Came in on a Sunday for Sunday dinner We got lucky and it wasn't crowded we were seated right away I got the spicy broth and my friend ordered the coconut broth !!! You get your own drinks. They have a soda fountain. I also have a cell service station with like jalapeños, parsley, garlic. Etc and they also have a bunch of sauces. They give you a piece of paper where you can order what you want your Meats noodles veggies and then they have a call when you are ready to order you press the call button they take the paper and they bring you up what you ordered!!!! the workers there were super friendly very attentive. They were always cleaning making sure everything was good. Came by the table and asked if we were OK multiple times you definitely don't feel forgotten in this place.!!! All the finger foods are extra. I guess they used to be in the all you could eat too, but they've changed that. I saw that a lot of people were complaining about how the sauce tasted than it was bland. I can't really know. Say I agree with that because they have sauces and you can add your own garlic and like I said jalapeños so if you think the sauce is bland, then add your own ingredients to make it to your liking. I think that's an easy thing to freaking figure out people just always want to complain about something. I would definitely return to this place cause for 20 bucks. That's a deal and I personally thought it was delicious but that's just my opinion if you're in the area, I would definitely recommend you check it out. a fairly good place with a good ayce deal, but i definitely think there are some fixable things! the good: i came in when it was relatively full for dinner and i didnt have trouble with the condiments bar and self serve sodas being too full or anything. i liked the variety for both and felt that they were kept pretty clean. i like their ordering system, the variety in their food and drinks menu, and how everyone gets their own bowl and manages the temperature. the lychee highball was good and strong, and it was happy hour which i didnt know! $6 was a good deal. id say that 90% of the menu items were really good and fresh. i think the small portions are nice and i like that you know exactly how much come per order. overall the space felt clean and cute and the music wasnt too loud but was a good vibe! the ehh: -unfortunately soup broths were prettyyy bland! i ended up having to season my tomato broth with salt and other stuff which really changed the flavor. same situation with my parents' broths. -the brisket was a bit fatty for us, chuck was wayy better. might be a preference thing -there was such hugee cuts of vegetables LOL. and with no scissors i had to chomp into pieces of napa that were the size of my pot. -the pots were pretty far from the edge of the table, which is fine but we arent offered bowls unfort. we ended up using the bowls from the condiment bar but they were tinyy. i saw some other tables using the bowl that noodles come in -an irk of mine but most of the cups are still wet when stacked at the drink station! i hate the idea of trapped moisture and bacteria :/ -dessert was very okay. the pineapple was canned which i dislike. the only ice cream option left was vanilla, the kind you get in elementary school with a wood stick -lastly service was okay, i think itd be nice if the menus were automatically swapped when they take the old one, we waited for a bit sometimes. we were checked on once but also waited super long to check out, another waiter ended up doing it. her service seemed pretty good actually. otherwise, my drink order got lost and our dessert order mixed up. small things but not singular offenses! overall, i would probably come back after a while. i do kinda like this place. hopefully they can tweak things together and run a bit smoother! read more

I went back this past weekend. They hired more people which is nice since they're a lot busier than when I went the first time. I got the spicy broth again but not mild. My husband tried the coconut chicken one. His broth had a slight sweetness to it. It was a very light broth. Service was good. They were constantly checking on the tables. You do have to get your own soda and you would have to ask for water if you wanted water. The sauce bar was nicely filled. It was very clean. I will definitely go back whenever I can. read more

