We really enjoyed this steakhouse! They have ample parking and an old school steakhouse ambiance with red leather booths, which were comfortable. They were also kind about our last minute reservation change due to babysitting issues. They start you with free pickles but give bread too if you ask also for free. We tried the Merlot which we both enjoyed. We then split the French onion soup which was salty but otherwise very good particularly the cheese. I got the petite marinated skirt steak which was about 7 oz and comes with peppers. Very good! Juicy and flavorful. My husband got the NY sirloin which was smoky and cooked a perfect medium rare. The steaks come with a choice of potato and we both got the mashed potatoes. They were good but not great. Not as garlicky or as flavorful as I was hoping. Then we were seated in the back corner by the kitchen. What followed was a parade of waitstaff bumping into me as they came and went, and an uncomfortable chair that made the meal harder to enjoy than it should have been. Location matters, and this one was a miss. The menu is focused -- if you're a steak purist, you'll appreciate the no-nonsense approach. If you're not, you may find yourself with limited options. The French onion soup to start was disappointing: overly salty and not the warm, rich opener a steakhouse should nail. Our table had mixed results with the mains too -- the ribs came out dry, and the skirt steak was so heavily marinated that the meat itself got lost entirely. That said, my ribeye was the bright spot of the evening -- cooked exactly as requested with a beautiful crust. When they get it right, they really get it right. Awful! Just awful! We were really up for a good steak and this place had 4.5 stars so we took a chance and made a reservation through open table. The greeting staff was great, friendly and accommodating. The food was just awful. -Complementary pickles and bread were just ok. We like sour pickles and these were not. -Wings were undercooked -Signature salad was overloaded with bacon and the dressing was boring. -Filet mignon was tasteless. Saturday, July 4th, and service and food were excellent. I enjoyed a Rib and Grillled Shrimp special. Ribs were sauced perfectly and extremely tasty. My better half enjoyed a delicious marinated 14 oz Skirtsteak which made for great leftovers to take home. Not a meat eater? There were some excellent seafood choices on the regular menu as well as the daily specials selection. By the way the Hash Browns are a winner. No room for dessert. I was in the mood for a nice juicy primerib and saw it on Major's menu so I decided to give it try. We started with the Caesar salad and tomato/ mozzarella, both were decent, but nothing special. My buddy and I both ordered the 16 oz primerib which is what we came for. I asked for a center cut as I prefer my meat on the rarer side. I got pretty excited as it arrived on the table as I asked. Perhaps my expectation was too high as I couldn't chew 1/2 of the primerib, it was tough. Bryant & Cooper and Luger are my go to steakhouses that I enjoy. This place has an old fashion vibe to it with a lot of historic photos. At this restaurant they start you off with half and full sour pickles instead of bread. Ceasar salad- Even though it was not the biggest portion, it packed a lot of flavor. The richness of the anchovies in the dressing was not something I expect to compliment the salad so much. The croutons were seasoned and buttery with a nice crunch that helped with additional texture. Major's Classic Cheeseburger- The burger itself was very juicy with a nice sear. The fries were soggy and did not have any seasoning. I would suggest a different type of side besides fries if possible. Homemade Mashed Potatoes- Was pretty much what you expected with bits of potatoes. Creamed Spinach- This side was definitely my favorite out of the 2. It had a perfect amount of seasoning with richness to compliment the steak. Porterhouse for 2- Majority of the steak was cooked to medium-medium well even though we ordered it medium-rare. The seasoning was lacking while the temperature was on the colder side. NY Style Cheesecake(Strawberry)- It was a nice and rich slice of cheesecake that was drizzled with strawberries and syrup. Tartufo- The biggest surprise for me since I do not usually order anything chocolate. A multi layered dessert that surprised me with each bite from the chocolate cover, all the way to the cherry center. Overall I was disappointed with the steak since it is a steakhouse but was surprised by the dessert and creamed spinach the most in a good way. My FIL and BIL love this place so we've come here several times for birthdays. When I think of a steakhouse, I think of top notch cuts that are flavorful. I've gotten a few different things off the menu and all were devoid of flavor. Some of the blandest steaks I've ever had. When we went last week, a few of us got burgers. All tasteless. So, this place has made some positive improvements