Had a waxing here and she was good! Quick and painless...well as painless as a brazilian can be and she made you feel comfortable...I mean you lay there on a table with a woman you have never met, naked from the waist down, exposed and well let her inspect your *area* with a light..not for the modest! Also had my eyebrows waxed and she did a nice job..they have a nice lil arch in them. Am going back on Friday for eyelash extensions. Will let you know how she does. The girls name was Winnie...and for all you guys out there who want a boyzilian..she does men too! They do reflexology, facials, massages, hair.....have fun! Update: I went back and had the $20 foot massage and it was awesome. They put in a video of I think Viet Nam..just relaxing scenery. Very nice, a cup of tea and the girl goes to town on your back and neck first then your feet. This place does almost everything..excpet nails. Had my eyelashes done three weeks ago and went back for the free fill. I probably just stepped out of one of the most unorthodox but sterile and, shall we say, interesting brazilian waxes I have had to date. I had time to kill before my bf got off work and I had been trying to find said time to get a wax all week, so I got onto yelp and looked up a place close by that was able to take me. Magic hands spa was close so there I went! The shop looked a little shady on the outside, inside was ok. They had naturey music and the room smelled like flowers. I asked if anyone was there and a lady came out from the office. Asked if they an any open slots for a Brazilian and she went back to ask. Another lady, Amanda, came out and said she was in the middle of an appointment but could take me in 25 minutes. No problem, I just sat in the reception area typing another yelp review while I waited ;). When she was ready she came out and got me and showed me the room. It was decent, definitely not the worst I've been in, it was tidy and clean. It also smelled like Chinese herbal medicine, lol. I undressed and waited. Now this was the Unorthodox, albeit very sterile, part. When Amanda came in, she went to check the wax. Then went to wash her hands. She scrubbed way up past her elbows. She then proceeded to use clorox wipes, the kind you wipe down tables and counters with, to wipe her hands and arms. Um, I'm not sure if that's what they're used for, but ok. Then she put on gloves. It looked as if she was prepping for surgery! And with her scrub outfit, she definitely looked the part! I can say that she definitely killed whatever germs sheet have had on her skin. The wax itself was a novel experience too, as it was my first time having hard wax used on me. It was half soft wax, half hard. I dont know that I care for hard wax. The ripping off the wax part was less painful than soft wax, but it was at a much higher temperature which I did not enjoy. Afterwards, she used oil to remove the wax residue and then proceeded to use another clorox wipe to wipe ME down. Um...I feel germ free? Overall though, it was a very good and clean job. She doesn't try to make chitchat which I appreciated and she was very thorough. My skin wasn't red in the end like some waxes leave me. And at $55, it was a standard price. Overall, I would say a good job. If I'm ever in the 626 area in the same boat I was today, I think I would swing by again. read more

