What a fun time at Magic Time Machine. We had lousy service from our lady bug !! But a friend in from out of town enjoyed the Tiki Hut and food. Lots of kids enjoying their birthdays and if service was moved towards those who pay the check, they would be able to make it another 10 years in Dallas area. As an adult we want our drinks refilled, dirty plates removed and attention to condiments. We had none of the above. Which is sad because the atmosphere was fun and the food to our surprise was yummy. Tiki hubby had the stuffed blackened prime rib and we tried the sirloin & shrimp all was tasty and cooked to order. Drinks came soooo slow and so did service, especially since not busy on a Wednesday night. I have been coming here since the 80's for events please give the adult parties as much attention as the kid tables with good service or you will not be here for years to come. Thought I reviewed this great experience before, but I need to make sure this shows up! We have made a point to come back when we make the drive from Quitman! Love the campy atmosphere. Oh my goodness, what a fun place. I am not going to go to the lengths necessary to describe the fun, crazy atmosphere. Each seating area had. A different theme and the servers were all different characters that they played in role. We all had the Roman Orgy (don't judge me). This is a family style meal that includes really good roasted chicken, a huge platter of brisket, corn on the cob that was phenomenal, roasted new potatoes and lots of different fruit. There were four grown men at our table and we did not come close to finishing the food. Definitely a fun place to go when celebrating something, or with a big group. read more

My husband and I brought our son for the first time on Sunday evening. We had Dracula as our server and he was PHENOMENAL. I really think he made our whole experience. My son is asking when we can go back and is calling everyone "humans" as he lurks around the house. :) We had the mozzarella sticks and they were really good. The salad car was fresh with lots of options. My son and husband had steak and ribs and loved it. I had the alfredo shrimp pasta - I was not a fan. This place finally got some updates! I've been going to Magic since I was 10. It had became a little rundown and I am glad to see beaming smiles (unless you get Wednesday Addams) and some fresh looks to the booths. Honestly, my daughter and I go every year for Valentines and sometimes her birthday. It's her favorite spot of all time. You can't find a more kid-centric place. As for the food, I've had their salmon, prime rib and chicken. I think all are slightly better than a family chain restaurant. The car salad bar is cool and always fresh. We do tend to go early 4:30-5:30 so service and food are on point. We've had Merida, Ursula, Wednesday and Harley Quinn all which have been fantastic performers. I truly feel this place is an unforgettable experience. I'm not sure my daughters or my own childhood would be complete without it. read more

We've been to the Magic Time Machine in San Antonio and had wonderful experiences! We had to be in the Dallas area for my daughter's surgery so we came a few days early for some fun and came to try this Magic Time Machine. Our experience started off with disappointment when we were told we couldn't get on the waitlist online or over the phone but had to be there in person. We have two small kids so we were hoping to do something else to keep them busy while we waited. We needed a table for 9 and knew it might take a while. Then while waiting we decided to go inside. It was so hot with no air flow. We waited an HOUR past the wait time quoted. We would have left except we were already there (since we had to be to get on the waitlist) AND this was specifically for our kids. Also, there was a large poster advertising the online waitlist . We kept getting the run around on seating. Then when a worker overheard us saying we had been waiting two hours they found us a space with two tables instead of 1. At this point we just wanted food and a cooler location. Our seats were in a slightly cooler part of the restaurant but it took some fanning of menus and frozen drinks to get us cooled down. The food was great. The fairy godmother was fun. And the rest of the experience was fantastic. I wanted to leave a 5 star review here like I did for San Antonio, but I just couldn't after waiting 2 hours. We will go back to SA, but I don't know if we will be back to this location in Addison. read more

