I first found MAS Major Appliance Service (Carlos = the owner/operator) when I had a Home Warranty after buying my home a decade ago and the Home Warranty company sent him out. I thought he did a great job back then fixing my dishwasher so I got his business card and since then over the past decade I always call Carlos when I have an appliance that needs fixed. He has fixed my washing machine, my gas range (2 times!), my oven and my dishwasher. I am always 100% happy with his great service getting my appliances working again! Carlos also installs new appliances! BEST TIP: Ask Carlos which appliances he services THE LEAST since that means those brands are the most reliable! This is what I did for a new dishwasher and the dishwasher I got has lasted me YEARS longer than my prior 2 dishwashers (this is my third in the same house and the first 2 dishwashers needed repairs constantly). I just now contacted Carlos again to see if he'd repair my garbage disposal and even though that isn't a "major appliance" he does garbage disposals too. It turns out he doesn't but he did give me a referral to a plumber who could do it for me. Every time I contact Carlos he is friendly and helpful! We set up an appointment with Carlos about 10 days in advance. Took time off and got things prepped for him - he did not show up. When we called he said he forgot to transfer his notes to his appointment book and thus had to reschedule for the following week. Told us we would now be 'VIP' clients and he would take very good care of us. Well, 45 minutes before he was supposed to arrive for appointment #2 (basically about when he should already be on the way) Carlos called and said now he has gout and was instead sending some guy named OJ who would be at least 3 hours late. Just thought I would share my recent home warranty experience. Had a few issues with my GE fridge so I called my home warranty company to set up a service call. The main gentlemen of this company comes out and is here for about 15 mins. The reason I reach out to my warranty was my large drawer handle was lose and coming off. The fridge was not sealing all the way and showing when the doors were closed they were still open as well as out two shelves that had drawers were broke. Of course when he got here it was sealing again(fine whatever). He then proceeds to tell me that the handle was stripped which is why it can't be tightened. He says about the drawers that it is a common thing that happens and he will also send in that the gasket should be replaced. Great sounds good. So a week goes by I hear nothing call home warranty they say they never got his report. I call him right after he says oh sorry I forgot I will send now. Which right there what are you doing. Another two weeks go by I get an email from home warranty saying not only are they not covering the fridge but because this guy said damages was not from normal wear and tear now my whole fridge is not covered until I fix what he reported. Call this guy from back asking him why he sent a report in stating that damages was not done by wear and tear. I asked him all we do is use the fridge and these things happened. Isn't that the definition of wear and tear. He said, you put to much stuff in the drawers that's why they broke as if he knows what was in them and the handle he said I tried to fix it and should have left it to the professionals to fix it. Also the gasket is fine and also leaking is occuring even though ants are getting into it. So unprofessional and now I have to sort this out because of his mislead information.. Carlos at Major Appliance Service is extremely knowledgeable about every brand and model I've had him repair (this includes everything from Miele dishwashers, Thermador refrigerators, ranges and ovens and Kitchenaide appliances too. On my last repair he was $200 less (parts and labor) than another company quoted to replace the mullion flipper(that had rusted) and gaskets (that had mildew stains) on a French door refrigerator. Best of all- he told me about the humidity button that need to be set to "on" to prevent these issues when the other company didn't even notice that it was off. Had I not used Carlos, the problem would have repeated again! I can't recommend him enough. read more

Carlos came to repair my Samsung which after reviewing the issue was just dirt on the coil as per Carlos. He said for another $65 on top of the visit charge he can clean it. He removed the dirt and checked to see if fan was running and said give it 12 hours and it will work. 12 hours came and went and frig never got cold, I tried to reach out to Carlos and he never responded. I was taken for a quick $200 and I kinda had a feeling I was being taken while he was cleaning the coils. He never checked anything else on the frig except the error codes. I have used Major Appliance Services (MAS) twice and I could not be happier with the service provided by Carlos. He is very responsive when I call for service, he makes an appointment and comes on time, and most of all does excellent service! Example. My dryer was broke. He came, diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and was back in two days, again right on time. When he replaced the part, he took the time to vacuum out the whole inside of the mechanical portion of the dryer and lubricated the appropriate components. We had a problem with the defrost drain freezing over on our Samsung refrigerator. I looked up the problem and it was very common for our model, as the stock defrost pin on the machine is very flimsy. I called and spoke with Carlos I believe. I asked specifically on the phone for them to not just clear the defrost line, but to also replace the part with the more study replacement part, and explicitly told them to bring the ($6) replacement part on the service call. He assured me that that part would be replaced. I also left a detailed note for the repair man asking for the part to be replaced and leaving all the specs and part number (my roommate was home for the repair as I was at work). Four months later we start having the same problem. I open up the panel on the fridge to find that the part had not been replaced. I called and asked why it was not replaced and they gave me some excuse about how the manufacture recommends the first time this problem happens they only unclog the line and then the second time it happens they replace it (even though this is an extremely common problem on our model). If a customer specifically calls you out to replace something and you go against what they ask only to have the part need to be replaced in a few months that is a huge problem for me. We paid $189 for them to not do what we asked for (all I wanted was for a $6 part to be replaced). I was appalled at their customer service and disappointed when they did noting to rectify the situation on the phone. While the serviceman was nice, this is a company that you cannot trust to address your actual problems. In my opinion, it seems like a shady way to have your customers just have to call you again in a few months and pay another $189 service fee. I would only trust them if you knew what needed to be fixed and supervised the entire repair, but at that point you can just do it yourself. read more

My KitchenAid dishwasher went out on Mother's Day. Carlos came out the next day to fix it. He found the problem ordered the part and came back 2 days later to install. It sounded fine to me but he took the time to test it through to the second cycle and luckily he did because he found another issue he couldn't repair himself. After 2 visits to my house he said he couldn't fix it told me the issue and suggested I call the manufacturer to remedy the situation then gave me my service fee check back that I paid 2 days prior. Said it was part of the job, if he can't fix it he wouldn't charge me a service fee. Not many business would do that and I appreciated greatly. Honest and reliable.
