Mai Do is a specialty store inside the Costa Mesa Mitsuwa. This cute little store has so many fun things!! I love just coming here and seeing all of the goodies. The prices are pretty fair, with specialty items from Japan literally all over the store. There is so much to look at! I recently came to get a new journal, and I was thoroughly surprised by the selection. The service is super nice, as they always help out and package everything nicely. Overall, Mai Do is a great option for cute and fun Japanese things!

I am a kid in a candy store whenever I visit Mai Do in Costa Mesa!! It's like JetPens IRL... iykyk. As a pen aficionado, this cozy little shop inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace feeds my addiction for the best pens (IMO) and checkmarks many of my favorite things: * A plethora of pens, pencils, and cases * A variety of colorful stationery, stickers, cards, notepads * Cute plushies * Made in Japan The lady who works here is so sweet too. While I've only purchased pens, a pen case, and stickers here, I've found that the quality is superior compared to similar products. Thus, I've found the value of their items to be excellent! Overall, if you like quality pens like I do, you'll enjoy the products they have at MaiDo.

This is such a cute shop and perfect for those looking to buy gifts based off of anime and Japanese pop culture. The store is small but full of many items. The pricing is a little high but they're imported goods from Japan. The employees are nice and will help you with any questions you have. It's neat because this store is inside Mitsuwa! So there are many other things to go check out.

best selection of stationary and plushies! So many miffy, jellycat, and more! A pit pricy but worth it since a lot of stuff is imported I believe. I've gotten my favorite jellycats from here!

Shopping in Costa Mesa, California... My friends said that we're going to Mitsuwa Marketplace... with the free parking! Okay... I'm just a passenger... I'll go anywhere you recommend... They brought me to this crowded, cozy shop called Maido... there were so many items from Japan like Sanrio merchandise. I also saw Miffy (the white bunny) notebooks and pouches. (Note to self: We do have a Miffy store in Waikiki... I should check if these items are there.) The plushies were so cute... And the stationary... And the ceramic bowls... And the keychains... And useful pens!!! I keep telling myself: I don't need it... I don't need it... I don't need it... Uhg... kawaii stuff... just looking at them makes me happy! We'll be back!

After the Mitsuwa recently got remodeled, I really missed the stores that were inside the mitsuwa marketplace. So after doing some shopping at mitsuwa, I wondered around until I stumbled across the Mai Do! The Mai Do is such an awesome place for notebooks, journals, pens, notebook/journaling accessories and cards! It is a must go to place for anyone who loves stationery. The store itself isn't that big at all, but the amount of wonderful merchandise they have in this store is beyond amazing. They have like half a wall of notebooks that are compatible with the travelers notebooks and another 1/4 of their wall has a whole bunch of different kinds of pens and pencils to pick from. I wasn't able to spend as much time as i wanted to in the store, so I will have to come back to make a purchase. I was so distracted by all the notebooks in the store, and I couldn't decide which ones to buy, so I didn't get any that day. Now that I have a good idea of what their inventory is like, I shouldn't have a hard time returning and making a purchase here. I'm so happy this little notebooks/stationary shop Is here inside of mitsuwa! I can't wait to come back, walk around some more, and buy myself a planner for next year!

I remember seeing a sign that they were going to stop having points with 5 star, but I do not recall the final date to use points and whatnot. Does anyone know?

Do they sell Hobonichi planner, cousin, covers, etc?

I have seen other planners but never Hobonichis at this place. I think I asked a long time ago and they said no. Best bet is jetpens.com

This place seems to be a hidden goldmine for Stationary enthusiasts. Why is no phone number posted or hours of operation?... :-(

According to Google their number is 714 - 662 - 2319. That doesn't work, I would call the Mitsuwa Marketplace direct line. From the past few times I've been there, I've seen their hours as 11am to 8pm.

Anyone know their hours on Thursdays/Fridays?

Their hours are 11am to 8PM every day

Most of the items are from Japan and they have stuff I had not seen before. They had a little Toto lighter which I loved as I have a Toto at home (it is a toilet, made in Japan and has a washlet.) They also have stickers and tee shirts and hats, they have lots of hats. I bought one for my son in law. The prices are fair for the area. We really did love the service. It is not a place I would go to often, but it is adorable and worth a visit. We had a great time there, just looking at all the stuff. It was not at all busy when we were there and check out was super easy. So, if you are nearby stop there. It is not a must see, but it is cute.

Love the store but service 0/5…read more My friend and I had stopped by this shop after taking pictures at Booth by Bryant to take a look around. This shop is very nicely organized and aesthetic, however, the lady at the cash register who might be the owner did not greet us or anything, and seemed very bothered by us just walking in. There are some colorful crates in the back part of the store that my friend wanted to take pictures with, so I asked the cashier first if it would be okay to do so, since I had noticed that she already looked upset, and she said "yes and thank you for asking first since some people don't even ask" and I had also purchased a $40 hat prior to asking. I take a few pictures of my friend and as we're looking at them some customers walk in and are taking a look around and we scooted to the corner so they can shop. As soon as they left the cashier comes up to us with so much attitude saying "you guys need to get out when customers come in, if you guys are doing this they can't shop." when we literally were no where in the way of the customers. The last thing my friend and I wanted was to make her upset, which is why we asked permission first and purchased an item so we could stay longer in the store. But, the lack of customer service and passive aggressive tone was what makes us not want to shop here anymore. A simple "if customers come in I would appreciate if you guys step aside for them to shop" (which we did either way) in the beginning when I first asked for permission would've been nice instead of telling us to "get out" after I had already purchased something.
