This was my first visit at Makkee. I tried their Mango Snow Black Sticky Rice and shared it with my boyfriend. It was a nice refreshing dessert. Best of all, not too sweet. The mangos and black sticky rice were the best parts of the dessert. Mangos perfectly ripe. Sticky rice, chewy and mild. I just wish the ice cream vanilla bean flavor didn't pull through as much because I love the mango and rice flavor so much. The interior is very clean. There's lots of seating and moveable tables. There's soft and calm music that plays in the background, which makes the vibes very relaxing. I came on a Tuesday around 5pm, and it wasn't crowded. You can order off a kiosk, which makes it convenient to explore the menu if it's your first time. Description is in Chinese but there's pictures of each dessert. Overall, I'd like to come back to try their most marketed dessert, their Makkee Deluxe. It's a combo of grass jelly, red bean, jellies, and sweet potato balls that's naturally sweet. read more

I ordered the signature dessert and my friends ordered 5 other different ones. The mango sago and mango sticky rice are amazing!!! I wonder if it's not mango season what I would order. While the service is pretty fast, it could be faster by having menus available to the line while they wait. I Asked the employee if the boba drinks were made with real milk and they didn't seem to understand me. So unfortunately I didn't get to try that. Parking was busy when we arrived but our line was short. By the time we finished our food the line was really long but there were a ton of parking spaces. This feels similar to all the other Chinese dessert/boba places that have opened up recently... lack of clear instructions, long queues, but great food! You place your order at the kiosk, but the one tricky thing here is that you need to have a seat BEFORE you order. The Mango Pomelo Sago was solid. Some of the mango pieces were sour and the dessert leans towards the sweet side. Our family liked the seasonal taro dessert, it's not too sweet! Staff interactions were minimal--no greeting, no guidance, and no acknowledgment when we left. As for the desserts, they didn't impress. The mango sago (a classic I usually enjoy) was just okay, nothing memorable. The peach gum with lotus seed, advertised with "fresh milk," was disappointing. It had very little flavor, and the milk base had an unexpectedly thick, slightly gooey texture. We ordered for takeout. The packaging was impressive, with a secure screw-top lid, a plastic insert to prevent leakage, individually wrapped spoons and a bag designed to hold two containers perfectly. Stopped by Makkee Dessert after brunch nearby and was surprised to see about three parties already waiting just minutes after they opened at 11:30am. By 11:45-12:00pm, most of the tables were full -- clearly a popular new spot (took over Xing Fu Tang). The menu isn't as extensive as Meet Fresh, but I actually appreciated the curated selection since it made choosing much easier. We ordered the Mango Pomelo Sago ($10.99), Taro Ball & Grass Jelly Bliss ($10.99), and the Crème Brûlée Pearl Milk Tea ($7.49). The grass jelly dessert was simple and comforting - cubes of grass jelly with red bean, taro mochi balls, a sprinkle of golden raisins, and a side of half & half. Solid and satisfying. The standout for me was the crème brûlée milk tea! I'd probably ask for it a little less sweet next time, but the boba was some of the SOFTEST I've ever had, and the custardy brûlée topping added a nice touch. There's one self-serve ordering kiosk. The staff spoke limited English but were able to answer our questions without issue. Makkee is located in Diamond Plaza near the front, close to Garden Café. Similar to Meatfresh, in terms of offerings but less sweet. The portion size could definitely be split between two, but if you like it a lot be prepared to order your own. This dish was good, but I'm more excited to try the other dishes. Service was quick with a self-serve kiosk and it's easy to know when your order is ready as you receive a text and your order number is on the over head display. Parking: Makkee Dessert is located in the strip mall off the freeway. The parking lot was rather crowded when I went so parking might be a bit difficult. Interior: The store is rather small. It was clean but everything felt crowded. The tables were so small that if two people were to sit across from each other and put their elbows on the table, they would headbutt each other. Service: There are kiosks where you can order by yourself when you walk in. They will call you over to the counter when your order is complete. Food: I am always looking for new Asian dessert places so I was pretty excited when I heard about Makkee. I got the Taro Coconut Sago. It came with a generous amount of real taro chunks, sweet taro paste, sago, and sweet potato balls. I didn't quite taste any coconut. The sweetness was balanced and I would say it was the "Asian not too sweet". The milk came on the side so that you can add it to your liking.
