This place needs some help. The bowling here is atrocious. There was no attendant when we needed help. Lanes are too short and have no oil so don't come if you can somewhat bowl. This place has tremendous management and most of the workers are amazing. Read that line twice because it's true. I really didn't want to adjust my rating, but I don't play about my family particularly my 8 year old nephew. The games, bowling, and laser tag are 5 star. This review is solely for the bar/dining area. Really for the waitress I had tonight. I ordered bbq boneless wings for my 8 year old. The server bought out buffalo wings soaked in hot sauce. I explained that we ordered bbq and he's too young for hot sauce and the waitress told me she works part time in a daycare and they "give kids hot sauce all the time"......okay again I ordered bbq for my 8 year old. After a back and forth she finally took the wings and returned 2 minutes later with bbq bone-in wings saying boneless was unavailable....My order was wrong too. They brought me tater tots when I ordered fries, but not a big deal. So drinks come out and they gave me and my 8 year old glasses of soda and his best friend received a plastic kids cup with a top. Check comes. Plastic kids cup was $1.50. Adults glasses $3.50 each. I told waitress they are 6 months apart and I need a kids cup for both. She explained he already started drinking the soda out the glass. I said fine I'll pay the $3.50 but he wants the same plastic cup his friend has. The waitress refused and brought me a plain paper cup. So my question is do you have to be a parent to understand that if my 8 year olds friend got a plastic cup he's going to want the same plastic cup??? Again, I already paid $3.50 which was $2 more than the kids cup cost. I just needed the plastic cup to keep the peace between the kids. I'm convinced the kids cups are secretly made of gold because the waitress was so ridiculous that I had to ask for a manager. The manager was extremely professional and polite. He immediately understood my request for a plastic kids cup and the fact that I'm not giving my 8 year old wings soaked in hot sauce.....The manager made it right, but it never should have escalated to the need for management intervention. I understand there are staffing shortages etc, but if you are going to work in an establishment where people bring their children then I implore you to follow the golden rule and do unto others. Between the games, activities, and food, I never walk out this place spending less than $300. $500 if I bring my goddaughters...... I saved this review as a draft to allow myself time to cool off before posting. It's the next day and I am still livid that she gave my baby buffalo wings soaked in hot sauce and the unnecessary cup drama. He actually ate a piece of a buffalo wing before I realized what it was. We didn't even make it home before it started messing with his stomach. I had to pull over and find a restroom for him. Smdh TIP: Main Event is attached to the Columbia mall and the mall food court is one level below. In the future, I will save myself some money and avoid the drama by taking the kids to the mall food court to eat. I visited this as a field trip with my students for work, so take everything with a grain of salt. The booking process was pretty simple, but once we got there it was a different story. First, when we arrived, there was no one in the front to talk to us. I had to go inside the establishment to the bowling section to get support. Turns out I needed to check in at the Sales office since I had a party package. I wish someone told me that in the beginning instead of waiting around for 20 or more minutes. Once I went in the Sales room, I finished paying for the bill. There were 5 people in there, while the place was going to hell in a hand basket with no servers for the lanes and only one person checking people in to give them wristbands and shoes. They should be ashamed of themselves seeing as though school let out and you know it will be crowded on a Friday. In regards to the food, the pizza was ok and we had to get the kids to go individually to fill up their drinks at a fountain instead of a server bringing pitchers or filling the drinks themselves. After all the horrible service, we ended up having fun with the bowling, laser tag, and arcade games. If they got better management and more staff, this place has a lot of potential, especially since it is located at Columbia Mall. It's just unfortunate that I experienced this because I will not recommend this place to anyone with kids. Take your business elsewhere. read more

My boyfriend and I decided to go bowling on a whim yesterday and drove over to Main Event. When we arrived there was no one by the door to guide us where to go. The signs on the wall were easy to navigate. There was one person on the desk. We arrived at 5 and it took us 25 mins to go all the way through. The front desk person who did our bowling order was nice. I recommend booking online for the bowling as there was a separate queue for it. The bowling balls we needed were already on the lane when we got there. We took a photo together (cute!) and then bowled. About half way through our bowling game we wanted a few drinks. Menus were on the table but no server around to take our orders. I could not find anyone on the floor while I walked around with the menu. I was eventually told to go to the bar after I finally spotted someone. This took about 10 minutes to order from the bowling time to get the drink. The drinks were fine - we got the margarita flight, the bartender who made them was nice. There was no one around to help with any malfunctions for bowling lanes. The group next to us was a bit lost trying to find someone but we luckily didn't have to. read more

