This was my first visit, and I have to say it was a really good experience. We got there right when they opened, so there was no wait and we could sit wherever we liked. The menu had plenty of options, and the dining room had a nice electric fireplace - even in the summer, it added a cozy touch. We ordered the cinnamon roll, and while you can choose one or two, the server let us know one would be plenty to share, and it definitely was. It wasn't overly sweet, which I liked. We both had Maggie's breakfast: eggs, meat, toast, and breakfast potatoes that were especially good. I'm pretty particular about eggs, but these were some of the fluffiest and best-seasoned I've had in a while. Our waitress was efficient, helpful, and attentive. My martini was also really good. I didn't finish everything and took the rest home to enjoy the next morning. I'm looking forward to coming back for dinner sometime.

    French Onion Soup

Our first time visiting. I have always heard great things about this place. Menu is small but everything we ordered was excellent. My husband got the French onion soup, and the bangers and mashed. I got the cream of crab soup, and the crabcake sandwich meal. Ambiance is very nice. An old home that's been updated while still keeping the charm. Service was good as well. Our server was Dan was responsive and quick.

I love this place!! I like when they do the bottomless mimosas. This was a great spot at any occasion. I've gone here several times with great service. I like to try different entrees, but I enjoy the burgers the most. A beautiful spot, it's so nice inside.

Corn and Crab Hush Puppies - so good!

This place is great! Called ahead to ask about the patio and it was indeed dog friendly! Started off with the corn and crab hush puppies (YUM!) and followed with the apple butter burger and the BBQ bacon burger - both amazing and perfectly cooked. Really good fries too! Ask for Matt - great service and sooo friendly and helpful. He was sweet to our dog Nala too.

We stopped in at Maggie's for lunch. The food was delicious! We had the Brussels sprouts to start. I loved them. They are deep fried. But the flavor was amazing. Next up was the Crème of Crab soup. The soup was killer. The crème base was flavorful and just amount of crab in the soup. Ended with Strawberry salad with lemon balsamic dressing w / blackened chicken ( I share the chicken with my wife). The greens were spinach and arugula. The strawberries and blueberries were flavorful and the candied pecans were delicious. The service was excellent. If you are in this part of Maryland, stop in for a drink or a bite to eat.

    Crab and corn fritters

Brought my mom here for Mother's Day, it took a while to even be greeted and then a while again to have a server actually take our order. And yes I know what you're thinking it was Mother's Day, however I saw the same employees walk past us multiple times until a server finally stopped and asked if we were helped yet. My mom ordered the cream of crab soup, it was tasty but lots of shells. We ordered the corn and crab fritters they were huge in size but little in flavor, the remoulade sauce though was tasty. I got the classic eggs Benedict's with ham and breakfast potatoes. The eggs were cooked at two different temps, one egg was poached where it was still over easy (yum) the other egg was poached to the point where I could've made devil eggs with it (not as tasty). For the 45 min drive from Frederick it was nice to get away but I'm not sure I'd be pressed to go back for brunch again. Note- they were generous with the hollandaise sauce and it was rich and velvety!!! May have been the best part of my meal!

Receipt shows what we ordered. You can see the mold on the bread.

