The Homestead has become our annual spot for celebrating my dad's birthday and a belated Mother's Day with my mom and grandma. Each time we've come we've been taken great care of. Lisa the bartender and Katie our waitress go above and beyond to make the experience special and make sure we have everything we need to fully enjoy our meals. The interior of this restaurant features an expansive bar with plenty of tables, plus a private party room. Ample parking here is appreciated as well -- hard to come by in the town of Oyster Bay! The menu features elevated pub fare and includes all the staples (think wings, a giant pretzel, plus burgers and sandwiches) along with seafood and steak options if you're in the mood for something a bit fancier. This year we started off with drinks at the bar - my Moscow mule was ice cold and served in a copper mug. Next, we moved on to appetizers. The fried calamari was crispy and fresh, the baked clams were cooked perfectly and served in an incredible sauce that we lapped up with their signature garlic bread (a must order!). The pretzel was warm and fluffy, the tuna tower was fresh and invigorating. The lobster bisque is another must try - served in a fancy bowl with a lid to keep it piping hot. The wedge salad has just the right amount of toppings to lettuce ratio. I was stuffed at this point, but was happy to have half of my French Dip sandwich with impeccably seasoned fries waiting for me the in the refrigerator next morning (had one Moscow mule too many, they were too good). read more

Horrible set up: handicapped parking is in the back, but the back entrance has stairs. The only alleyway is too narrow for a wheelchair. We had to walk way around and even the main entrance is almost too small for a wheelchair. Horrible supply: asked for a few different drinks and they had no supplies to make them. Terrible food: was there for a funeral after gathering, only 4 food items, they were cold, no regular soda, the server behind the buffet basically "slopped" it onto the plates in small messy portions. read more

First time in the area. Heard a few great things about this place so we decided to stop by for lunch. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside is beautiful. Old world meets new. Took a tour of the place. Beautiful party room in the back and a nice outside patio. Service was excellent. Chris our waiter was great! We started with the French Onion Soup which blew my mind! Absolutely delicious, nice Caramelization of the cheese. (See pic) Wedge salad ... now I don't like blue cheese but this place had the absolute best blue cheese dressing (home made) that I have ever had. We ordered 2 sandwiches. The French dip which was fantastic!! Bread was crispy. Meat was tender and beyond flavorful. The Pastrami Rueben was equally delicious. We split both sandwiches. Came here for my birthday dinner and this place was really good. Nice little restaurant in the village. Friendly staff. Cute place. My friend got shrimp stuffed with crab and really enjoyed it. Got the dry rub Cajun wings for an appetizer which everyone enjoyed. I got the marinated skirt steak which was good. It was a bit undercooked for me and I'm not a huge fan of teriyaki and didn't realize beforehand that's what it was marinated with. All in all, everyone enjoyed their food here read more

