Sandra has been great so far in helping me with a serious issue. I dropped off a package there for DHL a few days ago, but the tracking hasn't updated and DHL says they haven't received it. Sandra was great in looking around the store in case it was missed by the DHL person, but we couldn't find it. So the owner Tyler is looking at their security footage, so they can see if DHL picked it up or if something else happened to it. Always tremendously helpful, thorough, and professional service at this location. My family has trusted this location for years with things like passports, one-time delivery, and all manner of greeting cards and last minute office supplies. The great convenience of being able to return packages here has made my life easier a number of times. This location is an important part of our little Shelter Island community, and you will be greeted with a smile and given the best customer service here. There is a very fast and convenient computer you can use to quickly access your print jobs, and the staff here have assisted me with some high quality copies of archival materials. I spent a good part of my grad school afternoons here printing documents in a rush, and I always appreciate the sense of calm the staff here contribute when I am under work or school deadlines. If you need to make copies, do NOT come here. I needed one color copy. Instead of charging just 49 cents for a color print, they add on a $2 "office servicing fee". Strangely I didn't get charged this "fee" last time. UPDATE to respond: I brought in a USB file, they just needed to connect to it and hit print - it look a few seconds. Not worth a $2 fee. I live in the neighborhood and usually come here; you lost my business. read more

I walked in today with an elder lady to conduct basic mail drop off and pick up. A man at the counter was not wearing a mask and was coughed twice in the 1 minute I was there. I just left. I have 2 accounts with them and am now considering/planning to move over to UPS who has their act together with better space and precautions in place. Unhappy. read more

This place is super convenient which is why I keep coming back. It is hardly ever busy yet it always seems to take much longer than I anticipate (well, it depends on who is helping me...). I like that when I bring in an item they box it up for me and fill any open spaces in the box with packing peanuts. I don't like that they ask for a phone number for the recipient of the item, though. Nine times out of ten I am mailing a package for my boss so I have no idea who the recipients are; why would I have a phone number for them? And why would they need one? So weird. Another weird thing I noticed was when I sent my packages off for Xmas, they put their business address as the return address instead of mine on the label. I inquired about it (because that seemed odd to me) and they said that they did it so that they could help take care of any issues that come up if the package is returned. I say this is strange because they only did it for certain ones- not all of them. Why? Either way, the customer service here is typically good, unless, as I said earlier, you get a certain someone who is slower than a herd of turtles. A wonderful Postal Annex offering a vast array of services including fingerprinting, packing and shipping, and more, with excellent prompt and friendly customer service! Gary and Brian will take care of you! I've only come across Gary once to help me ship my gift to my mom and he was super helpful with that! I was having a hard time packing it myself at home so he helped me out with that and promised me no matter what it would get there in one piece with his packing! I told Gary I was just a bit concerned because I had previously shipped the same item (a coffee mug from my school, but shipped it through a different company) to my dad and it was broken when it arrived to him unfortunately. And sure thing it was all in once piece when she got it! Brian is usually there on other occasions and I came here to get my fingerprints done and it was quick and painless! Brian is super helpful and quick to help and get things done. I would give 5 stars but many many things are overpriced here. For example, packing (which is very easy to do, is EXTREMELY overpriced, sadly) and although Gary helped me out that one time, i'm sure he can't do it for me everytime, and it seems as if packing and shipping things might be cheaper elsewhere. I know that they are in a location where there is very wealthy people around, but I don't happen to be. I am a student- struggling to make ends meet, and going in debt to get an education. I wish they would lower their prices so locals like myself, who aren't loaded (financially) could afford to come here, because overall it is a great store! Student discount maybe? This has to be the best shipping store in town! I just went in there yesterday to send a package because the UPS store was too busy, and after the experience I had, I certainly will not be turning anywhere else in the future. Not only was I able to send an overnight package on a whim, but I was somehow able to get a livescan and notary done that I had been putting off with no appointment necessary. The staff here were all incredible and so accommodating as they all assisted me in different ways. I use this postal annex for everything logistics that I can. I have my mailbox service here as well and they are fantastic! I even get notifications when important items are delivered. The operating hours make it so convenient for personal and business matters. I shopped around multiple other comparable businesses and couldn't find a better price. Visited the area this past week. Walked in here on a whim to inquire on bottle shippers, to send some Cali goodness back to PA for me and my fellow craft beer loving friends. They had a perfect 6-bottle shipper on hand for a reasonable price ($10) and their hours on Sat. morning had me back there all packed up. They were super kind to tape things up nicely and get my info in a jiffy to allow me to be back on my way for our final day in the area. Friendly service all around. Now, I just need to wait for things to arrive, but the experience was a great one. Not inexpensive to ship 20lbs of beer back home ($56, which included $8 for 21+ signature requirement), but not a huge mark up by PostalAnnex. Highly recommend. read more