I think getting a massage for the first time from someplace new is like a blind date...you hope for the best and prepare for the worst. I was a mess this past Friday, tense, hating life, etc. So figured having a complete stranger rub all the bitterness and anger from my life would be just what the doctor ordered. I work in Duarte, searched Yelp - and came up with Magic Hands. I got a little nervous when I pulled up as it is in a strip mall that is somewhat poorly lit - put walked in and it was kind of like a little Oacis. Winnie greeted me - she is petite, polite and very pleasant. So I thought our little date was off to a good start. Stripped down to my undies, and all that bitterness, rage, self pity was magically lifted once she started her voodoo. I am a bit of a pansey when it comes to a massage (ouch that hurts if they apply enough pressure that would break a toothpick) but she managed to pop and snap all of the pressure without making me cry. Bottom line...we will be going on another date :). They have a coupon on their site ($40.00 for an hour) which was a bargin. I remember back in the day, (insert voice of Walter Brennan here--if you don't know who Walter Brennan is, then you're way to young to appreciate what I'm about to write) back in the day when I was young and strong. I could exercise HARD for hours, go to school, work my lousy pizza job, party all night, and still hop out of bed in the morning with zero ill effects. Never felt an ache. Joints never cracked. Feet never hurt. Now, with the big-5-oh right around the corner, it seems I can't do anything without hurting. Every workout results in some new strain, sprain or pain. Crap. Usually, a couple (of dozen) Tylenol do the trick, but a few months ago I developed a golf ball-sized knot in my left shoulder that just would not stop achin'. It just kept getting worse, until terrible pain and numbness shot down my arm. I've never been a touchy-feely kind of guy. I'd never had a professional massage and, frankly, I always thought the whole idea of having some stranger rub around on a person was kind of creepy. But desperate times call for desperate measures. Magic Hands Spa is right down the street from my house. I drove over there, steering the car with my one functional arm. It's in a strip mall next to a chiropractor and a liquor store. The 99 Cent Only Store is directly across the street. I'd diss the neighborhood, but it's my neighborhood, so maybe next time. In any case, I went in and ponied up $50 for a full hour. The masseuse directed me to a small room and left me to undress. I shivered under a sheet, face down on the table in nothing but my manties, until she came back and got to work. I told her where I was having the biggest problem, in that frickin' shoulder, and that's where she concentrated her...magic. Wow, did I get worked, but it was great. When the whole thing was over, my neck and shoulder felt markedly better and I've never been so relaxed in my whole life. It was even longer than an hour--just about 15 extra minutes. I've gone back a couple of times, and the numbness in my arm has completely resolved. I only wish I'd discovered the benefits of a good massage earlier in life. I highly recommend this place. My experience here was so terrible that I created an account just to write this review. Things didn't start off too well with a language difference. I tried to understand what the "table wash" on the menu was but instead of explaining to me, the masseuse kept asking me to pay money. It's a one person show: the receptionist is also the masseuse. It would've helped to let me know she was still working on another person and that I'd have to wait 10-15 minutes naked in the next room. When the massage finally started, the masseuse kept texting her friend and her iPhone beeped for every text message received and sent. She also answered two phone calls; I understand enough Mandarin to know what she was talking about, and they weren't even work related. She left the room for nearly three minutes without notice to get some hot towels. She proceeded to text friends during this period. Masseuse asked me to tip her on my way out. I don't know how she had the gonads to ask for something like that. About the massage: it was $50, but it felt the same as a $30 massage I would've received elsewhere. based on great Yelp reviews, I booked my appointment since I was sore from snowboarding. When I arrived the place was empty and we had to ring a bell several times to have the people come out. This lady came out of some room looking like she just woke up. When I told her "I'm here for my massage" she looked confused..... Then, another lady came out saying that the masseuse is with someone else who decided to walk in! Terrible service.. and really sketchy place..... I was looking for a place to get a quick wax and I found this place through yelp. It was quick and and almost painless. She didn't leave the area red and there were no ingrowns afterward. They are very clean and do not double dip even if it is just for arms or legs. She did mention that they do brazilians but, I did not try it here. read more

The massage was quite nice. The ambience was great. It was very clean. She made sure to go hard on the problem areas and it was effective. The female masseuse was very courteous, helpful, and attentive to small details of helping me feel comfortable. Ie getting a pillow to help me position better cause my face was getting a bit sore and a blanket when I was cold. I did not have to ask for any of these things; she just noticed. There have not been reviews for quite some time, but now it is 2014 and they seemed pretty good to me. A small note is that one of the ladies kept insisting for money first. It was a bit offputting, but I don't think she meant to come off as aggressive ... with English as a second language for her, I think it was forgivable. She seemed nice overall. read more

My back was aching so I made an appointment at this place because it was closest to my home. They charged $35 a half hour. They whole place looked shady but I didn't know better because it was my first time. I think those 2 women that operate the place lives there too. They said they had a full staff- 2people I guess. I didn't realize how broken their English was. One woman led me into a room and said something incomprehensible and closed the door. There was a flimsy sheet on the pad and a pair of what looked like men's boxers. So I go out and ask what do I do and the response was "OK, OK, no problem." Well I take off my clothes except my underclothes and put the flimsy cloth over me. She starts giving a full body massage but I did not want it, I wanted her to concentrate on my neck and back and she kept saying OK, but then she massaged my legs and I did not want her to. Then she tells me to turn over and I ask why, I want you to do my back and she says OK. I figure she will get to it later, let her do what she wants to do, give me the full treatment. To my horror, she massages my face and her hands felt sticky and unwashed. The place smelled dank and moldy. The floor was covered with hair and dark spots; it was disgusting. My sister was in another room getting a masage too. I got outside to wait for her and another woman asks me how it went. The lady that massaged me told her that since I didn't take all my clothes off, she couldn't do the oil massage, which she never even told me about. I didn't knowi t was an oil massage that came with the price. She then had the audacity to ask for a tip. It was a horrible experience. read more
