Mala Town is a build your own hotpot concept. When you walk in, there's a big clear bowl to gather everything you would want in your hotpot and tongs. There's a huge selection of vegetables, noodles, and seafood. With the meal selection, there's a smaller variety of beef brisket, pork belly and lamb. The beef slices were very fatty. As you head down the counter, the cashier will ask you what type of broth you'd want in your hotpot and they'll take the bowl to heat it up in the kitchen. For $14.99 per lb, anyone can easily overestimate how much food they're eating. There's a fridge full of different drinks next to the cashier and if you leave them a review on either Yelp or Google then you can snag yourself a free drink. After paying, there's a sauce station to assemble your own sauce which includes sesame oil, chili oil, soy sauce, scallions, oyster sauce etc. There's also cups to fill your water or iced tea. The concept is new and intriguing to Vegas. I enjoyed the idea of picking out my own ingredients to go into the soup versus having a preset hotpot entree. I tried their mild beef broth which didn't taste anything special to me but it was good. They also gave aprons which was super helpful to avoid getting your clothes dirty. Grab a big bowl, and work your way through the ingredient line to get veggies, balls, others, noodles and meats :) lots and lots of options!! After you choose your ingredients, you'll be at the cashier and you will choose which broth/seasoning you will like. Soup and dry options are available. Head to a table and make your sauce. Then enjoy! The spicy soup is REALLY hot. Spicy hot and temperature hot!!! Also beware of how much food you weigh out!! The price of your meal depends on how much food you get. It's not ayce so really picture how much you think you will eat so you're not paying a lot for leftovers. Super excited that Mala Town opened up in Vegas! We now have another option for malatang! The only other places that have the same type of set up is Yunnan Tasty and Best Hot Pot. Malatang roughly translates to "numbing soup." So beware that if you do choose to have spicy, it'll most likely be the numbing type of spice. This is essentially a version of hot pot. Instead of cooking your food at your table, they cook it for you. You get to choose your ingredients, your soup base, your spice level, and they cook it all for you and bring it to your table! When you walk in, you grab a bowl and a pair of tongs and choose what you want to eat. They have a large variety of options to choose from -- the largest that I've seen in Vegas for malatang. Once you are done picking what you want in your bowl, you go to the cashier and they will weigh it. The food is charged by weight -- $14.99/lb. You get to choose which soup base you want: beef broth (mild, med, hot), tomato soup, chicken soup, or a dry mix (mild, med, hot -- similar to stir fry). They also assign you a table to sit at when you pay. I've had the beef broth in medium spice twice and it was delicious both times. It had a good amount of kick but not enough to knock you out. My husband had their chicken soup and it was very delicious -- full of chicken flavor. If you don't like to do any spicy foods, I would recommend the chicken. He has also tried the dry mix in mild and that is his favorite. The dry mix makes it so it's full of flavor but the only down side is that it doesn't keep as hot as a soup base. If you enjoy using a sauce with your meat or veggies, they do have a small sauce bar. It has all the necessary ingredients like soy, sesame oil, vinegar, cilantro, green onions, garlic, and chili oil. Both times we've gone, it was during their soft opening phase. We all got a drink for free but the selection of drinks change. First time they had soda but the second time, they didn't. I think my only gripe about them is that they don't have two of my favorite ingredients to put in malatang: pig intestine and pork blood. But they do have everything else I liked. There's a little self service sauce bar and drinks bar with water and lightly sweetened jasmine tea. We had one bowl at 0.8 lbs with the medium beef bone soup and another at 1.5 lbs with the hot beef bone soup. The soup base is earthy and slightly sweet with a hint of garlic. The ingredients seem fresh and we really enjoyed the food overall. Service: 5/5 - friendly cashier who explained the process for us and was patient while we debated our soup base. You sit at any open tables and they'll bring the food out. Ambiance: 5/5 - well decorated restaurant with music coming from two speakers. Love the green accents and chairs. The