After hearing great things and seeing such rave reviews, I was excited to try Mala Town. Unfortunately I found it to be rather disappointing. Let's start with the pros. There's a decent selection of ingredients, everything was well laid out and clean. It's a fun DIY hotpot concept, upon entering just grab a bowl and tongs and fill it up with your desired ingredients. At the checkout counter, weigh the ingredients and choose your broth. It's a nice alternative to AYCE hot pot, especially for those who don't eat that much. Service is minimal as it's primarily DIY, but they were friendly enough and efficient. They cook the food and bring it out to your table. The ingredients were good and I enjoyed the complimentary jasmine tea. The biggest con for me was the broth itself. The broth is really the focal point of hot pot and it can make or break the meal. I got the mild beef bone broth and found it to be very heavy and overly salty. It was creamy which I didn't expect or particularly enjoy. It was also very orange-looking for beef broth. I thought maybe they gave me tom yum by mistake but it didn't taste like tom yum. In addition, it was pretty spicy for a mild broth. I don't think it tasted terrible, it just wasn't to my liking. Too heavy and salty. My partner got the medium dry pot mix and it was also not what either of us expected. All of the ingredients were cooked and then a sesame and peanut sauce mix was just poured over the top, not mixed in at all and did not have the flavor of a dry pot. We expected it to taste a bit more like a stir fry. The sauce poured over the top was very thick and super salty, making it a goopy mess. It was very spicy but lacked flavor, not good at all. After we left I looked at pictures from other reviewers and the dry pot we got looks very different from what others have gotten at this same place. I don't know why it was so different? Overall I liked the concept and fresh ingredients. I'd like to try malatang again but probably somewhere else. read more

All over tik tok I see ppl go to build your own hot pot. Cant lie I got severe fomo so I NEEDED to try at least once in my life and I pleasantly had driven to this place. Me and some friends were a lil bit confused on what to do at first as there is nowhere in AZ where we can build our own hot pot but Paul was so kind and showed us how the hot pot process works . We were given a bowl and began loading up. We were told most ppl get 1.5 lbs typically. The bowls are priced via weight with that being $15.99/lb. Yeah I love this. I was so excited I was grab happy and ended up with 2.8lbs regardless I was happy. Everyone I was with all got different broths one being the Szechuan and another being Bone broth. Both were so delicious. We were assigned a table the cooked our hot pot in the back and was brought to our table. My brother unfortunately had been grab crazy and got 5lbs but even after we finished all our food he was happy he could take it home and keep eating. (Mind you we still had to drive to AZ by the time we got back ME AND MY FRIEND DEVOUREDDDDD EVERY SINGLE BUT THAT WAS LEFT). Mad line and crowd inside the restaurant means good business! We grabbed our bowls and tongs and added everything to be made with the spicy Bone broth. Their spicy is very spicy so he aware. This is my go-to Malatang place in LV. The service is super friendly and the ingredients are pretty fresh. There a large selection that you can choose from to add to your broth or dry noodles. There is also a sauce bar that includes unsweetened tea that is self serve. The place is also pretty clean and has a good amount of seating. I've tried the signature beef broth and the tum yum. My favorite has to go to the signature. It is super flavorful and does not feel too oily like other places. The tum yum is good as well but the signature beef has a more complex flavor. I was sad when I went in today and they were sold out of the beef broth! They are currently having a 7.99lb deal on tuesdays and wednesdays before 6pm but I think it is ending next week so definitely take your chance and go soon! read more

Personal malatang is tricky to get right for delivery because it can be cold or soggy by the time it gets to the customer, and lowkey sometimes its so messy or exploded in the bag. This restaurant was bright and clean with good seating space inside. After entering to the left, I grabbed a bowl and a set of tongs. I moved forward to the veggie and protein stations to select the ingredients for my mini hot pot. I was seeking for more veggies and less protein. Most of the veggies were fresh. Some of the protein didn't look too good, hence, I skipped the protein. I got mostly spinach + other greens, cilantro, lotus, mushroom, tofu plus a few more items. I chose the original broth flavor with medium spice. Staff was okay. Price was reasonable... $15.99 per lb. My bowl was a tad over 1 lb that cost me less than $20... pretty average nowadays. After paying for my bowl, I was given a table number. Then I walked over to the condiments bar to grab some toppings and choice of water or passion fruit juice. Next I sat down at my assigned table and waited. Wait wasn't too long. Bowl was delivered to me. Staff did not return again after delivery. However, there was a gentleman who walked around the tables asking customers if everything was okay with their meal. He just didn't walk to my table which was fine. He probably knew I was just visiting, but still. Great service to people should be no different regardless. Anyway, soup was piping hot! Flavor was savory and delicious. Spice level was perfect. So I settled for the tomato based broth, which was pretty good. For some reason I wasn't in the mood to try anything spicy that day otherwise I would've tried their Szechuan broth, which is my go to. It was very clean and there was no wait when I went for dinner on a weekday. I like that you can customize your bowl to your liking. I love the variety of toppings you can get especially different types of tofu, rice, cakes, and they even have my favorite fishballs with roes!! in terms of meat they had pork belly, beef belly, and other options as well. It's not the highest quality of the meat for hot pot, but it does the job. The pricing was pretty reasonable. My bowl came out to be about $25 with tips. After you pay, you move onto the sauce station where you can make your own sauce on the side. My request is that they add ponzu. Otherwise it's perfect. When you sign up for a membership, you get points and you also get three dollars off of your next purchase. I can see myself coming back here and trying different broths.