The theme was fun, but the place was screaming for help! It kinda had an old lady grandma vibe. In some sense like an old theme park that was never kept up and dingy. I understand that the vibe is supposed to be historical but that doesn't meet you can up keep the carpet and such. This place is for kids if you want to enjoy it!! I had all the nostalgia coming in. The smells, the sights, the characters!! I had not been here since I was 5, and wanted to take my 5 and 3 year old for my son's birthday. We were in the Mario room, which is a circular room, booth style. Our waitress was Harley Quinn and she was fantastic. She was hilarious and age appropriate for my kiddos. They got a huge laugh with her playing peekaboo with them. They have a photographer come around and take your photos. Those are $10/photo. They also have a balloon artist that works on tips. For a drink we got the fizzy potion drink - $2.99. They can choose between red, blue, green, or ugly (all colors mixed) Kids menu- $8.99 and they are pretty large meals. It also included salad car which has a good assortment. It also comes with a side and a cookie for dessert. Adult meal- I got the shrimp fettuccine. It was on the pricey end but really good. This also included the salad car. I got a salad, potato salad, and a bean salad. My only "complaint" is that there is some adult theme to the menu. Like calling a meal item an "Orgy". My two little daughters have been picking MTM for their birthday dinners for the last couple years but we told them we will no longer go there after the pretty atrocious sight we saw last time. There is a female server who dresses up as Harley Quinn. We've seen her a few times. Not our favorite, but she's never been our server so we paid no mind. However, at our last visit, she was part of a crew singing the Roman Orgy song (is that really appropriate for a kids-themed restaurant?) at the table next to us and she was wearing shorts that covered MAYBE 50% of her rear end. My girls, wife, in-laws and I had this woman's bare butt in our faces while she sang this song. It was very offensive and totally inappropriate for little children. I worked in restaurant service a long time ago and I could never imagine letting one of my employees dress half naked. We saw sweet little children younger than ours dressed up as princesses and superheroes running around for autographs and all we could think of was they were destined to see this woman's naked rear end. Honestly, I don't know who's to blame more - the server for being so naive to think she could dress like that, or the manager for allowing it as I'm sure that night was not the first night she wore such skimpy shorts, but either should be let go for such audacious unprofessionalism and inappropriateness. Each visit has been exponentially worse as the newer characters are all on the dark goth side. There is maybe one kind princess-type character to 50% of the attendees being little girls, while the other characters are Wednesday Adams, Harley Quinn, and Disgust. There are very few positive characters anymore, but not that it matters to us anymore because that was our last time going. Nastiest place ever. read more

Me and my boyfriend came to MTM together for the first time since we were both kids. We came with the memories of fun characters, and overall a fun time. We were a bit disappointed with the whole experience. Let's start from the top, our server, spiderman, was great! He made good conversation and every time we saw him interacting with anyone he always had the same demeanor. I will say, other servers we saw looked like they hated their job, but I don't blame them. There were some very disrespectful children there last night. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, a bit on the rubbery side, but we figured since the restaurant isn't known for any particular type of food, it was fine. We went to the salad bar, such a cool concept and really enjoyed that everything had a theme. Not a lot of options for the salad bar in terms of different toppings, but understandable. This place caters towards children so I don't expect a ton of stuff that could possibly not get eaten. Then me and my boyfriend both ordered pasta. He had the chicken Alfred, and for me, the chicken Parmesan. The pasta tasted like some kind of dry, gluten free, cafeteria food pasta. It reminded us both of high school cafeteria meals. However the chicken on both of our meals was FANTASTIC. Probably the best part of our meal. Our meals also came with bread and butter. I honestly don't think the butter was edible. It was genuinely awful, and tasted super super salty and almost watery? I'm not exactly how to describe it but it almost tasted like the butter was in a glass of water and they pulled it out. I could not even swallow it. Like I said, this place caters towards kids, I don't expect super super high quality food or anything, especially for everything being so cheap. I will say, this place was CRAWLING with screaming kids the entire night. I don't know if there was some kind of scavenger hunt or something where the kids get signatures from each character but the kids were CROWDING around the kitchen where the servers and workers were running in and out of to keep the place running. They servers asked them multiple times to please move out of the way and wait. I could tell how stressed out and overwhelmed everyone looked. We had the BEST time tonight! We went with a party of 10 (4 kids under 10 & 6 adults) and arrived just before 5 on Saturday night. We were seated immediately (as soon as the second car in our party parked and those people entered). Note: they do not take reservations for parties under 25-so go early! We sat in the school bus and Harley Quinn was our server. She was FANTASTIC! I can't say enough about her. She was funny with the adults and she was sweet to the kids. Our food came out quick and was so yummy! Everyone liked the apps and main courses. We had adult beverages and kid beverages that bubbled and were colorful which was a fun touch. We had a birthday in our party and they brought out a dessert and sang a nice embarrassing song! A few notes: this is an older establishment and the temp wasn't consistent all over, so dress accordingly for the summer heat. It wasn't uncomfortable and they did have extra fans in certain places. Also the restaurant was not dirty like some other reviews stated. All of the wait staff interacted with our kids and everyone was very polite and inviting. Also the food was good--especially the Alfredo and the Magic Potion drinks! And there is an up close magic show upstairs at 6 and 6:30 and more throughout the night. $3/person and my kids (and the adults) were thoroughly entertained!
