So I've looked at other reviews and see that many people have had positive experiences. I cannot say that is the case with me, unfortunately. I went in to get my fingerprints taken for a work background check. The woman working there was extremely rude and unhelpful. I didn't have the paper I needed and she all but scolded me. When I returned with the paperwork, we did the thing, and I'm not even sure she did it right because the form that she insisted on wasn't even scanned or used with the DOJ so, if I get a report at all at this point, it's going to go to a former address because she scanned my ID... which she was also very rude and condescending in explaining. It seems Layla L had a similar experience in 2022 and I feel like I made the same mistake at this place today. I am ONLY giving this a 2 star because everyone speaks so highly of the owner and I don't want to drag them too much. But, honestly, this woman should not be working in ANY customer-facing job ever. read more

Do not come here for fingerprinting. I needed ink fingerprints for a national background check and had a hard time finding a place. This place was empty from the time I walked in to the time I left. The women helping me was clearly annoyed she had to stop braiding her child's hair and help me. She made it very obvious she was not happy to help and she screwed up the finger printing 5 times before she just gave up and told me they were fine. They were not, because today- 3 weeks and $70 later (that's right I had to pay not only this place $35 but also the company that has now rejected my prints) I was notified that my prints weren't good quality and it needs to be redone. I'm super pissed because this has wasted so much time and money all because she didn't know how to collect fingerprints correctly. If you can't do a service DON'T OFFER IT! My experience at Mail Boxes Express has been fantastic. I've been a regular customer of Mir's ever since he bought the place over a decade ago. His professionalism, commitment to excellence and wonderful caring personality is second to none. An example of his caring personality: Mir will do his level best to figure out why my packages haven't arrived at their scheduled destination even if it means dialing up customer service at FedEx or UPS and giving me the update. Additionally, during the Covid pandemic, he and his staff have done everything possible to keep customers comfortable. Things like airing out the store, wearing masks, have limited number of people in the store at any time, readily available hand sanitizer are staples of their care and diligence. The person who answered was very friendly and told me I could come in and out in a few minutes to get instant passport photos. $14 and less than 10 minutes after I walked in I walked out with two new passport photos, just in time for my appointment at the passport agency. I love this place, more specifically I love Mir Ali, the manager. He takes his job so seriously and always treats you with respect. Feel as you may about his many pictures with President George W. Bush mounted behind the counter, Mir has a charm you can't help resist. The facility is spotless and you can tell they take pride in running an efficient clean business. I do not have family in the Shelter Island/Point Loma area for help in emergencies with timely business matters. I do not own a printer or have the knowledge to do any of the things Mailboxes Express - ME, can get down and with quick and friendly atmosphere too. The first day I walked into this business, Mailboxes Express (Rosecrans, San Diego, CA) and saw the entire quaint sized business crowded and a good size wait was ahead of me I thought. Nope! Turns out that most of the customers were locals and chatting but when I asked a question since it was my first time, more than one customer offered their assistance offering me several answers and boy were they genuine and "real" in their nature. Before I knew it I was at the counter and surprised that the man knew what I needed without answering a bunch of questions. Faxing, printing, passports and Live Scan too. I also see they offer Mailboxes obviously as well. Oh and a pretty good size area of office supplies, copy machines with work counters. My favorite so far is the beach decals, post cards and fashionable, really modern, greeting cards found in a few areas on spinning displays. Recently shipped a package to Germany through this business. It was a photo, printed on canvas, stretched on bars to look like a painting. The clerk and I even talked specifically about where the photo was from and how it was made. Apparently he described it on the customs form as a "painting," which made the price seem very undervalued. German customs impounded it because there was no proof of the photos value. Delivery was refused, and now the package is somewhere between Germany and the U.S. Very disappointing. read more

The women who helped me completely lied to me about the best and most cost effective way to mail my package and instead sold me what I'm sure was the largest commission for the business. The only good thing I can say about this place is the packaging was good and when I went to get my money back for the over priced shipping fees I was chargedand take my box to post office and mail myself, Mr. Ali didn't give a hard time. I can't begin to tell you how great these gentlemen are. I came in to make some flyers for my lost cat. Jason, the attendant helped to facilitate in designing the two pics for it even though he didn't need to. After I gave him a thumbs up for the job, it was time to pay what I thought was an excellent deal. My card was declined to my dismay. Again it declined. He says, "go ahead and post these up. We'll worry about that later". He sensed my defeat and sadness. I told them to hold on, let me go to the ATM to get cash. Sure enough there were transactions not authorized that a certain gym helped themselves to... L.A. fitness. Anyway, I reported back to Mr. Mir the proprietor and Jason, the technician telling them of my predicament. Again they were more concerned about my pet and my state of being than adhering to the immutable bylaws of business of money first. With their kind hearted gesture I was able to post many flyers and find my cat THAT NIGHT! I owe those men more than words can muster up. Thank you two so much. After a few minutes of looking on his computer, he said " with out the information on the box he could not help us!! Well we showed up with the box tops with his labels from one of the packages that arrived to there destination. He looked at us and said there is nothing he could do. I have been going to this establishment for two years now and I have never had to pay for them to put one strip of tape on my box to mail it. I have often been there many times to send packages and they have always been very nice to me. I recently went in to mail a package and after he had put tape on my box he informed me that it would be a $3 charge. I thought he was joking, but no in fact he was not. I have told him that I had been there multiple times and have never had this happen to me. I believe that $3 for one strip of tape is ridiculous especially because I have used their mail services for a while now. He could have at least told me of the charge before he started tapping my box. I will never use their services again. So just be warned it is $3 to tape up a package. read more

Awful awful awful. I very clearly let the assistant and owner know that i needed one package to go overnight and one 2 day delivery. He quoted me $100 for 2 small packages. Then when I balked he came out of the back with a few fex ex boxes and gave me a quote for $28 for 2 day and 65 for 1 day. I told him go ahead with 1 day and 1 overnight. These packages had fresh lei's for graduation ceremony. Of course he shipped them both 2 day and my nephew didn't receive his until day after. when I called he said I didn't say that and it was on tape. I requested to have him review tape as that is NOT WHAT I ASKED. He then said too bad and hung up phone. Do not ever use these people, slippery as a salamander. read more

I have come to Mail Boxes Express twice now. Both times I have shipped 2 boxes and both times only one package made it to its destination. The first set I sent was worth over $250.00. I was sending school clothes to my niece for her first week back at school. When her package didn't make it to her, We went to talk to the owner and he was extremely rude and said he couldn't help us unless we had the box that made it to its destination. I had my aunt send us the box her stuff came in. When we too the box to the owner, he said he could not longer help us. He dismissed us like we were little kids.
