Came on a Saturday mid day, warm welcome, they took our coats and guided us downstairs to the spa area. You walk in to a full service hair salon. The downstairs is focused on the spa only. They have resting areas, play relaxing music, and the entire staff was pleasant to interact with. Only minus was you could still hear the music and talking from upstairs when you walked by the staircase. I got the chocolate covered strawberry facial with Jayde. She was great, she answered my questions during the experience. During the mask portion, she offered a scalp massage or hand and arm massage. I went with the hand and arm massage which she did excellent with. This calming, cleansing, uplifting facial was followed by my full body massage with Lea. Lea is a gem! She wished me happy birthday a few times and gave me so much good knowledge about my body, my high tension areas and tips on how to relax them at the end of a day. Each service was about 1 hour. I was pleased to see a salon offering reasonably priced services as well as many special deals. One of the best parts of this experience is the atmosphere. On the outside, the salon resembles a quaint house and it is adorned with many flowers. When I walked in, I encountered a modern, elegant ambiance as conveyed by the chandeliers and glossy, marble front desk. I've come in for a haircut and two blowouts, which were decent. I appreciate how my hair fell in a bouncy, curly manner. I only wished they would have put a more effective product in before blowing out my hair since it eventually became untamed due to the summer's relentless humidity. While the front desk associates were very friendly, my stylist was slightly cold. I had the worst experience of my life at this salon. With a manager who refuses to refund me and my hair is chopped up. I would never recommend this salon. Starting off I went to get my hair trimmed and a blowout. I went in Just asking for my face framing pieces to be more angled. I have attached a picture of what I had received. Absolutely horrific haircut and now a month later and am trying to get extensions to get my hair fixed. My hair is absolutely chopped and had went to another salon to get it fixed, she was completely appalled by the haircut and can't believe I had even payed. I also went to get my makeup done for a rehearsal dinner in hopes of having the makeup being simple and showing a picture prior the makeup artist was clearly not experienced and made me look if I had two black eyes. They also never offered to curl my lashes or put on mascara. I asked for false lashes and while they were looking for the bottle of glue I had heard the girl state I am not sure if this is nail glue or eyelash glue. Update: I thought they deserve an update on my previous review after I had a great full day spa experience at MAIA. Except for the lady who did my hair everyone else seemed to know what service they were providing me. Nicole was as always very welcoming and she knew I was spending the entire day at the salon (well from 11-4pm). The lady at the reception checked on me and had a great experience with each one of them who I met that day. I think the spa package I received was the "spa retreat" it was a great experience. Lunch was also provided. The package included a facial, a massage, blowout, manicure and pedicure. I must mention the nail tech who did my nails was great! She was very friendly and did a great job!! Her name was Jaqline. She was easy on my nails, got me the perfect nail color. I didn't want color at first but she suggested a color that was nude and natural just the one I wanted. Nicole did my facial and makeup refresher - Nicole is very courteous and a friendly person. Had a great massage from Joyce as well. It was a little bit of a hassle at first when I tried to schedule the appointment. Once I called to ask them about a service that was on their website have posted on their website but whoever answered the phone had no clue they offered the service. I happened to meet the owner of Maia who finally scheduled the appointment and I had the chance to chat with her. She was a lovely lady. Just a horrible experience. Went hem there for an eyebrow wax, my regular Tatiana called in sick, so they gave me another girl ( don't remember her name) I should have cancelled. She literally made one eyebrow much thinner then the other and tried convince me it looks even. 3 weeks later, another appointment with my original girl Tatiana. Day of appointment, I get a call Tatiana is not in, but they have another girl. I explain what happened last time and they assured me they will not give me the same women. Unfortunately I did not have the best experience at this salon. I got a balayage done here 1.5 years ago by Floridalma which was beautiful and natural, I really loved it. Now in October 2021, I decided to come back to Maia Salon and get a balayage by Afia. I showed her a picture (picture #1) and explained how I wanted an ashy brown balayage. I felt uneasy throughout the entire process as it was much different than my first experience, but I decided to trust her. I left that day with various shades of blonde in my hair and a VERY warm and golden undertone. I knew this was not what I wanted or asked for but I let Afia finish and blow it out to see the final product. (picture#2) I voiced my concerns to the front desk as well and they told me to come back for another toning, so I did. Grace was my stylist and I explained to her again what I wanted. I heard Afia then tell her that I wanted to be a darker blonde, so I again told Grace that I never wanted to be blonde and would like to be a darker brown at the minimum if they cannot achieve ashy. Grace achieved a look that I liked, but still not what I wanted. (picture #3) Unfortunately, after the first wash, I was back to various shades of blonde and it got worse with every wash. (picture #4) I went for another toning a few weeks later, and I walked out with basically jet black hair. I told Grace that I would like to be just about a shade darker than what she gave me last time, as I felt this would be close to ashy brown. I truly felt it was clear that I wanted brown, not black (picture #5 & 6) I truly appreciate the efforts to fix my hair and get it to what I want, but clearly the damage had been done. I would like to add that I did not have to pay for the additional toning services, I only had to pay for a blowout this last time that I went. However, I spent $300 for a balayage which is non-existent at this point and I now have jet black hair. I really tried to stay optimistic the entire time but unfortunately this was a traumatic experience for me. read more

