I had booked the Sunset Mai Tai Sail with my partner. Overall our experience was 10/10! The Sheraton hotel workers were knowledgeable enough to guide us to the right location. The price was worth the trip since there was all you can drink beer, mai tai, seltzers and nonalcoholic drinks. The views were great, vibes were chill, and workers were cool. There was a clean and small restroom onboard. They offer a photo with your group with the boat prior to the ride and sell the print of it at the end of the trip. There was plenty of room for everyone to sit and move around. They accept cash or venmo as tips. Highly recommend and will be coming back! read more

This was so much fun! We had been to Waikiki in December and we noticed all the boats parked or out in the water. It looked really fun. So when we decided to come back to Oahu, I looked for some options. Maita'i catamaran had a groupon so it was a no brainer. Booked and off we went! The boat had reduced capacity due to covid so we were able to spread out and really enjoy the ride while still feeling safe. The staff had the perfect kind of energy and they were just fun to be around. They mentioned that they had one of the best Maita'i and they did not disappoint. They make them fresh every day and are only $5 each. Throughout our trip I tried maitais everywhere - cheap ones, expensive ones and everything in between. This one was probably the cheapest and one of the tastiests. We did not see any whales or other animals throughout our ride, which is something that often happens. But it was still one of the most enjoyable experiences in the island. I will definitely be back! read more

Wonderful little boat tour. I am always a fan of cocktail cruises so I am already bias to loving this however, the crew was awesome with great music and the girl specifically was really in good spirits keeping the energy fun and high :) They had all the groups sit in their own sections, due to COVID but with the boat path pattern every seat is a good seat with views. Great experience with friends! I highly recommend this fun, chill, catamaran ride. We parked at Royal Hawaiian and walked over to Sheraton. After the catamaran ride, you can go to Cheesecake Factory for lunch and they'll validate your ticket. Just a heads up, if you do park at Royal Hawaiian, **for the first 2 hours it's $2, but AFTER, it's $2 every 30 mins!** Anyways, back to the review- meeting spot in at the back of Sheraton Hotel. Big black boat with green sails, you won't miss it. Check in, they'll take your pics with the boat, then hop on! Crew was really nice, and funny. You're able to walk around the boat, and take pics/ mingle with everyone. **Bring cash** if you want to purchase some alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. Kids are also welcome on the catamaran ride. They also have juice for them! The bathroom tho, is a bit tiny and crammed. So make sure you urinate before going on the boat if you don't want to use a tight restroom. We got splashed quite often because it was a bit windy, and there were a few rough parts, but no complaints here! This group is absolutely the best! To begin with we had a slight confusion with our Groupon our friends purchased before coming to island. The staff here worked through and was able to resolve the issue for us which saved us from a major panic! The ride is excellent! The views are amazing! Our captain, whose name escapes me right now, was wonderful at pointing out sea life as they saw it and pointing out places on the Waikiki shoreline. Then, as if the trip alone wasn't cool enough, they have the MOST delicious Mai Tai ON TAP and they are very well priced!! Don't forget to bring cash for this! We had a GREAT time on the catamaran for the Sunset cruise. The whole point is to get out on the water and see diamond head and Waikiki from a different view with a few drinks in hand. Drinks were plentiful. The bartender was chatty and charismatic. TIPS: 1) If you sit in the front or close to the sides, you will get wet- like very wet! We sat in the front with our feet towards the netting, and the two people closest to the starboard side were soaked from waist down after a few good swells. 2) If you get motion sick, either take motion sickness medication or don't come. The ride is not very smooth and is very dependent on sea state. 3) If staying in Waikiki for dinner, make reservations for 7:30 (if you are a fast walker, or 7:45 if you need more time.) Without reservations, Waikiki is so busy that it takes a while to get a table somewhere good! Also bring a change of clothes if you're going somewhere nicer. (Bag storage was dry and inside the middle seats. Could fit a normal sized backpack.) read more

