We've been coming here for years for special events, and I've always loved their laser tag. However, my niece recently had her birthday party here, and the experience was disappointing. We were first served cold, undercooked pizza with some slices didn't even have the cheese melted. I'm not sure how that was approved to be brought out. The next round of pizzas came out cooked, but many were burnt, so it felt like the quality swung from one extreme to the other. The party was given additional game cards to make up for it, which we appreciated, but the situation was still embarrassing, especially for hosting a party. We also learned afterward that soft drinks were included in the party package, yet the staff only provided water and never mentioned soft drinks as an option. On top of that, the staff didn't seem very friendly and appeared annoyed with our group, even though the issues weren't caused by us. We had 4 high functioning autistic young adults from our program up there at the same time. They were having trouble getting around and a couple of them were scared. My son had to be helped across at one point because he starting panicking. Carlos handled the whole situation with patience and kindness. I went to a manager to compliment his employees and he was super nice too. I also politely pointed out a couple of broken machines because i dont like when rude people complain and i was hoping to save him some grief. He was so nice! I visited Main Event located at 151 in San Antonio, Texas with my family to enjoy an afternoon together, but unfortunately, the food service completely ruined the experience. The food took far too long to come out, and when I went to check on the order, the cashier had a very unpleasant attitude. Even worse, she wasn't wearing a hair net, and her long hair was literally hanging into the ice cream freezer--completely unsanitary. On top of that, I noticed the slushie machine had disposable gloves covering the spouts, which is a serious food safety issue. Gloves are meant for hands, not food equipment, and it was extremely concerning to see this kind of practice. After dealing with the cashier's dismissive behavior and lack of urgency, I finally had to call the manager over. By then, the situation had already left a really negative impression. Main Event is supposed to be a fun place for families, but when the basics of food safety and respectful customer service are ignored, it makes it hard to enjoy the experience. Luckily I have 50$ to my name and I decide to 5 dollars for some fries and some other things my friends want. How long do you think I waited at that table for? "5 minutes, 10 minutes, f### it even 20 minutes would be ok. We sat at that table with nothing to do for A F###### OUR. When I realize it's taking way too long to get our food so I ask if he kid sitting on the table next to us "Hey, how long did you wait for food" want to know how long it took for him? FIVE MINUTES. Then I see it, our food and I get geeked because we finally get food, we get our food that we waited a whole hour for. I take one bite of my food and it's A##. It tasted like they took our food to the bathroom and did unspeakable things to it, but screw it, we waited an hour in going to eat all of my food and when I finish it i get the sudden urge to use the bathroom. I was in the bathroom for TWO HOURS. When I finally get out my a##hole is gone but at least I still get to play games right? I came to main event with my 15 year old daughter. We purchased the unlimited wristband only to find out that the ropes course is closed, which was her favorite. I spent $107 on the game card which gets you 753 credits (1-5 credits per game) and $25 for the wristband which covers laser tag, ropes course and bowling. Bowling is $5 more for the shoes. We ate in the "restaurant", the food was overall what I expected and I have no complaints on the food. The service was the real issue. The server took our order which included an appetiser, he came back 20 minutes later with the meals only. He came back once after dropping off the food. I waited and waited for the waiter to check on us, it took him another 25 minutes to see if I need anything else. The restaurant wasn't very busy. The waiter that was helping another table came back several times to check on his tables. We just didn't win the lottery with our server. Bonus, the women's bathroom wasn't clean. Overall if you're going to spend hundreds of dollars you're better off going to top golf or popstroke. read more

Came here on a Monday evening for my wife's cousins birthday. I had never been to a Main Event location so I was a bit intrigued. The place is really huge with a lot of different activities. There a bunch of different video games, air hockey, laser tag, pool tables, bowling lanes. Quite impressive that all this was in one spot! We had dinner first before we got to the games. I had a couple of slices of cheese pizza which I thought was pretty good. Although they have a bar with draft beer I opted just to have a fountain drink. We had a great time tonight. A lot of the games weren't working properly but the staff handled it very well and credited us for our troubles. We tried the pepperoni pizza, it was okay. It was mainly crust. I do have to say though that we loved how crispy the pepperonis were on it and it wasn't overly greasy which was nice. There is a security vehicle for surveillance, however it did not ease me from the sight of all the broken glass in the parking lot from vehicle break-ins. The service was mediocre at best. None of the staff were smiling or happy to be working there. We had previously purchased some gift cards but when trying to pay for our drinks at the bar. The bartender told us they could not accept the gift card there because it makes their computer crash and I can only pay with the gift card at the shoe rental station. I notified the supervisor that with the gift card, I could purchase any game, food, or drink item at the Main Event. I directed them to their own fine print of the gift card They reluctantly were able to swipe the gift card. It just made the experience unpleasant for all parties involved. A server had took it upon herself and tipped herself $6.55 without my consent. It was included in our total when she had brought the tablet for my tab to be paid. I clicked on no tip to just pay for my drinks because she had only brought us drinks 15 minutes into our bowling and checked on us ONCE right before our hour ended. Once my card was processed and approved, I noticed there was a tip when it had showed the itemized portion (mind you, she clicked through some stuff on the tablet straight to the tip portion, so I wasn't able to see it the first time). When she had asked if I wanted a receipt, I said yes and she seemed pretty hesitant. Once I saw the receipt, there was indeed a tip that I absolutely did not consent to. She had included the tip into the total of our drinks when she had told me the amount. I can't imagine how many other people have been taken advantage of like this. I thought maybe it's a required gratuity, so I asked the cashier at the front and he had advised me that it's not the case and called up a manager. Daniel or Danny helped me out and gave the tip back to me in cash. He had let me know he was going to "investigate" whether or not it was intentional or not. Great place to hold your company team building event! Bowling, ropes course, ski ball, pop-a-shot, video games, laser