Note that lobby is only staffed 10-6p, but there are extra towels, toiletries, snacks available in the lobby if you arrive early or late and they give you an access code. I stayed at the Mahala 21 Over Resort in Palm Springs and loved it! The grounds were super quiet, perfect for relaxing. The rooms were clean and simple with a cool wicker-like floor. There wasn't a closet, just wall pegs with four hangers, but it wasn't a big deal--maybe bring a couple extra hangers. The room had a Keurig, a fridge with sparkling water, bottled water, chocolate, and 7-Up, plus two plastic wine cups and two plastic coffee cups. There's an ice machine and a water refill station with hot and cold options, so bring a reusable bottle to fill up. We headed to Mahala to celebrate my husbands birthday. We usually stay at a different hotel but decided to give this new place a try after seeing the Yelp reviews. The place is beautiful and impeccably clean. We had a big issue with the room and checked out early and unhappy, HOWEVER we were totally impressed with how Chad, the hotel manager, handled our situation. He contacted us almost immediately upon our departure (we left before the front desk was open) and took full responsibility for the problem. He ended up making up for our bad weekend by calling and texting both my husband and myself to apologize and invite us back at his expense to give them a second chance at a super relaxing weekend. Thank you Chad for turning unhappy people into satisfied guests. We will try staying at Mahala in the near future and give them another chance! read more

New favorite hotel, so glad we found this place. Chad was amazing at helping us get our room and get us all checked in, and gave excellent service with a tour Entrance is gorgeous, the grounds are lovely and manicured, the pool is quaint (has hottub also) , the entire property has lovely touches : bistro lights, sculptures, fireplace, tiling, plants ! The rooms are beautiful, with gorgeous murals over the bed, personal SMEG fridges with free coffee and snacks, smart TVs, massive fancy showers with water pressure control (amazing!!) It's amidst the soft opening so we have soft recommendations: the jute carpet is painful on the feet, bathroom needs shelving under sink, lack of wardrobe/closet is a bit tough, shower curtain is not quite long enough (Room 1) to go all the way around to enclose / keep warm. & Bike rentals would be a nice touch since we are a bit long of a walk from downtown :) Overall we absolutely loved our stay and cannot wait to return here ~ frequently ! Very nice modern place. Clean and basic amenities are great. Couple of tips, save your access code or you can't get back in to the courtyard and room. Also sissal rug is tough on feet. Shower needs a grab bar for safety. I highly recommend this place. read more

Where do I even begin? Let's start with I'm not even done with my stay and I'm giving this 5 stars. From before I even arrived communication was prompt and pleasant bordering on joyful. They texted me a few times confirming my stay and expressing excitement. I checked in after the office hours and the directions sent ahead of time were clear and easy to follow. As soon as I walked in I was struck by how beautiful the public area and pool were. It was like walking into a mid-century dream and I hadn't even gotten into my room! Speaking of, what a charming and delightful room. The decor was on point, the bed comfortable and yummy snacks and water on top of it all! I'm already planning my next stay. Stayed here for one night wish I could have stayed here longer. Definitely a gem. Fast check In communication from Chad was superb. I love the comp snacks in cute smeg fridge. Pool is small but perfect. Location wasn't far away 5-7min uber ride to downtown Palm Springs shopping area. Overall this was a great choice to stay in. My only complaint is the rug, I dont know if it's a jute rug but it was a lil rough on the feet. Either than that will definitely stay here again. read more

Chad at the front desk was very attentive and accommodating. The room looks like it had its own dedicated hvac unit with hepa filter. The renovated interior looks clean and modern, and snacks and beverages in the rooms were complimentary. There were two things though- the only mirror inside the suite was above the sink.. and was way too high if you wanted to be seated while doing makeup or something. The bedroom floors were also made of what feels like sisal rope so it's recommended to have room slippers (Chad mentioned they had slippers by request). You get issued an actual hard key for suite entry. The central hangout area has room for a small group to be around a fire. There's several beds (with a few of them having shade) for sunning. The pool and jacuzzi on site did not seem to be renovated but was great to have, to escape the heat. Keep in mind though that the pool is only 4.5ft depth at the deepest area. The parking lot is in the back of the building. Overall a quaint boutique motel. read more

Located conveniently off one of the main streets right as you get into downtown, Mahala offers one of the most luxurious and understated places to stay in the entire town. It's brand new so everything is state of the art and it's clear no expense was spared in its furnishings. The decor of the main courtyard as well as each individual room is meticulously appointed but blends so seamlessly with the backdrop of the lush palm trees and textured mountains in the distance. Peaceful, quiet, and most of all safe due to its gage and secured points of entry. Certainly worth the price per night its asks for. Bonus tip, Chad is the most accommodating and kind manager. Attentive and available, but not overbearing. Will definitely be the place we plan to stay whenever we are in town. I really enjoyed that it's within walking distance of all the small shops and boutiques around town. It's a smaller hotel which I much prefer to larger mega resorts, in that it offers a far more intimate and serene setting for relaxing and unwinding. Enjoyed my 3 night stay at Mahala. Robert was perfect and provided tons of great places to eat and enjoy our evening. The room and hotel was very clean and got amazing sleep during my stay there. My favorite parts of the room had to be the shower and old school refrigerator. The television had the options for all the streaming sites(don't forget to sign out). The complimentary snacks were the icing on the cake after a long drive at night and most things being closed. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Palm Springs. Walking distance away from great restaurants and convenience stores. Definitely will be back!!! read more