Spent the week on Oahu doing a lot of the tourist stuff and surprisingly, this was the most satisfying. We took the nighttime fireworks cruise (90 minutes) and had a blast. I can see why people fall in love with the sea and Cats. I think we had an unusually smooth ride. The waves were not choppy at all and no one got wet as we were gliding along with a cool wind to our faces, staring at the Honolulu coastline and skyline. Didn't even have to think - EASY FIVE stars for the Maitai Catamaran. I did the sunset sail that included unlimited Mai Tais. Definitely worth the $49 I paid. This was the favorite thing I did while in Oahu. We booked only a few days in advance. The online calendar lets you know how many seats are left so you can plan accordingly. Boarding was simple and the location was easy to find. Well I might have cheated a little bit because I saw the catamaran earlier that day when I went to the beach. I went with a group of 8. There was already a long line when we got there, and we got in it. Lady was at the front checking us in from a clipboard. Upon checkin, they took a group picture before boarding the catamaran. I'm not sure how much it cost to buy the picture after we deplaned, because I had to run to the bathroom!!! But I saw the picture afterward and it was cute. Since we had a group of 8 and we were near the back of the line, there weren't 8 seats together once we boarded. We split up around the catamaran - it's small so we could still sort of see each other. Behind the seats you could store your shoes and under things. I'm not sure why this is a shoeless adventure. Maybe because you get wet but I would be fine wearing flip flops and getting it wet. The shoeless part of the sunset sail kind of deterred me away from going with Maitai Catamaran but it had the best price & location for me. They ID's us young-lookin' folks before we started sailing. Went over some ground rules, and I was pleased to hear that we were free to roam around the boat and didn't have to stay seated after we were a bit further out from land. Great tunes (island music AND pop music - Bruno Mars and Ariana Grande!!), great hosts, and we tipped accordingly! I love being on boats and I love drinking. The Mai Tais were delish, and the supply never ran out. There were also coca colas and some champagne and some beer. I drank my first mai tai so quickly that they added more champagne to my second one. That definitely slowed me down because of the fizz! But I went ham anyway. They also passed around a bag of bags of chips. Yum! The sunset was beautiful. We got to see a whale. OK I didn't see it but others did. We pretty much just floated around the water and went in circles with the Oahu skyline. But it worked for me. Bathroom on board is a funny one. I had to go one time. This is when the shoeless part really gets weird?? I really had to go since I drank so much. It's a ladder down straight to the toilet. I mean, it was clean, just very small and I only went because I couldn't hold it anymore. Ran to find a bathroom after we deboarded and lost all my friends in the process. Celebrated our Anniversary and our first time in Waikiki, this experience is definitely a must do. We enjoyed every minute of it and the service was outstanding. From the 2 gals at the check in counter who were very caring and to the 2 gentlemen who did the actual Catamaran tour, i couldn't be more thankful for their service. The 2 guys who did the tour were very friendly, accomodating and so knowledgable, it made us feel safe during the whole experience and the maitai drinks were fun and delicious as well. Sunset cruise was amazing! Such a great value! I took the sunset cruise (5pm) and loved it so much I went again the same week. Let me start by telling you the staff is wonderful. They really wanna get to know the tourists, they enjoy hearing stories about where I'm from, and enjoy telling us how long they have lived in Hawaii and where from. Steff, the receptionist was especially intrigued w my long life story. Great active listening skills. And the crew on board was even more attentive; they had incredible jokes, a banger soundtrack, and quick w all the drinks. Ian, Dustin, Ryan and Kia were a fun and enthusiastic team that even incorporated local surfers into the mix by calling out there names. In fact, another ship even mooned us! Ahh the hijinks. Sunset was spectacular, drinks were always available, and they picked the right songs for the voyage. Make sure you are courteous and tip WELL ($20-$50) as they deserve $ whether your drink or not. Yelp reviewers win again! The Maita'i Catamaran is the hands down one of the BEST things we did on our vacation and BY FAR the cheapest at only $19.50 a person (purchased on Groupon)! We opted for the 11 AM tour and the seas were good to us! We saw a couple of sea turtles and pairs of dolphins that put on quite a show. In addition the scenery is amazing and staff is super knowledgeable about the area, answering several questions. While I didn't have a Maitai, a family member did and they said they were tasty! We traveled with a party of 9 ages 10 through 71. We all had a fabulous time! As other reviewers suggested, we wore hats, sunscreen and clothing we didn't mind getting wet.
