(Raita is an Indian Pakistan sauce that you get free in almost all if not all restaurants around the world ( yes, world).. we ordered "malai boti" (creamy chicken nuggets with Indian spices). Just finished our first experience at this restaurant and it was great! The interior was clean and very well maintained. The staff was attentive and helpful in explaining the menu and was happy to answer questions about the menu. My wife ordered the vegetarian Kofta, which was excellent. I had the chicken hunzai handi. Very flavorful and good portions on both dishes. My wife got one of their signature drinks, a soda-based mint and lemon concoction that was so refreshing....worth the price of admission! We then decided on dessert, thankfully we did, both desserts we got were delicious! The chasham-e-shireen was like a very fancy ice cream dessert, and the other, Rabdi, was a complex sweet cream treat that was unique to my wife and I, definitely one we will be ordering the next time we return. Went to have dinner with family for the first time. We were very impressed from when we walked and only until the food arrived. Food tasted good but was cold. Never saw the server again after serving the food. Could not order drinks, refills or more bread. We were considering desert but since no one came back to check on us, we decided not to have desert. My daughter had to find some one to bring our check. We got the bill quickly but no one came back to collect the payment. Been to the restaurant twice this month at lunch time. Disappointed both the times, the servers are unable to manage guests. 1st visit - We had to request and remind the server to get us our plates, water, raita for the biryani, etc. The attitude of the server was something which put us off completely. 2nd visit - We walked into the restaurant and were waiting to be seated. A server just passed us by without even greeting us. The other server came forward, she spoke to us for a brief minute before another customer walked in. She asked us to wait as she wanted to deal with this guest first. When we asked her if we could go and sit she blatantly said that they have not a lot of servers who could take care of us and she went back to talking to the customer who came after us. This time we chose to walk out. Servers, I understand you have to manage your studies and your job, that doesnt mean you treat the customers as though you're being forced to work. Really Delicious grilled kababs await. While Indian & Pakistani food are similar, don't get it fooled, Pakistan has its own cuisine that is very vibrant. I would recommend getting Pakistani special dishes here, I particularly liked the Reshmi kebab, and Malai Chicken Boti. NO HUNNAY. I've been to the Houston location a couple of times and it was great so I thought we'd give the one here in Dallas a try while we were visiting. The restaurant is very clean and tidy so I'll give them that. As for the service and the food...let me tell you. The service was incredibly slow and they were definitely understaffed that day. We were seven people and our server only poured water into three glasses. No one came to our table to ask if we needed anything so we had to somehow get the attention of the employees whenever they passed by. We ordered lahori fish, chicken tikka handi, mutton karahi, reshmi kababs and bihari kababs. The fish was really great as well as the chicken tikka handi. Everything else was terrible. Just terrible. The mutton karahi looked unappetizing and also tasted very bad. I don't know why but the color of the curry and meat was gray - we told someone to just take it away. No one was touching it. Kababs lacked flavor. Very sad. Last but not least, I ordered my favorite dessert. I'm the only person who got dessert because I think everyone else was so disappointed that they gave up. But not me. I had a tiny ray of hope in my heart for sweet and cool kulfi with a warm gulab jamun and nuts to top it off. And guess what.........it was heartbreaking. Y'all couldn't even do dessert right?! The kulfi was basically melted and the gulab jamun was very, very cold - its supposed to be WARM. It even says that on the menu. Went today to the overly hyped up Mai Kolachi in Plano this afternoon for their weekend buffet. I have to say-- you can invest all you want into "ambience" and coordinating outfits for your servers-- but if the food isn't on point and you don't treat all your customers equally, it's a total waste of time and money. On top of that, the low quality food being offered is at a ridiculous price. Higher then almost all other restaurants in the area (both desi and non desi). Let's start off with the buffet. A selection of standard brunch offerings along with some curries and rice. Not one mutton/goat or lamb dish? Not even one grilled item? For the price being charged, I would expect at least one-- if