Perfect little bar, especially for happy hour. Me and a couple of my friends had the best time here on a Friday afternoon. The bartender was super cool and accommodating. He lets us taste the house happy hour wines before we selected one. Heli and I chose the Cabernet while Tomas went with the rose. A hefty pour of wine in a sparkling clean glass makes anyone happy. You know what else makes me happy? $8 appetizers. In particular, an $8 happy hour mini risotto with mushrooms, cream, butternut squash, and balsamic served in a little individual sized cast iron skillet.. I'm serious. It was as delicious as it sounds and I couldn't believe the amazing price and portion size. We also ordered the $8 sausage sampler which was totally delicious. I'm a huge fan of tapas so this place was 100% up my alley. We met new friends here and could have spent hours at our cozy bar stools. What a cool vibe in Harlem! We went for a Thursday night dinner and were lucky to get a reservation because it was pretty packed. The decor is cool and the menus are made from old record albums. We ordered the escargot and moules frites. Both tasted so good that our only issue was we wanted more! The mussels had the occasional grit, but the flavor was so good that we were still impressed. He ordered the truffle macaroni and cheese for his entree and it was the perfect amount of truffle oil, not too overpowering. I had the canard magret, which was delicious and full of flavor. On the way to a barbecue with classmates, my friends and I stopped by here to pre-game it. The front of the place is the bar area, and we were able to all fit in there. The bartender was nice, and took care of us well. I had some shots, and a latte (feel free to make fun of me). The prices were comparable to other bars in the area, and the latte provided a much needed energy booster. The back of the place is the restaurant. I didn't get food this time around, so that will come in a later review. They have a good assortment of drinks and snacks, my friends were content with them. It's always a struggle to find a French restaurant that's Vegetarian friendly. They have a wonderful selection of sides in this regard. These include ratatouille, cauliflower gratin, potato gratin, and more. The Avocado tartine looks good. I've had their truffle risotto and it's really good. This was an awesome experience from the time we entered to the time we left. We were waiting for our flights and then they were both cancelled and we were able to enjoy the good vibes on a Thursday night. They had happy hour and live music and the staff was extremely amazing even Jean. I had the Ratatouille Salmon and my partner had the Seafood Pasta and we both cleaned out plates. This was a great choice for dinner and their appetizers were really good as well. If you are ever in Harlem this place is definitely a vibe. read more

This was a really excellent dinner! All of the food was delicious, fresh and tasty. Great atmosphere/vibe. Menus were inserted into old vinyl albums! $5 happy hour drinks at the bar (not in the dining room). Service was pretty good, except that ALL of the food (appetizers and entrees) came out all at once. The table got so crowded that there was no room to put the food. We sent the food back to the kitchen hoping it would not be cold by the time we were ready for the entrees. But I have to say, besides this one glitch, service was really good. They even graciously took back one order of Steak Tartare because we ordered too many. Oh! I came here when you couldn't do indoor dining in NYC and it was February so COLD. However, despite the craziness (snow on the ground and a rat making an appearance which freaked out this woman sitting a bit of a distance from us; i don't blame her since after I saw it run by, it also bothered me) the staff worked very hard and the food was good. Stopped off serendipitously at this bistro on a road trip that took us through New York. Traditional French fare - we enjoyed French onion soup, Poulet Ratatouille sandwich and Hanger steak. If I could give this negative stars I would. As someone that works in restaurants all over the world, I HAVE NEVER received such terrible service that I got up and left. Not only did we wait for someone to acknowledge us for 30 minutes, when we said we would prefer to get just a dessert to go (the ambiance was AWFUL, raggaeton dance music for a French spot? Wow) the server told ME TO GO TELL A COUPLE THEIR TABLE WAS READY AND I ESCORTED THEM TO THEIR TABLE. When I got home, the "creme brûlée" was a joke. The size of a dollar coin (creme brûlée is a large circle normally) and had strawberries on it in a plastic container, two bites worth. Do NOT go here. There -- my review is complete! :-) But seriously, I stumbled upon Maison Harlem (the locals just call it Maison) recently at the advice of one of my chic-est girlfriends, and I could LITERALLY dine here every day. Did I ever tell about that time I had cassoulet in a cave, in Toulouse...) The delicious bread even. The cassoulet was pretty good: generous portions of the meats, a delicious bean base, maybe a bit overcooked for my taste, but that's a quibble. My wife and our friend both got the duck confit, and it looked good tho I stuck to my cassoulet to tell you the truth. The space is sooooooooo pretty with posters and a windowed kitchen that wowed me with fab food, the nicest and accomodating service and a great meeting spot in Harlem. Ate: Soup of the day- cream of mushroom soup- $7.75 Risotto with mushrooms & veggies and a balsamic glaze- $16 I went with the mushroom theme for dinner. The creamy, hearty soup was delish...especially with the hot bread and butter. .....The risotto- creamy, cheesy, with carrots, mushrooms, and the spot on balsamic glaze was simply wicked. Let me tell y'all something.. ordering mussels as takeout sounds like risky business (will they be cold? Chewy? Spilled all over?). By I did anyways. And they were absolutely AMAZING! Maisons mussels Mariniere arrived HOT, in a huge container tightly Saran wrapped so not a single drop of the amazing white wine sauce leaked AND they sent me an additional smaller (really an actual normal size takeout container) with more mussels AND a large salad with bread and fries. Oh and they showed up within 30 min (and I do not live next door), which was way before the estimated 60 min delivery. Also ordered potato gratin but they sent me mashed potatoes instead (not even mad because it was delicious and creamy and I don't really discriminate my potato masterpieces). Did not expect to get all this for $25! The mussels were just as good or even better than ones I've had IN restaurants. Will be ordering again and try and stop into the actual restaurant some time! read more

The manager was really a disappointment considering from the time I arrived, my whole presence was an inconvenience to him. I even had a reservation, it was for one but I respected the establishment that I do long enough to make one! The manager really needs to remember that it is not bad to greet, seat and check in on a customer. We had a Saturday night reservation and were promptly seated right when we arrived, even though we were a little earlier than our reservation time. The tables are very close together - so close that we had to move our plates and chairs a few times for other people to get in/out of their tables - and there is no air conditioning so it gets very warm inside very quickly. Our server was Leonella and she was excellent. The decor is a little funky, and the menus were made out of old album covers. The food tasted good and came out from the kitchen quickly, but unfortunately is pretty overpriced for what it is and for the serving size. A salad and a cheeseburger with one side of veggies cost us $52 (before tip). read more

For authentic and tasty French cuisine I love this place. Unfortunately when were came they were extremely busy (great sign)? So the service was a little slow. I may have just been a little hangry but overall it was a great experience. The escargot was amazing. My family all tried done and not everyone was into it. But I loved it. I give this place 2 stars because it's a cute little spot...I mean like really little & 1 just because they get one by default. But honestly I don't love it. I get why it's a hotspot and it always pretty busy bc honestly there's not much to decide over it. It's in a location around fast food joints and junkies on 125th. The staff is kinda cool and kinda rude. I used to pop in for coffee after I'd drop my son off at school so by 8:30 I'd be there then all of a sudden it was sorry no coffee until 9:30 and they'd expect u to sit ur ass outside and wait. No thanks, I'm not in a good bank line where I'm waiting on free shit. And your coffee isn't worth the wait. At all. I've also been here for happy hour and we've chowed on oysters (well not me but my friends) and the wine was aiiiiight nothing I'd run back over for. But a good price at $5 a glass. read more