I've been here on two occasions this year... both which were for bowling, which I am absolutely terrible at XD. It was easy to check-in both times, and the first time, we initially had me down as needing bowling shoes. But I actually didn't need them at all! They were easily able to refund the shoe rental fee at check-in, which can be difficult at some places! We were told which bowling lane to go, and got right to it! The setup is self-explanatory, as you can go right to the screen, put in everyone's names, put up the gutter fences, all that. There's nothing to really complain about! I didn't have any food, but I did get water on occasion. Sometimes, it can be hard to flag down the staff , and the place gets super busy and crowded. I think the QR / Toasttab ordering system would work wonders here... I hope it's something they consider for the future, if they haven't already. In the future, I need to properly check out the arcade games and whatever else Main Event has to offer. Whenever I wanna play the games though, they're always occupied! :( read more

They need to close this place DOWN nowwww don't wait. I was expecting it to be better than D and B but it's actually smaller think half the size of. Also, with only half of the arcade games in comparison to D and B 1/3 of them were not working. Out of 3 VR systems intended for two players all of which one VR was broken on each game. The laser tag is an additional charge and uneventful as three of the vests I tried on didn't work and when you zap people there's doesn't even vibrate so you are literally aiming at targets for the hell of it. The menu is Uber small, no salmon or seafood options so as a pescatarian I was forced to eat rabbit food. The menu options are that of bar food very limited. Will not be back and the experience was so bad we still have 147 points to use that we will just take as a loss. read more

My friend and I decide to come here since DB is closed... we got some package deal, food and game time..... ** Whatever you do, dont eat here. Eat elsewhere. The service is awful... Food is just awful... we ordered burgers and just awful... We had to ask for everything! Utensils, sauces, etc... waiting for the check.. Its obvious they were Understaffed for a Saturday afternoon!! This place is freaking brilliant for all ages, all events. I visited a total of 3 times. The 1st time was for a 40th birthday, 2nd time was for a work event (retreat) where we actually rented out the private room and used in house caterers, and 3rd time was a family night out that we enjoyed. This place is so much fun! Its Lions Tigers and Bears O My type fun! I've never had so much fun playing video games and interactive games, bowling, etc. My only recommendation is better training for staff when it comes to customer service. They're not that friendly. Each of the 3 times I've visited, I've had mediocre service by employees. This establishment appears to be a people person type business that employs people who aren't personable. They always seem aggravated and unwilling to assist even when not busy. Just an observation. Absolutely disgusting... we came here to bowl and get drinks/food. First, the bartender didn't greet me at all. Her name is Chantell. She finally said something to me 15 minutes later. Probably because she seen me staring at her lol. But then she says, "it's only cash bar right now. Because our system is down.".. so i look at my gf and we were just like "um, okay.." then she comes back and says, "but i do take cashapp tho." So guess what? I ordered our shots and cashapped her ‍ even after this transaction, she didn't check on us and she went missing for 20 mins. She went outside to vape lol. So, I'm an adult first and foremost who came here on a date night. Just wanted a few drinks, grab a bite, and play some games before our movie started. The Long Islands were priced great ($8.71) but that's a high price for juice! My lady is about 5'6 and had two in less than an hour and felt nothing. The icing on the cake was that we ordered a personal pizza which never came. They gave us a buzzer and we went and played games for about 20 mins. Came back and the young lady said that they messed up the cheese pizza order so they were re-making it. After another ten minutes, we checked and she said it was being cooked. I finally asked for my money back and she told the supervisor "the customer doesn't want their pizza anymore." I wanted to say something but I looked the adult supervisor in his face and he clearly didn't care. No worries though. I saw the place and stopped in to enjoy an hour before a movie. Wouldn't recommend this place for food or drink but I would bring my 10-year old here to bowl...especially since there aren't a lot of options in the area. read more

We've been here before, but I finally decided to do a review. My son was invited to his buddy's birthday party at Main Event. This place is almost the same as D&B except Main Event seems to be cleaner. Aside from that difference they're practically the same. I do like the layout here better though. The laser tag area is a nice touch too. The kids really enjoyed it even though no running, jumping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, laying down, breathing. No wait, breathing is one of the few things you're allowed to do while playing laser tag. Lol! They stress safety and I'm all for it! After a game of laser tag the kids were brought over to their reserved dining area. The team at Main Event offered the children Hand Sanitizer which was thoughtful. However the parents all sent the kids to the restrooms to wash their hands instead. The bathrooms were in good shape too thankfully. I've seen some nightmares recently. After they ate the kids were served cupcakes which were purchased from an outside vendor. The Main Event team served each child which was a nice touch. Some places don't assist the parents with the cake or cupcake distribution. Way to go Main Event! Once the children were sufficiently fueled up on burgers, fries and sugar they were each given a card to play video games. I'm glad that there are a lot of kid and family friendly games available. The kids were all ecstatic! It was a really cool venue for the party and I'm sure my son will want to replicate it. Lol If the price is right, I may consider it. Stopped in to play arcade games while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. Four of the seven machines we used ate our credits and didn't work. None of the machines had out of order signs. Lines out the door at every service counter. Some sort of signage on any of the numerous broken machines seem like an easy fix. read more

