Post follow up after owner response: Response is defensive and rude. Having an internship student is one thing but is the client ok with being service by a student? No one asked. Vietnamese own salon doesn't trim all cuticles, just what is necessary. It's ok that you don't align with their practice but to put it down and use it as an excuse for what you do or lack doing is lame. I went to other salons that use the cuticle ball as a trimmer but it's nicely clean, not like your work which left some dead dry cuticles that should be trim off. You might as well post exactly what you do and not do so people don't waste their time here. I gotten mani and pedi for the last 25 years with all sorts of business and their work is not as sloppy as yours. Instead of going on a defense mode, you should seriously look into how to manage/improve your store and keep customers, not drive them away with messed up work. It's a waste of time for customers to make a trip back to have corrections. ----- Owner price match on Groupon. I called in first and she preferred that you do not buy the deal through Groupon. Note: Groupon takes a certain amount from the price listed on their website. The owner does not pocket all the $. I was a bit iffy about that at first but she said to show her the deal on Groupon and she will charge that price. This location was pretty hard to locate and when you actually find it, the set up looks very questionable. If I come here by myself, I would seriously consider leaving...The store is so weirdly set up. It looks nothing like the posted pics here...cluttered and messy. There is only one person that does all the services. Her (Joanne) English is limited, only speaks Mandarin. Gel Pedicure - pre soak in warm water only, uses the drill to shave off cuticles, no softener, no oil, no lotion ....very questionable service. This process is not organize and not even sure if this is considered a pedicure. When I got home, I noticed dead skin that was not trim off. The massage chair is just for looks, it's not turn on when you are sitting in the chair. It seems like she is training someone to do nails too. They were speaking in Mandarin and the girl was recording the 'process' and asking questions here and there. Not sure if she is even license to practice. I understand mandarin but didn't speak to her...so I could understand their conversation. Gel nail colors are very limited, not a lot of selections. I had to decide on the least color I want bc there is not much to choose from!!!! Definitely not coming back. It's not worth it even if it's A Groupon deal. read more

PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING HERE: I really rarely leave bad reviews for small businesses because I know one bad review can be very negative for them so I try to be very lenient and graceful but I'm very upset and disappointed with my service. I have never had a worse looking pedicure (or manicure for that matter). It looks like a toddler did it and for the price, that is just unacceptable. The polish is thin and I can still see parts of my nail. Additionally there's gel polish on the surrounding skin. The nails itself are filed extremely unevenly and all of my nails are different shapes and lengths. I could have done it better and quicker myself. I was really looking forward to a relaxing treat for myself and I am coming out of the experience in tears. Although the nail tech was very sweet, I am just feeling like I completely wasted my money on this experience overall. If I could be refunded for this experience, I would feel satisfied and will happily take down this negative review as it's not my intention to tank their ratings if they're willing to hear out their customers concerns. As I was heading out the door, they called and changed to 30 mins later. Then as I pulled into the parking lot, they texted me they couldn't come in until an hour later. Complete waste of my time and gas! So unprofessional and didn't even apologize. DO NOT RECOMMEND! UPDATE: Joanna, Groupon allows vouchers to be gifted, which we discussed on the phone and which you were fully aware of before scheduling my appointment. Despite that, you proceeded to book me and then pressured me to cancel my Groupon so you could "price match" and bypass the platform. That is not my responsibility as a customer and shows that YOU yourself are being greedy, opportunistic and trying to play the system. Unfortunately, this experience reinforced the impression that customers using Groupons are treated as a lower priority. While businesses are free to choose whether or not to accept Groupons, it is deeply unprofessional to accept them begrudgingly and then provide a subpar experience. To be clear: you called me at 2:00 PM to change my 2:15 appointment, then texted me at 2:13 PM, when I was already parked, to say you couldn't make the 2:30 time either and asked me to return at 4:00 PM. That level of disorganization is unacceptable and a complete disregard for my time, regardless of the payment method. After I left an honest review describing my terrible experience, you proceeded to text me late at night on multiple days, attacking my character and harassing me. I asked you repeatedly to stop texting me, and ultimately had to block you. This escalation over a $15 Groupon is unnecessary and troubling. Your time would be better spent managing your business and addressing all the issues you complained about. Your horrific behavior throughout this experience has only confirmed that this is not a professional operation and not a business I wish to support. Customers beware: Save yourself the inconvenience and drama and go elsewhere. I have mixed feelings about Magic Beauty Wellness. I purchased a gel manicure + regular pedicure and I paid $38 on Groupon. Appointment: I called to make an appt on 5/31 for 6/16/2023 at 3:00 PM. I came around 10 minutes earlier and it looked like some of them were trying to take their lunch. During the phone call, I had specifically asked for Joanna (the owner of the shop) and I asked for her to help me since it looked like she had a few good reviews with her name mentioned. However, when I came in, Joanna had another worker help me out instead. I knew that the girl was not Joanna, and I pointed this out but she kind of disregarded my comments. During the appt, it seemed like the girl wasn't as fluent in English so we didn't speak much. She was actually careful with her work and patient. I had originally asked for another color, but it looked bad on my skin tone so we were able to wipe it off that one finger and start over. I was quite impressed with my gel manicure and with the shape of the nail. A few meh things though, unfortunately, she had given me a mini cut on the side of my index finger along the cuticle so that hurt a little bit. The second thing was my nails looked good but they started to chip on the 9th day mark. A little sad that they didn't last long... I had no issues with my regular pedicure. No pics cus no free feet on Yelp haha! Parking: The store itself is located on the side of Walnut Grove. I ended up parking where Mr. Dragon Noodle House/MCD plaza was and walked over. This parking lot can get a little crazy (so many stores + patrons) so it might be hard to grab a spot. However, when I came on that afternoon..I didn't run into any issues! Not really sure how I feel about this shop, I feel like my review is more of a 3-3.5 stars... so kind of mixed feelings for sure. read more
