Came here for my boyfriend's birthday and it was the best experience ever. we had reservations for 7 PM, on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was not busy at all, and we were greeted right away as soon as we walked through the door. We were shown to our seats immediately, and the waitress came over very quickly. The vibe of this place was great, very calming and welcoming. She took our order and also gave us some recommendations. My boyfriend and I both ordered steaks and also an appetizer. Now the food here, props to the chef because it was the best meal that we had in Philadelphia by far. We love this place, and if we're ever back in Philadelphia, we will definitely be returning!

Although I didn't have steak. I had their seafood paella, which is excellent. The meal is always enjoyable as well. Part of me doesn't want this place to become "found" since it will be packed if it does.

Malbec Argentine Steakhouse From the moment you walk in the door, there is a warm inviting vibe. It is a small intimate place with a few tables and a bar in the center. I stopped by for the Center City Restaurant Week brunch. They had a great selection of items to pick from on their 3 course Prix Fixe brunch menu. I sat at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and helpful. I started with the Spinach & cheese empanada with a mimosa. The empanada was crunchy, super flavorful with a nice cheese pull. For the 2nd course, I had the Egg White Veggie Omelette. It was loaded with a ton of tasty veggies. It also came with Home Fries and toasted bread. The final course was Tres Leches. The cake was so moist and just melts in your mouth. I'm definitely going back to try some different items in the future.

My family took me here to celebrate my birthday. My daughter was delighted with how helpful and supportive the staff were while she was making the reservations. We were a party of 12. The service was fantastic and the food wonderful! I had the chicken a la champignon. So tender and flavorful. I also tasted my daughter's branzino. It was delicious. All the steak eaters enjoyed their meals. For dessert, I received a lovely tres leche cake and the table received dulce de leche crepes. So yummy! Highly recommend this restaurant.

Excellent Argentine food ! Service was amazing . The restaurant is beautiful . 10/10 would recommend it to everyone

Service was excellent (Alex) I ordered a 14 oz Rib -eye. It was no thicker than 1/2" and could not have been more than 8oz. A bit fatty. Tasted pretty good $49 came with fries Ordered ice cream for desert. Two golf ball sized pieces of freezer burnt bland ice cream. $8 With an N/A beer total $72 Bottom line, overpriced mediocre. Do not recommend.

I have to say it's a little bit expensive, but the food and environment are great. The service is very good too.

Visited Malbec for brunch during Restaurant Week! My reservation was for 1pm which is opening time. There was about 4 people already dining at 1pm. I ordered a pitcher of red Sangria and the brunch restaurant week menu. Our sever was really slow but maybe because they just opened. The food was good and the Sangria was okay. The tres leche cake was delicious!

Came here for restaurant week and tried their dinner menu. The food was great. Apps: The beef empanada was , 10/10 get it. The Chorizo was OK, a tad dry. Main Course: Double downed in steak, it was solid. Not your American steakhouse steaks with a nice char, but still packed with flavor. Throw some of that chimichurri sauce ontop and you got yourself a nice flavor filled combo Dessert: Really good tres leches and bread pudding. I can't say anything bad about both of these.

Estraña Entraa / Skirt Steak and mashed potatoes and sangria

I went here for restaurant week for the first time and it did not disappoint. I got the spinach and mozzarella empanadas, the estraña steak and tres leches cake all on the $40 menu. Everything was delicious and I will be going back! The service was really good and I loved the ambiance it was dimly lit with a candle, really great for date night.

Try the Pork Italiano - one of the best sandwiches I've ever had - and their sweet and sour brisket platter with potato croquettes is sublime. Really fine fries as well. Great burgers, salads, crab cakes. It's all good! I noted that the price range was $20 to $30 per person, but my wife and I have gotten out of there for $44 with a beer before tip. Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time. Even with that, they stayed polite, friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating to the guy carrying around a mannequin. Great visit to Sassafras!

The inside has a great cozy vibe, feeling like a small, quaint pub where you just want to settle in and stay awhile, which in fact we did. We started our meal with two incredible appetizers. First, we built an amazing cheese and ham charcuterie board, choosing 5 different cheeses that were all fantastic. We also ordered the Whipped Ricotta, which was out-of-this-world delicious. The maple syrup drizzle was a perfect touch, and it paired beautifully with the pumpkin seed puree and grilled bread. For my main course, I went with the Beer-Battered Fish & Chips. The fish was cooked absolutely perfectly, crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside, and just super tasty overall. The portion was pretty amazing too. It came served with parmesan chips, malt mayo, malt vinegar, and tartar sauce, which completed the dish perfectly. Even though I was stuffed, I couldn't resist dessert. The cinnamon beignets were light, fluffy, and the absolute perfect ending to a phenomenal meal. The other component I'll mention is there were four of us dining and every single one of us thought the food was just terrific! Not a single complaint! I should also mention the service was attentive and pleasant. Society Hill has a lot of dining options, but this place completely stands out. I'd definitely go back! Highly recommend!
