Cute new French pastry house located off Broadway. Looks to be family owned. Very friendly greeting from all staff. I went in on a Tuesday morning around 9:30/10:00am and there was still a good amount of desserts! The owner helped pick out the selections behind the glass counter while the girls ran the croissants and register. I selected an assortment of desserts to try a bit of everything. Ordered the croissant and chocolate croissant which were soft and buttery with the outside being crunchy and flaky. My only complaint was the plain croissant was a little doughy on the inside. My main agenda was the Trompe l'Oeil (Trick of the Eye -- Fruit-Shaped Pastries)! They had so many different options online but I opted to try 3 - raspberry, mango, and peach. Our favorites were in that order. They are all very delicious but the raspberry flavor stood out the most. The chocolate shell was different but added a nice texture to the soft mousse filling and fruit purée. Would definitely go back to try the other fruits and flavors. I'm not a huge cake person but the owner suggested to try the Opéra -Coffee & chocolate layered cake, and it was very good! Reminded me of Tiramisu. You just need a cup of coffee! It's a little hole-in-the-wall (which are the best hidden gems) with a little parking lot in front. I personally really like this as many bakeries in town are street-parking or in very busy neighborhoods where parking is tight. read more

Sadly, this wasn't good for me. The almond pastry was pretty but flavor was just okay, it's sorta a dry cookie like texture with straight almond flavor. I was pretty disappointed in the peach tromp l'oeil. I think the mousse wasn't quite right (and I wish I'd read another review first which said they thought it was curdled, now I'm nervous for my stomach). It was $9, which I get from the labor that goes into these but would definitely not order again. There are a few tables inside, but it doesn't really have any charm so we took ours to go. I saw photos from this bakery and knew I needed to try it post haste! I have been wanting to try the fruit shaped mousse pastry things since I first saw a social media post featuring them on Instagram. Unfortunately Denver is seemingly the last big city to pick up on trendy food so I couldn't find them anywhere... until now! I got a plain croissant and it was one of the best croissants I've had in years. Flaky, but not so overly laminated that it crumbles or shatters everywhere when you bite it. The interior was soft and buttery. I will 100% go back for a plain croissant- I think they were $3.75. As for the fruit mousse pastry things. They were a little disappointing. At $9 a pop they were pretty small. The peach one was so cute and I had high hopes for it, but it lacked any discernible peach flavor and the mousse was curdled. The mango was a notch better with a hint of mango flavor, but also tasted like banana? The chocolate one had the best texture but it could have been a been sweeter. I've definitely had better chocolate mousse. My favorite of the four we tried was the raspberry because it actually tasted like raspberry, although I still wasn't blown away. My 7yo did say the outer coating on each pastry was "so satisfying" to break into, and I agree. This place is more like 3.5 stars for me, I'm happy they are trying something new and their croissants were an unexpected star! Simply beautifully executed and perfectly constructed. They had apple, mango, pear, peach and raspberry. They were truly perfection. The croissants were OK but not amazing. They have a filling station with different cremes that you can insert into the croissant. It did not happen to be working/or was unfilled on the day that we went. It was a bit disappointing. Located in a strip mall with decent parking. Tables and chairs inside haphazardly arranged. It would also be nice if they could have prices listed next to the items. read more

This is a brand spanking new bakery that knows what they're doing. The fruit illusion tarts are insanely good, and their croissants are out of control. Best I've had outside of Paris. If you want anything resembling a good variety, be there at 8 am sharp. There was a stiff line outside when I arrived at 8:04 am, and I got some of the last of several items. For those complaining that they weren't open at 4 PM, refamiliarize yourself with supply and demand and then show up at opening next time. I'll give this great family a few months to figure out how to scale up, but even if they figure nothing out, I will still happily show up before opening to get the metro's best pastries and croissants. I only give 5 stars to a truly special meal restaurants- formal service and top notch food - but in the informal type setting that I his is - the his would be a 5 stars in that category The fruits/pastries were realistic looking and out of this world tasting. This visit we had the raspberry - which was the hands down winner so far, and the cocoa bean which was extremely good too. I just returned from an outing to Maison Shelby, where I brought a group to experience this 8-day-old French pastry cafe. There was a line, and although there were beautiful marble tables and comfortable chairs, most people were taking things to go. The shelves were almost empty, and we arrived at about 8:30 AM, and they open at 8 AM. The servers were working as fast as possible and were helpful. The croissants were delicious plain, or you can fill them with pistachio or hazelnut cream. That was so much fun! We wanted coffee with our pastries, but their machine was not working. Coffee needs to be a priority. The water dispenser was empty, but they brought us iced water in beautiful glasses. The oval-shaped cardamom pastry was unique, crunchy, and very good. We tried two cakes, one with something crunchy on top and one with caramel. Both were underwhelming. Since they are open only 8 days, I will give them 6 months and return to try what I hope will be a larger variety of pastries as shown on their social media accounts. I will update this review when I return. Parking is plentiful in the lot in front. The noise level is low. read more

Stopped for a sweet treat today expecting a French patisserie. What I experienced was far from it. Empty, unkept shelving. Old signage for products they no longer had. No pricing for the 3-4 items they did have scattered throughout. Lighting in the case was rather dim. In front of me there were 2 customers in queue. No associates visible. One was apparently in the back filling croissants. After 5 min another man showed up with little to no sense of urgency to help, no mention of "hi, sorry for the wait, what can I get you?". Clean up your display case, consolidate items, discard of old / unused signage, get rid of unused empty trays. The 2 different millefeuilles and the mocha (?) roulade looked good. I'll try this business at a later time in hopes of a more appealing experience. But if they're going to operate like this, good luck. I'd rather drive 30-40 min to Paris Baguette in Parker for a French patisserie experience. read more

I should've taken a before photo because these pastries were so beautiful. The first one I tried was the mango. It's white chocolate with mango mousse and pure inside. The crunch of the white chocolate shell was iconic and the mango flavor was perfect. Juicy but not overbearing or artificial. The second I tried was the raspberry, it didn't have the crunch I wanted but it was also such an amazing flavor. True raspberry with a tart bite not overly sweet. I love that these don't have cake inside of them. They are just the mousse and compote filling! The final treat I indulged in stole the show. It was a pistachio tiramisu. It was a light consistency and the flavor was out of this world. Nutty and slightly sweet, but not too sweet to eat. Very natural pistachio flavor, not an extract. TERRIBLE! The service was awful as well as the pastries. When I asked for help they ignored me. Didn't have any tongs to pick up the croissant with didn't help you figure out how to put the filling into the croissants. The fruit pastries were melted, and worst of all the girl at the counter was very rude and had a horrible attitude. I spent almost $30 on three things. Don't waste your time or your money. I had a really frustrating experience with this pastry shop. According to their posted hours, they were supposed to be open, but they closed an entire hour early for no clear reason. We arrived excited to try their pastries, only to find the place already shut down. What made it worse was that we actually saw the owner inside as we were approaching, and instead of acknowledging us or explaining anything, they just walked out and left before we could even try to open the door. It felt dismissive and unprofessional. I understand that things come up, but closing early without notice--and then ignoring potential customers--is not a good look.