little plant island in the middle have the most adorable plushies!! Value for price: 4/5 - at $15 per pound, it is a little on the pricier side since it's almost $40 for the two bowls. We watched as every guest in line was well taken care of from beginning to end, offered special deals, and treated with care. Such a cute, friendly, and fun place to go to. Staff was super friendly from the moment we got in and food was tasty too. Overall, a very enjoyable experience; one that I would like to try again. Upon walking in, we were greeted by one of the staff members, Paul. He gave us the run down and pretty much told us to grab a bowl and start picking out our ingredients. They have multiple things ranging from different fish balls, to different cuts of meats, and noodles. After that, you just choose your soup base and that's it. Theres an assortment of meat and seafood shrimp, tofu, and fresh veggies and a wide assortment of noodles. There's something for everyone! After you weigh your food, you pick a broth and at $14.99/ lb this is a great deal. They cook your broth and ingredients and it comes out piping hot. They even have a sauce bar so you can dip your items in goma, sesame oil, or add an additional kick with chili oil or numbing spice. I got the beef broth in mild and my bf got the sweet sour tomato both were amazing. I really loved the unique flavor and I tried so many different items, I even ended up having left overs to take home. Came here for dinner with 2 friends on i believe maybe their 3rd? super soft opening day (they were still doing decor/setting up but open for business). Mala Town is the newest member/replacement of this spot, just east of Jones, on Spring Mountain, replacing where the long time standing KJ Kitchen had once stood, and 1-2 after that followed and had gone since. Overall, a pretty simple process. By the door, there is a rack of clean tongs for you to use when picking your items along with large bowls for it all. Simple pricing of $14.99/lb. You go around the "buffet" and grab as much as you want. They have beef/lamb/pork/spam/tendon/tripe to various meat balls/sausages/seafood to various mushrooms, sliced veggies, green veggies, noodles, etc. Decent variety. Bit sad that they dont have actual pork blood (more of a korean style, reminds me of a soondae but imagine a block of it instead), pig intestines, tofu, bean curd. Oh well. At the end is the cashier where they weight what you have while asking what soup base you want (selection between their SIGNATURE BEEF BROTH with options of Mild/Medium/Hot, SWEET & SOUR TOMATO SOUP, CHICKEN SOUP, and SAVORY DRY-MIX which also has options for Mild/Medium/Hot). They have a promo currently (as of 01/15/24) that gives a free drink of your choice from the mini fridge to the left of the cashier (soda/teas). They have a small "sauce bar" on the side including minced garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame sauce, shacha, chopped green onion/cilantro, sesame oil, and some others. (No fish sauce). When we got our bowls back, I feel like we didn't get all the beef we added (I think they may have removed some of the beef to save money). I paid $55 for two (with drinks) before tip. I'd rather pay a little more for all you can eat hot pot and get unlimited veggies and meat. Also the beef belly was decent, but the marble beef was very tough. read more

After months of anticipation I finally walked in and ordered. I went a little after noon and the there was no line and a lot of available seating. First impression.. was that establishment was clean and they had plenty of options for veggies, vegetarian, and meat. I wish they had regular eggs but they only had quail, I was recommended by one of the workers to go with the beef broth medium and just add spice to it by grabbing it from the sauce bar. The sauce bar has soy sauce, garlic, chili sauce, green onions, climate and sesame seed oil. They also had fresh water and sweet jasmine tee available, other refreshments were available for purchase. I mixed chicken, shrimp, beef, pork, lettuce, and book choy. My price came up to $13 I took it easy for my first try. I liked the following ingredients that I added: potato noodles, intestines, squid, octopus, spinach. I regretted adding the tong ho (stems too thick and hard to chew), beef tendon (heavy and flavorless), imitation crab (it was not the Japanese kind but rather an imitation crab fish puff). The flavor of the dry pot was not what I was expecting. I thought it would be a spicy dry pot like sichuan style, but it was actually a 90% peanut based sauce that was not very spicy.
