Great service! Came after hours to clear our clog. Justin was excellent, even finished the job after the yellow jacket issue.

Our water heater was old and leaking. Another plumber told us our house water pressure was too high (80 to 100), and our system needed a pressure reducer installed before the water heater could be replaced. He recommended Malmedal, and one of their men (Justin) came out the next day. It took him and his assistant about an hour to do the install. He also replaced a shut-off valve in the line that supplies the water heater. Pressure is now down in the 60-70 range. The only question I have is whether the charge was too high...$540. read more

I set up an appointment for my elderly parent's plumbing problem. The water to the kitchen sink and dishwasher would not run, after doing a flush to the water heater. My father had called and left a few messages on their answering machine; which nobody from Malmedal responded to. I called later within their hours of operations, to set up an appointment. I was successful in getting a human; I explained the problem and set up the appointment. They did NOT ask me what model or made our water heater nor did they really ask me any questions about the situation. When I asked if she has received my father's voice mail, she said she was still going through the messages. They had been open for four hours when I called. Malmedal's earliest appointment was a week out. Not ideal, but okay. The appointment was set for 18 July between 0900-1200. On THE DAY of the appointment, my parents get a call, Malmedal will have to move the appointment another week. This isn't like a shower problem, in the third bathroom isn't working. This is the kitchen. Not only will we never use this company again, but when asked who do we recommend, I will first say, "stay away from Malmedal", then give the number to the company who is coming out today to fix the issue. read more

It works.. But... There's always a but. (TL:DR $850 for a job that should have been $225-375!) I had Malmedal come out to my home to install a whole house water filtration system that I had already purchased from Home Depot. I knew after reading instructions that the piping was beyond my expertise to complete without leaking everywhere or breaking an expensive filter. Malmedal was the plumber who put my new home's pipes in during construction approx 3 mos ago and I was referred by the builder. They arrived on time scheduled, +1 star. They got promptly to work reading the materials they needed even though the list of materials it was provided during the appointment, just was never forwarded to the person doing the work. I asked how much it would be, he mentioned, oh it might be around $450. (which is high ballpark for what I saw online) He had to go to the hardware store (probably charged time for this) to get simple tools that were probably also charged to me and that I had literally on a shelf sitting there already, (stud finder). The piping got put in. I asked why It couldn't be done like example photos I saw, and he explained that "those are copper" this is Pex and requires to be cut at X" to be under warranty" I'm not sure what that was but fine, ok. Anyway, it looks wierd, and half the wall has pipes running across it. Everything works, it looks fine, works fine, tastes great. Now the Bill comes. $850!!?! Are you Serious? IDK what in their right mind they have for billing $100 more I got from a different plumber that did my last house which even provided the filter. You would think I would have saved $500 by providing the actual unit. Everywhere I read, the labor and parts would be $375 high end for 2.5hr and parts which is why I said Ok when originally said $450. I did not get an itemized receipt that broke down what was what, so Idk what I was actually billed anyway. Not happy, beyond the fact that the thing works. read more

I hired Malmedal to repipe my house in Vernonia, including the main line to the street. This is a second home to me and I live outside of Seattle, 4 hours away from Vernonia. They scheduled a time for the estimate, but then cancelled on the same day and rescheduled the estimate even though I was already at the house. Then they scheduled the time for the installation, I drove all the way down, then they cancelled the installation for that time due to weather. They scheduled a second time for installation, I again drove down the day before and then they cancelled again because their Plumber had covid. FINALLY on the 3rd week in a row, I drove down and they did the job. The repiping estimate was for about 7000, I thought that was a fair price. It included hooking up the new water lines to the existing fixtures(which were all new). However, at the end of the day, they claimed that they could not install the tub fixture since I was suddenly missing a valve, so they had to return to complete the job. They then returned to put it the "missing " valve (which I bought), and connect the water lines. However, they wanted to charge me another 350.00 for a service call. I also noticed after they left that the tub did not drain since it had been broken during the repiping job. They refused to return to fix what they had broken. I gave them the opportunity to fix what they broke, but they refused. So, they may be good at little projects on newer homes, but the experience was so bad that I am going to be selling the house after I get another plumber to fix it. It has been six months without a shower or bath. read more

Was very disappointed in this company that came recommended from two separate realtors. The plumber arrived stating he did not bring the supplies needed to fix our clogged sink, that the individual who had what he needed had called out that day. He tried to clear the clog with what he had on hand to no avail and fixed a couple other minor things. I paid $200 and I was told I'd need to schedule another appointment... which would be another $150. When I called to schedule another appointment and negotiate due to them not showing up with equipment needed they were very unhelpful and would not work with me on cost. I will not be using them again, do not recommend them and will most definitely be informing both realtors of my experience. read more

I was very disappointed. I was overpriced for my toilet, I unfortunately found out afterwards. Plus I had wanted two faucets replaced. Person did not seem to know what he was doing. Said faucets could not be fixed. ??? At least did not charge me for the 3 hours he spent determining that. However, the upstairs faucet is now leaking and it was not before. Company took no responsibility when I called to ask them to come out and fixed the leak. Guy who came out said he'd done nothing with the faucet - not true - and my "old" pipes must be leaking. They certainly weren't before he spent all that time doing nothing. Very disappointed after previous positive emergency service the year before. read more

Terrible customer service - called to schedule appt. Call twice and left messages, no return call. 3rd time I called, girl answering phone was having another conversation going on and had to get her attention before she even said Hello. While placing a service call, she accidently hangs up on me. Finally set appt. and she said she would call me back to confirm. 3 hours later and 2 VM's later I finally get her again only to be told she hadn't gotten confirmation yet. While I hold she calls whoever again, gets VM and then tells me she can't confirm. I say great you could have told me this hours ago so I could schedule someone else. She says why don't you go somewhere else and hangs up on me. Terribly rude and very unorganized. This was a referral from another professional and he was not happy at all to hear of the terrible service I received. read more

We were given Malmedal's name from a friend and I'm so pleased with their service. We needed a bathroom sink, faucet, and toilet plumbed. They were prompt in getting a plumber scheduled and Dave showed up before the scheduled time! What a nice surprise with a service call. I have had numerous interactions with this plumbing outfit and their response has always been more than satisfactory. Overall, I find their office staff very helpful with solid connections to their field staff (plumbers). Their plumbers also have a great record of diagnosis, repair, and meeting their estimates. I'm a long-distant landlord for a couple of rentals and they've alleviated my concern and anxiety finding a plumber every time I have an emergency. We waited over a week for a service call on our washing machine drain line. After several positive experiences with Malmedal Plumbing, we had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience today! A year ago they snaked the line and recommended a repair which we expected to be bid today. The plumber who came today did not want to follow up with a bid on that solution. He recommended and bid a different repair. He also did not want to snake the line which had previously solved our problem for a year. I should have insisted the line be snaked, but the plumber declined. I paid $150 for a 20 minute service call and received no service. I requested they return and snake the line, but they were not able to do so today. After a followup call, Malmedal did offer some other solutions and agreed to refund the service call fee after we expressed our strong anger after my wife stated it cost as much as neurosurgeon, "It is not brain surgery!" Unfortunately, we will be hiring another company to snake the line and look for a new plumbing contractor. read more

They are a solid company, they did all the plumbing for my new construction home in Portland finished in Novemeber 2014, including a tankless water heater and after 6 months we have not had one leak or problem. I have no idea about their pricing since it was through the builder, but so far, so good. read more
