I haven't eaten here in several months. But last time we ate there we said we would not go back. Everything was over cooked. The deep fried food tasted as though the oil had not been changed in months. The fries tasted as though they were cooked with onion rings. Part of our meals were less warm than others. We were the only customers yet we received little attention for drink refills or to ask how we were enjoying our meal. Worst breakfast in history of my 65 years. After waiting on food ( simple eggs , biscuit, ham, bacon, pancake ) over 1 hr , got up to leave and pay for coffee, waitress waves down says order is coming out , talked into staying , sat back down, 5 min later she brings out food with burnt biscuit broke into two pieces , cold gravy, 2 eggs (ordered 3) , said she still owed me bacon ( that never came out) watered down cold grits . Pancake was ok. Complained about whole experience , still charged me 19.00 for my trouble. Goodbye Big Daddy, pretty DAM awful. Forgot to mention during our 1+ wait we got to watching efficiency of kitchen staff and witnessed one of staff opening a new packet of pancake mix with her teeth!!!! Don't be fooled by appearances, their food is good and so is the service. We enjoyed the chips/queso based an app- the chips were warm and fresh and the queso was warm and creamy. I do wish there had been a few more chips. The burgers were cooked to order, very fresh and the fries were cooked perfectly. Offering bbq/burgers the place was clean and staff was friendly. Took our family of 6 for Sunday brunch. They were only offering a breakfast buffet. The food was very subpar. They offered to make hashbrowns and eggs to order. The waitress came out and scooped the hashbrowns onto everyone's plate and then stab the eggs and the plates. It was $15 plus gratuity since we had more than 6 people. We've eaten here before and the food was actually pretty good. It was a little disappointing this time and certainly not worth $15 plus a person. It makes me really sad because they're just aren't a lot of places to eat around Lake tenkiller!! read more

The food was fine, but it took 1 hour and 50 minutes after we ordered to get it. There were no explanations. They just went about acting like it was perfectly normal. The people behind us ordered chicken fried steak and after waiting an hour they were told there were out of chicken fried steaks. When we finally got our food it seemed like they were in a hurry for us to leave since it was past closing. Some people from the kitchen came out and were eating their dinner. When they're good, they're great and when they're not so good, well, they are not so great at all. Get them early in the day when things are fresh and it's one of the best meals you'll have in the area. If you go near closing time, you might just get the bottom of the pan. Greeted by friendly staff and provided great recommendations and service. Wife had the pulled pork with side salad and cajun potatoes. The pulled pork was tender but a little dry but overall good. Big Daddy's a nice Roadhouse /Dive Their menu is southern comfort food, burgers, BBQ and steaks. This is a good destination spot if you are a biker, sports car enthusiast or a boater /camper headed to the lake. There is an ample outdoor dining area here for when the Oklahoma temperatures allow you to use it. It is... as described "on the Side of the Dam Road." They serve beer and food, which makes it a roadhouse and the gravel parking lot for the 4X4 pickups qualify it as a dive! The inside it neatly decorated with a country, lakeside, and sportsman theme. We went for the comfort food: fried catfish and a chicken fried steak. Both meals start with a trip to their salad bar, so let's start there. For our meals this was the only two critical flaws. One, the mixed iceberg salad on the bar was just starting to show signs of turning brown. (All the other items on the salad bar were fine.) And two, you can only access one side of the salad bar. Unless you have very long arms (I do, but it was still a stretch) it is difficult to reach the salad items on the far side of the bar. Challenge on... I wasn't going to pass on the pickled okra even if I had to crawl in to get it! The catfish was fantastic! It was served with crisp fries and perfect hush-puppies. The coating on the catfish was excellent. Not over seasoned and fried to the perfect golden brown. The fish tasted clean and fresh. It didn't have that funky farm raised processed catfish taste. It is hard to see in the picture, but this was a good serving of fish. I think we could have split the meal and it would have been enough for both of us. For me it was the chicken fried steak and French fries. The chicken fried steak was a nice sized tenderized steak, lightly breaded, and fried to the perfect crispness. When the ketchup is bad you know you are in trouble... The brisket was so dry the only redeeming factor was no fat and drenching it on barbecue sauce helped...a little. The okra and the Texas toothpicks were good. The chopped brisket was some of the worst barbecue I have ever had. Greasy and lots of fat. The bun was wet from the grease. Shrimp skewer was so tough you couldn't get it off the skewer. Skip Big Daddy's or you may want to jump off the dam. read more