I almost hate to write this, because it's a small boutique hotel and will soon be super popular. I've probably stayed at about 40 hotels in PS . . even the newer ones. This is probably the best. Brand new, huge room, smart design, perfect outdoor area. Great views even . . you can see the snow-capped mountains from the pool area. Free snacks and beverages in each room. Very quiet, probably due to it's small size. They are very up to date with what today's travelers want. You don't even have to visit lobby for check in or check out. High walkability factor . . some great restaurants just a few feet away . .. Sandfish, Uptown 1501, Rick's for breakfast. Cannot say enough good about this place! read more

Amazing.... Happened upon the Hotel via Hotels.com and I have to say what a wonderful place to stay. Quiet, comfortable, exceptionally clean, and a real hidden jewel for the desert. Palm Springs is lucky to have a place that out shines the other boutique hotels. Heated swimming pool, jacuzzi at the right temperature, comfortable bed and pillows, large wonderful shower with the rain head...(ohhhh man) I wish we had stayed another evening. It is close to everything yet just away enough to not be in the mess of downtown. Robert is so accommodating, ready with suggestions, tips, and information about all the local places. ***Please stop to read! I hardly leave reviews, but this was beyond necessary. I booked a stay at Mahala and was so excited to check out the new hotel. I sadly found out that my dog had cancer, and did not feel comfortable going on my planned trip. I saw the cancellation policy, and knew I would not be meeting the 7-day notice for a full refund. I was trying to cancel just a little over 3 days before my trip. I decided to take a chance and see if there was any possibility of canceling or receiving a partial refund. Robert, the GM, reached out to me and told me he was canceling my stay with no penalty and that he was sorry to hear about my dog. If this isn't customer service at it's finest, I don't know what is. Being a brand new hotel, emerging after a pandemic, they had every right to charge me the full amount and uphold the cancelation policy I agreed to. Robert put my needs first and now has a loyal customer in me. His actions spoke so loudly and I can't wait to go back and fulfill my stay. We have found our favorite hotel here at Palms Springs! It's such a beautiful hotel. You are 8-10 minutes away driving distance from downtown. The hotel manager gave us a tour of the property which was so nice. You have easy access to the pool/hot tub and they have an ice machine available for guests to use. Mahala was very clean and the location was perfect! It was not far from downtown Palm Springs, about a 3 minute drive (if that). It was an incredibly personable experience from the moment we walked in. We were greeted outside immediately by Robert. He gave us recommendations on where to eat that was close by. We would receive text messages asking if there was anything we needed... only snacks on our side. :) Which they refilled. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. It was an incredibly intimate experience. I would highly recommend this place if you are having a romantic get away. read more

Over the Christmas holiday we spent several days at the Mahala hotel. It was a very good value for the price. Heated, pool, nice retro vibe, immaculate room, comfortable bed, refrigerator stocked with water and sodas, snacks and an easy walk to restaurants and museum. If I could give this place 4 1/2 stars on this app I would. I'll start by saying this there was no detail that was missed as far as how it's set up both inside and out of the room. It's convenient if you're coming in from other side. There's plenty of semi private parking in back, which is monitored by cameras. There's a code to gain entrance into the property. Once inside everything there as far as how it's decorated, stands out in a really good way. There's a pool and Jacuzzi that we're both at great temperatures that we're comfortable to get into. I know some pools in Palm Springs aren't heated because of the heat in the summer but that was not the case here. I checked in I was in and out of there within a few minutes I was walked to my room and told a few things about the property And immediately started to check the place out. I have to say that the shower was by far my favorite thing about the entire trip and that may sound weird until you take a shower in the showers that they have here. The bed was comfortable. They have snacks, waters, and sodas that are in the room that are free which is almost unheard of anymore. we were there over the weekend and it was very quiet even though I believe it was close to being full as far as how many people are staying there that weekend. The only negative that I have and the only reason why I would deduct a half a star is while I understand the idea behind the carpet that they have in the rooms it's super uncomfortable unless you've got callused feet. I asked about the carpet and was told that all of the carpet was made from products that came from the earth as well as made by indigenous people so the idea is that it's Eco friendly and it's built to last. The problem is is that you need slippers or something, we ended up laying down towels. In my opinion, they would've been better off going with a flat concrete with a sealant over that but either way everything else was as good as you can get especially for the price point. There's other hotels that are renting out rooms in Palm Springs that I was looking at that were not even close to this level that were close in cost. I will definitely be back and I will stay here again. Highly recommended on my end to anybody that's about to book a room in Palm Springs. read more

Mahala is a tiny boutique hotel, so that's why there's so few reviews, but it's a fun (affordable) place to stay. It's a little odd looking from the outside, but you get into the main courtyard area and it's a nice vibe. Our room had an issue with the AC (it's Palm Spring so AC is very necessary), but we were immediately moved to another room, ultimately bigger at no charge. The manager here did right by us. Pool and hot tub were nice and available late. Anniversary goodies were in our room as well, so they go the extra mile. read more

This is by far the best hotel my husband and I have ever stayed at. Chad at the front was amazing and Teresa and Reina from house keeping were so friendly and great as well. I recommend this place to everyone. . the esthetics was super cool. The pool and Jacuzzi and lounge areas were all so clean and nice. There's cool art everywhere as well.
