Things I liked - My pizza - the dough was delicious, the shaved fennel was delicious My Aperol Spritz was good, the addition of olives is strange but not bad My husband had the PAPPARDELLE and it was good, I liked the currants, a new twist for pasta for me. Things that could be better- My pizza could have had a lot more of the spicy sausage. It only had maybe 4-5 small pieces on the entire thing The PAPPARDELLE could have had a lot more actual meat in the meat sauce Neither of us cared for the corn polenta. It had a taste that we didn't care for. The saffron aioli was bland and tasteless. All in all it was a good meal. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back, but I also wouldn't tell anyone not to go there.

We were in the mood for pizza and Locale was the perfect choice. The space is very cute, staff is super friendly with their service and the food and drinks were really good and fresh. Would definitely come back here

This is my first…read moretime here so I'm not sure if the configuration it was supposed to be as tight where they have like two high top tables directly behind other dining tables so some acrobatics were needed to be done by both the white staff and customers to sort just move around. I didn't mind that much since it was actually pretty tight and cozy so it actually brought up the energy I think. We already had reservations, so we received a fairly quickly, and the white stuff were very professional and courteous. The food did not disappoint. The calamari came out fresh and hot. Crispy and the banana peppers gave it just the right heat. The marinara sauce paired well with it. The Lobster Fra Diavolo was done in a cute heart shaped, so that was delightful. Lobster was done perfectly and the slightly spicy sauce of the pasta paired beautifully. My favorite was actually the marsala. The Fusilli was done perfectly al dente and soaked in that delicious sauce that was flavorful and clung so well to the pasta. The chicken breast was well marinated and super tender and juicy. Honestly, I wouldn't hesitate to order this again next time.

Cafe Amaro....No Bene!…read more North End is one of my favorite Boston neighborhoods for Italian food especially Pizza. But this time, not so much! We walked in here on a Sunday afternoon and stopped at Cafe Amaro since they had open tables. The restaurant is very small probably about 10 or so tables. We sat right up against the kitchen which was warm since it was a bit chilly outside. After about 5-8 minutes went by our server came over and we asked to sample 2 glasses of wine. They were not good at all. After tasting one more we finally landed on the Chianti. We then waited longer to place our order which was the Prosciutto and Fig pizza. I also ordered a soda water with lemon which never came. Note: there are 2 servers and I believe 1 speaks English but I am not 100% sure. Once our server finally came over my husband had to remind him of the soda water which he proceeded to say "we only have large bottles." Ok, thanks for letting me know since the other server/busser did not. Does he work here? Does he know the menu? Why wouldn't he tell me this the first place? Our pizza finally came and even after ordering it well done it was still floppy and flimsy to the point when everytime we went to pick up the slice everything fell off...UGH! I don't know how in the North End this place gets by or survives? Maybe they were having an off day? I do see other reviews that had better experiences than ours. Maybe they were short on staff? If that was the case then say something because I probably would've had more patience and understanding if this was the case. BTW, Our server NEVER came over after ordering our wines and pizza. He never asked "how is everything?" NEVER... I also rarely give one/two stars to restaurants but this was despicable and I really hope this is not their norm. All I have to say is there are so many other better restaurants in the North End to go to, but Cafe Amaro is not one of them.

Service was quick but you could tell that the servers were very busy and didn't have much time for pleasantries. The restaurant was packed and loud (definitely recommend having reservations) and tables were VERY close together, making it tricky to get in and out of the seating, even for my husband and I who are not large people. For the food - mine was outstanding! I tried a homemade pasta with a blush sauce and it was fantastic. The pasta was fresh with the perfect consistency, and the sauce was so rich and well flavored. My husband, who is gluten intolerant, had gluten free pasta with broccolini and sausage. He said his meal was just ok. The gluten free pasta looked to be the same brand we buy at home, and the flavor of the sauce was average. Overall, it was a fun night out, but I think we would probably opt to try a different North End restaurant next time.

I love a dim lit restaurant; however, a candle on our table or a small table light would be appreciated (we had to take one from another table). In addition, the music was really loud we found ourselves having to speak loudly to hear one another and we could clearly hear the conversations of the tables around us. As for the food, we didn't have many positive things to say. The highlight of the meal was the pesto dipping sauce that came with the bread and the fries that came with the steak. The bread tasted and felt stale, not off to a great start. Additionally, the meatballs came out room temperature, they didn't really have any flavor, and they tasted freezer burnt. My significant other really enjoyed the cacio e pepe sauce that came with the arancini but I wasn't a fan. The arancini itself was really good. As for our entrees neither of us were a fan of our dishes. I only ate a couple of bites of my pasta and my boyfriend said the steak wasn't great. We didn't have high hopes for dessert but my significant other enjoyed the tiramisu, but the cannolis just weren't good. Overall, the service was okay and the food not so great. Not sure if it's because we ordered off the dine out menu, but we probably won't return. You could get better italian food somewhere else in the North End.

It was packed at all the restaurants today (per usual) and we did not feeling like waiting at all LOL. Luckily, we came across BenCotto & it seemed like they had some menu items we would enjoy. We were able to get seated for a table for two without waiting. Great vibes in here, right off the bat. All of the staff was incredibly friendly! We decided to get pasta today & ordered a bolognese gnocchi and a pesto gnocchi (w/ chicken add-on). So, how their pasta ordering works is, you get to choose your choice of pasta with the sauces! We both decided to get the fresh gnocchi (+$5). They have fresh pasta, gluten free (+$4 for penne & +$6 for gnocchi), and regular pasta (no extra charge) options to choose from. It's $10 to add extra protein (chicken/sausage) & +$12 for shrimp or veal add-on. So, it honestly does get expensive pretty quick but the pastas were so good! The gnocchi was soft and very enjoyable. I don't usually have the best experience with getting gnocchi but I couldn't help myself after seeing all the good photos of the gnocchi haha. The bolognese was great! Nice meat sauce with beef, pork, and veal. I noticed it also had celery. It was full of flavor and the gnocchi was honestly just cooked perfectly to my liking. Next time, I think I will definitely be getting the pesto though! I loved the bolognese, but the pesto was addictive! I typically order pesto pastas and I especially LOVED this pesto sauce. It was herby, creamy, & garlicky goodness. This with our add-on of chicken for the pesto gnocchi was absolutely AMAZING. Chicken was juicy and cooked well. ALSO, portion sizes were generous. After only eating 1/3 of the plate of gnocchi, we were already feeling full lol. Hopefully the leftovers will hit just the same! Our server was super nice & attentive. Will definitely come back again and give their pizzas a try!
