This was my 1st visit at Magnolia Blue. Based on the previous reviews, I was excited. I'm not sure why the one low review addressed layout, as it seems perfectly comfortable and easy to navigate. I might suggest the locate my friends app for that reviewer. My party ordered the pot roast and chicken and dumplings. Beer and wine selections are good. My hang up with this and other restaurants is the ridiculous mark up on wines. The food was above average, however pricey for what is delivered. I understand the no salt and pepper at the table concept, as well prepared food should not require it. The pot roast was amazing, however the dish was loaded with bland potatoes that needed some type of wake me up. The chicken and dumplings met expectations. Service was a bit slow and missed a few refill opportunities. A few changes and adjustments with prices would earn another star. read more

This place was lovely! They have a small area for sitting inside by the bar, and they have two outdoor sitting areas. We choose outside because the weather was perfect and we went around dinner time. We were the only group in our area outside, but once there was someone else they asked us if we were okay with others by us. Which was super nice! But they also separated us a good distance so we all felt comfortable. Our table ordered two dips to start, the pimento cheese with ritz crackers, and the magnolia dip. Both very good, but the magnolia had a little more of a kick to it and you could taste a bunch of yummy flavors. Id recommend that over the pimento. Plus they gave you toasted bread with it, which was cooked perfectly. Soft and crunchy at the same time. mmm! Then I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with a side salad for my entree. The burger came with a "special sauce" but honestly it didn't taste like much. I wish there was a little more to it. But overall it was cooked well and tasted good. I was super full, but once the waitress started naming off the dessert menu I instantly felt a little more room in my tummy when she said the words BREAD PUDDING. Ha I'm a sucker for bread pudding. It was very tasty but it probably didn't need as many chocolate chips as they gave? It was very overpowering and you couldn't enjoy the bread of the bread pudding. read more

This is for the locals in Emory-wood. So, when you get there, push those people out of the way and take your seat. The most pompous clientele I have ever seen....in High Point of all places!! So the problem is the clientele, not the food, so go an enjoy despite the upper class! :) They think this is there spot and you are not welcome. So fight through that financial racism and you will have a nice meal!! read more

Went on a Saturday around 7:30. Upon entering the hostess immediately demanded "Do you have a reservation?" When we responded that we did not she responded "We might be able to seat you an hour or two." It was obvious she hoped that we refused her offer. I didn't turn around as we exited but I imagine she smiled as we departed. read more

We came to this restaurant for a birthday celebration. We were seated in a very noisy area. My adult daughter was having a very bad day and the noise was overwhelming her. I spoke to our waitress and as soon as a table opened in the quieter dining area, she moved us. It was greatly appreciated and made our dining experience much better all around. Sometimes, the simplest kindness means the world to a person who may look fine on the outside but is crumbling on the inside. I really appreciate the way this waitress listened and helped us that evening. And the food was fantastic, too. read more

I went to dinner alone to celebrate my anniversary with a late loved one last night and decided to come back to our first date spot. I was greeted & seated immediately. My server Jayla was welcoming, knowledgeable and patient as I debated several of the wonderful looking menu items. The service, food, and ambience is good but not spectacular- just yet. I fully believe this place is capable of 5 stars- all of the food we had was delicious, especially the chicken and waffles. However, I do not believe Magnolia Blue has quite reached its potential. The table set was basic, with a southern feel (although our small candle, the only decoration- was not lit adding for a darker ambient experience). Service was genuine, friendly, and consistent. Point is, although the experience was good, I wouldn't say they are running like a well oiled machine just yet (they just got started, give them a break!). I can't wait to see where this place is in a year! Pro tip- get the Nashville hot oysters. They are absolutely beautiful and you will not be disappointed. read more

This restaurant does not have the wines listed on the menu or the website. If wine is important (which it is to me), skip this place. Looked like had a lot of local beers. Service is good enough. The Mac & Cheese on appetizer list got rave reviews from the teenager. Server brought out couple wrong items saying she could not hear us, so that might have been our error. Food was good. Solid portions. Like the wine, server had to go through what they don't have on the dessert list. Will not be back. read more

We stopped in here at the last minute on our way back from Home Depot. We were pleasantly surprised that we were able to get in get a table on a Sunday morning and have brunch. They have a nice standard bloody Mary's and mimosas as well as a brunch menu. I got the chicken and waffles with a spicy honey sauce, the honey sauce was not actually that spicy so I was a little disappointed there but the waffles were fabulous. Our server wore a mask and was able to communicate all the specials & even made some recommendations. This is our second time at Magnolia Blue but the first time for brunch - we will definitely go back and try more items from the menu! read more

