Terrible food. I don't know how this place gets such good reviews. Thai Iced tea was flavorless. I never got bad Thai Iced tea before in any restaurant! And it was served in a cloudy plastic cup. That was a tip-off but things got worse from there. Had Pad Thai and the noodles tasted burnt and were completely rubbery. They were hard to chew! Also had Pi Pa duck which lacked any flavor and was tough. My guests and I left half the meal since it was so unappetizing. On top of that, the waitress never checked back to see how we were doing even though the place was practically empty. The worst part was that all of us had stomach pains that night and the next day. Coming from a Malaysian background, this place hit the spot. It is run by Malaysian Chinese and the food is almost as good as in Malaysia. I've had the Prawn Mee, Curry Puffs and the Char Quay Teow. All three are good, especially the Curry Puffs. My only complaint is the Char Quay Teow I had was a bit oily. read more

The male host who seated us was not very vocal nor friendly, however the rest of my experience was good. Maggie (?) was our waitress for our lunch. Very prompt and polite service. She kept our glasses of water filled and kept coming back to ask if we needed anything. Very attentive and quick service! Food was served very quickly and our meals were nice and hot in temperature. Plating of our meals was artistic or at least they showed extra careful attention. Depending on what you ordered, food was adequate to large in portion size. Taste was authentic and good. What kind of Thai place doesn't drunken noodles? Pad Thai was OK but nothing special. My boba in my Thai iced tea was extra chewy and tough on some pieces, not sure what that means because I've never had that before. Lastly, we called in our delivery order at 2:50pm on a weekday and it wasn't delivered until 3:50pm... on top of which we weren't given lunch pricing (good til 3pm) and no free soup. I prefer Summit Thai on Route 10 and will not be returning. read more

I live across the street in the Highlands, and get takeout from here a few times a month. I wish we could half stars, because they'd get a 4.5 (though I probably should have just given them a 5-star). The Pi Pa Duck is amazing, as is the Asparagus Shimp (I get it extra spicy). Everything else I've had has been wonderful. I've never eaten in, so if I do, and the experience is good, I'll upgrade/update to 5-stars here on Yelp. I've been to this restaurant a few times, never disappointed, especially with their fast paced service, friendly staff. The entree I would recommend would be the salted cabbage with fish head soup. My parents and I had dinner here at the end of last year after a late-ish shopping trip at the Short Hills Mall. I hadn't had Malaysian food many times so I didn't quite know what to expect, but the food was very good! I think many people agree because the place was pretty packed for past 8pm on a Saturday. We shared a bunch of dishes, including Roti Canai, Curry Puffs, Malay Prawn Mee, an Okra dish with dried shrimp, Hainanese chicken rice, and a tofu dish. My favorite was the okra, which were stir fried until crispy but not greasy and the dried shrimp added a nice saltiness that paired really well with white rice. The chicken for the chicken rice was also very tender and tasty. The noodles for the Prawn Mee were thicker than what I was expecting, but the soup had a unique fragrance that I liked. The servers were all very friendly despite the fact that we stayed until closing (or a little bit past). I don't know when I will be back because I don't live very close, but I will keep this place in mind next time I'm in the area again! read more

This place is amazing. My family always enjoys going here because they give us amazing food with amazing service. They sometime have special dishes they can recommend that is not on the menu. However you need to let them know what you would like since they offer a variety of food. They do offer parking in the lot that is behind them so you don't have to spend money or rush to pay the meters. They have amazing dishes and this is a great place to have a family style dinner. The food can sometime be a little to salty, but that is based on preference. They have vegetarian dishes for those who can not eat meat. They are also byob and if you forget to bring it there is a lot of vendors that are willing to deliver it to you, however you mush know the area. I personally suggest grapeful palate. read more

We ordered the roti, beef satay and chicken lettuce wraps for appetizers... all delicious! For our main meals, we ordered BBQ pork, pineapple chicken, renndeng chicken and beef... all meals were full of flavor! For dessert we had fried ice cream and Malaysian coffee. I LOVED THE COFFEE!! I found this place while trying to find a restaurant nearby the Washington Headquarters museum. There are a lot of reasonably priced menu items, many less than $10. I tried the Hainanese chicken and rice, which was really good, as well as the roti with chicken curry appetizer, which was equally delicious. I came a second time the next day and tried the prawn mee noodle soup, which was probably my favorite out of all the dishes I tried. The broth was very flavorful and they put in like 4 pieces of shrimp, along with half an egg (perfectly cooked), bbq char seew, and chewy egg noodles. It was the perfect amount of spice. The Malaysian style fried rice is my favorite here, but everything I've had has been absolutely delicious! I have also tried the fried wonton, clay pot pearl noodles, mee sian, and the tropical mango chicken. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. I've always come home with leftovers. This new restaurant has been open for one week. Very good first impression. The staff were very friendly and went to great lengths to explain the Malaysian dishes and the differences with Thai. The hostess is from Malaysia, so I assume that will be their strong point. I never had an opportunity to eat at the Thai restaurant at this location previously, so I do not have a comparison point. I had the Malay Car Kway Teow, which is flat noodles with shrimp and squid. Well spiced with hot sauce on the side. The hostess also gave me a cup of their Tom yum soup. Both the main dish and soup were very good. Good size portions. As other reviewers indicated the room is completely renovated and is really very nice. Comfortable seating, both booths and tables. This is also byob. The hostess gave me a menu and circled all the dishes I need to come back and try. They all sound very good. I will certainly return. read more

