If you are in the area and want a good steak, this place is what you're looking for! We were in town for a bachelor's party weekend. We wanted a really good steak, not a mediocre Texas Roadhouse steak(not bashing them they just aren't in the same league.) A few of the guys had the filet but I wanted the NY strip. Honestly one of the best I've ever had and I've been to many very nice steakhouses in my lifetime. Lastly, the baked potato was probably the best I've ever experienced. Not sure exactly why but everyone at the table was surprised as well. It was buy and yes it was a bit loud but the food more than made up for any issue with loudness. This is my second time at Malone's. The first experience I had to request another server. This time the service was wonderful. The server made suggestions I would not have thought would be appetizing, but they were great.. Malone's has changed the menu since August and drastically changed the prices and not improved quality of food. Love lobster macaroni. It's a up charge and watery with uncooked noodles. To pay $100 for a meal and it to be subpar is unacceptable. If you are going to increase prices you have to increase or maintain the same quality of food. My best friend brought me here for a little pre birthday brunch. Mimosas were cheap and GOOD, she had the Bloody Mary which was huge and beautifully presented. A great pick with many things to choose from on the menu. Appetizers were delicious. I had the Cobb Salad as my entree, and it seemed to be missing some ingredients but it was good nonetheless. Yes, it was a busy Saturday night, and they had our reservation seats ready when we arrived. Parking lot is big, but limited availability d/t multiple other businesses sharing the lot. One drink was not made correctly, which the server said they ran out of ingredients in the kitchen and mixed the closest taste to what the cocktail would be.... I understand trying to make something close to the original but if there are missing ingredients it would be easier to let the party know because the customer ended up not liking the end result anyways , and they could have requested something else. I love this place! I've been a few times over the course of my time in Lexington and I'm always pleased. Service is phenomenal, they truly take care of you. Food is *chef's kiss*. I've gotten the steaks and burgers before. I recently got the pan seared fish and loaded potato, that was amazing! The fish was a BIT too buttery than anticipated, but you bet I ate it. I've frequented this spot over the years, but not since Covid. Decided to order for a pickup and I was very impressed with the quality, quantity, and quickness! Catch that alliteration?! I really appreciated how they packaged my items. Without requesting, they seemed to already know what we would need and how we could fully enjoy our carryout. We ordered my favorite Crab Rangoon roll, Club Sandwich with Baked Potato. Potato came with all of the fixings. They also threw in a Lexingtonian Salad, their warm bread and delicious butter! Decided to make reservations for my birthday being Malones has always been my go to for great food and service. We drove an hour and a half for our reservation on New Years Eve. We waited 20 minutes to be seated at a table for 2. We both finished our waters with our bread and did not get refills on our water until after our appetizer and entree had been out despite asking several times. We had to wait 5 minutes after our steaks were brought to table to receive steak knives, leaving us with cold steaks. I understand New Year's Eve is a very busy night in the service industry but we left feeling extremely disappointed in our experience as someone who has always chosen Malones as our go to for special occasions for close to 10 years. read more

This place has always been a go to place for me but even more so now with this pandemic. I live near one and anytime I go to the grocery I see a line of cars waiting. Yesterday I decided to give them a try and they knocked it out of the park. I was able to text my order from my phone, get a confirmation with a minute letting me know how long it would take. I drove over parked in a spot and within 5 minutes had my order at my car. The lady even loaded it in to my trunk for me. She also had gloves and masks on and was staying away from my window when talking to me and confirming my order. I was a little skeptical that I was going to get everything I ordered only because I had never done the text to go and it just seemed too easy. But it was all PERFECT! My two steaks were cooked to perfection, all the utensils I asked for included, the extra loaves of bread, etc. The food is always amazing and the service was stellar. I was so excited to have a date with my husband and enjoy some good food at Malone's. When we arrived I was asked if we had a reservation which we did and in that reservation I had specifically stated that I wanted a booth but, Not in the bar area. Well, where did the hostess take us ? You guessed right. She took us to a booth in the back room which is just behind the bar. It was very loud back there and not intimate at all!! I complained to the hostess but, was told that was all they had. The manager also said the same thing. So, we sat down and