I was told by the Honda dealership that I needed a new clutch. I didn't want to pay $4K plus that the dealership was quoting so I checked around. The price should have been under $2K. I took the car to Major to have it evaluated and I don't even need a new clutch. Everything checked out fine. I know this place gets good reviews, and this was the only place I would take my car in the past. However, I found out that they significantly mark up their parts so the service will appear cheaper than it actually is. So much so, that the generic part I purchased from them cost more than the OEM version would have cost. Additionally, I found out they get a discount on the parts as well. If memory serves, the part was more than double the non-discounted cost (and this was quoted directly from their supplier). What was truly shady about the whole thing was that they originally claimed there was no markup, and they even went so far as to point out how reasonable their prices were (this was before I discovered their deception). Anyway, I can see from the reviews that this tactic has worked well for them, but it's shady as hell and therefore I cannot recommend them anymore. read more

After dealing with the Driver's Edge out of control upsell a few times, then the dealership keeping my little SUV for 11 days before they could even tell me why the engine light was on, I drove from one side of Plano to the other to Major Automotive for an electrical issue with my Lincoln MKC. This crew found the problem, fixed it at a very reasonable price and didn't try to sell me shocks, wiper blades, brakes, tires, filters and motor mounts. They just fixed the problem and let me know it was ready. It's a pretty good drive over there and I have to Uber back home, but it's worth the time and effort to simply get my car fixed when something goes wrong without dealing with all the other nonsense. Called about replacing a transmission and they were either just being rude and playing with me or genuinely overcharged their customers. Said 10k for a new transmission and then 2k for labor. If you don't do transmissions just say that. Do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Words cannot describe how blown away I am by the service and professionalism I received from Major Automotive. From the start Dustin was very friendly and explained everything to me. There was no fluffing or extra work recommended that my car didn't actually need and they were very transparent on cost, labor, parts, and options I had if I wanted to go OE or A/M which I loved! They had a quick response time to any of my reach outs and also finished my vehicle on the day they promised it which to me is a huge deal considering I work in the automotive industry and constantly see shops promise too much and deliver too little. They also went above and beyond by cleaning up my engine bay and it looks phenomenal which is something they didn't have to do. Dustin also let me know of some rodent damage they found and made sure there wasn't any residual issues from the little furry jerks which is one more thing Major Automotive didn't have to do but did. While I never want to have to get another large repair done on my vehicle, I know exactly where I'll be taking it if I do, which is here! I have a truck that has been pretty abused. It has several issues that I wanted assessed to determine whether it was worth repairing. The guys at Major Automotive took it in, found extensive issues with the engine and transmission, called and discussed the extent of the problem and I decided to abandon having it repaired. For less than $200 and in and out in 24 hours they checked out all my major systems, including dropping the transmission pan and finding the fluid burnt and gritty and explained that based on my criteria this old gal was ready to be put out to pasture. Very communicative. Very thorough and no throwing parts at a lost cause. They even asked my permission to put the old transmission fluid back in it because the condition didn't warrant any further expenditure. THANKS GUYS!! These guys are awesome! I spent about an hour looking for someone to install used tires on my vehicle, I called about 7 different tire shops and non of them would do it. I called Josh at Major Automotive and he said no problem. They installed the tires, did a full alignment, and state inspection for a very reasonable price. I had an appointment at 4:30, but was delayed 15 minutes due to an accident. These guys stayed an extra 30 minutes after close to finish the job. Josh explained everything that they did. I needed a repair on my car and decided to bring it to Heller based on a prior experience with them (for a vehicle inspection). I've only visited Major Automotive so far for oil changes, inspections, and tire checks, but from my experience so far, I will definitely go back to them for any larger/major repairs I need. All the interactions with different employees have been respectful, friendly, and professional. They seem like a great team that works well together, very communicative. Each time I've been there, they've also checked my tires, even though I never asked. They also try to put the driver seat back to the original position.
