WELL I KNOW I WON'T BE COMING BACK ANYTIME SOON!....my friend and i spent over $150.00 on dinner and drinks and when we asked if we could have bread with our meal they said they didn't have any...they weren't out...they just don't serve bread ever!...ok...moving on...in walks a family with their dog in tow....excuse me?...this is an eating establishment and the FOOD and DRUG ADMINISTRATION would shut your doors right now for allowing a non service animal in a place that serves food and people go to eat.....then the old man went up to the bar twice from the far end of the dining room WITHOUT the aid of his service animal and even stopped to flirt with the waitress from the phillipines leaving his service animal at the table!....minutes later the service dog darted across the room and jumped on his owner....NO SERVICE ANIMAL behaves that way....THEY ARE TRAINED NOT TO!.....SO,.i asked the waitstaff and she came back and said we're only allowed to ask if it is a service dog and nothing else...?...REALLY????...well here's a bit of news...service dogs are trained to stay right at the masters side at all times...they don't jump up and down on people....they don't shake their dander as this dog did...SERIOUSLY and i am deathly allergic to pet dander AND I DON'T CARE TO HAVE DOG HAIR ON MY FILET MIGNON....not at that price!..SO NOW WHO LOOKS STUPID??...the conversation with the lying woman who told the waitress that the dog was trained should have continued with the waitress asking for the dogs proof of documentation...I KNOW THEY DIDN'T HAVE ONE!...maybe you deserve to have your doors shut until you grow a pair and learn how to properly address this issue...buying a fake service collar online does not entitle a person to enjoy the same priviledges of an animal that someone spent $1000.+ on REAL SERVICE TRAINING!....you are just giving service animals a bad name with your cavalier attitude about these imposter mutts and their rude, lying self righteous owners....the waitress said but what if we lose a customer...i said...YOU JUST DID!...i think this restaurant is laxed in upholding the laws that are in place for restaurants and now seeing this i wonder what else they are laxed about~like back in the kitchen....SHAME ON YOU MALONES FOR HONORING An UNTRAINED DOG OVER A PAYING CUSTOMER!...DON'T EVEN get me started about the chill outside with those senceless heaters when people could have been comfortably seated in the bar and the entertainment would not have to suffer the elements as people kept walking out because it was just too damn cold to be outside~and we would have stayed and had drinks longer after dinner~i have seen a few articles in the paper where the new owner expressed his desire to see more patronage....so tonight i decided to bring a friend and to say the least what should have been a great night of food, libation and great music was cut short and we were out of there by 7:15 very disappointed....i suggest when a waiter askes for your order he should at the very least ask how i would like the filet mignon cooked~...as he grabbed the menu and started to walk away i said don't you want to know how i would like the filet cooked and he said oh...oh yeah~...(ps..it wasn't busy at 5:30 when i placed my order)...if you're going to be a people restaurant be a people restaurant and cater to people....you seem to forget the customer appreciation part of hospitality...i worked on the food industry for years and it's not rocket science....it's common sense and your management has none...!...neither me or my friend will be back to your dog park food service establishment....sometimes the best way to send a message is with your feet....mine will never cross your threshhold again....what a big disappointment tonight was!...kat kelley! read more

I used to go to Malone's almost every week. In the past couple years the staff has changed quite a bit and it's not quite the same experience, so I don't find myself there as often, but here's the things I LOVE about Malone's: the outdoor patio in the summertime under the huge beautiful tree with live music is amazing. The fireplace in the bar during the wintertime is cozy and feels like a close escape. And the Cobb Burger ... by far the BEST hamburger I've ever had, although their Italian Burger is a very close second. The drinks are a little too strong for my taste, but I'm sure for many that would be a plus! Their weekly events throughout the year are cool to drop in on as well, including their new piano bar, wine-down wednesdays, tequila tastings, live music, karaoke, etc. read more

We used to come here all the time before it was refurbed and the prices were better. But even before the refurb, they jacked up the prices and the food got no better. I never got into the burgers- way too much bread and I can't remember anything that I thought was exceptional. The patio dining is great and the dining room is fine- better now than the dark decor it used to be, but I hated walking through the bar because it stinks like stale alcohol and urine. We haven't been there in a long time but if they ever lower their prices or upped the food quality a LOT, we might try again. read more

Food 5 stars: I've had Gorgonzola burger, prawn Cobb, green chili soup, various stuffed pasta, fish, stuffed portobello mushroom...all good. Service 3 star: very slow. Hard to go here during lunch. Slow to seat, slow to come get my order,slow for food to come, no water refills, no refills on drinks, slow to get checks, slow to get my to go box. Service unfriendly. Love this place! They have a fantastic ambiance, great food and great service! They change up the specials and beers often. My favorite dish is the gnocchi and filet, but their burgers and salads and truffle fries are phenomenal. Katie is my favorite bartender, but they are all awesome! Rich is great too! By far the best bar and restaurant in Scotts Valley! Being born and raised here it's something that SV always lacked- a fun place to grab a drink with a friend and a quality meal that you don't need to drive over the hill to get. The Hitchcock burger and the Cadillac tacos are my go to! For drinks the Fool's Gold is absolutely amazing or a glass of Ryder sauv blanc never disappoints. Hats off to the new owners! read more