Had a boys lunch here because we heard about it being like a Dave and Busters. I didn't stay long enough to check out the games, pool, and laser tag but did have the food. I ordered the chicken Caesar salad which was ok. Someone else from my party order the personal pepperoni pizza which looked good. White the servers (3 in the restaurant) were friendly, it was crazy we had to wait like 20minutes to get water for our table. Several of us also didn't get utensils. I should note, I rarely leave reviews--only if service is stellar or subpar, and this was subpar. I'd been to two other birthday parties with great service. Those experiences convinced me to choose Main Event for my kid's party. However, I am extremely disappointed by the service we received for my kid's birthday party at Main Event. 1. They ask that party-goers arrive 15 min early to get acclimated to the space, and so the host can go over the contract details, etc. I arrived 15 minutes early with a large group but no one was at the front to greet or orient us. I waited for some time then went to the bar to ask for help. 2. The space where we were to have food and to serve as "home base" was not ready when we got there. It was dirty with the trappings and waste from another party. We were told that we weren't expected for another hour...which makes no sense, as the signed contract clearly showed the time we were expected, which was the time we arrived 15 minutes prior to. 3. Because the space wasn't ready, we were delayed by 15 minutes. This point is important and will be unpacked below. 4. The space we were given was not sectioned off like I'd experienced twice prior at other birthday parties. Our area was in the middle of a walk way. I had to ask other patrons to please not cut through our party, or stop and linger over our food, on their way to the bathroom. 5. I paid extra for a balloon bouquet. We did not receive the balloon bouquet. I had to point that fact out to our host, even though it was spelled out in the contract we'd reviewed. They let me know that Party City did not drop off the balloons, which was disappointing as there were others with Party City balloon bouquets there. I should note, I don't believe this was our host's fault, and they acted quickly to offer us another option. 6. I ordered sliders, fries, pizza, and soft drinks. The sliders and fries were brought out. No drinks and no pizza until I tracked someone down to ask about the other items I ordered. This caused the full celebration to fall flat, as kids wandered off to buy food or drinks and wandered to keep playing games while the other food was being made. There wasn't a moment when all the kids were seated for the party because all the food was not there. 7. When you book a party, you get 3 hours of time and space. Referring back to point 3, the party did not start on time and was delayed by 15 minutes. At 5:15 I was advised that I'd need to move my group of kids to accommodate another incoming party. I didn't want another group to experience what my group had, so I'd already planned to have my group huddled by 5:15 and preparing to exit at 5:30, which would have been 3 hours exactly. It was very upsetting that we were shorted 15 minutes, then were softly ushered out with 15 minutes left on the original clock. In total, my kids lost 30 minutes of their 3 hour event time. Not the end of the world, of course, but given everything else... I did not get what I paid for and will not be going back. And I will advise others against hosting parties at Main Event. read more

Main event is much like Dave n busters but better. It's a good time for family fun, dates nights, and hanging out with friends. Main event features, restraints, bars, games, and a bowling alley. Plan your visit accordingly because it gets crowded in the afternoons and evenings. You can reserve a bowling lane in advance online and check in upon arrival is super easy. The bowling lanes have table service for food and drinks but don't expect quick service. The bar was back up so it took awhile to get drinks and it appears they were short staffed because our food took awhile to come . When the food finally arrival is was nice and hot and delicious. The location is convenient as well. It's next to restaurants and the mall so if you arrive before your reservation you can check other places out as well read more

Went to Main Event to hangout with my wife for Valentines Day. Stopped by the Family Kitchen place to eat. We were looking forward to eating first then having fun. Well we waited about 1 hour trying to order. Asking a couple of people for help. We were told there was only one person waiting on tables, despite seeing over 10 tables with guests. Several waiting to order. The one lady waiting on tables was swamped by the number of people coming in and also dealing with billing issues with some guests. The manager came out once and quickly left the left the young lady waitress, that did not seem to have much experience. We felt bad for her and tried to wait it out and give her a generous tip for working so hard. We felt so bad that she was the only one waiting tables, being yelled at by customers with the billing issues, and those waiting to order and there food. The manager(s) on duty should be ashamed of themselves leaving her alone. if the manager can't manage his staff to wait on customers, then maybe they should have helped her more. We decided to leave and go to dinner at a restaurant right beside the place. We were not in the mood to go back to gave fun. So much for having fun on one of our special days. We recommend eating somewhere else, and then go have fun at this place. read more