Good new family-run restaurant! The fam went to Ganbei to celebrate mom-in-law's birthday, what a treat! We did go on a grand opening time frame, so it was a learning experience for everyone! Being our first time here we all chose the regular AYCE menu, still lots of choices protein to try: -Beef Brisket -Lamb Shoulder -Pork Belly -Fish Fillet -Shrimp -Beef Tendon Ball -Fried Fish Ball -Cuttlefish Ball But don't forget to choose your broth first, everyone at the table gets their own hotpot! We chose between: -Bone Broth -Tomato -Spicy Szechuan (me) -Mushroom Tons of veggie options too: -Crown Daisy -Watercress (one of my favorites) -Bok Choy -Spinach -Lotus Root -Taro! -Enoki/King Oyster/Wood Ear Mushroom -Tofu -Udon/Ramen/Vermicelli Noodle And finger foods! -French Fries -Popcorn Chicken -Mozzarella Sticks -Jalapeno Poppers -Buffalo Wings -Chips & Salsa There's also a small service bar where you can create your own dipping sauces, and an AYCE drink station as well featuring Coca-Cola products! That's included with your meal! Overall, a good dining experience! Staff were all brand new as well so while a tad slow on service, they were very kind & patient with customers. Excellent portions of meats and veggies given, more than enough to go around for our party of 7! Unfortunately, that day they were out of Popcorn Chicken and Buffalo Wings in the finger foods section. Must be the most popular ones! The only tiny gripe I have is that when you're asked if you want a refill of broth for your hotpot, it's basically just hot water poured into your bowl instead of more of your chosen broth flavor. Staff said it's because in their experience as the broth gets evaporated it becomes much saltier, so instead of adding more of your flavored broth they add hot water. Eh, not the way I would do it but I get it oh well! The Spicy Szechuan broth for me was flavorful and plenty spicy, but the rest of my family said their broths were a bit bland to begin with and not quite up to par flavor-wise. Other than that we all had a great time dining at Ganbei! Being that it was a grand opening special we also were able to get a nice 20% off the total bill! Excellent value for this meal! My family and I came here for the lunch special believe it was like $20 a person for all you can eat hot pot. I do think that this place really does give mom and pop vibes. The ordering process is a little different than most shabu shabu places that I've been to. Like all of the little seafood and the vegetables and the fish balls and the tofu those things were needing to be ordered. I'm used to those being in like a little bar area. The sauce bar is small, but it does have everything that you need. They also do include drinks automatically I believe and it's a self-serve situation. I like that they add personality to the store, but it is a lot smaller than you think. The exterior looks huge, but when you go inside, it is small. I believe there is an automatic gratuity for parties of 6 or more. The broths were not the best. Not too much flavor you definitely have to build the flavor of the soup. I added some fish sauce to mine. I did not like that as much because I like when the soup broth has flavor. One thing that was pretty misleading was I think they had like a coconut broth and the coconut broth was not creamy I was thinking that it was gonna be creamy, but it was actually just like a chicken broth with pieces of coconut meat in it and it honestly didn't have any flavor of coconut at all. read more

My husband heard about this place, we decided to try them out. The place is small, has few tables, clean, and cozy. I love having individual pot for each person. Each person can choose what type of soup. The second time to add more soup, will be hot water. The way I understand you can order twice only. I love beef brisket, the first order came correct. The second time I ordered beef brisket again, not beef brisket was served. Kind of disappointed. I know the texture of beef brisket. Some of the veggies you have to look carefully before cooking them. Service is very good. Very nice. I would try them again and see if they give correct order. read more

Ganbei is, at the time of this review , very new. Ganbei is very affordable! Ganbei is a perfect example of " You get what you pay for." You can tell that this is a mom and pop establishment and it's quite charming in its own little way. It's so new that they still have packages of decorations and furniture that's wrapped up ready to be placed and used in the front patio. I'm sure this is going to be quite cute when it's done. Inside is a little bit of mayhem. The way that it's laid out understandable but it's so tight that there is no way to pass it the same time as another individual. I really don't like how cramped and awkward it is. It's a small space but it's so unnecessarily cramped. We met this very energetic and lovely lady whom I'm going to assume is the owner. She eagerly sat us, quickly explained the menu, and then ran away. A few minutes later our server showed up and then actually apologized for being late. He explained again how the menus work and then we put in our order, starting with our base broth. I saw a comment on one of the reviews saying that the broth really doesn't have much flavor and I can confidently say that I agree with them. None of our party of three's selections had much of any flavor. Mine was supposed to be chicken coconut and it was really a chicken broth with some slivers of coconut thrown in. Absolutely flavorless. They do have a condiment bar that's a little sloppy that rather than create a dipping sauce, I opted to mix together add-ins to actually put some real flavor to it. It was just so bland. One thing that really bothered me, especially with how cramped it was was the fact that it was a self-serve soda station. Absolutely not a fan. I didn't even drink any of the soda and I was still bothered by the fact that everyone had to keep getting up constantly to get their own drinks. Absolutely terrible idea. They delivered all of our things that we ordered except for one. When we a realized this, we flagged down our server only to be informed that they were actually out of said item. You couldn't have said that when we ordered? My water glass went empty a long time. I had to order through two different servers to actually get a refill. They had an option to change the lighting at the booth which was cute but I would have much rather have had a call button instead. Service was lacking. Virtually any other Hot pot place will give you more broth if you ask for it. When I ask them for more broth because mine was evaporating they offered me water. Are you serious? When I looked shocked he explained that they tend not to give out more broth because it becomes too salty. Sir, in order for it to become too salty there has to be some semblance of flavor. If anything, that would be an improvement! I couldn't believe how cheap this establishment was being! What would improve this place? Decent soup bases, sodas served to the table, more servers, and tidy up that condiment bar. Otherwise, for $20 it's an absolute steal (and that's what's giving it three stars instead of two) but it really could go from you get what you pay for to an actually really pleasant experience with just a little more work. read more