not both, of these items to be on the menu. Furthermore-- many items were chicken-- another cost cutting measure. The naan was so hard and super dense. Nothing like the light and fluffy naan that one envisions. Puri and paratha was brought to our table after requesting the servers almost 4 times. Again, a disappointing-- cold and dripping in grease (more then what's normal). Furthermore, every single item was completely tasteless and bland. To top it off, the dessert wasn't even sweet? I think the chef might have forgotten to add in sugar to the knock off "lab-e-shireen". The chai was overly and extremely bitter-- so disgusting. Aside from all of this, we asked when we were seated if we could order from the menu instead of doing the buffet. We were told that only the buffet was being offered at the time and we could not order off the menu. A few moments later, I noticed the table behind us getting served separate dishes from the back which were not on the buffet menu. This is absolutely unprofessional in my book and so rude. All in all-- we surely won't be coming back to this place. Unprofessional management, terrible food and highly overpriced. Mai Colachi - Bye Colachi! They were one of the best indo-pak restaurants that consistently served high quality Karachi and Lahori style Pakistani food when they opened. We were crazy about this place and couldn't get enough. They miraculously got even better during Covid. When everyone was struggling and unfortunately many had to shut down due to extreme labor shortages, Mai Colachi came through every single time we ordered take-outs. Everything was always fresh, orders were always accurate and cooking was exceptionally mouthwatering and preparation was top notch. I remember ordering 3-4 times a week for few months. Chole Daal, Karahi Chiken, Beed Bhuna, Marahi Gosht and Malai Kofta was our all-time favorites. Now, fast forward to 2022 - I don't know what happened but they went completely downhill over the last 3-4 months. While every restaurants are elevating operations and increasing revenue and doing their best to take care of customers, Mai Colachi seems to be making extra efforts to make sure the opposite experience. Food is super inconsistent, orders or more wrong than not either you take out or eat in. All they do is say sorry and then bring the correct item while other items get cold. I gave them time to work on the issues and put enough trust on them to no avail. Last time I ordered take-out and when picking up the food, I luckily double checked my items and found that 4 naans were missing with only gravy items and salad in the order package. If I hadn't checked I would have to eat all of the items without any naans. Totally unacceptable. They did give my naans after raising the issue, but took around 30 min and of course food was already cold by the time we got home. Recently we made a reservation for an evening buffet for around 10 people about 1 and half week in advance. They confirmed the reservation and we called 2-3 times with the correct date and time in between just to make sure the reservation was still confirmed and they assured that it was, and we have nothing to worry about, and as we showed up (20 minutes ahead of our actual reservation so that we can wait a bit if needed) - and as we walked in they tell us they cannot find any reservation for us and that they will not be able seat us unless a large party leaves - which was not going to happen as others were waiting in line as well. This is beyond unprofessional and completely unacceptable. This review is not for the restaurant manager to post a "we are sorry comment" I honestly think they will never return to the quality they maintained during covid both food and customer service wise. Hope this review help others making a decision on where to eat on that one evening they are feeling like enjoying quality indo-pak food. Unfortunately we don't have that many indo-park restaurants to go to and I honestly thought this was the one but that turned out to be a huge mistake and disappointment. read more

Just walked in and the place was nearly empty but very clean with a Five Star ambience. However, I was greeted very professionally at the door and seated. The waiter came up and he was very polite and realizing that I am not very familiar with the cuisine he voluntarily assisted me by explaining the menu choices and gave his recommendations. Can't wait to try the food. So, I ordered tea for my drink since I was still working and when he brought it to me I was very impressed by the presentation. A very elegant glass once again Five Star like. The tea is good. A tad bit too sweet for me but once the ice melts its perfect. The food comes and the presentation remains consistent and stays on a high level. So, I tasted the food and OH MY WORD!!! DELICIOUS! Much better than buds were ready for. They brought me a plate to dish the food but I pushed it aside and ate straight from the trough like bowl. I waited months for this Houston Resturant to finally open in my neighborhood. So I went today with 20 friends for Iftari. We all were disappointed . The buffet was cold , everything was extremely spicy and the food quality was poor. The place was crammed as if they wanted to fit as many people as possible and the food was in corner making it very hard to access. The pakora's were rubbery / chewy , the barbecue was dry . Not worth $25.00. The deserts were bad as well. Maybe because they just opened two weeks and don't have all there Ducks in a row . I am hoping that they do improve soon. read more

