I have been eating Mailhot's pork pie since I was a little girl (and I won't tell you how old I am now. Your pies were always soooo goood. The pies were always filled with nicely seasoned pork, enough filling to give every member of a family of five a really nice serving for dinner. Now, sadly, not so much. The crust was almost flattened to the bottom crust. The filling had very little pork and where was the seasoning? Once the pie was cut, the inside looked liked a pressed sandwich. The sell date is use by 2/26. It has been in my cold refrigerator for a week. Today is 2/20. I felt it would be fine to eat. Yet, here I am feeling slightly nauseous. I know that inflation is causing food companies to adjust how they make their products. It has done a number on a number of foods I had liked. I have to tell you that I would rather pay a higher price for the pork pie Mailhot's is known for rather than a questionable stripped down version of the pork pie I have enjoyed all my life. If the company hadn't changed the pie, I would be awarding 5 stars. Can't do that anymore. I wish, I could, but I have more than half a pork pie to toss into the trash. J. Morin read more

Bought a Chicken pot pie at Hannanfords, Looked good , no filling to speak of. Loads of crust top and , so thick that the top was eatible but then it was mush. same with the bottom. So gross I will never buy again. Rip off for sure. read more

I am familiar with Mailot's as they make a variety of French Canadian meat products such as creton (pork pate spread), pork pie (tourtiere) as well as salmon pie. I found these items at my local Market Basket and I do purchase them from time to time when I do not feel like making them myself. One comment on the pork pie as it is a very thin pie and not too "meaty". The creton is just the perfect consistency. Just right texture and when cold, you can still spread it on toast. read more

My mother-in-law is probably the only one that makes a better Tourtiere. I bought a chicken pot pie at my local grocer, excited to have something fresh and probably healthier than reaching for a frozen one. Unfortunately there was 95% crust and saying 5% filling is being generous. My boyfriend and I each had maybe 3 bites of filling each and we split the pie down the middle! With both my parents coming from Quebec pork pie was a staple in our home. The French love pork pie and make it many different ways. My family always used a little bit of beef mixed in with the pork which gave her a very nice consistency and volume to the pie. Great Job Mailhot! Thanks for giving me a taste of home. read more

We were very disappointed with the pork pie. It had basically no meat at all and was more of an instant potato pie. Also it had little seasoning and tasted blah. Even the last time we had the pie it still had very little meat in it. Mailhot's pork pie should at least have pork in it because that's why it's called a PORK pie!!!!!!! read more

I have been buying Mailhot's creton for many years, recently I have noticed the consistency to be different. The last container seems to be creamier than usual, not as much onion flavor. I hope they are not following down other companies paths by reducing ingredients to save costs. read more

I have to write Mailhot's again to commend them on their sausage. I had bought them before, but thought I'd try the Hannaford ones. Big mistake! Every link had gristle in them! Not so Mailhots! I guess you get what you pay for. Needless to say, I will be buying Mailhots sausage from now on. As for the meat pies that someone else had problems with, I could not attest to as make my own "tourtiere's" to my "taste". Smashing good ! read more
