It's a greta place for brunch and lunch. They have a wide selection and have friendly staff. I love the quaint atmosphere. They get really busy during lunch. I gave up carbohydrates for lent. I was so pleased to have a broad range of options for dishes with no carbs without sacrificing flavor and texture. It was around 2 and the lunch crowd was thinning out but we found the service to be really bad- we felt forgotten a few times - our meal took forever to come out and when it did, the fries were not hot and it seemed like maybe it sat waiting to be picked up. We waited way too long to pay our check. The bright side- My shrimp tacos were quite delicious and my side salad was such good quality lettuce - nice and fresh. We were in town to watch a play and ended up having dinner at this restaurant. Street parking was available for free in front of the restaurant so that was a bonus. Server was friendly and quickly apologized after my first dinner option was not available. It was 5:30 pm so it must have been a popular day for turkey burgers. I settled for the steak tips cooked medium with their advertised pearl couscous. When my dinner came, it had some sort of wild rice wit broccoli. I brought this up to the server's attention and she told us that she thought that it came with couscous. This was followed by a visit from another person that I assume was the manager or owner (she didn't tell us who she was when she addressed us) who explained that they were going through a menu change. She offered to substitute the side but I declined. I think that a choice should have been offered at the time I ordered since they knew it wasn't available as listed on the menu. As for my dinner, the rice was under seasoned and my steak tips were unevenly cut which resulted in some tips being medium and many medium well. I liked the sauce served with the steak tips. We finished dinner sharing a strawberry shortcake. It looked pretty but the scone was super dry even with the strawberry sauce. Bathrooms were clean and I liked the kind message posted in case a person needed help. read more

I'm a repeat customer to this cafe whenever I'm in Concord, MA. The place is small and cozy and has that New England countryside vibe. The front is beautifully decorated with live plants and flowers with benches to watch people walk by. There are many quaint shops to browse in while waiting for our name to be called. We came here to eat after riding the bike trail with our bike rentals. I chose a bowl of New England clam and corn chowder which was fresh and delicious. My daughters had sandwiches each with chips and pickles. We ordered Lemonade to drink and it was too sweet that we didn't finish the drinks. They also have several flavors of ice cream. Food wasn't bad ( had the cheeseburger...they charge me extra for Swiss ) but the service was s-low, s-low, s-l-oooo-w. We had somebody who took our order and never gave us water to begin with so we had to go to the bar to request some water and they finally brought us some. Very slow on the follow up and it seems like a relatively crowded restaurant. I just think that the service could be a little improved only because we are about to see a show down the street and the crowd was picking up. Absolutely horrible. Waitress was actually nasty to us. We went for my aunts birthday for breakfast and wanted to have a nice time. My mom told waitress that the coffee was cold and the waitress said rudely "ITS COLD??" Then we ordered and proceeded to wait 40 minutes for our food without the waitress updating us and it was not busy. I ordered the bagel with lox and received eggs Benedict and when I said that's not what I ordered she just stared at me. Then we asked for burnt bacon and it came out basically uncooked. Waitress never came back to offer drink refills or ask how our food was. (My aunt needed another drink, someone needed more syrup and someone else wanted pepper) We had to ask for our check and she never said thank you. We will not be back. read more

Stopped in here for a meal before going to a show. The place looked inviting and had that cafe vibe we were looking for. We were seated in a timely manner even though the place was busy but not crazy. I ordered a Main Streets Mule, what great drink! My partner tried to order the Turkey Feta Burger, however was told they had run out of Feta. This should have been pointed out from the start, highly doubt it had just happened and indicates poor communication within the employees. Instead we both went for the Steak Tips. When the Meals came out, there was a heap of wild grain rice and broccoli as the side, not pearled couscous as indicated in the menu. The steak tips were small and unevenly sized, resulting in unevenly cooked meat. Some well done and others the required medium rare. Nice sauce and good flavor but the texture on the smaller was like rehydrated beef jerky. The rice was flavorless! Needed salt and pepper in a desperate way. Upon questioning the server about the change in side, she quickly asked if we wanted something else. We told her we just wanted to know why the change in side without notification. What I assume is the Manager, came over about 10 minutes later and explained that they were changing menus and they no longer were serving couscous or steak tips for that matter. They were going with steak and rice. This just confirmed the poor communication that exists, and for $75 I would have expected a much a better meal. We did decide to order dessert, strawberry shortcake. We were informed that it could potentially be with a scone and biscuit, server didn't know which one it would be. What we got was a large dried out mixed berry scone with a strawberry sauce made from strawberries which had clearly started to turn to mush. Not the taste or texture we were expecting and while it wasn't bad, it also wasn't great. TLDR: overpriced food with an inaccurate menu and poor communication that impacts the customer. read more

Stopped by on a rainy Saturday to meet a friend for coffee. It was pretty busy but there were still empty tables. Ambiance is nice - very charming and comfortable except for the fact that it does get very crowded and therefore pretty loud. I ordered a hot coffee and the miniature cheesecake. They give you a small pot of coffee that fills about three of the little mugs they use. Coffee was decent. The cheesecake was good but incredibly sweet. I like my cheesecakes a little more on the tart side. The cherries that were served on top helped cut through the richness a little but there were only three of them. Also worth noting that they do have a few gluten free bakery items in the display case. Service was friendly and prompt. read more

