I got take out from here for lunch today. It was an amazing treat in the middle of my workday. First off the presentation was unexpectedly cute. I am used to traditional Styrofoam container, these were cute waxed boxes. I ordered the chicken sandwich with the side salad. The chicken was a large piece and you can tell it was hand battered and fried. The house made come slaw was everything. Added nice tang to the sandwich and balance the fried chicken. The bun was perfect, not to big. The salad was a very nice surprise of special treats in there. Feta, crispy chick peas, I think it was sweet potato fried strips and Nice vinaigrette. Picked up a carryout of southern fried chicken with eggs cooked medium and a turkey bacon avocado. WOW! Blown away by the southern fried chicken dish; the eggs cooked perfectly, the jalapeño bread and sausage gravy were bomb.com- if I dined in I would have asked for more gravy yet the other portions were generous. The bun , shredded lettuce, fresh tomato, large helping of avocado and the garlic mayo stole the show on the sandwich although if the turkey was warm I would have loved that too. We popped in here for a quick lunch before an appointment in town. We nearly missed the appointment, as it took over a half an hour to get our food, and it wasn't nearly busy enough to justify it. When my son had a question about something on their menu, rather than answer it, the lady at the front desk just pointed at the menu taped up on the wall. Not exactly friendly. My eggs Benedict was the most mediocre representation of the dish I've ever had; the English muffin was burnt on the outside edge, but not toasted on the inside, so it was hard to cut and mushy at the same time. The eggs were tiny, and there was maybe 2 teaspoons of hollandaise sauce on it. And to top of off, there's no ventilation in the place, so you sit there waiting in heat that's just sitting there. The food here has not let me down! I get a carry out from Mae's for Breakfast/Lunch once a week if I don't get the chance to dine in. The food is consistently good, quirky and hot! My personal favorite to get on the go is the breakfast burrito. It's probably one of the best burritos I've had in my life. The interior is so charming, and the vibe of the place makes you feel as if you're on vacation in a small town! Staff is extremely friendly, and helpful. I really enjoy the fact you can see the chef making every order with care. It gives you the open kitchen vibe, and you can see how clean everything is too. So glad to have this gem in my hometown! I love this place. There are a number of solid breakfast options in Mt Clemens, but this one stands out with food that seems like it was made with more pride and love than the average diner. The egg white omelette is fantastic. Probably the best egg white omelette I've ever had. It's fluffy, delicious, and the presentation is extremely appetizing. Additionally, I normally don't care about toast at all, but their asiago toast is way better than anyone would expect toast to be. The only issue, and it's a minor one, is that it's sort of unclear to me whether you get refills on coffee, and I wish this was clearer. Overall, I highly recommend this diner, and I believe anyone would be delighted with their food. read more

Nice new discovery in downtown Mount Clemens for me! I have used Grubhub as well as called in for a carry out and every time the food has been fresh and super tasty. The soups are really good, especially the tomato. Even though I'm not vegetarian I love getting impossible burgers because the taste is excellent and Mae's makes an excellent impossible burger. After heading to the farmers market we need to refuel. Maes was close and open. Wow we're we surprised! We got two coffees, avocado bennie, and the fried chicken breakfast. The potatoes were flavorful and fresh. My poached eggs were perfection and the little kick of the tomato salsa balanced perfect. My main squeeze let me have some of the jalapeño bread yummy. What a great addition to downtown Mount Clemens! Very bright, clean retro decor with exposed brick, white subway tile and tin ceiling tiles. Menu offers some thoughtful twists on classic breakfast and lunch mainstays. Cinnamon roll is a must and the avocado eggs benedict was original and excellent. At they're coffee counter I wish they would offer the half and half in a carafe vs bowl of creamers. Definitely returning soon. read more

The food was really good but the lady that took our order came up to me when i was on the phone and asked me to quiet down because my conversation was affecting the other customers.. there was only one other table and i wasn't even being loud... and then after she spoke to me the other table took a call and was on speaker phone the whole time. I could hear their whole conversation and the lady didn't say anything to them... so i guess they were a more important customer than me and my quiet, polite children. We also tipped 20% and i regret it. We won't be coming back because that whole experience was just weird. read more

WOW - went here for lunch for the first time and let me tell you, I will be back to try everything on that menu! I got the southern fried chicken and eggs and a cup of wild mushroom soup. The chicken and eggs were sitting on a couple pieces of jalapeno toast, but there were a couple pieces on the side too. Crunchy with a bit of heat but not too much at all. Everything was cooked PERFECTLY, and was so flavorful! The wild mushroom soup is by far the best mushroom soup I've ever had.