I had been wanting to go here so bad but never could find the time but I finally found it. Nice atmosphere in the front by the bar, never got to to see the back of the restaurant unfortunately. Table was very small for two people. My daughter enjoyed her food but I didn't care for the sauce on my steak. The manager came around and asked me to be honest and I told him. He was very nice and ordered me the salmon which was great with the grits. Very good customer service by him! That earned a star back for sure. I was a bit annoyed when my to-go box and check was placed on the seat beside me by the waitress. I'll try this place again with my adult friends so I can have a drink from the bar. read more

Had this for my birthday dinner. (May 1st) Ordered online and they brought it out to the car; it was during quarantine time, so I didnt get to see how nice the restaurant was inside but I cant wait to go back! I ordered the bayou shrimp and crab pasta. The spice and the creamy sauce made the pasta so tasty. I also ordered a crab cake and it was one of the best crab cakes that I've ever eaten in my life. There is also a dipping sauce that comes with the crab cake. It was kinda tasted like a fancy Cesar dressing, but try it bc it paired well with the crab cake. The pasta dish had nice large pieces of shrimp and seafood in it, and was enough to split into two meals. The next day the pasta was just as delicious as the first. read more

We sat outside which was lovely and the music added to the vibe. My mom made reservations weeks in advance for my dad's birthday dinner this past weekend. Well on the day it was scheduled, they called my mom a few hours prior to our scheduled time and advised they already had a big party and would not be able to accommodate us. A plan might game with the H-P Rockrrs got rained out. So we headed to Magnolia Blue for dinner. Our group of five ordered: 2 chicken and waffles, 1 pot roast, 1 chicken in gravy and 1 cheeseburger. I had the cheeseburger with a cup of gumbo soup. The soup was way too salty to be consumed. My burger was awesome. My wife and Mom loved their orders of chicken and waffles. When arrived at 7pm. Was sat at our table ! We had Madison she was good. We started with drinks and the bread was hot and good. We ordered apps shrimp tempura ( was the best ) the white sauce didn't go with though, we had Nashville hot oysters the were decent with a good burn I would have thought you would have gotten homemade pickle that's was disappointing but good, we had Deviled eggs they were little off in taste, last we had the corn dip it was ok others love it . Then off to Entrees the girls all ordered prime rib they all came out cold and one was not even big at size. We sent back and we were told they were last ones but the manager did cook them ribeyes and no cost and end up pretty good. The mash potatoes ugh they were awful and tasteless and the asparagus was decent but nothing to write home about . The we had blackened Mahi and grits there was no blackened on there little disappointing. Also had rack of ribs they were good with sweet bbq sauce . Again mash were tasteless. Last was a pork chop on salmon set up. Let's say that was nice of them to do that . But the grits were worst grits every collards were ok little smoke but ok. Pork chop was really good. We want go back just because you expect more out of that place . But it's ok we had fun and that's ok. read more

If I could give no stars then I would. This past weekend was my first time visiting North Carolina, and we wanted to try this place. We checked it out on yelp, and the food looked great. The staff here were amiable. Our issues were with the wait time and the food quality. We arrived at 2:56 pm and ordered our entrees soon after. We did not get our food until 3:47 pm. It wasn't jam-packed, but I figured they were just short-staffed. When our food arrived, it was cold. I ordered the MB skillet and added shrimp; my grits were cold and hard. Also, the others at my table had cold food as well. I was very disappointed. We noticed another table having the same problem too!! They offered us a free dessert and warmed-up food.. that's it, with no accommodations for our wasted time spent and horrible experience being our first time dining there. So we left and went up the street to another nearby restaurant instead of taking the warmed-up food and free dessert as the manager insisted. He asked us to please return, but my thoughts were, "for what." read more

My husband and I came here for Sunday brunch. They were pretty busy, but we were seated without a wait or reservation. They do take reservations by phone. There was indoor and outdoor seating and the area is pretty spacious. We both ordered drinks to start, I ordered a spritzer and he an old fashion. Both were strong, so take that as you will. We both ordered egg benedicts, he the crab cake and I the crescent city. His was better, but I wasn't very impressed with either. The service was good for most of our time there, it took awhile to get our food and forever to get the check to leave. Overall, I'm not sure I would come back for brunch, but their dinner menu looks great so I might come back to try that. read more

Traveling through high point. Early June 2020 - just as post Covid is opening up. They had great food, good service. Other than the waitress wearing a mask, the other post covid requirements were not intrusive. The food was really good - more Cajun than Carolina Southern. Beers were good - I think one of the IPAs was a little flat, maybe had been on tap since before shut down? Overall - happy they are open and great. read more