Ordered the Basil Chicken for takeout and received exactly what I expected. Given the hit-or-miss French-Thai competition at Origin, that predictability is an asset. This place is great. Have eaten here and gotten delivery many times. The food is fresh and tasty. And you can usually get it as spicy or as mild as you like. I quite like the thai lettuce wraps appetizer, and the roti canai is delicious. The Chicken Rendang and Thai Mango Chicken have been memorable entrees among many good options. The peanut pancake for dessert can be quite delicious as well. This is definitely one of my go to restaurants in town. read more

This is an update, and again, i'm missing items being delivered, since i already tipped the delivery driver 6 bucks (on top of the 2buck fee) i didn't mind them coming back to deliver my curry puff. (usually i'd feel bad and drive out, but i'm lazy today) anyway the curry puff is really the only item that is good all the time, this time we had roti cani, that was disgusting. it wasn't even curry sauce, it was curry water. it was so pathetic, that we ordered take out from a previous restaurant and wanted to try their roti cani, and ended up using that sauce! i'm knocking them down a star for now, twice i've had bad delivery... this didn't really affect the rating as much as the watery roti cani sauce, that just should NOT happen in a malaysian restaurant. read more

The green curry chicken was perfectly spiced and seasoned, noting was overwhelming. The reason for not giving five stars in the service was super slow, the waitress was not friendly at all, and everyone seemed flustered and overwhelmed while they had plenty of staff and were not busy. Our food did not arrive at the same time so there was the awkward wait. If you don't mind poor service and don't have to make it to a show, and are simply looking for great tasting Thai food then this is the place for you. read more

Was very excited to try this new Malaysian/Thai restaurant directly across from the Morristown train station and was very happy we ate here. Came in for lunch soaking wet from the torrential rains earlier today. The staff were so thoughtful to offer me napkins to help me dry off. The food was both tasty and satisfying. My friend and I shared the Roti Telur appetizer, an Indian pancake folded over eggs, onions and green chilies served with the same yummy curry chicken potato dipping sauce that is served with Roti Canai. I had the Malaysian pork chop express lunch and my friend had the shrimp Pad Thai, extra spicy. I like that they can make your dishes as spicy as you want. We liked the tofu cabbage soup of the day that came with our express lunches. Good value for the quality of the food at about $9 per dish. Love the subdued, modern stylish decor. There are booths as well as tables. Service was very friendly and we never felt rushed. The head chef and one of the servers did come from Penang in East Hanover. Since Malay is much closer to home and the staff here seem much nicer than at Penang, we will definitely be back!! read more

Roti Canai: (5/5) - always good and always wish I got one more after I finish the first. Wonton Noodle Soup: (4/5) - The soup is a little lacking in flavor, but the wontons are actually quite tasty. My second favorite wonton noodle soup in the area. Malay Char Kway Teow: (4/5) Consistent and reliable dish that fills the void of stir-fried-noodle-cravings. It's nothing special, but it's also good everytime. If you like spicy, add some hot chili or ask for more spiciness. Hainanese Chicken Rice: (5/5) Unique dish that I've only seen here and Penang. It's a very simple dish - steamed chicken with rice and a side of special soy sauce. But the soy sauce is, in fact, different than normal soy sauce and pairs very well with the perfectly steamed chicken. Mapo tofu: (5/5) Best mapo tofu I've had in area. I get it without mushrooms, since I don't like mushrooms, but the flavor is great. It's a perfect meat+tofu+sauce+rice type of dish that will fill you up on its own. Great place. Delicious food. Everybody loves the roti canai, which is a stretchy thin bread (but not at all risen) which you tear and dip into a potato and chicken curry. The satay tofu was good and so easy to eat. It's basically a deep fried tofu which can been cut on the diagonal, hollowed out and filled with with a peanut sauce, sprouts, cucumber (I think), topped with finely chopped peanuts. I tried the nasi lemak as it had been so recommended by other yelpers. I loved it, but would not be for everyone. It comes with a dark meat chicken rendeng, which is an amazing and uniquely flavored curry, a sweet chili anchovi side, cucumber, and a hard boiled egg. They seperate all if it on a partitioned plate. The sarang burang is a neat dish. It's a shell made out of deep fried taro root, filled with chicken, shrimp, peppers, carrots, mushroom, baby corn, and peapods. There are not many Malaysian restaurants around. This is a good one, with great service. It's a family style service where any member of the staff is willing to help, and make sure you enjoy your experience. They are happy to explain the menu and recommend items. One staff member even openned the door for us on the way out, with a smile. Will be back. read more

Dined here three times with two very good meals and then... a disaster. Was the chef on vacation? I may not return to give them a second chance. The curry cream puffs were sloppily microwaved, containing both warm zones and frozen clumps. That was an appetizer warning and near up-chuck moment. Next, my previous favorite: golden five spice jumbo shrimp, was nothing like the first two visits. It was completely bland and also felt as though it had been reheated from a previous preparation. The Pi Pa Duck was barely passable, and the Maylay fried rice could be matched by any quick takeout joint. To top it off, the entrees arrived one-at-a-time over a 10 minute span.