tag, and a full bar complimented by FOOD! I mean really what more could you ask for... oh yeah SERVICE... and they had it a plenty! We showed up for our team building event right on time... all 35 of us... and the staff dug in and got Us all organized right away. They immediately started handing out our team badges, that they printed out, with our team name and actual names as well as wrist bands for drinks. We had two coordinator and several wait staff guiding us and taking care of us the whole time we were here. They were all phenomenal! The facility was spotless! From the bowling to the bathrooms from the bar to the ropes coarse... it was immaculate! Our first event was team bowling... tag team... you alternate the people rolling the ball down the lane. Our team all professed to be horrible bowlers but we still cane in second! The lanes are very easy to manage with electronic score boards, great organization and the boards even tell you how fast your ball is going! From there we went to the ropes course. I don't like heights but I was determined to get out of my comfort zone. The idea is that your team has to pass through several obstacles from platform to platform via various ropes to score points. We won the ropes course. From there we entered the laser tag room... it is truly upscale, large, and majorly FUN! The guns have two setting one for sniping and one for crowd control. It is dark with lots of hiding places but man it was a blast!! We won laser tag also. Lastly they took us through rounds of ski ball and pop-a-shot challenges that we ended up coming in second in as well. All the while the wait staff was providing craft beer selections as well as wine or mixed drinks. They just never missed a beat. After all the fun and games we retired to our private room where we had a buffet style dinner that included salmon and a meat carving section. I am usually pretty skeptical of buffets and really any meals served from places like this, but I have to say it was really very good! Everything was on point, fresh, flavorful and there was plenty. Again our service was fantastic! We never wanted for anything... they took care of us at every turn even providing framed certificates for the winning teams of each round and an over all winner for the whole game... which my team won again! As a parent, I asked my kid where he wanted to have his birthday party cause this mama didn't want to have it at the house where I would have to clean up. He said he wanted to go to Main Event because he absolutely loves the laser tag there. *parents note: there is a height requirement! If you have younger kids say 7 or below, make sure they are over 48" tall or they won't be able to do the gravity walk or laser tag! Laser tag having a height requirement of 48" is absurd! It should be a minimum of 42". Luckily this didn't affect my kid even though they measured them because of their ages.* Bethany, our host was great! She accommodated us when necessary and was incredibly professional. I didn't have one bad thing to say about any of the workers there! They were all courteous and helpful! Although my child and his friends had a great time, there are a few downsides, from a parental perspective. 1. They are NOT flexible with changes to the reservation. I understand having a minimum but anything after that should be allowed to go down to the minimum, especially if individuals don't show. I mean I had 11, and 5 bailed on me. I was willing to pay the 10, but asked to remove one and said they couldn't. We all know people bail or cancel but they should allow the guest to remove them and not get charged. I understand timing is the issue but that should be for parties greater than 20! I get the business needs to make money but leaving it at the minimum should be fine. 2. I was under the impression we were going to be in a private room and not out in the open. I had no clue it was out in the open. I was very disappointed in this. I was told I could upgrade to a private room but I thought since I got the ultimate pkg it would have been included and it wasn't. Not to mention if you have a rather large party and it fills up with kids! Sorry parents, there is NO seating for you!!!! 3. I got the ultimate package but my son never participated in a scavenger hunt, or any VIP treatment. I saw lanyards and other stuff on the table but my son never received any of them. 4. At the beginning of our arrival, I was told that we would have our own private laser tag session both times. Neither was the case. At one point there were so many people in there we were bumping into each other and it was hard to maneuver. I asked the host Bethany why there were other people outside of the party and she said she wasn't sure, that it happens sometimes. This was rather disappointing as well. If the timing based on the number of people in your party is a concern, then why did we're there other people in our slotted time slots? 5. In situations where younger kids have their birthdays here, might I suggest another business practice? You should incorporate some sort of wrist band or stamp (like chuck-e-cheese) that indicates the party or child so that in the event they get lost or say someone tries to take them, someone manning the door can verify if that child should be leaving with that person Or where this child should be. It's a security measure for our precious little humans. This isn't a complaint, just a suggestion. People will say, keep an eye on your children, but things happen! We're not all perfect! Although the experience for my son was a good one, from a mother's perspective, I honestly expected more. It felt SUPER rushed and not being able to at least go from 11 to 10 people was disappointing. I know you sign a contract at the beginning but this should be looked at again. You should understand that people will cancel on the party goers all the time and I get your business needs to make money but it should also be reasonable. My complaints were more logistical and operational rather than your personnel. I think next time we will go to Urban Air where the activities are not so stringent on time. It could also be that this is more for teenagers than younger kids! read more

Sat down to have a bite to eat before some games and the service was horrible food took way too long to get to our table and they didn't even bring our drinks out all together. My chicken caesar flatbread sandwich had no eggs or peperoncini on it and when I asked for a discount the manager walked to the back and brought a plate full of chicken, eggs, and peperoncini (which I didn't ask for...) the games were fun lazer tag was pretty great and the ambiance was pretty cool! Annually, our company has our outing to treat the employees here with fun and leisure. 1) The food was extremely bland and was cool [not hot, warm or cold]. 2) Customer Service was very depressing. Not one Main Event employee we had or saw were smiling. Looked as if they were not wanting to be there. We had asked for assistance and placed orders, each staff rolled their eyes at us and acted like we were interrupting them or making them work. 3) There was also a party on the last 2 lanes prior to our company's bowling tournament, in which they allowed kids to eat on the approach area (before the foul line) of the lanes. There were food all over the floor which left the approach lane very greasy and slippery. An employee went and sprayed what looked like window cleaner on it and wiped with a paper towel.