tried to make the best of it. The service was good except they had to remake my husband's food because they got it wrong. And, they messed up our bill and charged us twice. Malone's at 3347 Tates Creek Road in Lexington, KY is a high end steakhouse offering great food and ambiance for any special occasion. While I love a great steak, I decided to try their pork chops (See Picture) and I was very pleased with that selection. I also really enjoyed their crisp vegetable medley. (See Picture) Malone's with two locations is a great place to take a date, hit the bar after a game, or they can host large groups if needed. Me and my two friends at this Malone's location last Friday. The food was amazing. Everything is so fresh. We loved the bread and "butter" served with the meals. My husband loves steak, and this is one of his favorite restaurants. I enjoy steak, but it's not my favorite. I was curious how my experience here would compare to my experience at Jeff Ruby's. In short - I think Jeff Ruby's is better quality, but you can get more food for the same price at Malone's, and it is good food. I loved my pixie martini - the waitress recommended it to me when I asked for a sweet drink. I also ordered "the basic" drink but I didn't get a picture and didn't like it as much as the pixie (tasted more strongly of alcohol). The crab rolls appetizer were my favorite food that I ordered! I enjoyed my salmon as well, but personally think it was just SLIGHTLY dry (again - comparing to Jeff Ruby's...). The broccoli was cooked perfectly but had a little too much pepper for my liking. My husband ordered the calipari. I really liked the fried lobster tail on his order. The batter was seasoned well and cooked well. His steak just tasted like a steak to me, but again I'm not a huge steak person. He loved it. He said it wasn't over seasoned, and they did not over cook it (he always orders rare). My wife ordered the pasta dish with kalamata olives. It was oversalted to the point that she couldn't eat it. She ate 2 bites and just shared my steak. It also tasted like they had poured olive juice all over it. One of the worst dishes that we've ever been served. My steak was great as always. My husband and I went out with friends on Saturday and had a terrible experience. We had a reservation at 6:30 and didn't sit down until after 7. My husband cannot eat soybean oil due to an allergy and we informed our server after we placed his order. The server brought the food out, forgot to ask so had to go back and ask the chef. The food had soybean oil in it so the server came back and took the food away (after everyone's food was already there). The server didn't have knowledge of what food had soybean oil in it and it took 3 tries before getting recommendations from the chef. We all finished our food and the table was cleaned before my husband got his food. The food came out without sauce that was supposed to be on it. The original location. This has always been my "go to" place when I don't know where else to go for some very good steak and seafood. I have been here many times over the last 18 years and they are consistent (occasional exception) and very good. Tonight I had one of my favorite dishes. The Beef Carpaccio appetizer. For 15 bucks you can't beat it. It's incredible! Just a warning... don't ever get it at the Hamburg location. It's like a night and day difference. Anyway, I highly recommend the Beef Carpaccio. It is so delicate and tender. Great flavors... Red onion, capers, shaved parmesan, garlic parmesan aioli, arugula salad and grilled garlic bread. Incredible. I make it an entire meal. Having just moved back to Lexington after a ten year hiatus, I met a friend at Malone's for a celebratory lunch. We actually sat inside Drake's under heater, so we stayed warm and cozy. It's so convenient to have the option of ordering from either the Drake's or Malone's menus, no matter where you sit. We each had a glass of wine, a rather healthy pour I might add! I chose the grilled Atlantic salmon with a creamy dill lemon sauce, and a side of broccoli florets. The waitress asked how I'd like my salmon cooked, a nice touch. I ordered it medium, and it was grilled to perfection. And the sauce is a classic for salmon- delicious. The broccoli was steamed till crisp tender and nicely seasoned. My friend opted for the kale and quinoa salad to which she added salmon. It was topped with sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, green apple, and a little queso fresco. It's a creamy Mexican cheese with a salty-sour kick which added a little bite to the dish. It was tossed with a simple apple cider honey vinaigrette. It all made for a nice leisurely lunch, and we wished we could have stayed for another glass of vino, but one of us had to return to work (not me)! First time visit-drove 100 miles to eat here for my birthday dinner based on a recommendation from the TV show "Best Thing I Ever Ate." It was worth the drive. I had the Twin Filets Oscar Style, potato croquettes, the Bottomless Lexingtonian (BLT) Salad and a complimentary piece of Sal's Cheesecake for my birthday. If you order a salad, be sure to request light dressing or on the side- they absolutely drenched the Caesar salad in dressing and cheese to the point of being inedible.