So, I get a lot of pedicures. And this was by far the most... I don't know quite how to describe it... interesting one I have ever gotten. My appointment was for 4:45. I arrived 5 minutes early. After I checked in, I walked over to the technician doing my services as she was filling up the bowl with water if I was going to be with her and she abruptly responded, "Yea, but I'll get you when I'm ready." So I sat down in the sitting area and waited. At 4:49, another employee asked said technician if she wanted her to remove the gel polish on my toes. She curtly responded yes and something about how she was running late because she had to finish a French manicure. Another employee brought me to the pedicure chairs around 4:55 and began to remove my gel polish. She then stopped midway through because she had another customer. My technician then came over and offered me the list of colors to look at. So I killed another 15 minutes doing that while watching their large tv. My technician did not begin my pedicure until 5:15. I don't mind waiting. I get it. It's Friday. You guys are busy. But the thing that bothered me was that she did not apologize for my wait or try to make up for it at all with a beverage or a magazine or anything. Saga continues. Said pedicure begins. I am not allowed to soak my feet until after my gel polish has been put on for some reason about mold. This is a first. I also have a high pain tolerance. But I was blown away by how rough my toes were handled. I did not say anything about this at the time, I should have. I think it hurt so badly because I had not been able to soak, so everything was done when my feet were dry. Eek. Midway through my pedicure, we begin to dialogue about our lives, and I start to feel a bit better about my technician. Overall, please know, she is a nice woman, and I am not going to state her name here so as to not get her in trouble. The people here are extremely nice. They are all very skilled. I came in here a few months ago with a botched up hair color job from another stylist at a different salon. My stylist Melissa did a fantastic job not only correcting the color, but getting the shade to my desired shade. She took her time and clarified what I wanted exactly. The best part is that my hair wasn't damaged or dried out in the least from the color correcting process. The color also lasted a few months before I needed to go back in for a touch up. Wost salon on long island, a beauty school would be a better place to get your hair done. Came in for blonde highlights and the stylist did not allow my hair to process long enough for the color to lift. She then put a toner on with glaze so that any blonde that was bleach was turned brown. So then another stylist used a clarifying shampoo that did not lighten my hair, and she put in low lights to break the mono tone non highlight look I got which made my hair look worse. Went here for a facial I got on Groupon. Overall, the facial was average. I don't like when the aestheticians try to push product on you when you leave. In addition, I was told that all the products used are organic. Meanwhile, I looked at the products they used afterwards and they had a St Ives exfoliant out! I went to this Salon in Nov 2020 for a Keratin Treatment. I had Roy who did a winderful job and it lasted 6 months!! I went back July 1 for another treatment, was told Roy left and another person did my keratin treatment. Well, it has been two weeks and the treatment is not working. My hair is frizzy!! The girl burned my head with the blow dryer and my scalp peeled. I come to also find out that the product and process was different than the Nov 2020 treatment. She used a product that will only last 1-3 months and I was never informed of this. Also she was done with it within 1 hour and the last time it took over two hours. I questioned this and was told that there are different ways to do it. I am very disappointed. I called the salon and was told by Christine that they will do a conditioner in my hair if I go back. She also said that the salon gets great reviews. In reading these here, I see many disappointed people like myself!! I am afraid they might screw me up even more If I go back. Terrible isn't even a good enough word for this experience. Went in for a balayage and a cut and left with unfinished hair. Provided details and photo of Specifically what I was looking for, and asked the stylist if it was possible on my hair before they even started. I was told yes and it wouldn't be a problem. This gentleman proceeded to do whatever he thought it was a balayage and apply color to the wrong place on my red with the intention of making my entire head red. As soon as I noticed I asked him to correct it which was met by attitude and a aggressive head washing. Then it seems as though they do not have any of the colors they're intending to use and I asked for them to stop wash out what was in my hair so that I could leave because I wasn't confident in their abilities to which I was argued with and then forced to pay the full amount for service is not completed. Incredibly unhappy with experience will share that with everyone I ever meet can't get anyone on the phone to speak with me and this is not a BBB accredited Business... I wonder why!! Had a laughable experience at MAIA. I had an appt. for a 50-minute Swedish massage - yet in reality I got 40 minutes of boyfriend drama and a weak rubdown. I feel bad writing this because the masseuse was sweet, but she literally talked the entire time. I left feeling completely and utterly drained and ripped off. Not only did I receive an ear full of her personal life, the massage was done with minimal pressure and was cut 10 minutes short. I'm not sure if all the staff works like this, but I'm disappointed and would not feel comfortable recommending the place to anyone. read more