in the food and service. I returned after a few years. I like to sit at the bar, and the service and bartenders never disappoint, very attentive. Drinks are always very well served. The location has that old steak house vibe to it. My go to is the Majors ribeye, came out at the perfect temperature and was very good. Some majors steak sauce and it is good to go with fries. We also did try the cheesy garlic bread, I would hold off on that, leave room for your steak. My husband and I went to Majors for dinner. We had been there before and loved it. However, this time we had a disappointing experience and will not be returning. Our waiter came to take our order and never even introduced himself to us. He asked us what we wanted to drink and we said water with lemon. He brought the water but no lemon. We reminded him and he brought one piece of lemon for the two of us. My husband ordered steak cooked medium and home fries. The home fries were totally burnt and blackened. He showed the waiter and asked for the home fries to be replaced with new ones. The waiter told him to pick out any good ones so just eat those. My husband no please bring me a new order of home fries. The waiter kept arguing with him. We called over the manager and showed him. He agreed they needed to be replaced. He told my husband to cut into his steak to make sure it was cooked medium . It was cooked well done. He took the plate to have it done correctly. A few more things happened but the ultimate thing that happened was when the bill came we used a gift card and paid part of it in cash too. We should have received change but the waiter kept it. We told the manager and he said , "with the poor service you received this just adds insult to injury". I decided to write a letter to the owners, The Poll Brothers, and My husband hand delivered to them at their corporate office. That was two weeks ago and I have not received any response from them or their office. This is totally unacceptable to Me. They lost us as customers. read more

Tried this place as per recommendation from a family friend and was very content of how the food came out! I would rate this as a more affordable Peter Lugers / insignia porterhouse steak. I got a porterhouse medium and medium well and both were cooked to the expected respective temperatures. Another great thing is that each steak comes with an individual side. I would recommend the French fries over the other sides. When ordering the tuna I would advise against the wasabi mashed potatoes. It tastes kinda like the wasabi peas snack but without the salt or texture. Also the restaurant does not take reservations so try to come on a week night as it can be a long wait. In addition to the main level they have an upstairs which is very cool. Our waiter Daniel was superb. he made great recommendations and was very attentive. We shared the fried calamari which was crispy and not oily. And we shared the porterhouse for two which came with two side dishes.Besides being a little undercooked to our liking( we had to send it back for re fire ) it was very good. . One of my favorite local spots on Long Island for steak! Everyone's always so nice and the food is just always so damn good. Perfectly marinated and charred it's an awesome bite every time. The wings are nice and crispy and juicy in one bite and comes with the sauce and bleu cheese on the side. The clams are lathered and that delicious wine sauce. My husband and I came for dinner on Saturday night. We arrived early and were very glad about that, because it gets really busy. We haven't been to a Major's in a while and we're happy we came. They served us a pickle bowl when we were seated. We passed on appetizers and went straight for dinner. My husband ordered a Major's rib eye steak. It was cooked perfectly for him; it had that great charred flavor and it was a nice portion. He absolutely loved it. I ordered swordfish, which I think was a special. It also had that great charred flavor. There was chopped onion and tomatoes on top of the fish. It was delicious. It was a little on the thin side. I wish it was a little thicker, but I totally enjoyed it. We both order a baked potato on the side. They were both a great size, cooked perfect and was served with butter and sour cream on the side. The prices on these dishes were a great value. Our service was terrific, and as we watched food passing by being served to other customers, it all looked very appetizing. Absolutely delicious! Service was incredible and the place was quiet because the dishes were that delectable. The tartufo was excellent. The creamed spinach was so delicious. There wasn't a single plate that wasn't empty on our table or the tables around us for that matter. It's a nice place with nostalgic pictures and an intimate setting. There is a dining room upstairs as well. We sat downstairs and there was an open kitchen - which I love. If I'm ever in the Long Island neighborhood with some carnivores, I'd definitely come back.