We came here with friends as they had been here before and highly recommended it. They had some Gluten Free options for those looking for it. Their Chilli was delicious. Work locally and always look for good spots to grab lunch in Concord center. Unfortunately, I and have generally been disappointed at every visit. Every few years I think I'll give them another try, and always walk away regretting it. Each time I've ordered food, the pickup has been late and has been a lot more expensive than the content warrants (size and quantity). At my last visit (recently in the past month), it was a hot day and I ordered a lemonade. The flavor was good, but I was waiting in line for ten minutes to place the order (with at least one staff member present but not taking orders or making anything), ordered just the drink, paid $8(!!!!) plus rip, and waited another five minutes to receive it. It was okay, but for the time, size, and price, I should've walked to Crosby's and bought a bottle of simply lemonade. Also this month, a coworker ordered lunch and had to pop out of work to pick it up. Not only was it not done on time, but they left work to pick it up FOUR TIMES after it was supposed to be done and kept getting blown off! When it was finally done, didn't get an apology, untensils, or anything. Overall, my review is that this resteraunt is a bit overrated; definitely a place that tourists flock to, but the overall experience is always subpar. Doesn't feel like they respect the time of their customers (which is particularly upsetting when it is causing multiple interruptions to a workday UW to inaccurate pickup times). May give it a try again in another year or so and will update the review then. read more

He was grumpy, gave us side eye, and fussed over the tip, actually reaching over us to pick it up off the table while acting annoyed. Tonight was my first time at Main Streets for dinner. Was less than great. We had a reservation and were seated on time, but it took 10 minutes for any server to acknowledge us, bring water, etc. There was live music tonight, and we received our drinks just as the band was starting. They were at the end of their fourth song by the time our server came back and asked us if we were ready to order, 20 minutes. So after 40 minutes we hadn't even ordered appetizers. There are perhaps 15 tables in this restaurant so I was curious about the slowness, as there appeared to be plenty of staff. The tables around us seemed not to experience the same delays. One table that got there well after us received their food at about the same time we got ours. My dinner was okay. Salmon ($28) was small but tasty. The giant bed of pasta was your basic boxed cavatappi, nothing special. Not once did our server come back to fill our waters, or ask if we wanted more drinks. I had one beer the entire time there. I hate to ding this place, because they are one of my favorite breakfast spots when I'm out on my bike. Looks like I will be sticking to that. read more

Forty minutes to get the smallest burger I've ever seen, Asian noodles with chicken but they forgot to cook the noodles, Terrible coleslaw with dry carrot and cabbage in a tiny tiny paper ramekin, when we asked for more they said itll cost you !! We were refused wine glasses from a busboy , she said it wasn't her job! I called to let the manager know how poor the food and service was but I'm afraid she took the view that she had our 235$ and we should have complained on the night in front of our guests!!!! Yea I am going to have to say I really like Main Streets cafe. I've probably eaten here half dozen times and it's a solid place. Service is good. I took my dad here once and he got a piece of carrot cake that was just so good, he told me it was one of the best he ever had and we could only eat half the piece because it was so huge. I'm on Yelp a lot and not sure why the overall rating isn't higher.... It's a great cafe breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner. Everyone's friendly. This was a wonderful small cafe with outstanding food and service. Waitress Maire Whitney was smiling and on the spot for everything we needed. Our order came very quickly, and the food was amazing. However, I was in there recently and order a double paddle smash burger and a cup of tea. This came to $30, tax included. The smash burger was listed at $25. That was high so I expected large paddies, and a lot of fries. I got the opposite. The two paddies were less than 3 ounces each; the fries were just over a hand full; the bun small and at the point of stale; the food was not hot when it came. I left hungrey. I could have gotten a better burger for far less money a McDonald's. Serious! I am sorry Main Street Cafe. We are breaking up. read more

We have a kiddo who has both celiac (medically necessary gluten-free) and an egg allergy, so finding places to eat out can be a challenge. Main Streets Cafe had GREAT service to accommodate our food allergies, as well as the rest of our 8 person group. Kudos to Tami our server and the manager Jenifer who personally walked our kiddo's order through the line to insure no gluten cross-contamination. And.. it was delicious for everyone! Hearty portions - we all left stuffed. We all liked the vibe and style, too. For those interested in the GF experience: It's not a dedicated GF restaurant, but they do have a separated area of the kitchen where any baking is done and have a dedicated GF fryer. Really great service, with patience plus knowledge about allergens, ingredients (especially important when there's an egg allergy along with Celiac, like with us) and what substitutions can be made. First thing: $19 for a Reuben and 1/4 of a pickle? And charging $1 extra for french fries? Shame on me for staying. Even great Reubens shouldn't cost that much, and this was far from that. It was soggy from a ridiculous overabundance of Thousand Island dressing, making it very messy to eat. In contrast the cheese was almost nonexistent and the corned beef portion was also on the small side. Sauerkraut? Present, but overwhelmed by the flood of dressing. French fries? First batch was not hot; not much over room temperature. I told the waitperson. He acted surprised but brought a new batch. The new ones were hot - right out of the frier. But terrible; like the worst fries imaginable. Crispy on the outside but dry and starchy on the inside and somehow seemed "hollow". My take is they were fried and refried too many times. Were they house-made or from a bag? Irrelevant; they were just awful. Serving the water in ancient plastic glasses, scuffed from years of use, served to further confirm an impression of mediocrity. At least two of the staff had alarming coughs, including my waitperson. In this time of heightened awareness due to Covid it was disconcerting to say the least. In my opinion they should not have been allowed to work but couldn't they at least hide them in the back? Fortunately, 10 days later I'm happy to report I dodged a bullet, health-wise. Other than that I have no issue with the quality of the service. Too bad Concord is such a dining wasteland that I might consider going back, its 2 star rating notwithstanding.
