Used tools just hanging out on the table counters

Been coming here for decades and I never write bad reviews especially ones based solely on service but this was definitely a new low. The female staffer ignored us completely and when I went up to order, she gave us lots of attitude and just told us to look at the menu. We also got a lot of eye rolling as well. Honestly, I should've just walked out. But I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt maybe she was having a bad day? Honestly, the lady has never been kind all the years that I've been going, but she's never been this bad. Then my mom ordered a smoothie and she was unhappy that she referred it to it as a smoothie sha bing instead of a bing sha. Even the male staffer was rude. Zero customers inside. Wanted to support them, but this is definitely the last time. They were one of the OG places to start serving Boba back in the day and their shaved ice was pretty decent. Their drinks have always been so so, but I always try to support mom and pops and this was definitely one of those places you go just to feel nostalgic about the old times. I am totally fine with zero service and even bad service, but this was way worse than bad. I also don't think it's ok to have used power tools and other stuff just spread out on the counters were people are supposed to eat.

Yummy food! We ordered shaved ice and crispy chicken. The shaved ice was great and the chicken was cooked perfectly. It tasted amazing with the basil. Come here!

Went back tonight and took a friend so he could see if what I like is really gewd and he likes it! Maybe next time he goes he and his family can enjoy this place together. For those who do not know, this is a hole in the wall kind of place. Ingredients here are made fresh by the owners who take pride in what they serve and offer. They have made long time customers that have been coming here for years...wish I was one. Barely found this place maybe 2 to 2 1/2 years ago. This place mostly offers desserts and some take home and cook food items.

Stopped by Little Bean for dessert. There were no other customers present at 7pm (one hour before closing). We placed our order and waited about 10-15 minutes for our two orders of hot grass jelly. Hot Grass Jelly w/ 3 items ($6.50): Added tapioca, red bean, and sweet potato + taro rice ball. The grass jelly tasted fresh and was unlike any dessert I've had since it was more a grass jelly soup with the toppings mixed in. For those who want to try an authentic Taiwanese grass jelly dessert, this is it. In hindsight, I do wish we ordered only one of the hot dessert and tried a shaved ice as well.. but that just means I'll have to make another trip out.

There's no place like Little Bean!!!! I drive from Fullerton to come here because it's truly worth it. The shaved ice is the best - not too sweet, big enough to share and super legit. The popcorn chicken is a must get!!!! And their boba milk tea is so refreshing again not too sweet. The ambiance is janky but honestly don't even care it's so good.

The older I get the more I realize how special mom n pop stores like Little Bean are - for decades, it's been a mainstay for Taiwanese treats, dry foods, and desserts and a tried and true place my friends and I go to for simple yet delicious Taiwanese shaved ice. While there's nothing fancy or modern about the place visually, I think its charm lies in its old school charm, down to its tables where you can play Chinese checkers and the fact that the same people have always worked there. I'm amazed at how the price for a pretty big bowl of shaved ice has always stayed cheaper than competitors ($6, no tax) as well.

Wow, I can't believe I never reviewed this place! I am so thankful it survived through the pandemic, seeing that is a mom and pop store, very small and homey. This is my go to place for Taiwanese shaved ice whenever I come to Rowland Heights! They use fresh ingredients and give a nice portion for a fraction of the price (comparing it to other Taiwanese restaurants!). The only reason why I am giving four stars instead of five is because I only order one item from this place. I want to venture out to other things on their menu..but I just can't get myself to... My friend did order Taro smoothie once, and the lady literally just took fresh taro and blend it into a smoothie! Highly recommend this place if you want a taste of Taiwan drinks and snacks :)!

Large Coconut Milk Tea with Boba

LIttle Bean is the OG gold standard for warm boba. They've been doing it for over 20 years. There are a million boba chains that have come and gone and come again, but Little Bean is still standing. I used to play in a basketball league in the area and someone in the league said, "You haven't had the warm boba at Little Bean?" One try and I was hooked. No matter what drink you get, when you grab the bottom of the cup the feeling is the same... The pulsation of warm boba, warm enough that you can feel it through the cup. I usually get mine with standard milk tea or sometimes I ask the owner to customize it and make it a coconut milk tea. Their milk teas strike a good balance of tea flavor and sweet creaminess. I punch my straw in, give it a stir and take a sip. The warm boba effortlessly floats up the straw. I bite and always forget that I don't have to bite that hard. Their boba is super soft but still chewy and gently sweet. I mean super soft. No hard centers. They keep their boba in metal double layer pot that is always warm. It is still my favorite boba ball in SoCal. The store also sells some herbs and Chinese/Taiwanese snacks. They don't have many tables, but Pre-COVID you could find people having their boba drink and eating a few snacks, talking with friends or reading anime. Another very popular item is their shaved ice, simple, traditional Taiwanese style. Not over sugared with flavored syrups. There are plenty of sexier looking milk tea and smoothy drinks at other places, but Little Bean always delivers equally or better without the hype. They use fresh tea and fresh fruits for their smoothies and their drinks are reasonably priced. Thanks for giving me 20+ years of boba goodness!

    pina colada. SO good

One of our favorite spots in Rowland Heights! My family has been coming here for years, ever since we were kids, and it's always been the same husband and wife running the entire shop. Service is a little slow, but it's because the lady makes every drink from scratch with tons of love and patience with homemade ingredients. It's fun to watch her create behind the counter. Even the fruit teas are literal fruit blended in front of you with tea, not the syrupy stuff. Our personal favorites have always been the smoothies/slushes because she blends them to perfection and even gives us the extra in a cup on the side. Shaved ice is also delicious. This is one of my favorite small businesses to support!