Service and food were horrendous. We had reservations since it was Mother's Day. The place was dead quiet. From the moment we walked in with my party of three plus myself; the blond waitress gave vibes of distress. Food was overly overly salty and horribly presented and service was an extremely long wait. Let's just say we'll never be coming back here again. I don't know if your employee is on drugs but the way she speaks to people is not professional at all. Ya gotta love those little bar/pub/restaurants you'll find in small town places, especially along this lengthy island. Oyster Bay is no exception as they have several of these spots within its borders. One of them? The Homestead. It served well for dinner recently as myself, my girlfriend and a few chums chose to enter on a frigid winter night (post beer). Speaking of beer, enter into The Homestead and you'll find the bar portion of the place to your left with a handful of basic as well as a few craft brew choices (Montauk Arrowhead for me). No Oyster Bay Brewery beers on tap which makes me scratch my bearded chin, but it's acceptable with the brewery almost diagonally across and up the street. Besides the bar, the pub portion makes up the rest of this space with low-lighting, brick facade, and some rustic signage (as well as an oddly-placed but prestigious chandelier above one table). It makes for a comfy setting (and did well when we were escaping from the cold). There's a spot in the back where a band could jam out so potential live music adds into the pub feel. When I went to the bathroom, I took a little trip past the band area to find another cozy room and a more elegant section to the right of this (therein lies the restaurant portion). But enough about space, let's get down to grub. The menu has a nice variety of apps, burgers, sandwiches, entrees, and pastas. Oh and on a cold night like that, soup works perfectly. My girlfriend went for some French onion (cheesy goodness) and I decided on lobster bisque (tasty, though no Jordan Lobster Farms). Post-soup it was burger boulevard as we all dined on one of Homestead's meaty concoctions. I chose the Bourbon Street Burger which was Cajun-spiced and topped with andouille sausage and pepper jack cheese. It wasn't as hot as advertised, but had a nice little kick to it. On the other hand, my girlfriend's Sriracha Burger lived up to the heat especially with its caramelized sriracha onions. Bam! Fries on the side were sufficient and the tiny cup of coleslaw was a nice balance of flavors. To round out the review let's just touch on pricing and service. A few bills higher this meal did cost (Yoda?) and when looking back at the size of things it might make you question the value. As for service, it was pretty respectable (our waitress seemed to be lovin' the moment) so I'll let that uptick slide. Overall, The Homestead makes you feel like you're at home through it's cozy ambiance (even if it's mostly bar/pub) and gives you a time worthy of returning for. Perhaps you'll agree on the value factor, but beyond that, consider this small town spot one to surely not pass up when in the Bay or Oysters. read more

This was a pleasant surprise to come across after touring the Sagamore Hill site. The service was impeccable. Our waitress could not possibly have been any friendlier. The menu (which I assume is limited due to the coronavirus) had a nice variety of offerings. The food itself was delicious. My one suggestion would be for them to consider a lunch menu with smaller portions. But otherwise we had a great meal and highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

I just visited this place yesterday and I came here around 2:30/3. It was pretty quiet. There were maybe only a few people that were seated for lunch. It was also a Sunday too. I've seen this place many times in passing and I was always curious as to how good it is. The inside of this restaurant is really nice. The decor has a very warm feeling when you walk in. It looks a little upscale and fancy but I was dressed casually and it was fine. The lunch menu has a great variety to choose from. I got the Texas Burger which had American cheese, bacon, caramelized onions and fried onion strings on top, plus a delicious bbq sauce. The sauce was a little runny and a bit messy but it tasted absolutely scrumptious on the burger. This burger was huge but I ate the whole thing. I was hungry lol. On the side it came with a little basket of your choice of regular fries or sweet potato fries. (I got regular fries). It came with a small little bowl of coleslaw that was fresh and chopped up small and wasn't swimming in Mayo which I liked. It came with 2 dipping sauces, ketchup and honey mustard and of course a pickle. My meal was very delicious! Perfectly cooked burger, very juicy and the bun was crispy. I would highly recommend this place! I'll definitely be visiting again. They also have live music at nights and dinner which sounds like a lot of fun! I witnessed a very rude owner or manager come out and berate an exceptionally sweet young woman bartender up from the Carolinas. Next he was rude to me. Claimed he needed her to clean up - that teachers were coming in. Teachers? He had to be kidding. Have you ever been in cool town lunch/pub and have been told that teachers were coming in? For what? A wedding at 4pm on a Thursday to take over and close a bar on a main road in town? The guy was really annoyed that a woman bartender was being friendly to me a new customer (who went in to check it out and maybe do a rating for yelp). I asked how long the bar was there... apparently from the 1890s! cool Do not go there. The salad was great... but you can find lunch anywhere... Lunch: Chicken salad platter... comes in a high bowl.... piled with fresh spinach salad, cranberries, walnuts and chicken salad. Really good! Crabcake: horrid! same old peppery chopped filler in the crabcake. Horrid yellow cream sauce around it. Bartender Crystal was super nice.. The manager or maybe an owner was just hostile and rude to her. Meanwhile she had heated the crabcake a second time, listened to two guys down telling some stories to her... and waved out the last woman from the tables next to us. Stopped by for lunch. Only 2 other couples in the place. Sat at the bar and was met by the bartender, who was very nice. Ordered my drink and baked clams. Sitting at the bar was tough because all the televisions were blinking due to some technical glitch. So I just buried my head in my phone. Wine was good, but later see they charged my $12.00. It wasn't a Simi, so that was a shock. Clams? A little raw and cold but they were whole and the breadcrumb topping was flavorful. Seems like the cook needs to up their game. Stopped here the other night before heading to Oyster Bay brewing. A lot fancier on the inside than I was expecting, especially for a bar/restaurant. The waitress was very nice and attentive, but we were one of the only ones in the place. The food was just okay and way overpriced. We started off with potato skins that were soggy, lacking flavor. I was excited for the skirt steak sandwich that I ordered, but I was extremely disappointed. The sandwich was 90% bread 10% meat, for the price I would have liked to see some meat on it. The steak was cooked to medium rare as I ordered it, and it was seasoned nicely. The sweet potato fries was the only thing I enjoyed about the dish. read more

