Stop by here with my friend right before leaving back to SD, it's a small little joint but when you enter the store an aroma of sweetness fills ups ur senses. But, instead of getting anything sweet my friend and I were craving something savory and the croissant with ham, egg, and cheese was just the perfect choice! The crossiant was huge and freshly baked at the shop and they did not skimp on the ham nor the egg inside... didn't finish it because we were full. It was a good meal before hitting the road. This used to be my favorite donut place but my last two encounters have been disappointing. In my visit today, everyone was attentive, but the lady only put 11 donuts in my box of a dozen, and she just put all of the donuts on top of each other so it was very messy. In my previous visit, service was very poor and the lady in charge was rude to me. She also put about a tsp of cream cheese on my bagel. All I can say is Awesome! I have been going to Mag's donuts for well over 20 years now. Well... not as much as I used to as I don't live in the area anymore, but you better believe that as soon as I have a chance, I try and stop by for a ham and cheese croissant or a maple bar. Donuts are always fresh here, due in part to its prime location on Culver/Michelson plus the proximity of at least three churches within walking distance, a high school, a university, and at least four different apartment/housing complexes all jampacked within a mile of the shop. Not even kidding. So many people come here for breakfast--senior citizens, families, kids out of school, dogwalkers, etc. You name it. That just means fast turnover and fresher donuts for the rest of us. Their chocolate glazed is good. So is their ham and cheese croissant--quite large, and I don't know what kind of cheese they use in there but if you eat one of those things for breakfast, you're set for the whole day. No joke. I have been trying many donut places lately looking for a great donut. In full disclosure, I live very close to Mags, so I felt like I had to look far and wide for the best donuts; who is lucky enough to live near the best donuts in Orange County? Well, after having tried many places, there is no doubt Mag's is the best. The blueberry donuts are fantastic, with great texture and flavor. My other favorites (chocolate bar, jelly, chocolate cake with sprinkles, old fashioned sour cream) are all great as well. I have never had a donut taste like old oil, the service is friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. Someone had to be lucky enough to live by the best donuts in Orange County, and I'm glad it's me! read more

Went in here this Saturday afternoon looking for a sweet bite to eat. My husband and I came in wanting about 2 or more doughnuts each, their selection was impressive. Everything was out on display, Cronus, came doughnuts, French cruelers, you name it-they had the selection! Impressed with the amount they had at the time we went-a lot of doughnut shops only have a few for selection in the middle of the day. However, the doughnuts weren't warm and as fresh as I would have liked-maybe coming back in the morning will have a different outcome in the temperature and freshness-that being said they were still delicious!will come back-sometime during a morning for sure! read more

Mag's does an excellent job for that early morning treat! Their yeast doughnuts are light and airy, and the blueberry donut holes are insanely good. Great variety and great friendly customer care. Usually stop and get a dozen once a week for my team. They are always happy to see the fun and rather elegant Mag's donut box. read more

So check this out, Yesterday a customer brought a box of donuts into the shop and left them with us all they long. I usually don't eat donuts, in fact I don't even like donuts but this morning as I'm lying in bed I told my wife that I need to find out where those donuts came from because they were so good. Friendly family owned place, large selection of fresh donuts every day. Big fan of the cronuts, which always have the danger of being over-fried, leaving a crunchy donut instead of the flaky croissant texture - the ones from Mags are perfect, with a great variety of glazes/fillings. read more

For the past 5 years, I have purchased donuts from this donut shop when I am in the mood for a tasty treat. However recently, I have noticed that the donuts have become greasy. In fact, yesterday I threw one donut away because it was too greasy for consumption. It looked greasy ... felt greasy ... and tasted greasy. Maybe it was merely a result of the deep-frying cooking style on that particular day, but I don't plan to return to this donut store in the near future. This place has the worse, I mean the worse customer service. Came in tonight with my daughter, not only she got my order wrong, the lady who came out of nowhere did not even say hi, nor ho, her PR sucks. I went on a Friday and the line was out the door. I wasn't as impressed by the taste as I was by the looks of the donuts. They were a little greasy in my opinon but the piece de resistanse was definitely the Chocolate/Strawberry Cronut. Perfectly fried, flaky and flavorful. I have so many great memories of this place. We used to live in Park West Apartments when we first moved to Cali back in the 80s, and I would walk back from University Park Elementary, past by the Alpha Beta every day. I remember getting donuts from here even then...in fact, there was a time they even sold cake (which admittedly was too sweet for my FOBby sugar palate...East Asians really like their pastries less sweet than the average American!). But man, those donuts! Always good...the sugar yeast donuts, the maple bars, those custard filled ones. Seriously, I never "GOT" what was so great about Krispy Kreme, with Mag's around. And I love that it's been owned by the same family for all this time. Ah, nostalgia. Well, I went with my sis and the boy to get some newly-developed cronuts a couple weeks ago, and they were amazing. Flaky, buttery pastry, delicious and fresh cream & strawberries.