You can go to one of those trendy boba chains and get your drinks made by teenagers serving powdered formula, or you can come to Little Bean, a local shop owned by an adorable pair of Taiwanese uncle and auntie whose livelihood depends on this storefront. Little Bean has been around for as long as I can remember. I always stop by whenever I'm in the area to support this mom and pop. My go-to is the Taro smoothie with boba, made with real taro.

Ooh I yelped and found this lil mom and pop shop called Little Bean in Rowland Heights. I chose boba which is housemade, rice balls, custard and condense milk for my toppings. Omg this is such a throwback flavor to the old school style and I absolutely loved it. It was only $6.75 for it and it came with 4 topping choices. What a great find for authentic Taiwanese shaved ice! A must try if you're in the area.

Our food came out quickly. We liked the sliced pork rice with egg. It was not the best, but it was a comfort meal and flavorful. The Stinky Tofu was okay, but they were a bit too dry. I liked that they gave us a lot of pickled vegetables. The sauce could be thicker and better. For the beef stew noodle, the beef was tender and flavorful. If I had known that those four small pieces of meat would cost that much, I definitely would not have ordered them. The most upsetting part was that when we tried to ask both the server and the owner about the pricing issue, we were basically ignored. It offers a generous portion of tender, juicy meat and springy, fresh noodles. "DELICIOUS!!" I arrived at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) on Sunday (around 11AM). Parking is easy. The lot is big with many spots. Staff is very friendly and welcoming, but Staff spoke limited English. Fortunately, pointing at the menu was clear enough. The food took eight minutes and nine seconds. Fast time! As mentioned, the Beef Rib Noodle Soup ($16.50 - Mild) is wonderful! It arrived picturesque and delicious!! However, despite ordering "mild," the food has a very strong heat; I sweat nonstop as I ate. The broth is rich, savory, and spicy. The meat is tender, flavorful, and falls off the bone. And the noodles are hefty, soft, and springy. It's a wonderful, euphoric combination of flavors and textures. Concerning ambiance, No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights) is surprisingly spacious with its tall ceiling and relatively clean surroundings. However, its walls and furniture look worn down with time. Some seats even had torn holes. Unfortunately, the music uses radio with constant commercials playing in the background. Fortunately, there's a gender neutral restroom in the back. Overall, I found culinary magic at No. 1 Noodle House (Rowland Heights). The food is fresh, generously portioned, and well-prepared. I left full with a bright smile. What in Buddha's name have I stumbled into?!…read more This place is a fantastic hole-in-the-wall! I actually passed it once, even though there were chairs and tables right outside because I couldn't see the name of the place! Anyway, I came here with my girlfriend around 11:30-ish on Saturday. It was somewhat full with one last table that we took. We ordered: - Beef wrapped green onion pancake roll - steamed fish and leek dumplings - panfriend lamb and cabbage dumplings - Beef noodle soup with hand-cut noodles. The steamed fish dumplings came out first and it was so good, we almost finished it all before reminding ourselves that we need to save stomach space for the other stuff! I dipped it into a small mixture of their black vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil, but you could simply eat these without the sauce! The beef rolls were also good. Personally, I think I'd like the pancake wrap part cooked just a little bit more to make it flaky. It was softer and slightly stretchy, like how warmed tortillas are, but overall it was well-balanced with the amount of meat, cilantro/onions, and the sauce (which I assume is basically hoisin sauce). The beef noodle soup! Okay look: if you're into Taiwanese beef noodle soup like over at Rock Star Noodle or Taipei OG... Or some of you may remember Bull Demon King Cafe in Diamond Bar (this is to give some reference), this is by far the cleanest broth I've tasted. No, not literally clean. Just that it's not fatty, doesn't leave you feeling like you're going to go into food coma, and the flavor is not overpowering that it leaves a lingering after-taste you try to wash off later. This broth is GOOD. The hand-cut style noodles are nice, big, and chewy! In a good way! The beef though... They remind me of sliced brisket, and I personally prefer tendon and beef chunks but these do fine. And of course, there's bok choy - a decent amount too for some good tasty fiber. In all honestly, I want to go back and order more of this right now! And finally came the lamb and caggabe pan-fried dumplings. Lightning zaps and pizazz! This one was interesting. There's a bit of gaminess (just a hint) that reminds you how many skewer places try to drown it out with spices. I don't know if these are frozen or homemade (could be both) but they come out nicely tasty. There's just a hint of gaminess to remind you the meat ain't commercial beef/pork/chicken, but it's not overpowering that it tastes disgusting at all. I would say though that pan-frying helps with the flavor. It's interesting because my first few pieces had me second-guessing myself... until I realized I was reaching for the 4th piece, followed by a 5th... Followed by my 8th piece. My girlfriend was full and I ended up finishing all but 2 to take home and let family members try... Yeah, we had planned to take some back for our family but ended up eating almost everything... For a 2025 Michelin recognized, B-rated hole-in-the-wall, this is the place to go for true foodies. None of that over-hyped, over-priced IG stuff with superficial pretty looks but lackluster cooks. Here, it's straight up real food, nice and simple at cheap prices. Where can you find very good beef noodle soup in the San Gabriel Valley/Rowland Heights area for $10 without needing any add-ons? Tell me where, I'll be there! But Luyu Dumpling has definitely jumped into our top 3 spots for high-quality taste at cheap prices in this category.
