We were visiting some of my in-law's friends when we came here for dinner. I thought it was an Indian restaurant because of the name and was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be Thai fusion. It's a nice restaurant with pretty good food. One of my favorite things was the complimentary rice and eggplant spread they bring out. The rice is cooked in the banana leaf so it has a subtle flavor from that. I love anything eggplant so that spread was just delicious. We ordered the satay, spicy crispy samosa, basil vegetable fried rice, pad thai, and green curry chicken. The dishes were good but nothing extraordinary in my opinion and portion size is small - not ideal for sharing family style, which is how I like to order my Thai food. The mango sticky rice is a must try!! Service was good, friendly and attentive. They do have an interesting brunch menu that I hope to try - but they are far from where I live (Plano). read more

My very very favorite spot to get some good glass noodles and Indian chicken. This is a wonderful spot with a great environment where you can sit at the bar or at your table and have a great meal. The environment is classy and calm and it's very simple to order. Cocktails and wine are good here as well. If you were simply having lunch with the friends or if you were having a business meal this is a good spot to come to as well. We order the special that was recommended be the server. Unfortunately when the food was delivered it was incorrect. We were able to eventually find a manager who then put a order in for the correct fish. The server never came buy once to ask how the food was. At the end of the meal they charged us for all three meals. I brought this up to the manager and he gave us half one of the dishes. So the take away bad service last night, food that was incorrect and then delivered at different time than the other food. Solution you get half off one meal that you didn't order and a sorry for the misunderstanding???? read more

Not a big fan of curries here. But sugar cane juice was awesome. So were drunken noodles. Kids loved the samosas and papaya salad. Finished off with mango sticky rice. Vietnamese soup and cold noodles are really good. read more

I enjoyed brunch at Malia Kitchen on 1/1/2020. The ambiance is casual with traditional lighting, booths and tables. Service was good. We started with a complimentary app of sticky rice served in bamboo or plantain leaf with a mild dipping sauce. My friend and I split the eggs Benedict, each had a mimosa and she had the iced coffee with coconut milk. The meal was fantastic to taste and pleasing to the eye. The eggs Benedict was served with shrimp which was not mentioned on the menu. Absolutely delicious with green tea rice. However, if you have a shellfish allergy I would double check with the server on your ordered meal. The cost for all was a reasonable $27. I will return again. read more

As I walk into this restaurant the memories come flooding back of the streets of Thailand. My home. Just kidding I never lived in Thailand, but it sounds very nice. Anyway.... Quarantine stinks, I miss the smell of the wonderful food and the exhilarating feeling of seeing the waiter just around the corner with our meals. This review was for about a month ago. Went there for dinner and the service was a bit slow for a restaurant that was not quite packed for a Wednesday night. It was also a little warm in there, which Thai food being as spicy as it is, I was hesitant about trying it out, but went with it anyways. Our sever seemed less than enthused, but still got the basics of being a waiter/bartender down I guess. I ordered a Thai Moscow mule, which did not taste any different than a regular Moscow mule, but still pretty good. We ordered Tom Yum soup, and it was the best tom yum I've ever tasted! Definitely recommend. For entrees, we ordered fried rice and chicken pad Thai. Both were decent, but nothing I would drool over. Overall, I would've gone to a more authentic place. read more

While the service is great and the ambiance is very nice, I was a bit disappointed in the authenticity of their food. 5 star Thai is really hot---flaming, non-edible hot!. We ordered 4 star which is a Seattle 1 star. Seems fixable and one would expect a Texas crowd to enjoy spicy foods. We had both a curry and phad thai ordering family style. When I first came to Malai I was skeptical. Nothing on the menu really grabbed my attention and wasn't really sure of what to order. Well now after my umteenth time eating here, I LOVE! I give them major props for being so allergy friendly as well. We have a gluten allergy in our family and they are on it. Some of the fare I highly recommend would be the Imperial rolls, Avocado shrimp salad, Drunken Noodles, kids fried rice and the sticky rice and dip. My first visit to Malai Kitchen is one I wont soon forget, in a bad way. We made reservations and were seated quickly. After that, noting about our experience was quick. We waited about 10 minutes to receive our drinks. Water, tea, and drinks all came at once. My spicy basil margarita looked amazing, and tasted ok. I could definitely taste the jalapeno infused tequila, but I could not taste the tamarind. I'm not sure it was even in my drink. The basil must not have been muddled, but it tasted good when I chewed the basil before taking a drink. Our server did not take our food order until 20 minutes after we sat down. We saw him again when we were done eating. We asked him to split our checks and put the appetizers on our checks. He instead split them among three checks. I can't honestly say he was a bad server, but I can say the restaurant appeared to be understaffed. We received two chicken satay appetizers with peanut and sriracha sauce. I've had better chicken satay. Chances are you have, too. I had mediocre green curry chicken with rice noodles. I requested spicy the dish to be made spicy, but received mild. My girlfriend had the jungle hot pot which tasted too salty. Others at the table thought the food was good, but not great. Maybe we missed this on the menu, but large parties are automatically charged 18% gratuity. There were six of us. Rather than dispute the tip, we paid it and decided we would not likely return. There are many good Thai and Vietnamese restaurants in North Texas with better food and service. read more

I use to work here a couple years ago. Despite the way things ended, I still love this place. The owners vision of creating healthy Thai food at an adorable price is really amazing to me. Owner and management work really hard to keep standards up. The food is amazing and the best Thai food I've ever had. Every time I'm in town, I always order takeout from them; specifically the pad woon sen! It's my favorite dish. The wine is also a great price so that you're able to enjoy it with the food.