So I walk to the PostalAnnex+ and tried to stuff my "package" in the "slot". The friendly cashier said, oh no! that's way to big! Why don't you try the "backdoor". ... Okay, enough fictional innuendos. My conversations with the workers here is nothing like that. But they are very friendly and fun to talk to. The customer service here is exceptional. I went to mail a box and was about to Buy tape and owner told me it was included. He also reduced the size of my box since I had a lot of empty space to reduce price. I never asked him to do that. Pricing was very reasonable and a lot lower than other places. I lead a busy life and I do not always remember things...I had forgotten to send a Christmas present to my cousin in Arizona. I sure was cutting it close. I rushed to postal annex and the kind staff laid my worries to rest! They let me know my package would arrive in time. They worked some holiday magic my package did arrive in time for Christmas. The only reason I ever come here is to drop off Amazon packages, if you have to deal with the angry owner Tammy watch out! She is very snarky and unkind to customers. I was sending a package with one employee and she saw that I was sending it in a cheaper envelope and came and switched it for a more expensive one. When I asked her the reasoning for this she got pissed off and said it wouldn't be accepted by USPS, all while rolling her eyes at me. As soon as I stepped out of the place, I hear her going off about me inside to the employee and laugh at me for asking a simple question. If you want to get an earful and laughed at over an envelope this is your place. NEVER BEEN BACK AGAIN! Response to owner comment: The owner Tammy commented below that this is a false review, believe me it is not. The employee attending me was a young Latina, you overheard us and came over and barked out that it had to go in a different kind of package as I was sending a USB in an envelope! Let me remind everyone this is a shipping/packaging needs location. Three things: 1: Postal Annex got one of my packages I sent from their store back due to damage and didn't care to tell me. It was sitting there for a week. Broken. I had insurance on the item, but I got no money back. 2: This may be obvious, but when you go here they up charge all shipments. So I've dropped off a small object and asked for the least expensive way to ship it. They gave me several options, although the cost still seemed so high. I went through with it, to further check out the USPS website and see that it should have cost me 30% less than what I was charged. The USPS is right around the corner - go there and save yourself some money! 3: I dropped a pre-paid UPS package off at their location at 4pm. The UPS truck has always come by at 4:30pm. The package was very urgent and being shipped for 8am next day delivery. Come to find out - 8am the next morning, It is still sitting in San Diego!!! Why? Because the people at Postal Annex failed to tell me the UPS truck came early!!! For all pre-paid items, Postal Annex doesn't care about your item. Thanks Postal Annex for making life difficult. read more

First time using this store. I called ahead to make an appointment for a live scan like the website said but the guy said to just walk in. When I came all the people that could do a live scan were out on break. It was very unprofessional and made me late for a class. The poor lady there was very apologetic since she was left running the shop and wasn't trained how to do it yet. read more

This place is prejudiced against military personnel. I was informed my retired military ID was not valid. I suggest going elsewhere. I've now talked to to two other Notaries Public and both tell me military ID is perfectly valid for notary services. Not to mention I've used my military ID in the past elsewhere and no one questioned it. read more

These guys are awesome. It is under new ownership by a local, and they are always friendly and out to save you money on your shipping. Yesterday on Columbus Day, the USPS was closed, but I went in and Tyler got my outgoing mail stapmped and handled for me. I use them to ship all over. Cramped parking lot but a great alternative to the Santa Monica post office, especially during busy hours! Plus they have a lot more mailing options like UPS and FedEx! I like coming to Postal Annex because I don't always have a reason to come down to Shelter Island (aside from Pacific Coast Chinese next door, of course). Line is always super short -- especially compared to our US Post Offices -- and they will even pack small packages for you at a small, very reasonable cost. I come here for everything, whether it's buying stamps or mailing eBay goods. Whenever I've asked for anything, they really haven't said they couldn't do it yet. Staff is a mixed bag, sometimes you get animated employees who are very friendly, sometimes you get folks who seem like they really, really hate everything about lives, but hey -- if they can deliver envelopes and packages on time, that's all I need. 4 stamps... er stars. read more