Overall not a bad experience. Its takes a hit for being way over crowded, trash not being cleaned, and the pool tables being way overpriced. The kids loved it however. And they had a lot of games they could play that also gave tickets. What little interaction I had with the staff I didn't have any issues. All of the games were working. We only purchased tokens. I intend to play pool on the table while the kids ran around but it was way overpriced. If your looking to play pool go to the pool hall. Here they charge by the half hour compared to an hour. The tables looked like they were maintained however so there is that. I definitely recommend here over DandBs. read more

I took my son 6 year-old son for birthday party. The staff checking people in were very inattentive, rude, and were more worried about their outside conversations with the multiple other employees standing around the desk than the line of customers. After a few minutes of waiting, I walked up to the register to ask to have my son checked in, and it seemed like I had interrupted his conversation and was very short with me. There were a lot of older kids in the arcade that were running through the games and in front of my son when he was trying to play a game. Then I was hit extremely hard in the chest with a basketball that was thrown by a teenage kid that was trying to hit another kid that was running by. These kids were out of control, and I did not feel safe being there with my 6 year-old son. We decided not to play anymore games, as my son was now getting upset that I was hit with a basketball and also did not like how rough the others were playing, that  went to check out and redeem the points earned. The kid at the counter was also too busy having conversations with other coworkers than doing his job. A child went to check how many points he had on his card, and could not hear the employee as he was mumbling. The kid asked again how many points he had, and the employee very briskly repeated it as if he were annoyed to be asked again. Then turned around to his coworker and said, "f-ing kids." I was mortified. I told the employee that was very inappropriate and that he was just a young kid trying to get clarification. I asked to speak to the manager, but no one came. I have never been more disgusted and disappointed. It is really a shame how the employees and other customers were acting. We usually get some kid who would visually rather be anywhere else in the world, and has no sense of urgency. There's alot of stuff to do here. Dont even talk to me about the food. I've been to the one in San Antonio, TX North location. It was a huge and a great time. I was expecting the same experience because Columbia is a really nice and bougie town. It was also my last minute plans for NYE. My experience was underwhelming but I'd still come back if I'm in the area because I love arcades. Pros: Location is perfect, games were reasonably priced and this location has bowling. Yikes. Do NOT host an event here. I had an event booked two months in advance with over 30 people in attendance. I showed up early and found security checking IDs due to an age restriction of 21+ after a certain time. In all of the communication and phone calls I had with employees and managers in the past, this was not once mentioned. I had to argue with both security and an employee that I DID have an event planned. (I had to pull up my emails and call logs since they couldn't find the event.) They said anyone under 21 would not be allowed in without an adult over 25. I had to get a manager (Seth was great btw. The only good staff I came across) to clear this up. I had to wait by the door and essentially 'check' people in for my own event so they wouldn't get turned away. (Keep in mind I was also running an event and people were asking me questions. Being a bouncer was not in my itinerary). It was horribly disorganized. The place was filthy and there was only one employee working the pizza section of the restaurant. I waited an hour for a single slice of pizza, told it was given away to someone else, then waited another 45 minutes before getting my money back. It was also terribly crowded and the entire vibe of the place was hostile. I don't know what's up with all these fights recently but really?? All this security around and there are kids' birthday parties happening and adults are having screaming matches with one another in the middle of the arcade. Wtf? I went back to read reviews from years ago and absolutely nothing has changed. Make changes and better your service! I don't even want a manager to respond to this to try and 'fix' this. Pretty cool place to have some fun in a contained space. I believe there is an entry from within the mall. When I went there was no entry fee. There are bunch of games to choose from for kids and adults. Money for games are played via a card and I believe that is the same method to obtain you prizes. Service was absolutely terrible, didnt have a waiter for 35 minutes and lanes did not work until one hour after the reservation time of us being there. Was shopping with my youngest and we decided to try this Dave & Busters Clone. From the entrance it looks clean and it was not crowded. Getting seated took longer than expected because no one was at the greeting station. Once seated and a review of the drink selection I saw they had Blue Moon on tap was looking up. We place our order. Ordered Spinach dip for both of us and I got the Sunnyside Up Burger with onion rings. My son ordered the Southwest Chicken. Enjoying the atmosphere mainly because it is not crowded. See attached photo. I may have spoke to soon about the atmosphere as a group of kids of about 20 in number has entered and another is at the entrance. This does not bode well. Appetizer and main course were delivered at the same time. This is not good. The dip is good and at the right temperature. My burger is sitting on the side. Well fries are cold and onion rings slightly warmer. Burger temp just a hair on the warm side. Have to give the 1 star. Horrible service, broken games, short staffed, paid for food never received, argued with manager instead of enjoying time there just to be lied to and never get my refund.
