Upon retrieving my order, I discovered that my ham and cheese croissant was not fully cooked. I even saw the lady cook both of them together, not separately. The mayonnaise and cheese were cold in the center, which was quite unpleasant and disappointing. Mags Donuts, a well-established establishment in Irvine, has maintained high standards for a considerable period. However, I believe it is imperative to conduct regular inspections by health authorities to ensure compliance with hygiene regulations. Recently, I observed a fly inside the donut and bagel cases, which is a clear indication of inadequate sanitation practices. The environment was slow. There wasn't that many people inside. The ladies are amazing and sweet but they do not know English as good!! There is a massive language barrier but I have to give it to them. They are good with recovering. They gave me another food item as complimentary after mentioning how upset I felt besides that, poor experience. One of my friends discovered an app that allows you to purchase food that is going to be tossed, and we found Mag's on this app. For $10 dollars we got a mystery box of donuts, and we decided to try them all mukbang style. First and foremost, the worker was very helpful (showing us how to work the app, etc), and they had the box ready to go as soon as we got there. I was not expecting the service to be that quick, so that was lovely. Now onto the donuts: I want to say that all of these donuts were tried late at night, and so I took into account that they were probably better in the morning (fresher!) Despite this, the dough on the majority of them was still very fluffy, and none of them were noticeably "stale". My friends and I each had a bite of every donut, and in the interest of saving time, I'm just going to highlight our favorites. Myself: The Cronut was unexpectedly my number one. It was the perfect mix of not too sweet/not too savory and was just fantastic. The texture and layering were perfect, and I loved the glaze. Just delicious. I also enjoyed the apple fritter (Classic) and the basic powdered sugar twist. My friend Marco lauded the quasi-cinnamon roll, which we all agreed was quite good, as well as the apple fritter (Good choice, Marco!). My other friend, Kat, was a big fan of the cinnamon sugar twist, as well as the glazed bar. So my coworker brought in donuts this morning from Mags in Irvine before her morning commute to LB. I hear DONUTS, so I go pick my poison. My favorite donut called me--Le Petit French Cruller sitting in the corner of the box in all its choco-covered glory. No napkins came with the donuts. Alright, I go grab some paper towels from the paper towel dispenser, and pick my donut. It's a fairly large size for a cruller, just a little bigger than the palm of my hand. Heavily frosted. Runny. This should be interesting... I take my first bite. Airy interior, which is right. Texture is chewy and soggy from the drippy frosting, which was overly sweet. Sugary water parted from the frosting and permeated through the Pâte à Choux. Overall, disappointing. I should have chosen the plain French Cruller. The frosting completely killed this experience for me. I ended up dumping the other half. read more

Sadly, I'm not a huge fan of Mag's donuts. I've been to Mag's before and ordered regular cake donuts, donut holes, and their maple bacon donut. I didn't understand the hype behind their blueberry donut, I don't like the artificial blueberry taste that is very strong in this donut. I've had the blueberry in regular cake donut and donut hole form and it's really not good. I've had it warm/fresh once and it was slightly better, but again nothing spectacular and I'm not a fan of the artificial blueberry taste. As for their regular donuts, it is just okay... for donut holes, I much prefer the ones from Donut Star, they taste more fluffy and fresh compared to Mag's. The only possibly redeeming donut here are the cronuts. As of today, I've tried the nutella cronut and maple bacon cronut. It's a hit or miss with these cronuts because the outside is not always crispy depending whether it's fresh and which one you buy. The nutella cronut is still crispy when it cools down but the maple bacon is just soft and chewy and not crispy when its cooled down since its covered in maple glaze. As of today, the price for one of the flavored cronuts is $4. I don't think it's worth the price if the cronut is not crispy on the outside. So perhaps the chocolate one is worth it but the maple bacon cronut just feels like a greasy almost soggy donut when it's not crispy. I would still recommend coming here to try the cronut if you're really craving it and this place is your only option. Otherwise, Mag's is just okag. read more

I placed an order last night for pick up today. After I made all my selections (wide array of items), I paid and then asked for a 5am pick up time since I had to drive to LA for an early meeting. They were hesitant since they open at 5am but then assured me everything would be ready. When I got to Mag's Donuts this morning just after 5am, my order was ready! All my co-workers raved about the cronuts! They loved all of them: Nutella, glazed, strawberry with whipped cream, and strawberry with custard. We couldn't decide which was the best! I love me some donuts and Mag's did not disappoint. We got the regular glazed, blueberry glazed and cereal (fruity pebble) donut. The glaze on these donuts are P E R F E C T. The donut itself is nice and chewy, moist and not dry. These were some thicc bois. The glazed blueberry donut was yummy but I prefer the regular glaze since the blueberry was too cakey for my preference. I didn't try the cereal one but I'm sure it was yummy too!
