did ! We will be back ! read more

This is your typical buffet place with a variety of Chinese, American, bbq food with sushi and hibachi-like options. There wasn't too many selections and the food was decent quality nothing super amazing. The sushi was not great but it not bad either. The best thing we had was the mayo shrimp which was super yummy. They also allow you to choose some veggies and meat that they can cook on a hibachi like grill for you with a selection of sauces. The quality is what you pay for. This place was liiiiit! (Get it? because...flaming grill? no? Just me, ok. lol) Entering the buffet, you walk to the podium (not the elongated desk, it's for take out lol); then you're seated by the host. This location you also pay at the end (vs at the Roslindale location, you pay before being seated). This is another new location from their original location in Revere; the second location is in Roslindale, MA. If I overheard correctly, the staff said they just opened 2 weeks ago. If we're comparing food tastes to the other two locations, this comes 2nd place to the first location (Revere)! First time in Roslindale location, the food was so bland, I will not go back! The wait staff definitely had it together here, they're not running around like headless chickens. Speaking of chickens, their fried chicken is delicious minus the fact that there was some pink inside. The sushi was tasteful. The CRAWFISH was alright, there was definitely more flavor (than the Roslindale had) but it felt like you were still waiting for the rest of the flavor to develop. It was still tasteful enough to consume a plate full though, lol. PSA though that some food items are for 'dinner only.' We came during dinner time but for those that are there for lunch but close enough to dinner time hours, I would look out for signs posted above the food item that indicates it's only for dinner customers only (unless you want to pay the dinner price vs. lunch price, not sure the price difference though). I would definitely come back here again. It's very clean, the music is very upbeat, the staff are friendly and attentive! We had our own table, and not shared like the incident in Roslindale. I highly recommend this location and Revere, not so much the Roslindale. First experience and impressions are a big deal for me especially with food and Roslindale was (cue Randy Jackson's voice) definitely a no for me dawg. The reason I give it five stars is it's literally the best Chinese buffet in New England. When it comes to restaurant food, especially Chinese food, I'm pretty picky. They have to be not only authentic but better than I can make from home. Otherwise why would I pay them plus the tips? Speaking of the food here, they're not 100% Americanized, they have steamed sticky rice, dim sum, roast ducks and so on, which you can only see from some Chinese restaurants or markets where only Chinese go to. This place is packed over weekends, but they keep refilling the food trays to make sure customers can have what they want. Price wise, the kid under 3 is free. Since we have a 2 year old, it's a bonus.(most Chinese restaurants charge little ones as young as 2 or so). The only reminder I would share is try to avoid weekdays, they don't have premium food options as they do over weekends. read more