Here's the Scoop: My husband and I cam here for an afternoon Christmas party, Cute spot was an outdoor seating space that I hear in the summer is pumping with live music and drinks. Inside the space is nice as well. Our group was seated in a private space. The service was on point. the food tasty and large portions. the lunch menu had quite a few choices I didn't know what to order. I decided on the Lobster Bisque and a Bacon cheese burger platter with sweet potato fries. Wow. Wow, the Bisque was creamy with small bits of lobster but seasoned well. The burger platter huge. The burger was moist, the fries tender and the slaw tasty. Parking is ample, menu is accommodating to the needs of the community here in Oyster Bay. Small pub-like atmosphere which always has a friendly face to order to. It is in the quaintest section of Oyster Bay Village... behind the drapes. It feel so local. Hamburger is not any better than other places but the ambience makes the difference. Ordered 2 orders of wings and fries. The sweet potato fries were good. The appearance of the wings alone was very disappointing. Once trying them we knew the look was just as bad at the taste. We hosted a 40th birthday party in the Roosevelt Room at the Homestead and it was absolutely amazing. Really wanted to like this place, fell in love with the town via the arboretum & sagamore. Service was friendly , menu varied from burgers,pasta, salads & apps. They charge city prices for below par food. The ribs were dry, French fries tasted old. My girlfriend and i got a bug to find some live music on a Sunday night and found that Homestead was to have live jazz music. I was elated that it was so close to home. The building is so nice and the atmosphere is nice to relax and unwind. We tried some appetizers and were drinking beer so it wasn't a full dining experience. But this I will say, the little neck clams were excellent and the calamari was cooked perfectly. When the jazz music started, I was in heaven. Sorry to say we didn't catch the bands name, but they were excellent. The drummer was phenomenal and the rest of the band really had it together. Food was good and the ambience perfect for a quiet Sunday night. The help was friendly and I'm sure we will be back soon. read more

What a long strange trip its been... The Homestead: it was here, then it was something else then it was something else again and now it is back to being the Homestead. In all the different incarnations though, some things never really changed, such as the crowd that goes there. The latest version of the Homestead is back to being a locals / biker friendly bar with cheap eats and drinks. Live music that is at times almost too loud and the sort of place where you never know who you will bump into. The food is good and the beers are cold- pretty much sums it up. 15 Years I've lived in Oyster Bay and I have never walked into "The Homestead." What is wrong with me! I met up with my brother to eat and I chose to come here. Oyster Bay is a small town so finding parking is easy. Just pulled up, jumped out my car and walked in. The place wasn't busy at all, just a few locals. We got a table and had the pleasure of having Lisa as our waitress. She was kind, courteous and very quick. She never left us waiting or wanting at all. Did I mention how amazing the place looked! Wooden floors, with a very homey feel to the place. Plush leather back seating and wooden tables. They were playing modern music while having the Olympic on their 10 plus TV's. After taking in the sights, out appetizer came out. Potato skins were hot and delicious. I only wish they added more bacon and cheese on it. The sour cream they gave us was great as well. They gave us enough and it was whipped sour cream placed on a plate. Later my burger came out. I had to stop and yell at Lisa. "I order a burger not a mountain!" They give you a ton of fries and a huge slab of delicious meat with cheese and bacon. I truly enjoyed the burger. This place is legit and it only took years after leaving Oyster Bay to discover it. It won't be my last time there......they have buffalo wings I didn't try yet. read more