Okay. A really bad experience at Malone's brings me to yelp. My in-laws wanted to take our family out one last time before returning from a visit to the area. We used to come here a lot and the food was great but this time... initially, we are disappointed to see that their menu had changed and a lot of our favorites were no longer available. Then they tell us they don't have bread... as if we asked if we could smoke. They sell salads, they don't have bread. Okay, that was weird... especial when the burgers are listed under the heading 'bread board'. Ordered the avocado fries as a shared starter. They were stone cold in the middle. My father-in-law ordered the pork chop. It was also stone cold in the middle too... because it was RAW in the middle. Not undercooked... but RAW. The kind of RAW that would have Gordon Ramsay throw pots and pans around and kick the chef out of the kitchen. While bringing it 'up to temperature' they overcompensated and it was way overdone by the time he got it back. He was comp'ed the avocado fries but still paid for the pork chop. Other meals were below par (small portions of fish and chips, tough skirt steak) but all pales in comparison to a RAW pork chop. All in all, you know when you are the one that recommends a restaurant because it used to be good and then it sucks? .. that was pretty much our experience. read more

This was our 3rd visit (my 5th) to Malone's since the new ownership. Not 1 of us 4 will return, ever. 1. The wait times for service are unacceptable. We waited over 70 minutes for our bad meal. 2. We were never offered a refill on our drinks. We sat for an hour with empty cocktail glasses. 3. Our appetizers were never served. 4. The owners came out and made excuses for the lousy service and blamed our waitress. Not my problem the dishwasher didn't show up for work. 5. 3rd visit with no romaine. First time was the too much rain excuse. Funny, the stores and other eateries were serving it! The excuse on a Saturday evening: end of week. We ran out. Go to the grocery or Costco and buy some; amend your delivery amounts. 6. Glasses were all dirty so I couldn't have a cocktail in a beer glass, as requested. Perhaps if one of the owners spent time bussing tables instead of sitting and kissing his new wife, I wouldn't be writing this review. How about grab a glass, wash and dry it, and you'd have sold me 3 drinks during our marathon wait for dinner. 7. Can you imagine a full bar with no American or Canadian whiskey with a name I recognized? I asked for Seagrams, Black Velvet. No. Our recommendation is go to Hindquarter to eat!! read more

My first review seems to have disappeared and that's kind of annoying as it was a simple good review. Anyway, since then we've grown tired of their wine down Wednesday's. The food is good and all, but some of the wines are not. It seems that a descent winery comes but pours their crappy wine. We got tired of spending the money and are being more selective. Plus spending $60 each week on wine and dinner, gets to be a bit expensive. After reading the latest reviews, I was amused by hearing about the servers attitude. My BF and I usually arrive before our friends and order food. When our friend comes, the waitress hovers (which is really annoying when you just got off work and need to vent to friends - the last thing you need is someone hovering over you waiting for you to order something) back off! We'll order when we're ready! Otherwise, the place is great, never actually been here other than the wine thing, there's other places to eat. We're attempting the wine down again soon and can't wait for the pesto calamari - yummy! read more

Best Burger in Nor Cal and fairly inexpensive considering it is almost a pound. The burger is so big it is oblong instead of being round. Always a fun place to hang out, Great outside patio. Family friendly and always warm and inviting. If you love wine checkout the Wine down Wednesday's, great wineries pour for two hours for only $10 bucks. This place has amazing service. I went there on a Monday night with my friend. We had the most amazing waitor, I think his name was Justin or Jason. But he was super attentive to our needs. My friends has been a waitress for 4 years and she is hard to impress. His knowledge of the menu mixed with his warm personality made him seem more like a friend than a waitor. We had the two pasta dishes, one with a white wine cream sauce and the other with a gorgonzola cream sauce. I didn't really care too much for mine, while my friend loved it. I loved hers, so we switched. The gorgonzola was ripe and pungent and it was evident in the sauce. It was fabulous. I would highly recomend this place to my friends. They could use a little change in the ambience, but that is no fault of the wait staff nor the chef. Both of these elements solidly made up for the lackluster environment. read more

This place was fantastic. Went there for dinner on a whim with the family, toddler in tow on a random weekday evening. I saw a bunch of reviews here that recommended the gorgonzola burger, so that is what I ordered -- wow, you guys weren't kidding! From the first bite to the last I was marveling in its goodness, with the caramelized onions and focaccia bun -- this is not a burger to put down. Elsewhere around the table there were many comments about other fantastic entrees, but I was too busy scarfing my burger to notice so I`m afraid I can't tell you too much about the other dishes. I can vouch for the margarita however, you can't go wrong with Cabo Wabo. Nicole was our waitress and she rocked. That was a fun evening and we will be back for sure! read more

The restaurant has a smooth jazz theme we both liked; the wait staff was wonderful - friendly and engaging, this makes or breaks a restaurant experience for me. We both went for the MEAT. I had the 6oz fillet with the roasted garlic & gorgonzola sauce (calories be damned) which was so delicious; the veggies were fresh and still had snap. My hubby went for the prime rib with the pepper au poivre sauce that was outstanding too. The wine list could be more robust. We will definitely be back. read more

I let the waitress know that I'm vegan/Vegateran and did not look like meat. She recommended the calliwflower. It came soggy and greasy with a wing sauce on it. This is our favorite restaurant in town! We have had nothing but great service in the restaurant as well as when we sit up at the bar. Our favorite bartender (Ashton) never disappoints with her bubbly personality and amazing mixology skills. As far as the food goes, everything we have ever ordered has been delicious! Had a great time at Malone's last night for Monday Night Football. Their "Blue's Busters" will sure pep you up. They have great deals for food, beers and drinks four nights of the week. Leaving that place last night I felt more at peace and not so broke. A $6 Rib Eye steak sandwich will sure do that I guess. It was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The place feels like a good old neighborhood bar, but you will be surprised at the different dining areas they have to offer. It's never a disappointment! I love their patio, so spacious and comfy. I keep telling myself to try something different but I just can't get over their mouth watering 1lb Greek Burger with sweet potato fries and that delicious lemon aioli dipping sauce!