To start, we honestly went for the $20 AYCE fix. Service was spot on during our visit. Servers were very attentive and help us immediately. Menu was really easy to navigate. They provide a small paper to choose your items and amount of them similar to dimsum places. We got the mushroom base and spicy Szechuan base. We are fans of the individual hot pots. Layout of the place was very simple. Happy ayce included their sauce bar and fountain drinks. Proteins options were fresh and not frozen. Veggie options were great but I did notice some of the lettuce were not washed thoroughly as there was still some dirt. Our babygirl loved the mushroom broth. Mom and pop restaurant. The broths are homemade, the spicy Szechuan was really good. It comes mild medium and spicy which was great because the pre made soup base blocks you get at the store a bit too spicy for me lol. The meats were good quality and a pretty good selection of items for the hotpot and at the sauce bar. I loved that they had watercress and Crown daisy. The dining experience was a little less than ideal at first but considering it was a soft opening and only 1 server and a full house its understandable. The server (the son i believe) was great. Tried to be as attentive as possible and showed great customer service and made up for it at the end. So I found this place through yelp and I was surprised to see how close it was. For one, never heard of this place before. Another, affordable hot pot? Say less! I didn't know what I expect when I walked in. Everyone was really friendly, the service was great, and as a first timer it was really welcoming. I actually enjoy the selections that they have. I don't really crave hot pot as much due to how heavy the broths are and I would easily get full, but what stood out to me was how light the broth was. It didn't feel heavy and it's flavorful. Plus the benefits of having al la carte and $20 ayce?? I mean... that's a good price right there to check it out. The vibe there was great! Everyone was welcoming, me and my friends had a fun time. It was nice trying something new and knowing we will come back again for sure. Please make sure to have some fries for us the next time we come. We visited this newly opened hot pot restaurant around 6 PM and were initially told the wait would be about 1 hour. Later, the wait suddenly became 2 hours, which was frustrating and poorly communicated. What disappointed us most was the feeling that the restaurant didn't really want to do business or accommodate customers. Since it's newly opened, we understand there can be challenges, but it seemed like they may have either run out of food or didn't have enough staff to handle the crowd. We were here for the grand opening. We understand that they're still working some kinks out. The staff was very nice. Some things that were discussed at our table: 1. The broth wasn't flavorful at all. When they were asking if we wanted broth refills, they were adding hot water. When I inquired about it, our server stated that in their experience the broth gets saltier as it reduces. Which I understand is the case at most places but that wasn't really the case here. Even after adding all the meats and veggies, it was still very bland. It comes off as cheap. I wish they would offer a diluted broth instead. It also feels misleading when they ask for a refill on broth but it's just water. 2. The serving sizes were huge! We figured it was a one order per person but we were struggling to finish what we did order. 3. I think this was more because they hit kind of a rush but we had to ask for refills for the bowls twice when we were getting our sauces. We had a party of 7 and other parties came in too. 4. The music wasn't too loud, which I loved. Aesthetically the restaurant was very nice. You can change the light above the table too! Very cute. 5. This is a very personal preference but I was so sad that they didn't have just like regular cabbage! It's my favorite thing to get at hot pot. But they did have an interesting selection of items, including watercress and winter melon! Overall I think the place could use some work. But they're new, they're working some stuff out, and they have tons of potential. 6. The meat quality was decent but maybe it's because everything came out very frozen, which I know makes it easier to slice. Also the bathrooms are very clean and they have Coke products, for those who base their food choices off of the kind of soda they carry Their outdoor seating area may not be for eating but I will say it's very cute! This would be a 2 star if it wasn't because it's a grand opening. Never had I ever had a 2+ hour long dinner. Everything took so long I did not want to eat anymore. All their meats are very dry and look like it's been frozen for years. The broths are pretty plain and simple. They do not have an open bar like other hotpot places to grab your vegetables and etc... walk-in during early dinner time, initial interaction was ok, stander greeting, I took a look at the sauces and half of them were empty to the bottom, broth was light, meat and veggies were fresh, yet the portion is on a smaller scale. servers were friendly, very attentive to all tables, environment was welcome and LED lights above each table can be manually adjusted to individual's liking. the only one thing was if green leaf veggie can trim to less stems, which would be easier to fit into the mini hot pot (the only size restaurant serving). for the current price, it is well worth many future return trips. read more