Must start with the Menu not being updated on any website. A Tuesday night during these crazy times might force a restaurant to adjust their menu. Didn't like being surprised, especially being a menu surfer. That being said, with fewer choices we had to adapt & overcome. And we did. We were able to feast upon the baked clams which were outstanding. Never had baked whole clams. They were delicious and a party of 4 had plenty to go around. The pretzel was tasty as well. We ordered the Boneless Cowboy, salmon, skirt steak, and a burger that might have stole the show. All the food was excellent and the servings were very satisfying. The service and atmosphere were enjoyable and welcoming. Would definitely come back. I ordered the homestead salad which came with Spring mix, fresh mozz., sundried tomato, grape tomato, asparagus, artichoke hearts, olives, roasted peppers, gorgonzola, basil balsamic dressing. But without gorgonzola (fresh mozzarella & blue cheese? that's just weird). The salad was on the small side, but was dressed nicely and full of toppings. I enjoyed it for a light dinner, if you're hungry I suggest adding a protein or getting an app. Service was good and the bar/restaurant was clean and had a comfortable setting. Love this place! The owners are amazing, the staff is super friendly. They talk to you like you are part of their family and care what you have to say. Awesome place to grab a bite when in the Oyster Bay Area. Their lobster bisque is amazing (just wish there was more lobster chunks in it). The fried calamari was great too, comes with three different sauces (the spicy tomato base was my favorite). Our company had the linguini with shrimp and clams in white sauce (plenty of clams with maybe 3 shrimp), baked shrimp scampi, and their Deep South burger which had pulled pork on a burger (foodgasm). All the dishes were delicious and went down well with some cold brew. Will be returning in the near future to try out more of their dishes. read more

This is a very cool place for a casual dinner in the heart of Oyster Bay. It seems to have been there forever (think Teddy Roosevelt). It's a very relaxed vibe, the food is always good, as is the service. We live close by and it's our go to spot whenever we can't decide what to eat. They have a great selection of appetizers - the wings, nachos, mussels, potstickers, fish tacos are all really good. The dinner menu is very diverse too. From really good burgers and sandwiches to pastas to steaks, they are all reliably good. Standouts include their fresh "Tuna Burger", really good Pulled Pork, and Skirt Steak. I came in with a group of 7 in total for my friend's birthday. The blond female waitress named Chris attended us. She had a nasty attitude saying hurry up and order. Kitchen closes in 10 minutes. And they won't wait for us. That's completely unacceptable. And further more she gave us dirty looks and mean attitude. Didn't offer drink menu nor dessert menu. Every time I asked questions regarding the menu, she would roll her eyes and give me a rude tone. We will never come back. Waste of money and time. $160 is bullshit. I ate here for lunch,it was my first time so asked the waitress what to order, she recommended the french dip. The food came out and boy was I disappointed at the portion size. I literally took the meat from one half and placed it on the other in order to create a normal sized half sandwich. The food did taste good, but don't being your appetite, or you may leave hungry. Very nice place to come for lunch or a couple drinks in Oyster Bay. They have many beers on tap including my favorite, Stella Artois. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich which was a lot bigger than I thought and served with a side of very tasty fries. I actually couldn't finish it! The pulled pork itself was pretty dry but I asked for a side of barbecue sauce and problem solved. Very good. The fish and chips were crispy and the fish was flaky and fresh.