We were looking forward to dining here with the family as we had visited the Houston location and absolutely loved it. Upon arriving, there was no one at the podium to seat us for a good 10-15 min. There was no greeting when the person did arrive. I told the person that we had reservations (for the buffet) and she seated us to the closest table available. My kids went with my husband to get in line for the buffet, and a server placed a plate in the middle of the table which he said was for the puris. Well, after my kids came back, I went to get brunch, and came back, no puris, no biggie. Asked someone else when I was half way, again none. Then, when my kids were almost done eating, I informed the waiter for the 3rd time that we never got any puris. They brought them over afterwards, which kinda defeats the purpose of having them fresh AFTER your meal? The shikanjabeen was amazing like Houston, the food, not so much. The nuanced flavors at the Houston branch is not present here at all. Found and bit through a whole ilachi in the kheer. Chai was good. We asked for the bill and the server asked 2 other servers to discuss the ages of my kids. Then a second server came to tell us that the cut off for the kids buffet was 12; like what did you think we were lying about their ages? The kids said what their ages were, and they redid the bill. Service a big thing if you want your customer to have a fine dining experience. If the servers are not smiling, not engaging, they feel like they are doing you a favor for being there, then I can take my family to the Cheesecake Factory or elsewhere to have an amazing experience. This was a total fail. I will probably still visit the Houston location but won't ever go back here for buffet/and or to dine again. read more

Usually for Pakistani/Indian restaurants, you have to sacrifice ambiance and cleanliness for good, authentic food. This place you get it all! This is a high end place with delicious food from the motherland. Can't get any better than that! I had the malai boti, chicken kharai and tropical chicken. Honored to be invited at the friends and family event at Colachi. As expected, we were greeted with warmth and a bunch of smiles from their caring owner and staff. The owner and manager will go the extra mile to take care of you. The ambiance and atmosphere was nothing short of exquisite, an unfamiliar experience that is not present at other Pakistani food joints. The buffet menu was colorful and full of surprises. It consisted of Lahori fish, chicken malai boti, tropical chicken, chikar channay, reshmi gosht, mutton pulao, Peshawari karhai and gulab jamun all of this was complimented by a variety of paired condiments. For beverages, they served shikanjabeen, soda, water and tea. Every dish was full of deep Pakistani flavors - rich, spicy and well garnished. My family and friends have long been wanting something that's a classy sit down desi restaurant and this restaurant granted our wishes for us. It's a halal traditional Pakistani restaurant that includes an alcohol free bar. The atmosphere was very nice with all the mirrors making the restaurant seem very open. The food was really good because it was a good blend of flavors mixed together. I'm only giving this review four stars because of the mints as you leave the restaurant. Hi !!! I just went out for lunch @mai kolachi restaurant plano with my American colleague who has never eaten Indian and Pakistani food. We just loved the food out there!!!! The ambiance is good and beautiful with nice cultural music. We ordered an appetizer, Soup, Grill, Curry, Rice and Dessert. Almost everything and all turn out so delicious and properly dish out. Strongly recommend to go and try that place also with non asian colleague. I think one of the best Desi(Pakistani) Restaurant in Dallas. Each and every item in their menu is amazing. Tried their Shinwari Mutton Kadai, Mutton Kabuli Pulao. Both of them were excellent. I have tried Shinwari Mutton Kadai other places in DFW metroplex but not as good as here. And the price is not bad for proper sit down restaurant. I'm very happy with their customer service too.
