Top notched dinner in Forest Lake , I enjoyed the lobster roll very much. They tweaked it for me as I am a purist and don't want lettuce or celery touching the succulent lobster. It only requires a toasted buttered butter bun and sometimes more butter. Tried a bite of the fish and chips pretty good crust and homemade key lime pie was delicious. Would definitely return to try more seafood items on my next visit to Minnesota. read more

Too pricy for basic food. For starters I asked the waitress if the chef had ghee. She said "what is that?" I explained it's basically clarified butter (it is a seafood restaurant, after all). She said she would ask. When she finally returned (took a while) to take our order I had to ask about it again. She said "No we don't". Hmm. So I order the barramundi and because I'm dairy free I ask for the green bean appetizer to be cooked in olive oil. She says they don't have that. Really? She didn't know about ghee but seemed to know immediately about olive oil. And what fine seafood restaurant doesn't have olive oil in their kitchen? Only butter? For every dish? SMH. Paid $25.99 for the dish. It was a nice size but slightly overcooked sitting on a huge portion of risotto soaking in butter!! Looking for a place for a late lunch and stumbled on this place. We were promptly seated and drink order taken. Started with a couple of IPAs and a cup of their lobster bisque. I am so glad we waited a while after Mallard's restaurant opening to try their food. We started our meal with drinks and Walleye Bites. The appetizer was great- light breading and served hot. The table bread and butter was delicious, too. For dinner we ordered Chicken Piccata over Risotto, Mediterranean Shrimp Pasta, & Black & Blue Honey Salad. All were delicious and I felt the chefs really thought about the combinations of flavors and presentation. We are planning another dinner at Mallard's soon to try more of the menu. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, and everything we ordered came correctly and with good pacing. The bread was amazing. We shared a bowl of the lobster bisque. It was ok. Hubby got ribs and fries and he said they were really good! I Ordered Thai peanut chicken chop (on the salad menu) which was WAY too "sauced" like REAL heavy! And so very little cabbage( literally 1/4 cup of cabbage). The rest was chicken, pickled onions, cilantro few carrots shreds and like 1/2 cup of peanut and bang bang sauce. I mean I love dressing and the flavors are good but so much dressing made the "salad" cloying and unpleasant. Cabbage is so inexpensive and I feel that if there were more of it it would have been so much better. It was like a soupy mass of ingredients. I was bummed cuz I love the food here typically. Brand new place here in Forest Lake, very nice, great happy hour for the area. Very pricey, but that is trending everywhere. We went there 3 times now, fun, friendly and good food. We just had apps and drinks, so I only can say so much about the food. What we had was excellent, Korean BBQ wings and ribs! Don't know if the attempt was to make this place seem busy, but the noise level is excessive. they have a jukebox, bot you can't hear a thing with all the other noises. Parking is good, the view is very sad. If you sit on their patio, you get a great view of the Forest Lake water treatment plant #1, I would try to have the patio alternate between front and back depending on the weather. read more

Nashville hot chicken sandwich was almost inedible because it was so salty. Worst one I've ever had. Got a pineapple coconut cake thingy for desert. That was also very bad. It was like sour ground pineapple with a muffin in the middle. Servers were very friendly though. Won't be back. read more

Just had lunch with my family. We decided to celebrate my mother in laws Birthday here. Everyone got there meal as ordered, except mine. I ordered fish and chips, it came without Tarter sauce. I asked for some and was told they are out. They also couldn't make any as they didn't have mayo or pickles. So I ate it w/o anything. It was dry and terrible. The manager apologized and gave us a 5 off card, and said they would give me a free desert. I ordered cheese cake with strawberry drizzle, to go. When I got home, and opened the to go box there was no strawberry drizzle it was plain cheese cake. I'm not sure how the waitress got her job there, and or how the manager has a job there. This was our second visit when we went there last week. Our first visit the food was great but the service was okay. We arrived for a very early dinner/ late lunch. First issue was our server was wearing a very dirty mallards t-shirt and workout Nike shorts.( we thought this was a higher end foodie restaurant) I noticed all the staff was dressed like they came from a workout. Second we got their lobster taquitos but they weren't good and seemed to have no seafood in them. All around the food was just okay, not great like our first visit.