We really enjoyed our dinner and will definitely be going back again! Btw I chose the "OH MY COD" for my dinner and it was SO GOOD! Another food runner also deserves recognition because he was incredibly motivated and on top of everything. Their timing was perfect. Braydn seemed to intuitively know exactly when to check on us, refill our drinks, and ask if we were ready to order. She was genuinely friendly and looked like she truly enjoyed her job, which always makes for a better dining experience. We sampled a few cocktails, and my White Cosmo was absolutely delicious! For dinner, I ordered the Oh My Mahi, and "oh my" was exactly my reaction. The moist mahi mahi was served over a bed of saffron rice and topped with an Asian slaw. There were so many layers of flavor, and every bite depended on how you attacked it. I started by dragging my fork through the hoisin sauce and picking up some rice, fish, and slaw all together. The temperature and flavor combinations were remarkable with the hot saffron rice with just a hint of hoisin, the fresh, flaky fish, a pop of ginger, then the cooler, crisp crunch of carrots, cabbage, red onion, red pepper, and I think spinach. Every bite was different, the presentation was beautiful, and the meal was simply amazing. My husband ordered the Papa Burger, a clever play on "jalapeño popper." It featured two flavorful patties topped with bacon, jalapeño jelly, cheddar, cream cheese, sautéed onions, and fresh-cut fries. I stole one bite...then another...then a third! I'm officially renaming it the "Oh My Poppa Burger" because it may have been the best burger I've ever tasted. That says a lot because I'm a traditionalist when it comes to burgers. I'm not even a bacon fan. Yet somehow this combination just worked. What is in that cream cheese, bacon, and jalapeño jelly combo that make this burger so ridiculously good? Next time I'm in a burger mood, I am coming here! But everything looked so good so I may be back before that burger mood strikes. The only reason I'm giving Lost Lion four instead of five stars is that my husband would have loved to add a simple slice of tomato and some lettuce. We were hesitant to ask because we know substitutions can snowball, and we quickly got the impression that the chef preferred not to alter the menu as written. He didn't even dare ask for a side of ranch for the fries after this. If small additions like lettuce or tomato were an option, even for a small upcharge, it would make an already fantastic burger even better for some. That said, between the outstanding service, creative and delicious food, excellent cocktails, and warm ambiance on a Thursday evening, The Lost Lion made a wonderful first impression. We'll definitely be back.

Went for St Patty's Day ... it was just okay…read more The potato soup was good but they must be putting the potatoes in a blender. As it was more of a puree. I ordered the fish & chips. The sad part is you would get 2 nice pieces of fish and waffle fries. Now it's two fish sticks and a small amount of regular fries. Obviously the price is the same which sadly is a bad deal. Sorry but I won't be back. 1 beer , 1 cider , fish & chips, 2 cups of patio and the loaded fries were $60. And had to pick up a sandwich on the way home. No value ... don't understand what happened ... it's cod ... it's cheap. Change the price a buck or two if needed but cutting the portion by by 4/6s is sad

It's clean and dark and warm. I wasn't expecting a Cheers welcome but we weren't even created when we walked in. The hostess was at her stations all the way inside the bottom floor. The hostess was polite when we approached and sat us upstairs per our request. That's where the spell of the place evaporated. We sat about 10-15 minutes before our server made it to us. (The place was not busy outside of the bar down stairs. When she asked us what we wanted to drink my friend ordered I said "I need a second what do you recommend between...." she interrupted and said "I'll be back." It took 20 minutes to come back with his drink (Guinness in a warm beer glass) I asked for water, she didn't acknowledge me and walked away. I tried to get her attention for the next 20 minutes so we could order. She would walk past us. I tried to flag her down again nothing. After about 40 minutes she came back to take our order. We were still hoping to turn the trip around as we were excited about the menu. We ordered the shelpards pie potato skins, a bowl of cream of crab soup, a steak and the bangers stew. By the time our food made it to us we had been sitting almost an hour and a half. The soup was amazing. It was hot it was tasty the crab was forward, I really enjoyed it. The skins were mid. Some were over cooked some were just right. All of them were cold. It seemed like they were pre cooked and frozen to be reheated later. The steak was over cooked and all but flavorless. The potatoes were just wet mashed potatoes. And the beans were equally as bland. Non of it was hot. The bangers stew was... Almost edible. The potatoes. Good, onions and carrots and meat. All tasty on their own. The sauce though was ungodly sweet. So sweet that it made the rest inedible. All in all we were there for almost 2 hours. We were $91 into our tab. By the time the food came, we asked for our ticket and some boxes. We tried a few bites and left. I probably won't ever go back.