We have been coming here for years and the food has always been wonderful. Yesterday , May 2nd 2020, we stopped there while we were in town to pick up our food to go. Once back to where we were staying we opened up our food and it was horrible. The onion rings were burnt ,the fries were horrible and some of our food was missing. We shall never eat there again. Sad how horrible this place was as for many of years this has been our favorite place to eat when in the area. read more

Had an app of garlic Parmesan fries and they were okay. Garlic seasoning on some fries with some powdered Parmesan on top. I had gotten the chicken strip dinner for $11 but was very disappointed in the size of the chicken tenders. They were so small they would be only enough for a kid to eat. This place is a hidden gem! The service was the best I have seen in ANY restaurant in a very long time. The food... it was hot, fresh and so good! We had a group of 8 on a bike riding trip. They never blinked and treated us like family. You just don't get this type of great service anymore. I had the catfish and my friends had bbq. We all ordered appetizers. Simply the best place to eat on Tenkiller lake, right at the dam opposite Tenkiller State Park. Putting it simply - just awesome meats and home cooked sides, their ribs keep locals and lake visitors sustained Spring Summer and Fall. Our last visit was Sunday after early church. The buffet featured whole smoked beef tenderloin perfectly medium rare and sliced to order into medallions. Visualize if you will 1/2" thick filet mignon medallions you can cut with a fork! We never needed a knife. Joe knows meats and Big Daddy's shows it! The buffet included salad bar, beans, Mac & cheese, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes & gravy and great yeast rolls. Top that with homemade bread pudding, warm peach cobbler and banana pudding it's a little slice of heaven! We've had terrific burgers, steaks and of course chicken fried steak. The owners stepped away last year but they had to take it back when the food and the wonderful family oriented warmth declined. Well, they're back and Big Daddy's needs to be #1 on the Gotta Eat There list. We recently had dinner at Big Daddy's. The chicken fried steak was very good how ever the chopped bbq beef sandwich was not good. The beef was cold and was fatty and gristly. The lettuce at the salad bar was yellow with brown edges. To be fair, we'll eat there again. Hopefully they were just having an off night. Relatively new Owners, everything was pretty good until the COVID 19 hit. Had their Big Daddy burger in June. I know hamburger meat is expensive, but this place took rationing hamburger too far. The meat on a McDonald's regular Cheeseburger is twice as big as what I received on my Big Daddy burger. It was a big Bun..as usual...with an almost non-existent Hamburger patty on it. I know a Restaurant in the same area of Vian that added a 15% surcharge to the posted food price on their menus (to be taken off when food prices lower). The notice is right at the front door before you enter. Big Daddy's needs to try something like this (but, It would then cost about $15) for a Big Daddy burger there. Too bad. The original Big Daddy and Big Mama always seemed to make this place work no matter what. These owners ...no so much. read more

We were able to eat on the patio in early May, due to their meticulous adherence to social distancing and safety. You won't be disappointed! It's so close to the lake, right off the Dam Highway. This is the worst bbq I've ever had. Everyone else there was ordering steak and now I get it. Dry, hard brisket had a smoke ring but literally tasted like a piece of rubber. How can meat TASTE like rubber in the real world? Dunno but Big Daddy's nailed it. The pulled pork was rewarmed, cut into cubes instead of pulled and was hard. Not sure it it was real pork butt, but definitely not pulled, soft moist or even made that day. Frozen fries. Mash potatoes tasted like they were from a box. Soggy, wet cafeteria corn on the cob and what seemed to be store bought, precooked hot links that were halved and pan seared. This is bad bbq. read more
